To say "Exceptional Service" still doesn't do it justice. Everyone there went out of their way to make me feel as if total satisfaction with my purchase was most important. And I was definitely satisfied! They even found me better financing. Saving me a ton of money! Well worth the 3hr trip from Michigan. Thanks to everyone at Gates Chevrolet!

Please beware of Gates in Southbend. They like to sell cars that have issues to young people. My son received an email from Gates he won up to $1000 off the sticker price of a vehicle. Gates put him in an suv for a couple of days & then told him he wasn't approved for it but they had another vehicle he is approved for. They offered him a 2013 Ford focus. My son had the focus for 1 day & it already was having issues. Come to find out, it has a clogged catalac converter. Since my son just got the car & he hadn't even had it for 2 days, I told him to take the car back and get his car back he traded in. Oh yeah, the sticker price was $7500. With 2 vehicle trade ins, & the up to $1000 off, that knocked off $1500 total putting the price around $6500. However, they had him financed at a 25% APR making the total he'd have to pay around $15,000. My son got the car Saturday, took it back Monday. They were refusing to do anything because he signed the papers. They didn't care they just sold him a car with issues. I called up there & spoke with 3 different people to get my son his original car back & they were still refusing because he signed the papers. I explained they were wrong for taking advantage of young people with little knowledge on cars. They asked me why I didn't come up there with him & also why I wouldn't cosign. Unbelievable that's none of their business. Please don't trust them. They are only in it to make money. They're not trustworthy AT ALL & despite them telling me there's nothing that can be done, they gave my son his car back after I told them I was contacting my lawyer.***Oh yeah & they were requiring pictures of my sons social security card. I've never had to provide my ss card ever at a car lot.

We had an amazing experiencw at Gates Chevrolet. It ia family owned and the environment feels like it. Tammy was amazing with us, extremely kind and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back for any future vehicles.

I ve already told two people about your new place not only were the people happy nice and professional. The price was right love the new place. I want to tell a lot more people but yet I don t want them to know about it if you understand what I mean it was nice that I could make an appointment for a service call the one on McKinley I don t know maybe should just close it down and start over again because that staff has a hot problemService: Oil change

I go for oil changes..Clean and comfortable facilities while waiting.Friendly, prompt, professional service.This last visit, note on paperwork of "oil leak." I had to ask them about it. Could not tell me where, how bad, location, volume of oil, anything about it. Just was told it needs further inspection. Paid them and left. YOU MISSED A SERVICE OPPORTUNITY! Hmmmm. Puzzled at there lack of care, communication. Guess I'll find another shop.

After 20+ years of loyalty, I feel forced to look for a new place to have our Chevrolets serviced on the southside of South Bend. I have hanged in while they closed the service station and built the new dealership. I do regular maintenance on my vehicles. The new service writers don't seem to listen and put down how I describe the problem with my vehicle to the technicians. Twice I have taken my truck in for an inconsistant noise in the rear, only to be told the last time that it is my tires and they could replace them with lower quality tires. A young gentleman did seem helpful and friendly when I dropped it off, but was not working the days my vehicle was serviced. My husband has not had this problem at Gates Toyota for his car, but they have told us that they cannot service our truck there since it is a Chevy. Oh I forgot to mention how my daughter had 3 different salesmen approach her car while waiting for me to come out when dropping off my truck.

Great place. I am not local, this place was recommended. They did an amazing job on my vehicle. Were able to get me in and out fairly fast. Even called and arranged my rental car to pick me up. The work was top notch, followed up to make sure I was happy. I have a warranty on the paint job and a honest place to go if I am ever in Michiana area again.Great job guys, I truly appreciate all you do.

Collision repair was great. Fine detail and follow through is horrible. Went to pick up car on completed day(Friday) told to come back Monday. Window didn't work. Came back Tuesday, had to take back Wednesday because window didn't close all the way. Service advisor acted like there was nothing wrong the first time but he didn't drive it. I didn't appreciate that comment. Then my door handle trim was broken so I had to come back again the following Monday. Supposedly it's on order and they will call me. I came back 2 weeks later... still on order. Now its been 2 months and I've not heard anything and I'm still missing my door handle trim. Will follow up with my insurance to notify them of the service I received from a "preferred" body shop.

Great customer service! We hit a deer on Christmas Eve while visiting family in South Bend. They got us in the day after Christmas and had it done in just a few days to get us back on the road to head home to Denver! Great customer service. Friendly and kept us updated the entire time. We are impressed with their speedy quality work.

