I would send anyone to gates! I had the best experience with gates. Mike was super helpful and found me the right vehicle for me and my needs. Everyone is super nice and very friendly. They treat you like family. They definitely are the best dealership I have ever walked into. I bought a 2017 Ford escape titanium with low mileage. After having a horrible experience at Hyundai in Michigan city they wanted to sell me a 2016 jeep Cherokee with no remote start and no amenities what so ever in the vehicle and would not work with me at all. But when I went to gates they turned my whole experience of looking for a vehicle around. They go above and beyond for you. Thanks gates for everything I will definitely go back even to trade in.!

I've bought 2 cars from here and I've been impressed with the professionalism from the salesman and sales manager. I've had a few concerns and minor issues and Chris and Pablo took care of it promptly! I buy alot of cars all the time and family members usually follow where I go and will continue to buy from Gates Granger! Shout-out to Chris and Pablo!

I don't recommend this dealership. I am a disabled person that went in to test drive a car. They tried putting me into a car I can't afford. Every step of the process was shady high pressure sells techniques was used so you have to sign something before you even know if you will have financial issues with it. They took a 200 dollar down payment and refused to refund the money when I told them I don't want the car. After everything as someone with a fixed income due to a disability they tried to bully me into taking a car that I would end up having to live in. So they keep my 200 dollar and was still showing the car for sale and was having people test drive it only 48 hours after they did this to me. Scam artists

Love the service center. Sadly the car buying experience was an all tactics and not great, Scheduled to have two cars from partnering dealerships there and was told they were all ready that morning to help me and when I arrived slightly half an hour before my appointment it was a bait and switch for a vehicle, that I was not interested in. Also there was visible dirt on it inside, after we left the Did go get one of the vehicles even though I was honest we wouldn t go back. Keep blowing up my cell phone after taking them I was no longer interested. This was management. The other sales rep was awesome. With excellent credit I m used to a very different experience. We Have a dealership we ve usually go to but they didn t not have the vehicle and the service has changed dramatically in the last few years since new management happened. I was looking for a deal. Why the five star? Because if you can avoid management or you need your car serviced this is a great place.

I used to use gates for everything for the last decade, but something has shifted in the last year where quality of the service has declined substantially. From explaining issues and being charged $200 for them to grind my battery post, leave the shavings all over in my engine, and realize they didn't even listen to me about the actual issue and having to demand better service and 4 days later finally get my car up and running after an additional $600, to the most recent experience of just a simple oil change and fluids check. They told me I had a massive leak and there was oil all over my engine but no solutions or clean up of that took place. That I should come back and be charged for a diagnosis appointment and then offered services. I specifically asked them to check my coolant as my car was having heat issues and I directly asked if they checked it and was assured it was and was fine, yet the heat wasn't heating correctly still they said they could put that with the diagnosis appointment. Less than one month later I take my car to a local mechanic shop close to work because I panicked after seeing what I thought was a puddle of oil just to find out Gates didn't properly tighten my oil pan plug and they showed me a video of how loose it was with their fingers, diagnosed there was a leaky seal and could fix that and that my car was in fact short a quart of coolant. For $32 they put my mind at ease and even though I have another repair the quote was already less than the discovery appointment charges. Did i mention they even cleaned my engine up! I cannot recommend Gates to anyone anymore because the blatant lack of confidence and quality of services recieved.

This is my 4th car with this dealership and I've dealt with others. Most are predators for $$. This place treats you like family. They have always done the best by me based on my credit criteria and get you approved even if you have less than perfect credit. You can refinance here and they will find you the best they can and take care of your needs. I especially want to shout out to the sales and finance team for taking special care of me. After my credit score increased they were able to get me out of my vehicle I didn't love and into one that had only 3800 miles--yes you heard that right. The gauge I showed after owning it for a little over a month. On top of that, they hooked me up with a reliable second vehicle. This isn't just a dealership, they advocate for you and your situation. A "no" doesn't always mean a no. So if you got denied from one, try this one. They won't disappoint. A+ for ethics and dealing with me bs. When I wasn't pleased with the condition of my car, they actually fixed it and gave me a loaner while they did so. Thanks robo, Ralph, Dan. Here's to a life time business relationship. Side note: the service team REALLY needs work. They pass vehicles without a thorough check. Perhaps they should get some more training, as every vehicle except my new one they have left a lot over that needed to be fixed. They are Also very lax on updating customers with information.

Update: I was able to get an excellent resolution by working with Chris who was able to rectify every issue and make good on the Gates promise! We are satisfied with both our Mazda 6 and our Nissan Murano!I am a returning customer and I have sent plenty of friends and family to Gates including my husband, I should have read the latest reviews before I made my latest purchase. More stress than what its worth; waited days to pick my vehicle up only for the same issues discussed during the test drive that they would be more than happy to take care of to still be present when I picked the vehicle up!!! I m just going to leave it at that because the situation just doesn t make any sense!

