The service here is bar none. I took my vehicle in because of a slow leak. They identified that the run was slightly bent and were able to fix it. They are honest and not looking just to make money. Most other shops would have said that the rim needed to be replaced. The car drives so much more smoothly now. And, an added bonus was to get Frida, the resident Kitty. She was super sweet and was a great bonus addition to the shop!!! Customer service isn't dead!!

10/5 stars. They went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of. This is where I will be going, except for tires they are too expensive.. lol... but for everything else, yes.( I do wish they had cheaper tire options available then 180/pop, if I made more money I would pay what that because I really would rather go through them.)

This place is fantastic. My wife had been a long time customer when we lived in the area. Recently, my son had a tire blowout just down the road. While my son was getting a spare installed, I called Portage Tire, spoke with Jeff, and he made time in an otherwise busy day to find a tire, give me a complete pricing rundown with no upsell, and made sure they were ready when my son arrived. Living out of town from your kids is hard enough. Jeff and Portage Tire really helped us out when we needed it, and they've made a new customer! Thank you.

Needed to replace the battery in our 2019 Buick Encore. We first called Midas in Hobart and they quoted us $430+ for the battery and installation! We called Portage tire and auto and they installed a new battery and reprogrammed it for $181 out the door!! We asked for a quote for new tires. We were told we only needed new front tires as the back tires were still good. I love their honesty and quickness to help! We found our new auto repair place!! Jeff and his crew are lifesavers. Unfortunately I hit a large piece of wood going 80mph (a truck had initially run over it, causing it to enter my lane just as I was passing the truck) causing both of my driver s side tires to blow AND CRACKED MY RIMS! I called Portage Tire and Jeff told me he could have me in and out in 30 min. I had the car towed to his shop, and he took one look at the tires and realized I had 18inch Aftermarket rims and tires on the car (which I didn t tell him while speaking to him the first time). He called his distributor and had them bring that size tires within a few hours. After taking the tires off, they noticed the rims were damaged! He called his contact and that person came within 20 minutes and picked up the rims and within 24 hours I had two new beautiful tires and the rims were as good as new. He also called Enterprise for me and got a great price on a rental. He also went above and beyond to get me temporary rims just so I could get on the road as quickly as possible. He gave me a fantastic price when I picked up my car. The tires are balanced and he reassured me every step of the way. How lucky I was to find this place!! Please trust Portage Tire and don t go to Discount Tire!!! TRUST THESE GUYS!!!

Guys were very professional and took care of my car on time. I explained my situation with my car and they gave me an appointment for the very next day. While I was waiting for my car 3other customers talked very high about the owner, workers and place in general. I will recommend this place. The people at this place were friendly and kind. I had an issue with the way my car was driving and they did a test drive with me. Unfortunately, it might be a trans issue so they weren t able to help me at that moment. But they were able to point me in the right direction.

If I could give this business 10 stars I would. Traveling from eastern Iowa to eastern Indiana my brakes went bad. I stopped in Portage and started calling auto repair shops. This shop told me I could come and they would diagnose the problem. I thought brakes but I'm not a mechanic. Originally, they said they didn't have time to fix anything until next week. When I arrived It was obvious they had plenty of business. Rich took a ride with me, diagnosed the problem and then talked to Jeff, the owner. Rich fixed my brakes and brake lines. I was not charged any extra for the fast service. In less than two hours I was back on the road. I cannot express enough my thanks for these kind men who helped out a stressed traveler. You made my stress go away and got me to my destination in time for dinner. You are an A+ business. I would recommend you to anyone.

