If I could give Car-x less than one star, I would because they are a scam. Don't waste your time or money here; you will only leave with more problems than you started with.Some back story:Nine months ago, I came in to have my motor mount and transmission mount replaced. It took a total of 12 days for them to complete the job. They told me that the first shipment that had the parts was lost, then they forgot to order the transmission mount. It took a total of three shipments to get everything that they needed, despite the parts being common and easy to find. Lastly, they overcharged me by quite a lot. The total part cost can be anywhere from $200 to $300; they charged me $2,000. My warranty covered a majority of the cost, but they still wanted me to pay for the MSPR difference. When I asked for documentation for all of the services, they struggled to come up with a list. It took them 20 minutes of sifting through hand written sticky notes to make an itemized list. They are unorganized and unprofessional.Now 9 months later, I have had the same issue of my engine shaking when idle. I went to a different repair shop, and they said that 2 out of the 3 motor mounts need to be replaced. It has only been 9 months since car-x's repair; engine mounts are supposed to be good for 5 to 7 years. The second shop said that car-x either: did not replace the motor mount, used cheap parts, or did not install it properly. I called car-x and they said "we will fix it for free and we'll go ahead and order the parts. Bring it in first thing next week, and we will do the repairs."Tuesday rolls around and I drop off my car. First thing they say to me, we can't look at it today but we'll get it done by tomorrow. So I call on Wednesday asking if my car is ready. The manager says, "no it slipped my mind. The dealership hasn't called us back, so we don't have the parts." It is now Thursday. I call them and get the same explanation that they don't have the parts they were supposed to order a week ago. My patience had reached its limit, so I went ahead and picked my car up from them. They never did the repair; my car was still in the same parking spot three days later. I called customer service and left a complaint. That did nothing.I will make it my personal mission to discourage anyone I know from going to Car-X. Do not waste your time, money, or patience on this excuse of a business. You will leave with way more problems than what you started with.Attached is a picture of the transmission mount that they supposedly replaced 9 months ago. The rubber is cracking and falling apart; this was causing my engine to shake. Probably causing more damage to the engine.

The customer service in this place is amazing. They did a good job to accommodate me short notice and resolved my problem quickly and at a reasonable cost. Karlen at the front desk is very friendly. He explained the repairs that were done to the car and talked through the options that I have going forward. If you are in Lafayette I definitely recommend giving them a chance.

Really good experience - had an appointment to get brakes worked on. The quoted amount was accurate and well-priced. Karlen at front desk was awesome and helpful. Had all the work done within the day.

Driving through Indiana and I had car troubles. Car-X was one of the only places open on a Saturday and they made time to look at my car and get me on my way. Extremely thankful for their shop and the kind service! They went above and beyond and if I m in IN again, I ll make sure to stop by for service

Do not make reservations online. No one tells me if your reservation works or not. I came to the reserved time and was told that it is a request not reservation!!! The price is also higher than other shops. They cannot repair small issues but regular maintenance. Do not recommend.

Full synthetic oil change coupon is MISLEADING. Guys did good work and very nice, will go back. But the coupons sent by the company in the mail are UNTRUE. CarX corporate should NOT send these coupons out.

My experience at Car-X was 15/10!! They were so quick to help me out, explained everything, and provided excellent service! Definitely will be returning for any future auto needs.

Terrible experience for car maintenance.No oil change option, if you wanna do that, you must choose the maintenance package and it costs me almost 100 dollars. So bad!!!!!And the worker just did the oil change and tire rotation for about 6 hours, can you believe it? Because he has to answer the phone call and customer walk in even though he is busy with my car.Definitely won t come again.

On the phone people sounded very nice so I decided to go with them to change my car breaks. However, I was disappointed with their professionalism. I do not question their mechanical skills cause I don t not know it, because my car breaks we re not changed 2 times I dropped my car for 7 hrs each day. Both days made an appointment and explained why I need my car to be in the shop for certain time frame. They did not call a single time to give me an update, each time I had to call and ask if they got the chance to work on my car. If you could not have a time to work on it at least call and say so. Not everyone have luxury of leaving a car at the shop for days. I do not know what is the priority to work on a car but definitely not appointment system.

