Worst service ever. They fix thing on your vehicle's that dont even need repair. No competent mechanic to work on cars/ trucks. 200 dollars just to look at you vehicle, no work just look and refer to to another shop. Very poor service never purchasing another vehicle from there or taking cars for service.

I was told by dealership that I had to get my car serviced by Shaver for my expenses to be covered by warranty. I called beforehand to make sure (I live 30+ miles away) and was told the same thing. After being forced to take off work and drive a dangerous car all that way, I arrived to find that I would not be covered and would be charged by the HALF hour. I told them I googled what was wrong and it turned out that almost everyone with my car experiences what was happening to mine at the time (losing power to the dash/ service stabili track warning, etc.) They laughed and ignored me. After a few hours of waiting for some answers, they hand me my keys back saying they couldn't find anything wrong with my car even though the check engine and other lights were on leaving the shop. I took it to a dealership less than a mile from my place later on in the week, where they fixed the problem within an hour, doing what I had suggested to Shaver, at no cost to me. Shaver Preferred Auto Repair cost me hundreds of dollars including the work I missed, not to mention the hours of time I was stranded in their waiting room for absolutely no reason. I am so much worse off for getting involved with this company. Would not recommend.

DON'T BUY A CAR FROM HERE!!!!!!!!!Originally I was so pleased with their service that after we bought my fiancee's 2008 Dodge Caravan that I bought myself a 2010 Ford Explorer. This turned out to be the biggest mistake of my life and has put my family in danger. Below is our experience with both vehicles. I urge anyone with similar issues to message me a detailed statement because I will be looking in to taking legal action.2008 Dodge Caravan- 1 year and 8,000 after purchaseBrought back on 3 separate occasions for issues with the powersteering. Each time they claimed to have fixed the problem but it still malfunctions. After the last time we refused to bring it back. The powersteering went out on a wet curvy road and the van went into the oncoming lane with my children in the car. Had there of been traffic in the other lane I may have lost my family that night.Dvd system did not work even though we were told it did.Radio malfunctions and oddly enough if you plug your phone in to charge it makes the radio go to static.Check engine light keeps coming onOil pan is leaking and is apparently being secured with a "temporary drain plug".Radiator and hoses was just replaced.2010 Ford Explorer- 1 year and 3000 miles after purchase.RPM dash light is burnt out.Driver side window on occasion won't roll down.On occasion the sun roof leaks.Underneath truck is completely covered in spray paint to hide rust damage.Front axel seals are bad.Rear differential is water logged and completely shot.After our experience with the Carvan. I absolutely refused to bring my Explorer back to Shaver and I'm so happy I made that choice. Upon inspection Kevin at Knight Automotive (recommend to anyone, great guy) diagnosed the rear differential was completely shot. He said he was amazed to find the differential was completely filled with water. This is next to impossible unless it was submerged in water. I have only had the car for a year and only put 3000 miles on it. I live in Crown Point. There has not been any floods. So I did some research and pulled up my Explorers information on MYCARFAX. My Explorer came from Marquette Michigan. Which it literally right on the lake and a few blocks from a pier. I'm willing to bet any money the previous owner probably went to back his boat in to the water and submerged the differential causing the damage. Shaver claims all vehicles are inspected prior to being sold. Granted I didn't expect them to fully disassemble the differential for inspection but a simple check of the differential fluid would have been a clear indication that there was a problem.I spoke with Mr. Shaver he was very understanding in me wanting a separate location to inspect my vehicle and was willing to pay $1500 of the $2000 worth of damages in which I was much obliged for. However after a week of waiting for an adjuster to come out my claim was denied and I'm being stuck with the bill. The warranty company is claiming my damage is not coverered. I am now responsible for damages that I could not have possibly done to my vehicle.Mr Shaver, your company has put my children in danger and now you're taking $2000 away from them. I ask you one last time to please make this right.

Great work always on my car..Just pull up and they will get you right inEven with the pandemic going on they still take care of there customers and there safe.

I went to them for an oil change, brake replacement and a burned brake bulb. They did a good job but they did charged me over $700 for that. WTF?$38 to replace a bulb?

I am so lucky to find this repair shop. My car broke down on my way back from Indiana and I needed some serious help, these guys stepped up and helped me get back on the road quick!

Unreal bad service,no kindness to customers once they have you're car in their hands and in their shop, you're business and money is all about the buck,i was about to call the police,purchase a vehicle with a bad transmission,and it was sent to them the next day the vehicle was purchase,it had not even been 24 hours,they pulled a quick inspection scam,said the transmission was good,fill the transmission back up,then send her on her way,but there was still an issue it had a leak,they said you can not put 3,000 on their vehicles in 3 weeks,they called abused to a automobile,i was truly just out done with that diagnostic,if I buy a car in finance,the day I buy it,i should be able to drive from the Midwest to Florida and then to California,only if I wish to do so,the auto repair shop is full of garbage,it should be called Do Not Perfferred Auto Repair,so if they get over on a yoing lady,please don't let the elders and young adults do business without a professional mechanic

Bad service. Liars couldnt keep promise time on rack and pinion in jeep. Had to leave for days. When they said it would be done same day.

I took my vehicle, there for a simple problem, taken it back twice, because of problems they caused, vehicle still there over a month, i pass by every day, vehicle parked in back, like its abandoned, total lack of respect, no communication, filing small claim this week,
