My tire popped and I was stranded on the highway. No more than 20 minutes later, a knight in shining armor showed up on a tall white horse. Scratch that, the owner showed up in a big truck and helped me get my tire off. It was stuck on there tight. Real tight. If I could rate him 10/5 I would. Very fast and very friendly.

Regardless of the bad reviews you see, I had a VERY positive experience with sparks. I was in and out within about 2 hours. Spoke to with respect and understanding which is hard to come by now and days. My car is running like a dream without breaking the bank to dramatically. I would recommend sparks.

My experience happened about 5 years ago, but honestly at the time I was too mad to write a civil review...so here goes:I had an issue where my car would start and then shut off (button start) and Sparks told me there was an issue with my car's computer chip and that they couldn't get it to start at all now. It would cost $800 to replace. Trusting them, I told them to go ahead and replace it. A couple days later I get a call that my car had been hit in a hit and run while in their possession. They actually parked my car in the next door hotel parking lot OFF THEIR OWN PROPERTY. I drove over after work to see my car, but they had already driven it away to another body shop without telling me what they were doing. I talked to the hotel staff the next day to see if there was camera footage. They didn't have camera footage, but they told me they had already to Sparks to stop parking their overflow in their parking lot. Fast forward to when I came to pick my car up and it didn't start. They ended up jumping the battery, which I suspect was the reason they thought the computer was bad, when it was really just a low battery. Eventually about a month later (I didn't drive this car often) I was still having the intermittent issue of the car shutting off after trying to start. So they didn't fix my problem, and also got my car hit while in their posession. Trying not to make this write-up too long, but there was also an issue with the plastic under the front bumper that they didn't really fix the way they said they would. In my experience, Sparks showed complete incompetence and immoral business practices. I would never trust them again.

I can t put negative stars but I used to take my vehicles to Keith at Sparks believing they had my best interest in mind, boy was I wrong!! I wound up getting duped for thousands for work that was never done, most times my vehicle wasn t even looked at and just sat there while Keith keeps telling more lies such as waiting on parts, found another issue, the excuse list is massive ! I m not the only person that this has happened to looking through these reviews and speaking with other customers that got scammed by Keith. I can t advise enough to stay away from sparks and Keith Johnson !Services: Transmission, Electrical repair, Tires, Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, A/C installation & repair, Brake service & repair, Oil change

Honestly if I could give this place zero stars I would. They have had my car for almost 2 years and have never looked at it like they said they did. But yet I was told by Keith my car runs like a dream now. I am still trying to get my car that has been destroyed by sitting outside in the weather for this long. Always been in the garage. Still getting the run around and since they got rid of the old manager still have NEVER received a phone call. My sunroof leaks and I had it covered when I dropped it off 2 years ago and randomly had checked on it and fixed it. But they always seemed to have taken it off. So now my interior is shot and the new people who came in said that s not their problem. I AM gonna be your problem. I have been nice for 2 years and no I am not gonna be told to watch my mouth. Like your new guy said you have 50 cars just like mine sitting there for that long not getting fixed. This is just the beginning Service: Electrical

I've been doing business with Sparks for several years Keith and his team are good honest guys and can take care of the most technical issues you have with your vehicle. If you are looking for a garage than can get your car done overnight this might not be your place because they are very busy and have loyal customers. There is a reason they are busy and that's because they are great at what they do and they are definitely worth the wait. Once you understand and accept how they operate, you'll be a loyal customer as well. Thanks for all you've done Sparks and team.

A car repair without compare. Sparks has excellent customer service despite being a busy repair shop, not only do they treat you and your car with respect they go above and beyond. They even called my warranty for me to help me not be taken advantage of. Keith the man who helped me out was kind and polite through the whole process. My car had a lot to fix and he helped me figure out what needed fixed to get my car up and running again. Thank you Keith and Sparks Computerized Car Care!Services: Electrical repair, General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Vehicle Inspection, General repairs

My husband took his truck to Sparks because his engine kept stalling. Keith told him that he knew for sure what the problem was and that the TIPM needed to be replaced. The next week he said that now they had figured out that it needed a new fuel injector, then it was a wire harness, then two more fuel injectors, then some other part. They had my husband's truck for 38 days and did not fix or replace anything on the truck, even though the manager, Keith, assured my husband that they were "doing a lot of extra repairs" for no extra charge. Finally my husband showed up at Sparks and demanded a refund since no work had been performed on the truck. Keith tried to say that he didn't know for sure how to do the refund and fumbled around with the computer. We did end up getting a refund, but for over 5 weeks, Keith continually strung us along and lied about all kinds of repairs that he never had any intention of making. Do yourself a favor and find another mechanic if you actually want your vehicle to get fixed.

