Corbin is an awesome mechanic. They take great care of my cars. I will not go anywhere else. Very knowledgeable, affordable, and gets vehicles in and out in a timely fashion.

Had our car towed there they were quick to look at it and change our alternator for a reasonable price. After driving it home there was another underlying issue they assisted in getting our car back to their shop and fixed the other problem free of charge! Thanks for helping and getting us back on the road!

Great bunch of guys! Had a quote from one place for 3k toms did the same work, with the same quality parts, for 1600$. I never told them about the other quote just walked in and asked for a quote and it was almost half what the other place wanted to charge me. I will keep coming back to them, they ve helped me out of a few pickles over the last 2 years.

Fixed my mirror for $700 less than gerber collision. They had it done in 19 minutes as well. As far as I m concerned there s only one mechanic in Valpo and it s Tom s auto repair.

Thank you for not ripping me off. You were right. I appreciate the honesty and the suggestion that I take the Toyota to a fabricating muffler shop.You may have missed out on 800.00 in revenue, but, you've gained my loyalty on future repairs. Integrity is rare, I appreciate that you have it.

Quoted me 1,789.39$...Mosiers in kouts reset my computer and actually checked my catalytic converter for Free. I wasn't charged not a dime. If at some point I do need a catalytic converter, Mosiers quote was for 1,100$ SoSad that women still get shady quotes in this town...almost double!! Not cool

i have never written a google review, so you know this business is good enough to get one from me. i go to school in valpo - my parents are out of state. my car was being so weird and i really was nervous to drive it around. my options were to tow it to my hometown, or see if anyone could fix it by today. no one was able to see it but Tom s. In less than an hour, my car troubles were fixed. it felt honest with no gimmicks, extremely friendly staff. i will forever be grateful to them for taking a look and fixing the problem on such short notice. they have my business forever!Service: Vehicle Inspection

Took my 1998 Ford Expedition in for some maintenance work and Joe took care of my repairs that were required. Did a brake job on it and said that I would need additional parts that I was aware of but wasn t sure if I would need. Turns out I would need the additional parts and was called and told the price of said parts. I would rather have it done correct and be safe than be cheap and risk problems down the road. Brakes work great and the rest of the work done makes the Ole Grey Mare run for many years to come. I took my 2007 Dodge Ram truck in to get her brakes, rotors and calipers replaced.Joe was my attendant. He was very knowledgeable in what needed to be done and assured me it would be done that day.As promised, Joe called me just a few hours later and said my truck was done and bonus It was cheaper than my original quote.Even though their lot is full of cars needing service, the still had time to get me in and out quickly. Thank you Tom & team members! I d been to two other mechanics who were unable to diagnose or fix my car before a friend recommended Tom s Auto. They went above and beyond, fixed my car, check engine light off and emissions passed! Reasonable prices as well. Just in time for winter. My husband and I are grateful to find someone we trust to take our cars to. <3

Tom's Valpo Auto Repair isa total rip off. They take advantage of women, assuming they know nothing about vehicles. They charged me for both front brake pads, calipers and rotors and in less than 4 months (7,000 miles) my brakes were vibrating when I stopped and squeaking.Tom said I wore them out from slamming on the brake when I stopped and I insisted he fix them again. Come to come out he NEVER put new parts in that he charged me for. He just ground down rotors and greased caliper slides.. And he charged me for a full front brake job. Just shy of $500.00. Totally took advantage of me being a woman. He also did a brake job on my SUV and now my brakes are squeaking and grinding. . I've had 3 other issues that he's charged me for and now has to be refined. I when I went in to get brakes fixed for third time the kid behind the counter wouldn't let me talk to Tom. We got into an argument and the kids flung my keys at me and told me to "GET OUT". Tom and his mechanics have great service, communication with everyone to explain the problem before fixing your vehicle. very fair on the prices. knowledge of wiring problems, emissions, tune-ups, engine and trans swap. they also work on diesel and get you in and fix in a timely fashion. great shop and great people.

Tom's Valpo Auto Repair Shop is a total & complete rip off. I took my van in to get an alternator replaced & they broke a wire that goes to my traction & ABS sensors. Tom looked at the van & said I didn't have to worry about the ABS & traction light coming on & it has nothing to do with my braking system period. Before I got home those lights were right back on in my dash. I told Tom that I didn't have any lights coming on in my dash when I brought my van to get the alternator fixed. Tom said that he believed me that these lights weren't on when I brought the van in. So, the following Monday I brought the van back up to his shop & he looked at the van & said the traction sensor had come lose from the tire when they put the van on the lift to fix the alternator & he put the wire/sensor back in. Before I got home, again, those same dash lights came on. So, I called & talked to Tom again, but this time he said it would cost me $65 for him to look at my van again. Why should I have to pay for something his shop broke in the first place? This is a total & complete rip off mechanic shop that I have ever seen. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO TOM'S. They fix one thing & tear up another thing, so you bring your vehicle back to him. I give this shop a negative 5 stars.

SUCH AN AMAZING BUSINESS!!! I got a flat tire, not from Indiana and I was lucky enough that Tom happened to stop by and was able to change my tire and point me in the right direction to buy another tire. So informative and helpful and overall so friendly 15/10 recommend

Great, great affordable auto repair service from friendly and reliable mechanics. Had to put money into a truck on it's last leg; Tom's Auto gave me a fair price, did the work timely, and I couldn't have been happier with the repairs. Good to know I have an auto shop I can rely on.

It's been over a month and the problem has yet to be corrected. First the wrong part was delivered. OK, it happens. Rescheduled 2 weeks later to have correct part installed, check engine light still on after taking it back 3 times. Then. had an appointment scheduled for this week, but they were "too busy" and now the owner is on vacation for 2 weeks. Disappointed.Service: Exhaust

Average mechanics in Valpo. Somewhat overpriced. I would recommend USA Muffler and Heinold & Feller (both in Valpo) for regular repair work if you have an older, aging car. They will treat you right.Heinold has had to do some warranty repairs on my car because of a faulty rack-and-pinion installation at Tom's (excessive play in the wheel, steering fluid started leaking again after a few months despite assurances a new system would solve the problem). Maybe stick to oil changes with this shop.

It was a good local shop when Tom was running the place. Now I think he would be embarrassed that his name is even associated with this place. I don't have the time or enough space here to write all that is wrong with this place. All I can say is don't say nobody tried to warn you.

BEST vehicle service I have ever received. Tom is fair and honest and timely. I have referred friends and family and everyone who has went to him continues to use him. I won't go anywhere else!