These guys are scammers, they talked my 80 year old grandpa into talking to a service advisor who told him he needed to have his entire air conditioner system replaced in his car- they kept it an entire week, and we called multiple times to find out more information on it and they got annoyed and hostile on the phone saying everything was fine and it was going to be fixed- then they call today and tell him they can't fix it and that his car has been wrecked on their lot. Absolutely unprofessional, poor communication skills, and slow service.

Andrew Claeys is the best!!! Of any car salesman I have ever had he is the best!!! So helpful, non pressure, and very professional to walk us through the process I would recommend him above anybody!!! I definitely recommend you ask for him!!!

These people are shysters, my friend was sent there by a teller at her credit union because her husband is a salesman. They pushed her sale through on a Saturday morning and did not give her fair trade in value for her vehicle. First thing Monday morning she tried to get the loan stopped at the cu, her request was refused. When she called the dealership they told her to come in, wasting her time and gas to drive a half hour to accomplish absolutely nothing!! I've dealt with many dealerships and even had relatives that owned dealerships and never experienced this level of shoddy service in my advanced years. I wouldn't recommend them to an enemy.

Gates of Granger Did me wrong twice Approve me for one car I get the insurance on that car And they sold it out from under me Then put me in a newer car with less miles get there to pick it up And they tell me that I cannot get it after being approved for it And signed all documents and contracts and everything to find out when I got there to pick up the car to find my cosigner has to have a driver's license to get the loan does not have a driver's license but has a I'd card becuse she's handicapped and does not want to drive or want's a driver's license To me this is discrimination Against a handicapped person

So very frustrated. Long story short, we bought a van just after it was traded in. Doors and windows were messed up and it was put in the initial agreement that Gates would fix them. Door alarm constantly buzzed, windows vibrated and made noises. They finally, after several trips out there, fixed the door (well, the buzzing...now they randomly wont latch shut). It's been in for the windows and doors 4 TIMES now IN 3 MONTHS and this time they told me that it's been 3 months so they wont keep trying to fix it, even though they agreed to do so and never did. I asked exactly what they did for the driver window and he said they lubricated it one time, that was it! I have no idea what they did the other 3 times!The sales manager told me today that since his team couldn't pinpoint the problem to take it to another shop and have them see if they can figure it out, then go back to Gates and he would split the cost with me for them to "fix" it!Texted our salesman (who had been cool until now) that we want a copy of the agreement, and he told me that I was crying about every little thing with this van and "there are many people in the world who will never have a car or a window in their car" and to stop acting like a baby because my window makes a noise. He said my actions show who I really am, and there's nothing they can do now after 3 months. This all was supposed to be taken care of 3 months ago and never has been.This was our second vehicle we bought from them; will never, ever buy here again!

This is a great place to go. I was unhappy with my ride and they got me into something and my payments in the place I wanted. Thanks Kyle hooks for all the help. Go see him if your in the market for a new car. The finance team is amazing!!! They have amazing cars as well.

Update 2: posted this some 3 years ago. I stand by this review. They never called me back to schedule any of what I wrote. I am appalled at Gates and every time I hear their STUPID commercials with OUTRAGEOUS, LOUD, YELLING, LAME ads, I shudder! BLAH!Update 1: Austin the service manager called back and partially cleared things up. Adjusting the rating up 1 star. Pending the outcome of the appointment will give 2nd update and adjust accordingly.Recently bought a Toyota van from the Gates Toyota in Southbend and they assured me I could get service and repairs done at the Gates Granger location. So our first oil change was just fine and I had heard a clicking noise (less than 3 months from when we got the vehicle) and after they checked it out they said I needed new brakes in the front. The said it was low. There are only 33k miles on the car. Seems a bit low for the brakes to be needing replaced as I'm used to getting 50-80k...depending on driving. So we went ahead and got that done. They also replaced the rear wiper as it was needing replaced.So why the lower review? Well its actually pending. Initially I felt they were satisfactory. However they put on after market pads without consulting me or asking which brake pads would be used. I figured Gates sold me the vehicle and I had dealer pads so I should get dealer pads as replacement. But they've put pads that scrape and don't feel right. When I asked them about it the next day they confirmed that they were the aftermarket pads. Have had very bad experience with them warping rotors before. The service person Mary said no problem they'll order them. Its been a week. I happened to call today and she said they came in yesterday (but no phone call to let me know...took me calling back but ok not a big deal). But then she informs me that they want to test drive and see if there's really a problem...Wow really? Why would I waste my time making it up? That set off yellow flags for me. So asked further and she says that they'll decide whether or not they'll replace them after the test drive. Ummm...no? How about you put on the wrong pads and initially had no problem swapping them out for the ones that the customer thought you were going to put on the car originally...and now you're saying you're not sure whether or not you'll honor that depending on the test drive? And you wonder why used car places get a bad wrap! I've heard that Gates Granger is run by an upstanding guy from someone I personally know. But right now it feels like I need to take a bath after Mary even talked down to me and dismissing me as if I was a nuisance when I asked to clarify what she meant by a test drive and directly asked her if that means in their mind they don't see a problem then they won't honor the request to swap out the pads? And this was asked originally the day after the service was done. Its frustrating to get blown off and spoken down to and essentially held hostage as the whim of the one who does the test drive to see if they'll honor putting the right pads on or not. Thats disgraceful for any customer service person to do, let alone the "great Gates family"...Oh. They also put on garbage rear wiper that even Mary said didn't do a good job and that they would order a dealer wiper blade for that too. But apparently they need to "see" that as well. Even though I already showed it to her and brought it back and she acknowledged it. Really getting that nasty dirty used car lot feeling at this point.But im going to post this and see where it goes. I'll update this once its resolved one way or the other. If they correct course then ill say so and adjust my rating up. If they continue down this negative path then the update and rating will reflect it. The future of my business for service and potentially buying another car from them (and word of mouth in person and online for the resulting final review, good or bad) is on the line. SMH. I'm not asking for anything outlandish. Just to have service done right. Something Gates supposedly is all about. Right now that hangs in the balance.

