How do you rate KIND and HELPFUL? Dakota stayed after close because we called 20 min before close on 4/12. Our car had a brake fluid light come up during our road trip and we had to urgently stop in South Bend because of it. Most all places were closing and despite closing time and no mechanics around Dakota offered to take a look for us. He identified the issue, offered some guidance and even looked up alternative brake fluid types for our car then directed us to Autozone. I hope someone reads this review and this place gets more business not only because of his kindness, but because it seems like they do good work too - hard to come by these days.

Our car needed some break work done and the employees here did a great job. Car runs and sounds great. As soon as my husband drove away after getting the car we got a flat tire and it was completely flat and done for we drove back ,thinking it was something that happened there. And one of the workers helped us right away and got us back on track:) thank you for helping us after such a crazy day!

My tire became flat and this particular CarX was the closest to go to. A worker named Dakota came out to the parking lot and saw my tire slowly loosing air. He instantly went into action of bringing my tire back to life.I am so grateful that he was there to help. He was sincere, kind, and caring that I didn't want to not acknowledge the positive customer service experience received that day.Thank you again Dakota for your willingness to assist me getting to my church conference.God Bless you!Service: Tires

Dakota was fantastic. I came in with an issue that he was able to resolve within about 5-10 minutes, and he gave me honest advice for the future of my car. I had a great experience and I'll continue to come back for their services!

I wasn't sure what the issue was with my Honda Pilot. They ran diagnostics, changed the timing belt, changed spark plugs, flushed the fluids, and fixed all my leaky tires! Car is doing amazing, and the price was fair. I love this place, will come to them for all my car needs!

They patched my tire up in less than 30 mins and were super friendly and attentive. I ll for sure be back when I need more servicing

Inspection was quick and honestly done. Affordable and fast repairs were made and will be returning to have everything fixed that they can do. The employees and management are friendly and knowledgeable and again honest. Haven't had mechanical work done this amazing in a very long time. Dave and his team are true and honest in their profession. My husband and I had our cars fixed here-- for brake lights and tire puncture, respectively. We will be back here for any needed vehicle repairs or service.

The front undercarriage of my Honda Civic came loose and was dragging on the roadway. As I was visiting from Chicago, I didn't have any idea where to go, so I looked up reviews and decided to come here. I'm so happy that I did! Ray fixed the issue within 15 minutes FOR FREE. When I insisted that he charge me something, he refused and we had a great conversation about how he came to South Bend from Chicago in the mid-80's, grew to love it, and how much his enjoyment of working on cars is keeping him from retirement. How I wish I had Ray in Chicago! If I ever need work on my car when I'm again in the Bend, I'll only go to Ray.

Oh my goodness, so nice! Driving through South Bend when my mom backed over rocks and took off my back bumper. My aunt lives in South Bend and highly recommended this Car X. So helpful and had us back on the road in minutes. Thank you!

Store manager Michael Tanner was very helpful when I come in to have a remote starter put on my car. They ordered the parts and had it installed I have had no issues. They were very thorough and courteous I will be going back there again.

I went in there today 8/22/22 to ask an estimate of my truck. The guy inside was somewhat busy in front of the computer or maybe his playing? I really don t know what he was doing????As soon as I entered in there tiny office I greeted this guy and I started talking to him regarding my truck. He was not that happy dude when I started talking to him as if I made his day miserable as I might be disturbed him from what his doing. In short.. he has attitude that maybe because I am not a white guy and looks no money for him. This type of worker should not be in there to deal with customers. I drove myself there early at 8 am to make sure people are on a happy mood but not this dude who is VERY RUDE!!!! I wish I am his name.As we talked, he sounds like knows everything and not getting my explanation to him of what happened to my truck. He just simply say Where is the truck!! Oh I can get estimate!! If you what, to your truck if you want me to do it!!! With very bad gestures while he s talking to me.I am not an expert mechanic but I knew a little bit and I am sire I knew it.But he is a very rude person that my day went turn to blue.I should give this review a ZERO but there s no option.I am nauseous to see this car repair shop when I see there signage going to work.For the guy I met this day 8/22/22, thanks for your rudeness and may you learn some good customer service if you have!

I used to love this place the guys were so great!! They would get me in fast!! I wouldn't go to any other place but now I will never use them again!!! The friendly guys got let go cuz of one rude customer that posted...One person ruins it for the rest of us!!! The guys never overcharged me and gave me the best option for my cars..yes I would bring any car I had straight to them but NEVER AGAIN!!!! It's sad they didn't deserve the treatment they got from this company!!! As this company owes so much money to every auto store around them they can't even shop around any more .. so just heads up they can't compare prices anymore cuz they can only use certain places to get there parts so u will not get the best price!!! Goodbye for good and yes I definitely will be telling my friends about this so they don't waste there time!!!Services: Tires, Brakes, Oil change

We took our truck in to replace the alternator and the alternator bracket. They could not find the part, so they said we could bring in our own parts and then they refused to fix it for a days after we brought in the parts. And they only did half the job before saying it was done. All this happened after new management came in.

