I trusted this shop to fix my check engine light that was on, biggest mistake I've ever made. After paying thousands to have parts replaced the mechanic said they've googled everything it could be and replaced those parts, if this last part doesn't take the engine light off he's done working on the car and he doesn't know what to tell me. Funny thing is I took it to the dealership and they diagnosed it right away and it wasnt the part that this auto shop said to replace next. Wish I could get my thousands of dollars back in parts I didn't need. Find a reputable mechanic that won't drain your pockets and lie to you about what your car needs.Update: dealership found this I needed a fuel filler neck which this shop never mentioned also this shop gave me a faulty purge valve so all the other repairs weren't necessary. When I called to mention this the front desk lady had attitude and said that I should've brought it back for them to fix it and I told her I did previously and they said I needed the other part. She then started to have worse attitude and I told her I wanted something done guess what SHE HUNG UP. Also purge valve was not on secure they cut the rubber where it was supposed to go, so I can't even have it put in the right spot now, they didn't use brackets to mount it either so it was barely on there about to fall off. This shop is a joke.

Bad experience. Had a part put on and it was the wrong part. Because of that it broke the ax Parts were put on wrong and now I need complete new parts from the place was only done about a month and a half ago doesn t matter if I did not warrant the part they put on the wrong parts knowingly charge me 200 and now I need brand new parts would not go to these guys

Went in and came out with everything I needed and a free oil change, thanks! I was without a vehicle for 2 days because the wrong part was ordered. The communication and urgency to finish were a plus. In February I got my car checked they said I needed brakes and couple others done. The man that worked on my car didn't tighten the lug nuts on my tire. While driving with my kids and mother the tire broke all studs on my tire and flew off behind me. I was going 75 on 65 and thank God no one was behind me. I have major engine shield problems now pieces keep falling off from under my car. This keeps getting worse and worse.. please NO ONE TAKE YOUR CAR HERE....

The mechanics there know what they are doing. If they don't have an answer for you they will find it. Maria drove me home and picked me up when my car was ready. She went to bat for me to get my costs covered due to problems caused by another automotive servicer. I am very pleased with their services and will return to them for any future services.

This is now my second time taking my car there. First time was to replace a catalytic converter and the second time was to replace a radiator. Both jobs were far less expensive than taking it to the dealership. They also were done very quickly as well. The radiator was done same day that I called it in. The catalytic converter had to be called in a day early so they could get the parts needed but the work was completed in one day. I was a bit skeptical when I first walked into the lobby(which is no frills and dated) but after two very positive experiences, I would highly recommend them.

Called they said no wait free break inspection, I could schedule a appointment or just come in, get here and no free break inspection and want me to leave my truck, oh and no scheduling for another time.Not sure I can trust them.

Terrible business and the owner lacks accountability. I was out of the country for 8 days and they had my vehicle for battery repair. When I pulled up I noticed the sunroof was open and the car was completely soaked. The owner stated " it was not there responsibility to makensure the inside didnt get wet. My heated leather seats, heated steering wheel, dashboard and electronics were wet and all she cared about was getting us to sign a waiver of liability. I will never use this place again!

American Brake has turned out to be the best place I've ever taken my vehicles. The staff are very pleasant and knowledable. They have provided services well below the competitors. Highly recommend

My mechanic said I needed a front end alignment & so I came in and paid $95 . Employee was very professional and let me know of issue with brakes. I'll return for alignments again

Exhaust work can be expensive but they did a nice job on my daughters GTI. They were open the day after 4th of July when everyone else was closed. They were courteous and got the job done before the end of the day. Will use them again.

If I could give a half a star I would tried this place 3 times!!! All three the mechanic had the worst attitude.One example is that my exhaust still leaks cuz he was in a rush an didn't understand what I had asked.And just went there for a front-end alignment told me an hour on the phoneGet there with enough time to be told no it will take longer then that with ur vehicle.Well why didn't you say that when I called!?Horrible place

Very friendly staff and mechanics. They never over charge for the work and always let you know if something else pops up when they're working.We're a one car family so I always have to wait or walk home. The waiting room has a TV, and a bathroom. They used to have a coffee maker, but COVID made it disappear. If you don't want to wait you can easily walk to Aldi, Dollar Tree, Family Express, Big Lots, Great Wall Buffet . . . tons of places.I absolutely recommend them and won't go anywhere else in town.

After sitting in their waiting area for three hours, they told me I d have to leave my vehicle overnight because they had the wrong parts for the brakes. They offered me a ride home, but I declined and had my wife come get me. Price seemed fair.

they installed my lift kit on my pick up and did an excellent job marked bolts so you can see if any backoff when looking at the finished job you can see quality work and lady at the counter was very nice mechanics very knowledgeableI would recommend this place to everyone *****Service: Steering & suspension repairService: Steering & suspension repair

I had some brake work done that costed 500$ and they said it was fixed on the phone n i payed them n then when i go to leave the brakes were the same the peddle went to the floor n the "mechanic" gave me a buncha excuses but the lady said everything was fixed and she kept calling me to get me to let them "fix" other things that had nothing to do with y i brought my truck there in the first place they are bad ppl that do really bad buisness

Honest hardworking knowlegable mechanics that are professional and know what they are doing.I been going to this shop for over 11 yrs i have NEVER been let down.When they get to know your automobile your car or truck is treated like familly.Always going the extra mile NEVER a rip-off.I always go here to get my new cars fixed up and the work they do always last till i get another car.I will come to this shop till i die or they go first.And the boss lady knows her stuff too you rarely see a female who knows about cars and trucks like her.Her top 2 mechanics and her has been there for many years.I dont let NOBODY touch my car or give me me advice but American Break and Muffler on route 6 ONLY.This is the best American Break and Muffler shop of American Break and Muffler shops in Lake and Porter Counties period.Services: Transmission, Exhaust, Tires, Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Auto engine tuning, Wheel alignment, Brakes, Oil change
