I was disappointed to find I was charged for an hour of diagnostic work when part of that time was used by the shop employee to go buy breakfast at McDonald's. I had dropped off my truck to have them inspect an issue with the 4x4 system. After receiving their repair quote, I realized I could not afford the cost. I understand that's not the shop's fault. However, upon getting the truck back, I found a McDonald's receipt inside that showed the employee had stepped out mid-inspection to purchase food. While I can appreciate needing a quick bite, it seems inappropriate to charge a customer for time not fully spent addressing the vehicle repair. I wanted to provide a notice to others that about this issue.

Joe goes above and beyond for his customers without prompting. Not only do we take all of our cars there, as a company, we rent Penske trucks through Clements. After having a snafu with a Penske truck that was scheduled to arrive, Joe took the bull by the horns and made it right even though he doesn't directly work for Penske. Mike and the rest of the team at Clements are awesome too and I wish I had them all on my team!

Got my car in and fixed in two days, with no appointment and no notice to help fix an emergency. Fair price, and easy pick up / drop off, and pleasant communication. Took the time to explain what was wrong to someone who isn't mechanically savvy. Get you a mechanic like Mike who works past close and calls you at 9 in the evening to let you know that everything on your car has passed the inspection items you wanted checked, unlike a dealership who will just mark everything green and send you on your way as soon as they can. That's dedication, honesty, and diligence you won't find at a shop anywhere else in Valpo. Fair and honest pricing, decent customer service, and a car that runs great, why would I go anywhere else?Service: General repairs & maintenance

There are a lot of good mechanics out there. But a good mechanic that's up front, honest, and gives you a professional recommendation of what needs or doesn't need to be done, is worth their weight in gold. I take all my vehicles to Clement's Auto when repairs that are out of my scope of abilities are needed. Sometimes however, Mike will actually recommend I take my vehicle elsewhere to get done by someone who specializes in something. For example, I once had a muffler issue and instead of Mike just saying, "I'll take care of it" and then taking my car and money, he actually recommended taking it to a local muffler shop and having it repaired there. I feel that this was absolutely in the best interests of the customer. Another time, I had an automatic door closing issue that he recommended a body shop look into as the door was damaged. Instead of just taking the vehicle, and contracting out it out to another vendor, he did what he felt was in the best interest of his customers. I'm confident he probably could have very easily done the work himself, but was looking out into my best interest and in getting the job done the best way possible. That being said, as you've heard, good mechanics aren't cheap, and cheap mechanics aren't good. However, when I take my vehicles to Clement's Auto, the work that is done and quoted for, will be done correctly and well. Older cars can be more problematic, have parts and things that break down and wear out. If Mike recommends something that needs to be done, you can be rest assured that he's been in the auto industry for many years and knows what he is talking about and most importantly isn't just telling you to do repairs to drum up some business. If you drive a car, especially one in which that might be a high mileage vehicle, you should know that things go wrong and eventually need some sort of maintenance. Things don't always go as planned, even when getting things repaired, but I can guarantee you that when you take your work to Clement's Auto, you're going to be getting quality service that's honest, real, and done right. Mike's always awesome and they all basically know my car in-and-out how often I'm there Only because it's old and not in great shape overall, but they're always happy to squeeze me in and take a look regardless of the issue.I'm not great with cars and they don't treat you differently because of it. Also, had an extra dumb moment once and was struggling to adjust my steering wheel and some guys from the shop walked over and helped me because they saw me struggling. Regardless, they didn't make me feel stupid about it and were super nice.

Just had two tires, rotation and oil change. All cost less than just two tires from my old place. Guys are super friendly. Just plan to have your vehicle there for a day for any work, which is not a problem, just something to plan for, great work, great prices!

I live in Michigan and my daughter is a student at Valparaiso. After a recent trip home, I noticed a sizable fluid leak where my daughter had parked her car. I had her take it to Clements based on other google reviews. Clements quickly found the source of the leak. It was a loose oil filter. They secured the filter, added oil and investigated a 'check ignition system' light the car displayed. They did all of this for no charge! For a parent of an out of state college student, I couldn't be happier with the service and professionalism of this shop. I would not hesitate to bring them my future business. Great Job.

Good people! I hit metal road debris and ruptured my fuel tank on the highway. I had the whole family inside the car and puddling gasoline badly. I pulled in the nearest car repair place and Clements saved me! I was in crisis panic mode with gas leaking everywhere. The mechanic acted fast and came out a plastic push in rivet and hammer. This actually worked and stopped the leak completely! You have no idea how grateful I am to these people. I was able to drive back to Illinois safely.

Had an issue with my brakes and as a out of state student I had no idea where to take my car. Clements was nearby so I took it there and he got it fixed quickly, and was willing to work with my dad all throughout the process.

Would not recommend if you want your vehicle back the same way it was when you dropped it off just stuff like grease on doors,obvious marks of damaged from paneling that wasn't there when it was sent in. If you have a cheap car and dont care what happens that's fine otherwise find a better shop.

I dealt with Mike and he was awesome! We live in Michigan and our daughter is going to school in Valpo. Her steering wheel on her car was locking up. We called a GM dealer in MI to see if there were any recalls on her car and they said no. So she dropped off her car to Clements and they looked at it right away and called to say that researching the problem they found that GM sent out a bulletin that this problem was a reoccuring problem and that they would fix her car up to 100,000 miles. Clements was honest telling my daughter that GM would cover it and lead her to a GM dealer that they called and set up for her. What a relief for us - having our daughter so far away from us. We were really impressed with Clements. If you are looking for an honest, good repair shop PLEASE go to Clements!