Went in for an oil change and they tried to tell me I had over $5000 worth of repairs. Took it to another shop and the repairs were only $400 which was basic brake maintenance on my Chevy Blazer. I only went to Sparks because they had a coupon for an oil change. I still have the paper in my filing cabinet of all the repairs they said I needed. This left me emotionally distraught until I got a second opinion. Not sure how they are still in business as this happened quite a few years ago. They are still doing the same kind of shady dealings though. Save your money and go elsewhere.Service: General repairs

We have had many issues with our car as after we had it for 3 months, it was discovered (By Sparks) that it had water damage that had not been disclosed at the time of purchase. Keith and his staff went FAR AND ABOVE our expectations. We had to be patient as it took awhile because of the issues, but ultimately, it has been repaired. Keith was as kind as they come and easy to work with. Thank you for all of your help!!

I've been putting this off, but it's finally time to do this, and I would give them zero stars if I could. Took my car in back in March, and they said I needed a new timing chain which would take 6-8 weeks. After a couple months I checked in, and they said I needed a whole new engine, but they were going to cover the cost of that. Really made it seem like they were doing me a favor. Then they said I needed a new transmission, which they were also going to cover the cost of. Then I was waiting for weeks because they needed someone to come and program these new installations with my computer system. After 4 1/2 months, I had a different mechanic go to their lot to do the programming. Not only had they not replaced my engine or transmission, they never even replaced the timing chain. They just took some things apart, did zero work, and lied to me continuously about things they claimed to have done for months. So if you want to be without your vehicle for an insane amount of time while they do zero work on it and constantly be lied to, Sparks is the place for you!

I have had multiple horrible experiences with Sparks! This was an experience where a female was taken advantage of hoping incomplete service was not found. I supposedly got all my breaks changed and a caliper replaced after it got stuck post break installation. I had a antifreeze tank get changed and later a leak turned up. I took my car back to sparks multiple times because of my warranty of service . Needless to say only a few months later my leak was found by Cadillac thank goodness my front breaks had to get changed by someone else (because they were not changed the first time by sparks) and I had to get the same caliper replaced( it was not replaced by sparks only unstuck proven because it was still the original part as were the others)! I am out double the money because I have had to pay for multiple services by other Companies to get my car fixed. Sparks was incredibly busy during this time and if they could not have properly serviced my vehicle then Keith should have admitted that prior to taking on my new service. I will never be back again and have passed this along to others!!!Service: Brake service & repair

Happy with the service we receive. Definitely a will continue coming back for all my vehicle repairs.ETA on 2-16-22: I have taken my vehicle to be worked on and my daughters vehicle for some more work it needed and they have done a great job on our vehicles and I am very happy with the work they have done! I hope Keith knows how much we appreciate his help with our vehicles! Thank you so much!Took my daughter's car there for replacement of ball joints, inner and outer tie rods and brakes and rotors. Decently priced. Keith even replaced a brake caliper and the two front tires and a spindle that was cracked at no extra charge. He wanted to make the car as safe as possible for my daughter and granddaughter. Thank you so much for everything!

As a ball state student far away from home I needed a trustworthy and efficient auto shop to fix up my car. At Sparks I got all that and more! Customer service is unmatched and the prices are very fair. I really appreciate how honest, understanding, and knowledgeable Keith was. He was completely transparent when explaining the issue with the car, how it would be repaired, and the cost to do so. Also they offer a student discount which is always a bonus! I would happily go back, 10/10 recommend!

We bought our used RAV4 2015 car based on great car inspection at Sparks Auto. There were issues with codes. Keith told us to test drive our car 50 miles and he said he will not take money until we find a good car. We drove 50 miles and turned out all codes were gone. We have made a great purchase so far. Thank you to Keith and Spark! Great service!

