DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!I had taken my jeep engine here because I was referred here. Had some coolant issues and burnt up some stuff. I was told he d need to rebuild the engine. They did EVERYTHING but rebuild . I didn t see anything that resembled a new part anywhere.Moving pass that, they had my vehicle for 8 months the first time and 2 more the second time.Why a second time you ask? Because they didn t fix it completely or right the first time.Communication is terrible. I had to call to get updates no one ever told me what was going on.They charge 4000 more than the quoted price.They tried to fix a broken window and replace it without telling me and thinking I wouldn t noticed but my windows were tinted. The new one was not.A TERRIBLE BUSINESS AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE.

This place is a rip off when it comes to repairs for your vehicle. I took my 1999 Cadillac in to repair an oil leak. Base on several conversations that I had with Steve I really believe he was going to do a great job on repairing my vehicle. I was quoted a price of $8,000 and 4,000 up front. Without hesitation I pulled out my credit card and paid the $4,000. My car set there for almost a year and I received excuses after excuses when my vehicle will be ready. To make a long story short after I received my vehicle I start to hear a ticking sound from the engine that was not there before. I contacted Steve and he said to bring it back. After several cars I decided to go pick up my car and take it to the Cadillac dealership. After they expect the car they told me all the things Schmidt did to damaged my car worst. I end up paying the Cadillac dealership 3,550 to repair there mess. Total I was out of almost $12,000. So buyer beware do not believe anything they say when it comes to repairs for your vehicle. They talk a good game but the work is horrible. PLEASE STAY AWAY

DO NOT GO HERE. If I could give them negative stars I would. They changed their name to evade multiple lawsuits. Everything they are doing is illegal and a scam. Took my car there to get my engine fixed in June of 2021 and they held onto it for a year and a half. They kept saying that the parts were on back order when in fact they never ordered them. They swindled me out of $5,500 and ended up completely ruining my engine, which I had to then pay another mechanic for. It may seem like they are helpful in the beginning, but they do not care and will rob you of your money. STAY AWAY!!

Had some block prep done here. Block zero decked, new cam bearings, freeze plugs, cylinders freshened up, and magna fluxed. There was a bit of a wait to get the block back, but I'm happy with the results.

Dysfunctional establishment across the board! Nobody answers the phone, nobody calls you back. If you finally get through nobody knows what's going on with your engine. If he tells it's a 2 week turn around it's really 2 months or more. The shop looks nothing like the pictures you see above. The SBC he built for me had bearing failure immediately and leaked oil badly. Nobody has ever responded to my voice-mail in regards to the the engine failure. My experience was bad enough that I will not give him a second chance anyway. It was a waste of money and time. Find someone else who cares and wants to run a professional business to build your engine! Take one step into his building and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Stay away from these guys. They will take your money and give you nothing but the run around. Talking with a lawyer now regarding my order that was not refunded and I never received my engine.

Talk about awesome. Every single person there was so friendly and inviting. They are busting their butts also. Very grateful to have Steve and his team around. Top notch place, work/service. If you want to spend your money wisely and know you are in good hands then this is your place. Plus it's Steve Schmidt Racing Engines....... you know you are getting something badass.

There's people bashing you all over Facebook you have there engines and you want respond. Guess they will be seeing you in court. Do the right thing getting over on people only hurts yourself

We had an engine built for pulling truck , didn't put our purchased parts in the motor , as far as we are aware sub par parts put in engine, Terrible customer support ,100% would not recommend. Scammed us on push rods , roller rocker lifters, wrong pistons , wrong cam we brought, didn't do oil pan , didn't put oil pump we wanted , took way to long of time frame. Kept making excuses. Would love for them to correct this issue but have had no luck. So here we are posting publicly so it doesn't happen to some one else.

One place that's a one stop shop for all your vehicle engine needs. Full engine replacement and or rebuild. I had a great conversation with a few of the owner staff and they were able to fill me in on what engine needed. This place is very knowledgeable you just have to tell them your thoughts to just get them started. I'm saving my money to become a customer of theirs. I've heard nothing but great things about the. I've been riding pass your business for so many years and it's still going strong.

Do not use this company. If you are happy to pay up front. Wait 11 months .be lied to every phone call. Then ship your motor half way around the world with 1/2 the parts missing. This company is for you. The (Love) of this company died with phill unfortunately. I suggest looking into companies like Becks race engines for customers support.

Dropped off car on Monday, complete with early bird envelope listing things needing checked. After hearing back from them, was told harmonic balancer was making noise, that front end was tight and had new struts. Was told brakes were good. Get a call on Tuesday that brake pad had separated from metal plate. Fine, take care of it. After 4+ days with vehicle, I call to find its complete. Pick it up, all codes still on and a/c not working. Took it back, they hadn t reset codes. They did fill AC at no charge. But then told me I need new struts and rotors! After telling me they were fine! And the first thing on my list was oil change, and it didn t get done. I m done.