I have been taking my Toyotas to this location for oil changes for years. I called & told them I was now driving a Saab & asked if they could still do an oil change for me using synthetic 5W 30 oil. They told me yes. I asked if the price would still be $23. They told me yes. When I took my car in they told me to use full synthetic oil I would have to have the $68 package. I had my oil changed & when I checked out $70 later I asked the girl if they filled the air in my tires & she assured me they did. I pulled over in the parking lot next to them & checked the air in my tires & they had not filled them. I called & the employee who answered said they filled them to 35 pounds. I said it says right on the door the tires take 41 pounds. He rudely said if you bring it back we will fill the tires up. I said that s OK I ll do it myself. He was not polite & I have no intention of returning. For $70 I expect not to be lied to & I definitely expect better treatment than what I received.Service: Oil change

It was supposed to take 2 weeks to repair the damage to my car from an accident. They got it done several days early. They did an awesome job, you can't tell that the rear end of my car had ever been hit. Definitely would use their services again when needed.

Love this place!! John, the service manager, was terrific!! I will be taking my car back for any and all service and maintenance issues. I had my AC fixed, a sensor replaced, and they swapped out my headlight. John explained everything to me I know nothing about cars except to put gas in them. I didn't expect them to get my car done as quick as they did, a great surprise! They have certainly won me over and they have gained a new customer.

I must give credit when credit is due. The body work on my car is done just about perfect. What I don't like is that when I went to pick my vehicle up my radio didn't work and was working fine when I dropped off, the tint on my window had been damaged from repair and I also discovered that my headlight bulb was blown. All were in good condition before then. Headlight bulb is over $100 to replace. Side door repair doesn't require a person to touch any of the above.

I have been going to Gates for years. I recently had to take my vehicle in for warranty repairs. They provided me with updates and were able to get my vehicle done the same day I dropped it off. I then got a follow up call the next day to make sure everything was resolved. Brian has always done an amazing job taking care of me.

I was accustomed to having my service and body shop needs at the McKinley location for over 10 years. Then I moved to the south side. The Ireland location service n body shop staff is much better. It s smaller but their more personable. Aim to provide great customer service.

If you need your car fixed due to an accident don t allow it to come here. I ve called and was told ya it s all just being put back together all we need to do is put the bumper on and clean it up and it should be good to go 10:30am. 3:30 pm I am here now to pick my car up and oh it s still being put together.. trying their best. Huh? I thought all you had to do is put the bumper back on and clean it up. So basically you ve lied to me this entire time? Ray the shop manager you re a joke.

Had my oil changed. This is where I like to take my vehicles. They have a waiting area or I go to Taco Bell next door and wait. The employees are very nice. Sometimes I feel like they are a little slow, but it is usually due to lack of mechanics. They also have a body shop at this location.

Very happy with the work they did repairing some body damage to my car. Everyone was very helpful and friendly during the whole process. They even had my car done a week prior to the original finish date. Highly recommend this body shop.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Was told by my adjuster on Friday that the car was expected to be done by the end of the day...I couldn't make it up there till Monday so I went right after work basically just to drive 45 min out of my way for them to tell me it's not done....then Im about 10 min from home and they call to tell me it's done but couldn't tell me that before I left that it would only be about an hour. So finally I go to pick up my car Tuesday and the bumper is popped off and won't stay in place (which it wasn't like that before)...I can still clearly see the crack in the bumper that they "fixed" and then there were pretty deep scratches at the bottom of the bumper where they just painted over those instead of actually fixing it. Needless to say, I thought that by taking it to the dealer my car would look like it just rolled off the showroom floor....boy was I wrong!! And their customer service matches their quality of work. Shoddy!

Decent mechanic, HORRIBLE customer service. I made an appt to drop my Impala off at 7am to fix an oil leak. By 11am I had not heard anything from them so I called & was informed they had lost the # I gave them to contact me. Then he tells me that my check engine light was on & proceeds to tell me the codes. I ask him about the oil leak he tells me he doesn't know, they didn't check that, just did an engine diagnostic (they charge $52 for this which can be done for free at AutoZone). Well seeing as I told them when I made the appt AND when I dropped it off that i had an oil leak, this made no sense ??!!? He then tells me they will check for the oil leak, costs another $20. Calls me back an hr later & quotes me a price for repairs. I ask will they be able to do it today & he tells me absolutely as long as they don't run into any unforseen problems. By 4:45 I hadn't heard back so I called again to be informed my car won't be done until the next morning. I understand they can't guarantee a time the repairs would be done but if they couldn't get them done when they said they should've called. Also, if they would've looked at what I asked at 7am when I brought my car instead of waiting till almost noon it would've been done the same day. Called yet again the next day since i still heard nothing by 10am they said, oh yeah its done. Never called. While the repair was done well and is guaranteed they have absolutely no communication skills & never once even attempted to apologize for the lack of communication or the delay. For a place that charges almost double the other shops in the area, they fail miserably in the customer service department. I will not return.