Took my Chevy Cruze here for a cat/manifold replacement and downstream o2 change so i could pass emissions. They were quick and honest. Best price in the area that i was quoted.I had to bring it back for an oil change that was overdue on my half to fix a 2nd issue that was unrelated to the first problem. Also quick job for them too!Was able to leave my keys and pay over the phone to pickup at a later time which was awesome as i work late every day.Overall great experience and good workmanship.Service: Exhaust

The owner of this shop is amazing! 4 days before Christmas and my Florida trip my fuel pump was going out on my truck. Not only did he squeeze me in but he found the part I needed and got my truck fixed in 2 days! This is the only place I will take my vehicles. They may not be the cheapest option but they are trustworthy. They get the job done correctly and stand behind their work. They also won't bs you and charge you for things that you don't need. That goes a long way with me! Honesty and intergretity is everything!! These guys are great. I have been in there shop almost daily for over a year now making deliveries and watching them take care of their customers. So when I needed a mechanic I could trust I knew these guys could do the job. Brought them my moms truck for brakes, oil change, and a new exhaust ( 2005 gmc with over 290,000 mile) They explained everything showed me where the noise was coming from and gave me some options. I liked their honest assessment and had them do the work. Now the truck drives great and no more embarrassing noise coming from it.Services: Exhaust, Brakes, Oil change

The quick and accurate diagnosis, service, and work were all excellent. Not only did they immediately spot what was wrong with our tires, they invited the whole family in for a tutorial on knowing if your tires are balanced. Was visiting the dunes from out of state when the dreaded check engine light came on. After checking with several different shops for quotes I settled on these guys at portage tire, and I am beyond thankful I did! This is a family run business that has been around for over 40 years who care about everyone that walks through their door! Best prices and knowledgeable service in the area by far, no bloated labor costs or pricey sales pushes these people just want to help get you back on the road.

Fred was very professional and friendly when I called to ask if someone was available to drive my car to check out an issue I was having with it. He mentioned they were short staffed and busy but he would take a look at the car that afternoon. I showed up at the time he gave me and he was ready to look at the issue. He discovered the problem before leaving the parking space and went back in the building to get what was needed. When we took the car for a drive it was performing better and I asked what did I owe and he said nothing. A simple quick fix and I was on my way. Awesome customer service. They do not take advantage of you.

This was my first visit to Portage Tire AND will NOT be my last. They were very quick to greet me when I walked in the office and very cheery. I needed to have my license plate changed and could not get the screws off myself, they immediately took my car back to a service bay. They took me back to the bay to explain what they were doing. Great customer service, very efficient knowledgeable. Will be back!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Great service. First time there 4 years ago regarding a suspected transmission problem. They confirmed it, plus there were other problems. Asked what it cost....expecting the worst....and Leon said, "Ma'am, I can't take your money. It's not worth it. If you have the money to pay for the repairs, you can buy a newer used car or use it as a good down payment on a new one." Wow. Someone not trying to screw me over. I ended up buying a new car. Great customer service. Honest. Caring. Great work. This is my second go to mechanic.

I have been a customer for 20 + years and can honestly say that they have been very helpful with my cars. I have a 2005 car that they have serviced since it was purchased in 2005. Are good at listening to my concerns and not taking me for granted because I am a woman. They keep my cars running in tip top shape.

I had gotten a hissing tire leak this morning on my truck on the way out of where we were camping. Discount tire has a wait until 6:00pm. The guys at portage tire (across the street) got it patched in an hour for a very good price, and I was even given a ride back to discount tire! This is the best service I have gotten in a long while!

I shopped around a little. Started at discount tire and got an idea of what my tires would cost. Then I went to portage tire and auto. They had better tires for significantly lower price. Gave them my key and got my car back shortly. Great speedy service with very polite professional people working on my car. Was very satisfied.

I have been here twice now, and I love these guys! Both times I came in, they were fast, courteous, and reasonably priced. I am 26 and female, and I went in alone, and they didn't try to up-sell me on anything or talk down to me. They are definitely my new go-to mechanics!

I tried to use this business a couple times and I never went through with them. I'f your car has a couple things wrong..they will either charge you very high to fix the issue or they won't mess with your car at all..they'll make you feel bad. So that'll be the last time I ever go there for anything!