I had my car inspected after it wouldn't start. Come to find out the engine let go. The service writer worked it in and was uo front with me. After I decided that the truck wasn't worth fixing because of its age. They didn't charge me anything. I really appreciate your shop and will bring all my vehicles there.

Run away. This place is awful. They make promises about timeframes that they cannot keep. After waiting extended periods of time the work is awful. Hired them to replace the motor in my 2007 Suburban with a Jasper motor. They ruined one motor. It was spraying oil when i got it back and I had to take it back. Jasper gave another motor under warranty and that one had a leak. I ended up taking it to a qualified mechanic and they fixed all if the issues caused by incompetent installation provided by Schmidt!! I will never go back. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to go!!

Well I m almost happy I haven t been here for anything I called Saturday for a quote and was told to call back Monday. Ok cool! I called today and the guy that answers tells me in a rude way yes they can do it but I d have to call the right number. Ok Cool again! I call today the guy that answers acts like he doesn t know what I m talking about says let me get Greg then places me on hold off and on about 3 times then the line starts to ring... No one ever came back to the phone it just rang and rang. Yeah, I ll go elsewhere;no wonder there are so many bad reviews!!

I couldn t be happier with the amazing service I received at Schmidt. They were fast , friendly and did great work on my 96 Cadillac Deville. And they had me back in my car in less than a day. As a person who has had nothing but bad experiences with auto shops. I would never go anywhere else after receiving this excellent service. Thank you very much Schmidt Auto!

When I called I was told to call back later. Kind of rude, I just wanted to know the price on getting head work done on my sbc. I will be more then happy to take my money to another shop. I would hate to see how the work is done on the inside, after seeing how well I was spoken too. Again thanks

dropped my truck off before thanksgiving 2017 it is now march 2018 and still dont have my truck back . was told i would have it back before Christmas went in for a engine rebuild and brakes . truck was returned to me in February and on the way home it lost oil pressure . towed back to them and still there . every excuse in the book as to why it is not done. they were payed in advance. brakes still not satisfactory when i did try to drive it home .they dented my hood when they were pulling the engine but i want my truck back so i will just get it fixed myself. definitely will not EVER do business here again!

Be very cautious of this company. Extremely high turnover in management staff. Guarantee on sales receipt means absolutely nothing. Will not show up in Small Claims Court. When they lose by default, they keep an attorney on retainer to appeal to a higher court where you must have an attorney knowing the attorney will cost more than the case you re fighting.

Needed a broken bolt extracted, and after trying MANY different shops around Indy this place was able to take care of me. In and out same day. Jim was very informative in what was involved and super friendly.

Girl friend called them to see if they could do a quick weld job for me, she explained everything as I told her and it got to the point that the older male on the phone asked her if she "knows anything about cars" and proceeded to tell her continuously that they couldn't weld plastic or her rusty car (not sure why he was even saying that). I called later on explaining the work, and still was spoken to like a child. I've have years of experience working on cars, just don't have a welder after a recent move. I suggest not even reaching out to this shop.

Terrible service, alot of run around.. literally a show...... mismatched used parts on a "new" build, and on a motor we have been taking back since 2015. had such worn parts (even after it was supposed to have been refreshed) now after 10's of thousands of dollars we are looking at even more to get them fixed. like $36,000.00Service: Engine repairService: Engine repair

I took my 95 Mustang with 30,000 original miles to have the stock engine modified to increase power . They recommended rebuilding and boring out , milling heads , changing cam . Not knowing much about the best way to gain 100 hp . I trusted them only to end with spending $4000, and no power gain based on a dyno test . I returned they said they would install high performance intake , headers , exhaust , and heads at no labor cost. I spent over $ 5000 in parts plus getting charged for gaskets , antifreeze , and other unnecessary parts that came with the main parts or could have been reused . This began a series of mistakes and problems ranging from overheating, redrilling coolant passages , I ended up with a 50 hp gain . At this point I realized I had spent more than buying an engine already built but was stuck having to allow them to re do the engine based on a warranty . They rebuilt again , new cam , pistons . The engine was running worse after all this . The timing wouldn t fluctuate .and caused severe damage to rods , lifters , they couldn t determine why . I had it looked at by another mechanic and found the harmonic balancer was damaged by the extreme heat created by the modified engine . They hadn t replaced the balancer and used the stock 20 yr old part both times . A 75 $ part . This caused the timing problem , they admitted but refuse toHonor th 3 yr 36000 warranty even though I ve only driven 35,000 since the start of their work . This business and all employees are deceptive , rude, incompetent, liars . The owner knows it was a failure caused by his employees mistakes false promised but won t make it rightI m filing a law suit after calling the owner and manager , they hung the phone up as I started asking about what they were going to do

Used them a number of times for street performance builds. I had an overall great experience with friendly people that did not intimidate. They shared knowledge and advice openly. Very pleased with products and service.

These guys are great! They do a grade A job and they won't overcharge you. You're really paying for quality work here.