Absolutely amazing team here at Gates. I ve been through the car buying process a few times before and it was never fun. But today was the best overall experience I ve ever had buying a car. Stress free and very simple. I HIGHLY recommend going to see Brandon Cooper as he not only was able to put me in the car I wanted, but the payment I was hoping for as well. He made his priority to get to know a little bit about me and what I was looking for so that he could match me with the perfect car and he absolutely did just that. I could not have picked a better one myself honestly. From that point forward the rest of the process was a breeze. Even when I had an issue getting the new insurance policy and it looked like I would have to leave it on the lot for a couple day, they helped me get it all sorted out so that I could drive it home today. I am beyond grateful for everyone s help here and I could not be happier with the end result, a car I love at a price I can easily afford. THANK YOU!!!

Andrew Clays is great! He is great at finding exactly what kind of vehicle that suits you best! The entire team did nothing but make us feel welcome. Terrible experience for my brother. He went to get his first car yesterday with no credit history. He sat down and talked with someone who said they were going to put him in a vehicle and did. He signed papers and left with the hat they said was his new car and told him to come back with his proof of address the next day. He went in today with the things they asked for and told him they had to take the vehicle back because they didn t run the application with the bank and that the bank didn t approve him. Now why would they not run the application right then and there with the bank? Why would they shake hands and say congratulations on your new vehicle and send him on his way with the new car? I could see if they said he wasn t approved. Terrible experience.

The Gates staff were very professional, polite, friendly, and knowledgable! My Chevy Equinox SUV needed quick attention due to a steering issue. They got me a service appointment within a day of my call. My Chevy was diagnosed, they pinpointed the problem, fixed it, and had me on my way in no time. It s driving great and back to normal. It was not safe to drive! Thanks to Mary, Matt, and Austin for all their efforts to answer my endless questions I had about my vehicle. Also, thank you to Junior for the safe ride and pleasant conversation to and from Gates. They all were great! My experience with Gates Chevy World has always been excellent! I would recommend them to anyone for your car care needs!

The worst of all the Gates in the area. I will never trust a worker there again. I've had my car taken in to repair my transmission. Got it worked out with my warranty to get another put in. They had my car for a total of almost 2 months, just to give it back in a worse condition that I brought it in. Received it with my headlights being off center, my ac unit not working as good as it once was, and my steering column/axel would not stop shaking violently any speed after 45mph. These problems are still currently happening because after the second time I had brought it in for these problems they looked it over just to tell me nothing was wrong. I brought it in one final time and they tried to make me pay for another diagnostic fee, even though it was their mess up. I told them I wouldn't be paying for their mess up, came in and one of the managers tried to get me to pay, yet again. I told them no. The service guy Dan told me to not come back because they would not service it anymore and to go to the manufacturer. Unbelievable since Gates was the one who messed up my car. Highly disrespectful. To this day, my car needs more repairs than how I originally gotten it from them, because of them.

The Gates Granger Service staff were polite and receptive to my personal needs. Mary, the service rep, was especially helpful during my visit. She kept me informed of my car's status thru out the day. I fully recommend this dealership and will use this location for all my Equinox services.

Everybody was very nice and I think they did a good job but I waited for almost 3 hours when I was told only 1 hour. If it s going to take that long people need to be told so they can make other arrangements. I also had 2 kids with me so the long wait was very inconvenient. I would have made an appointment but they told me on the phone the appointments were 3 weeks out and I had to have an oil change. I m going to give it one more try but if next time I wait that long I will be going somewhere else.

First time I d used the service department at the Granger location and it won t be the last. They were friendly and helpful from the initial phone call to schedule until the completion of work. They fixed my issue quicker than expected and stayed in communication with me during diagnostic. Just a great experience!
