Outstanding folks to work with. I do almost all my own automotive work and hate taking my car to a shop for anything, but I needed my A/C Freon recovered safely so that maybe one day my kids will meet a polar bear. They were honest, affordable, and they didn't treat me like I was clueless.

Dan and Carol are the two greatest people to work with for any and all repairs that you are in need of. These two will go to the ends of the earth to make sure you are taken care of. Dan is very upfront and honest, he will never take advantage of your situation for profit, as a mechanic he is very knowledgeable and will guide you diligently through the repair process and answer every question with respect and confidence. He does all his work to the best of his and his crew s ability and when the work is done he makes sure you understand every aspect and detail of the hard work they put into your vehicle. Carol is the bright happy face at the forefront of the business, she will greet you as soon as you walk through the door and help you with anything that you need.I have and will always recommend Dowell Automotive for everything in relation to your vehicle needs. Dan Dowell might be the last truly honest guy left in the auto repair business. He and his staff have always done right by me and my vehicles. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and trustworthy. First Thing i would like to say is that this shop is AWESOME!!! i work for the wabash center and was having trouble with my main delivery trucks and after a few other places that we called the people at Dowell Automotive was nice enough to fit me in there busy schedule this was also late on a monday and needless to say they had the truck done by wednesday and i was back on the road !! very nice staff like they have known you for years. all the techs are good at what they do for sure !! i would recommend for all your needs ..in the future they will be my first call .. 5 stars are not enough they are for sure a 10 star company..Service: Auto engine diagnostic

One of the most honest mechanics I have ever met. Took my vehicle in to get the engine rebuilt, fully expecting and prepared for the large cost associated. They did a diagnostic on it first an it turned out to be a small issue that was fixed quickly and very cheaply. The engine now runs fantastic. He is quite busy sometimes, but that is because the work he does is very good. Very highly recommend, will be the only place I will every take my vehicle from now on!

It's too bad I cannot give Dan and the staff ten stars, I have taken 3 different vehicles to Dowell Automotive for service over the years, the work they do is exceptional and in my humble opinion the prices were reasonable and fair, I've never left Dowell Automotive feeling cheated or taken advantage of. Customer service on one of the vehicles Dan and the staff went above and beyond my expectations (thanks guys) I don't care if one of Dan's competitors were offering free service I would still pay the money and take my vehicles to Dowell Automotive and have the work done correctly. Automotive repair shops are like Doctors and Dentists once you find a good one you don't switch nobody works on my vehicles but Dowell automotive, I trust them completely and I don't trust anyone.

Dan and the team at Dowell Automotive are great. My son is a student at Purdue and his car broke down. I am not local to Lafayette so I was not sure where to start in getting my son's car repaired. Dowell helped me get in contact with a local towing company and they worked to fit us in the schedule. Back on the road and extremely grateful for their service. Thanks so much for your help!

The entire team at Dowell Automotive Repair was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. They saved me from buying a couple dud vehicles which would ve cost thousands in repairs. Highly recommend!

I brought my F250 with a 6.0 Powerstroke to Dowell and they did a great job. Four new injectors and a laundry list of other stuff and the truck is running great. Very reasonable on prices too. Thanks Dowell!!

Got a quote from the local VW Dealer on performing my 30k Service on my VW Golf and seemed a little high so after some searching on the web came across Dowell Automotive. Called in to get a quote on what the dealer would have been doing for my service. Dan was awesome he asked me a couple questions about my vehicle and then told me he would give me a call back in a few minutes with a quote no other place that I called even asked me about my vehicle. It was considerably cheaper than at the dealer and ended up coming in under the quote that he had initially given me. After asking them to check out my front brakes which were squealing a bit, Sean the tech that worked on my car told me me that the brakes would function fine but if the squealing started to get super annoying we would need to replace the front brakes with stock pads since the dealer that I had purchased the vehicle from had went cheap on the pads. I will definitely be bringing my car back to Dowell Automotive.

My car broke down, and I had it towed to Dowell. Within a few hours they called and were honest with me that there were several issues and it probably was not going to be worth the cost of fixing it. They easily could have played the game where they fix one problem and 'find' another one along the way until I ended up paying for all of the repairs, but they didn't, and for that I am grateful. I plan on using Dowell for any of my future repair needs.

As someone who knows very little about cars, I have always been very wary about trusting a shop with my vehicles. That being said, I cannot imagine taking my car anywhere else after this. The work they do is stellar and they are so honest with me about their processes and prices. They always explain what they are seeing and what needs to be done. They really go above and beyond. I trust them completely and that is saying alot coming from me.