Absolute nightmare to work with. First time they changed my power steering pump, tried to tell me my alternator was fried and locked up. Only smoked cause they spilled power steering fluid on it. Then two days later the hose blows off, they didn t tighten the compression fitting. Take it back for another leak. Have my truck for 3 weeks. Continually lie to me telling me they have my truck in looking at it. After calling and being lied to for 3 weeks go get my truck, they never even touched it. Take it home tear it apart, they didn t tighten the hardline the first time. Icing on the cake he can t find my keys for 20 minutes, get to my truck and my spare 2016 Lariat rim is stolen out of my bed. Should shut this place down immediately!Service: Auto engine diagnostic

I had a bad experience at Sparks Auto Service on Bethel Ave. in Muncie, Indiana today, June 17, 2022. I had made an appointment for 8:30 AM and was told to expect an hour for the visit. I did not get out of there until 10:18 AM. There was no apology for the long wait.Additionally, I left with an uneasy feeling about this visit. I had gone inside to inquire about what the mechanic was meddling with under my car when all I was getting done was an oil change. The answer that came back to me was that he was trying to get to the filter. Really, with a large wrench? I am no stranger to changing oil in an automobile and have changed the oil in this car by myself since I purchased it. Something seemed off with what I was seeing. The mechanic kept looking to see if I was watching. Furthermore, don't assume the fluid will be topped off. That didn't happen either. I have been under my car twice since arriving home to check for any damage or missing parts. A customer should never have to drive away with these concerns.I do not recommend Sparks Auto Service.John ButlerResponse to Keith's Comments: What does being a veteran and using a coupon have to do with any part of my experience at Sparks? Does having a coupon translate to a different level of service? Was there a quid pro quo attached to the coupon? I stated my honest opinion based on my observation of the unconventional means being or about to be used to change the oil in my car. People who are knowledgeable about their own vehicles are definitely more observant about what a mechanic is doing to their car. Furthermore, you managed to confirm with the language and tone of your written response what some others have expressed intheir reviews about your questionable customer service demeanor. And, you betcha, this Veteran will not be seen at Sparks Auto Service again.

Sparks has always done an awesome job with any vehicle I or my family has brought to them. If I need a big job I can't do myself I will always bring it to him. Though sometimes they can be super busy, but that's because they usually get alot of customers, but their quality of work has always been beyond excellent as well as the price for the work. And if somethings still wrong after it's originally done he has always made sure it's fixed guaranteed.

While my daughter was away at school, I had her take her car to Sparks for repair. I was happy with the communication between both parties while the car was being checked out, but then communication began to fall apart. The repair taking longer to complete than the quoted time was only the first issue. The quoted price was north of $800 but if it was going to get my daughter back on the road safely, small price to pay. Being a concerned parent, when my daughter returned home for a school break, I thought I d check out the work that Sparks had done. I was shocked to see that the work that they had charged me for had not been completed. They not only didn't complete the work, 80% of the parts that were charged to me were not installed. I had to go through my credit card company to dispute the charges, I also had to go to a local repair location to confirm the lack of service. I did get my money back and Sparks said "sorry for the mistake" but if I wouldn't have checked their work, I'd be out the funds and my daughters car wouldn't be repaired.Service: General repairs

**AVOID THIS PLACE** You have been warned! Took my car there for a repair they said they could complete - which never happened. Keith made me pay up front for parts and the parts were ordered. The problem was he was trying to fix something that was not even the issue! Car was there for about 3 weeks and he always had an excuse for why the work had not been completed and that his team found something else that was wrong. I ended up having a service pick up the car and take it to a different repair shop that fixed the issue in less than 2 days. Keith also told me multiple time he would issue me a refund, which of course never happened. After the 3rd time I called for a refund I had had enough and filed a fraud complaint with my credit card company - they issued me a refund.Service: General repairs

We discovered Sparks about 6 months ago and we have had a wonderful experience with them! They fixed up our "lemon" of a Dodge Caravan and now it runs like new! They have also done an amazing job on our 98 Cherokee which came with its own set of issues. They guarantee all of their work, of it wasn't done right, they will fix it. I was also impressed with the price of their work, they are extremely fair in their labor and parts and have even thrown in some "little extras" at no extra cost. I highly recommend Sparks and tell everyone I can about them.