Mark and manager, Karlen were both incredible! Great prices and amazing, personalized, above-and-beyond care to assure our satisfaction and quality work. We were taking my brother to Purdue for move in and had a flat car while un-loading. Went to Car-X and they got us right in, repaired two tires, and sent us on our way within an hour to continue with move in. My family was so thankful for their assistance and would recommend this place to ANYONE! Thanks again!Service: Tires

I called to place an appointment, and the guy who answered rushed off the phone before I could ask any questions, didn't get a quote, no important information he told me to "just drop it off in the morning, see you then" and hung up.

Reliable and trustworthy staff!!! Karlen and Chad helped fix my 99 solara. Karlen was transparent about everything and did his best to fix my car to where it needed to be, but also save me the most money he could. My car runs like it's brand new and I couldn't be happier. I recommend this place to anyone. Karlen is my favorite mechanic that I have ever worked with!!!

Definitely the worst place to change your tires. If y all want auto services, I highly recommend the Ernie s BWC.I ve been to this CarX about two years ago and they don t even care how much torque they should put on each lug nut. You can easily find other places with lower price and higher quality.Here s my story, I own a very common type of Toyota and never had one single problem with the factory lug nuts (even two years ago at the same store!) So I just assume every car shop should have the lug nut key sets, however, they don t. The reason they gave me is that having a lug nut key set is too expensive(ridiculous uh?) I m not a car professional, but I do know a lug net key set cost less than 100 bucks on Amazon. Yet, they don t have it. If the lug nut key has ever been a problem, they should at least mention it during the first phone call.After two hours I dropped off my car, they asked me to send the lug nut key asap. I had to bother my friend for a ride and managed to get there in 20 minutes. The guy at front desk told me that my car will be done in 1 hour. So I waited, until one of the mechanics told me they can t do it today. Moreover, they said they hold definitely no responsibility on any of these issues. It was all my fault to not bring they the lug nut key at the first place. In the end, I was given two options, either leave rn or keep waiting and hope my tires can get changed today.I m extremely disappointed, and I would recommend no one who needs their tires changed to come to this store. Find some other places, you can get better service with lower price!

I was so dissatisfied with another car repair place, I had my car towed to CarX. Carlin was wonderful! He gave me an estimate and said it would be completed by end of next day. Despite deciding the car needed some unforeseen parts, he kept to his promised price and completed the work on time. I would not hesitate to give them a great recommendation and would definitely use them again.Service: Auto water leak repair

Edited Review: I recently had my car towed to CarX again due to my exhaust blowing out. I was quoted a price and my car was fixed in about 3 days. However, when I took it home, my exhaust was rattling, similar to how it was before blowing out. I immediately took my car back to CarX, where they tightened some stuff, and then sent me on my way. Lo and behold, the rattle was not gone, so I had to take my car back a third time, and it was kept for an additional 3 days. Evidently, when my exhaust blew out, it bent a pipe, and instead of initially replacing this pipe, it was left on, which was what caused the rattle after it had been initially "fixed." I was charged an additional amount for this pipe to be fixed, despite the fact that this was an error that should have been caught by CarX initially and was not. The staff at CarX are very kind and courteous, but they are unwilling to eat the cost of their errors.Original review: I had to have the starter replaced on my 2005 Pontiac and Karlen was incredibly kind and helpful! Wonderful service, they kept me up to date on my car while it was in, and answered any questions I had! Definitely my new go-to mechanic, I took my car to a place in Lafayette last year (starts with a B) and they refused to work on my car because it was too old, so it was refreshing to go to a place with such wonderful service!

I have been a customer at this place for at least 15 years. They are super reliable and trustworthy. They recommend what I really need to fix. They always try to offer options with different price ranges for me to choose most suitable for my situation. I especially like their manager Keegan Speed. He is a somewhat quiet guy, but he is honest and genuine. He is very knowledgeable about his job and willing to work extra hours to get things done in time for his customers. This place has super helpful and honest folks. The fact that it is on my way from home to work helps. When my battery was acting fidgety and I had a long drive coming up, Kegan did a quick and thorough job changing the battery and also checked and inflated the tires.