I wanted to share our story. While we were coming back from PA (heading to WI) our car threw a fit and decided to shut down on I80. After getting help from the tow truck and State Patrol we ended at Car X. David C was such a down to Earth person. His demeanor made the situation less stressful and promised that he would look at our car first thing in the morning. (It was closing time when we got there). The next morning, he touched base with us, told us the problems and after getting the go a head to fix, had my car up and running again within 2 hours. We joked about seeing each other again and I said if I ever had to break down again, I hope it would be near his location. Thank you to everyone at Car X that got my car up and running so we could make it home safely. (My boys also wanted to thank you for the quarters so they could get gum...that was an added plus to wonderful service). God Bless and thanks again!

I have lived on close to this place practically most of my life and never thought about checking it out until today. Every staff member I met was very generous and honest and they did a full oil change on my car that I had bought from a private dealer just a day ago. They let me know all the problems I may deal with and gave me an estimate of what it would cost. Pretty much the best oil change I d ever had lol. I will definitely be coming back to this place to get maintenance done.

I've been having these guys do my oil changes since 2014! Wonderful work, very decently priced. I'm on a first name basis with most of them, especially Dave and Jay. They even told my husband I had to bring the baby to the oil change so they can meet her..shooshed anyone who came in and was noisy when she fell asleep saying "shhh the baby's asleep" it was awesome! I'll never go anywhere else!Service: Oil change

These guys were kind at first until they returned my vehicle to me with scratches down the driver side door. The team at Car-X was doing a routine oil change on my vehicle when they left the driver side door open while lifting up the car and it scratched through the paint aggressively. They accepted fault, asked me to get a quote for repairs, and said they would pay for it. Then the nightmare began. They ve dodged my phone calls, my insurance company s phone calls, and have been completely unresponsive for two years refusing to pay for the damages they caused. I am now out hundreds of dollars in repairs that I paid for and feel stupid for ever trusting these people in the first place. Character and accountability mean a lot to me and Car-X clearly displayed that they have none.

Dave and his guys did a wonderful job for me.I was traveling from New York to Minneapolis to visit my boys and had a horrible clunking sound coming from the back of the car. I've owned the car 8 days and was spooked. I thought I was looking at an expensive suspension problem. I stopped for the night and got a motel room.I showed up as they opened and explained my predicament. He was able to look at my car first thing and figured out it was just loose lug nuts and didn't charge me a thing.Sometimes we have runs of bad luck, and I was expecting the worst. The peace of mind I received at dropping off the car and knowing I'd be taken care of was worth a fortune.The fact that they took such good care of me, knowing that I'd probably never see them again, speaks volumes.I'd recommend them in a heartbeat.Thank you Dave.

I was introduced to this place sometime in 2002, when I was broke and driving a problematic car with many issues. The guys at this place were always helpful and understanding of my situation and went above to insure that my old car was always fixed. I received a lot of discounts many times and sometimes work was done for free.Fast forward today and I have several cars. I have continued taking my cars to this place and each time the work is excellent. Just today, I took in my Mercedes Benz for some customized muffler work and the results are just excellent.I highly recommend this place for the following reasons; in business for a long time with the same experienced technicians, reliable customer service and very honest when it comes to pricing, accurate diagnosis each time including how long the job will take and finally, the guys there treat you like family and a friend.

I brought my car in around 1pm on a Monday afternoon and the man who helped me was very kind, I think he realized how upset I was about having an issue with my car and he was quite comforting about it. I left my car with them to get it repaired. (I think my muffler rusted and broke in half, I can't really remember). By 3pm, I received a call letting me know my car was ready to be picked up. Considering the amount of cars in the shop and in the parking lot when I dropped it off, I was surprised by how quick my car was ready. The total repair cost was only $87 which was far less than I anticipated. My car went from being ridiculously loud while I was driving to practically silent. I'll definitely take my car here the next time I have an issue, everyone I interacted with was very kind!Service: General repairs & maintenance

After researching shops to have my brakes fixed I decided to give Midas of South Bend a try. Kelly was knowledgeable and made room for me for an inspection. The jobwas a little more than I had anticipated. Kelly showed me and explained in a way even i could understand what was going on and why the necessary replacement of a caliper. While I was waiting I had the opportunity to witness Kelly with a few customers who knew very little about cars like me get the Honest opinion from a man who knows his stuff! Thank you Kelly and to your guys who get the job done right the first time! I would recommend to anyone needing a service you offer to not pass up Midas of South Bend!!

The guys here were unbelievable! My muffler broke on the way to a fun day of pampering myself, on my one day off. Needless to say, that's not what you want. But, the situation was not all bad! They addressed the issue, explained the situation to me, and fixed it in way under the 45minutes they estimated! They also told me it would be no charge and that I should pay it forward! Wow!! What an amazing gesture after a not so amazing day! I highly recommend them for all your car needs!!! Thanks again guys - you literally saved the day!!!

30 year customer and have always had great service. Asked Dave if they would turn brake rotors for me and he said yes. Called me back 2 hours after I dropped them off and told me they were junk. Said they were too rusty to turn. These were OEM rotors off of a 2015 vehicle that only had 60k miles and had never been turned. They had minimal rust on them. Midas had no problem turning them. Wasted 2 hours of my time and did not appreciate getting lied to. Great way to lose a loyal customer.