I ve used Sparks for lots of services since my time in Muncie (2 years now), and I ve been very disappointed with the quality of service. No one calls to give you updates you have to continuously call them and service takes WEEKS most times. It s possible they take on more business than they can handle, but I prefer they just be honest about it. They always have an excuse like a part hasn t come in. But I ve never waited as long for my car to be repaired at any other shop. They also always claim they re giving you a huge discount, to the point that it s not believable. As soon as they give a quote, they ll always say it s half the charge or something to that effect, but it s always been expensive, in my experience. And they offer no additional discount or anything for taking much longer than estimated to repair your car.I also once had them tell me to bring my car back if the issue wasn t fixed, because they weren t sure they d fixed it. While I appreciate that they were offering to fix my car for free if the issue persisted, if I leave my car at a shop for a week or more, I expect them to be fairly certain the issue is taken care of.Most of all, the professionalism is the biggest issue. I ve used Sparks many times, and I always get the sense that excuses are being made/I m being lied to. Just be upfront about what you charge and how long it will take.Services: Steering & suspension repair, Wheel alignment

I would not recommend Sparks to anyone. I was taken advantage of by Keith s manipulation, and was almost robbed $700. Their meddling with my car posed risk to my car breaking down further, and the danger of me being stranded 17 miles away from home in the middle of the night.I took my car in to get maintenance done on it. One of the things they did was flush my coolant. The next evening, on my way home from work, my car overheated and steamed up, so I figured something was wrong with my coolant. I made it home okay without the car overheating again (thankfully, because I had a long commute and I work until midnight). Sparks looked at it the next day and quoted me about $700 because the coolant Y tube was cracked, and needed replaced. This was about mid-April when they quoted me this.We got very suspicious after my father in law said that a Y tube on a Subaru is not plastic and was made to not break. Also, if you google them, they are only worth about $30. My husband called them and questioned them about this. Keith tried to explain that the Y tube does have a plastic part, which is the part that cracked. When my husband asked why they are quoting us for so much on a $30 part, he got flustered and upset and said, "you know what? Your wife can come back in and get her money back. As a matter of fact I would like her to go somewhere else form now on. Have a blessed day." And that was the end of that conversation. My husband and I then went back to Sparks to get our money back. As I gave him my debit card for the refund, he said, "we'll fix it for free." My husband and I both felt like something wasn't right. Keith then began to thank my husband for confronting him. Keith said that after their call, he got to thinking, and decided to question Tom Woods Subaru about the cost of the item. Keith then stated that Tom Woods was wrong and gave him the wrong price for the item. He apologized for the issue and showed us the "real price" to be about $450. My husband and I played along even though we knew the real price was $30 just to get out of there. Keith said that he could refund us our money, and that we could bring our car in on Monday to get the car fixed. He said that every day until then, I would have to stop by and get the coolant checked and refilled. I felt that they thought I didn't know how to do that right on my own, which is pretty funny, because I do. My husband and I agreed to not go back, and that I would check my coolant on my own and fill it up as needed. The first trip after that, I made one trip to work (40 minutes), and was discouraged to find that the coolant was very low. I filled it up to "full" and drove back home. Before I left for work the next day, it was still full. I checked it every day and the coolant level did not go down ONE BIT for a week until I took it to Midas. I told Midas everything that had happened. They checked the coolant pressure and found out that there was NO LEAK at all in the Y tube! They even showed me, and that is when I had my proof that Sparks was trying to steal almost $700 from us! It has been almost 3 months and my coolant level is still at full, and never needed to be refilled. I trusted Keith because I knew he had a daughter, so I assumed he cared about women, but he is very deceiving, and very manipulating. He tries to make you think he is nice and generous, but in real life he only wants to take your money.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

My check engine light came on just as I was about to head home, three states away. After visiting an Auto Zone, I was recommended to Sparks care, and from the moment I stepped inside I was surrounded by hospitality and knowledge. The gentleman behind the counter not only took down my information so that the car could be seen, but also physically showed me what the issue was on a diagram, which not being a car guy, I appreciated and it gave me a sense of security that I would make it home safely.I was initially discounted when I saw each of the bays was occupied, but was surprised at how quickly I was able to get in and worked on.I am grateful to the crew at Sparks for their knowledge, capabilities, and timely diligenceServices: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, General repairs