For two times in a row I dropped off my car in the morning, waited for the whole day, only to be told in the late evening the mechanics were too busy to even touch my car. During the first visit my car just didn t get any service and I had to pick it up at 7pm. In the more recent visit, Karlin was actually nice to work extra hours after the shop closed to take a look at my car. We agreed I would pick up my car the next morning with the tires rotated. But when I picked up my car I was disappointed to see my tires incorrectly rotated. Those were new tires with warranty, going through their first rotation, and they are supposed to be rotated as prescribed by the owner s manual (front wheels to the back, back wheels swap sides and go to the front). Whoever did the tire rotations just went completely off the books and only swapped the front and rear wheels, on one side only! The other side was unchanged.I wasn t charged a buck for the second visit, but still disappointed. It s not about money but professionalism! When I send my car to carx I expect to receive professional service better than a DIY job. If the mechanic thinks an unorthodox way to rotate tires fits better for my car, at least call me to get my permission! But nobody tell me. I didn t know what happened to my car until I inspect the tires myself.Karlin offered to remedy the improper tire rotation for free but we couldn t reach an agreement on the time. The problem is the shop is too busy to offer a drive-thru kind of job unless I come very early in the morning which is very inconvenient.How hard can I blame when they didn t even charge me? But it just makes a seemingly simple routine very unpleasant and overly complicated. The mechanics and manager are surely knowledgeable and helpful, but clearly oversubscribed. I just don t think I ll send my car here for services. For me, the trouble out-weighted what it s worth.

I dropped my truck off to get brakes changed at 8 AM. They told me would be done at 12. I called at 12 and they said it needed spark plugs and coils, which I didn t want. I told them to just do brakes. They said would be done in 2 hours. I called back at 4:00 and they said would be done in an hour. I went back at 5:00 and nothing was done. They had the truck all day and did nothing to the brakes. Extremely frustrating to get rides to and from, nothing done.Service: Brakes

I called asking if they could rotate my tires (after another local place changed my oil and couldn t rotate the tires). I came in to replace 1 blown out tire. Karlen was very patient and amusing. We opened a Drive Card account and replaced all 4 tires. Mom advised to do that. It was a good experience and I would gladly recommend his service and this location. A great end to what was a rough night.

Tried to make an appointment online and told it had to be pushed out. No problem, I talk with the man upfront and he schedules me for the next day. I get there the next day and he just lies about calling and emailing me about my appointment and now after rescheduling me for a second time he tells me I have to schedule weeks in advance.

My car had low fuel efficiency and I also needed to change brake pads. I went to Car-X and they suggested a tuneup, changing spark plugs etc. I googled and came to know tuneup sometimes may be unnecessary. I again went to Car-X to talk to Kerleen and he discussed everything and assured me he will only change any part it is absolutely needed. After he changed the spark plugs, he showed me the old spark plugs, suggested me a YouTube video to know more about spark plugs. My car now works like a new. I will definitely go to them in future. Kerleen ( manager) is a nice and helpful person. Also I think Chad is a great mechanic who you can trust. Only issue I had with Car-X is that I had to leave the car for whole days. We were here on an urgent visit to get the tires/brakes repaired when our car started showing problems right before a long distance drive to a different state. Karlen (the assistant manager) gladly took us in without an appointment and Eddie (the technician) sorted out the issue, even though it was nearing holiday times (new years' 2021) and they were clearly very busy. We appreciated their commitment to customers and helping us out in our times of need, especially when other auto repair shops nearby refused to provide service on such short notice. Karlen was also a great person to chat to, while we were waiting for the car to get fixed.Services: Tires, Brake service & repair

UPDATE: Another phenomenal experience at Car X in West Lafayette. Keegan was wonderful to work with and my SUV got new rear shocks. They are honest and won't upsell you on items that you don't actually need. Highly recommend! - January 2023.A truly pleasant experience! Keegan and Karlin are awesome. They're trustworthy, straightforward, no BS types of mechanics. So many auto mechanics take advantage of customers, but these guys are the real deal. Fantastic customer service and speedy repairs.
