This review is a bit different. First off, most shops don t like customers bringing their own parts, because the shop can not warranty customer provided parts, or the work of installing them. If the shop does accept customer provided parts, the shop will mark up their labor rate.Secondly, No reputable shop is going to pad swap brakes (only change the pads) without addressing the rotors, if the rotors are below spec and can t be machined then they need to be replaced. Most shops also will only rebuild a brake caliper yet charge for a new one. The customer has a legal right to look at and keep any used part that comes off their vehicle.Lastly, an explanation for the 1 star review. I went in there back in 2021 and applied for a job, I was handed a list of tools I needed to own, I explained that I had at least 3 of everything on the list (I own close to $110,000 worth of tools), and that I am an ASE certified master level tech, most shops would bend over backwards for someone like me, yet I was turned away. If fair muffler is so good, why is their parking lot always empty? I live 5 minutes away and drive past 8-10 times every day and yet never see any activity makes you wonder.

My appointment was set for 2pm, I got there around 1:45pm, I checked in and they got me in instantly, they looked at what was wrong told me and showed the piece that needed fixed, quoted me and then they fixed it. I wasn t even there 20 minutes and they were pulling my car around back to me. It was excellent time and a very fair price! Will definitely be going back if I have any other problems with my car! Thank you so much!Service: Exhaust

My go to place for car problems. Super fast service, best possible price, their work has always been reliable. Locally owned business not a chain. One time I had a car towed there after hours and they had it fixed before I even called them about it in the morning.

Went in for a brake job and they quoted me $1000 for just the rear brakes saying the entire system needed replacing. This was out of my range so they charged me $40 for looking. After saving up, we took it somewhere else simply because the mechanic was annoyed that we didn t spend $1000. Turned out we only needed break pads replaced. Cost us a couple hundred and the brakes work fine.Would not recommend going here unless you like throwing your money away on unnecessary repairs.Service: Brakes

All new people. Used them for years and never had bad service but now will never use them again. Paid $750 for new pads and rotors on all four tires. They were squeaking the day I drove it home. I waited two weeks hoping it was just brake dust, but when it didn t stop I called and was told they had no idea why that would happen and didn t offer to help. When I insisted they look at them I was told it was my fault for braking too hard. I assure you this is not the case. They said there was nothing they could do and refused to help any further. I took the car to another mechanic who said the brakes were new and installed correctly, but they were just such low quality POS brakes that they were already wearing down and there was nothing to be done but replace them. Again, FAIR refused to do anything. Less than 4 months (1,000 miles) after purchased I am forced to buy all new brakes from another mechanic because these are already grinding and are unsafe. This should be illegal and the owners should be ashamed of themselves charging almost a month s pay for something so critical to driver safety. Will never go back and I urge others to go elsewhere.Service: Brakes

Had a tailpipe dragging on the ground. Went to another shop and they told me they couldn't work on it due to my truck being "too big".. They suggested Fair Muffler on Coliseum Blvd so I went over there. They got me right in and had me fixed up in less than 1/2 hr for under $50!! Great service and price! The service technician spent the time to show me what was causing the issue and what he did to correct it. This was one of the few times that I can truthfully say that I was impressed. I will recommend this place to anyone!

Showed up at 10:40 for my 11:00 appt. Got me in right away. Originally quoted me $350, due to the issue being simpler than expected they knocked the price down to $225. Only took an hour for the actual fix. I was so impressed with the friendliness and prompt time. I had never heard of them until my boyfriend recommended, but I will for sure refer them to everyone I know.Service: Exhaust

So, I called Williams Auto and asked for a quote for rear brakes/calipers/rotor replacement. They told me $600.00 I called Summit Auto Care, and they quoted me their price of $800.00. I called Fair, and they quoted me $400.00 to $450.00 for rear brake pad and rotor replacement. The choice was easy! I took my car directly to the shop. I had a feeling that the calipers would need to be replaced so paying a little more for them to be replaced wouldn't be a big deal, so I thought... I was called with a follow up. The mechanic told me that it would cost $1200.00 to replace the rear brakes/rotors/calipers. I tried to understand why this price increased from $400.00-$450.00. Now, looking at the invoice, I noticed that even though the brakes, rotors, and calipers are in the very same location, placing each individual part on my car was charged an individual amount of labor. That increased the cost of my repair by a minimum of $200.00. I spoke with the owner about a price reduction and he told me that there was nothing he could do with the price because "Fair uses high quality parts." Either their sales associate needs to understand that she needs to communicate the labor plus parts to customers so they will not make the same mistake i have in choosing this establishment to have their vehicle serviced at, or the labor charge for brake jobs be charged FAIRLY. Fair is now a new 4 letter word in my vocabulary. I think they have gained enough of my money for a few lifetimes, and will never happen again. So, after a week, my brake light came on. I looked at the previous reviews and saw how a customer stated that her brake wore down in a short amount of time. I put two and two together. They apparently are not installing brakes correctly. Now I have to repair them myself. SmhService: Brakes

My 1993 F150 needed a muffler & tailpipe. I had used Fair Muffler before so I let them operate on my baby. 25 minutes later they drove it out and parked it. The only problem I have is when I went out to drive it away, it was so quiet, I didn't even know the engine was running. :-)Service: ExhaustService: Exhaust

This is one those rare examples of a modern business that exudes traditional customer service. The entire crew, especially Cassie and Terry, are always accommodating to my strange schedule, and provide a top-notch service at a remarkable price, in a timeframe that's always quicker than promised. And, they have a great sense of humor to boot.

If 0 stars was an option I would have used it. I went for a break inspection this morning. The guy drove it around the building then put it on a lift. Everything seemed okay because I d never watched a break inspection before, but I know from watching multiple videos on YouTube that a standard break inspection involves removing the tires and looking at the calipers without the tire obstructing the view. This is when it got interesting, the gentleman came in and told me that my break calipers, pads (which were just replaced 8 days ago), rotors and break lines all needed replaced. The entire inspection was roughly 20 minutes. Me being a person who was always told make sure you get multiple opinions on anything that involves the safety of my life and those around me, I got not one, but two different opinions and estimates on my vehicle. Both of the other shops removed the tires and did the inspections without the tires on. Both other shops had the exact same opinion and estimate, that the break calipers, pads rotors, and lines were in perfect working condition with both other shops taking at minimum one hour to fully inspect the vehicle and finding those components had absolutely no issues. Both other shops clearly stated that there had been air in my break lines from the breaks being replaced ( that was my fault, not theirs. I want that to be very clear) I explained to them that I was pretty sure that air had been introduced in the line and that is what caused the issues. I just didn t know the extent of the problems. They seemed like they didn t give two cares in the world and I was very disappointed in the lack of empathy, and to be quite honest the rude ness of employees, another customer referred to my s/o as a douchebag because he stated that we were going to try to find somewhere to do the work cheaper this is commonly a phrase used when a person is in knowledge of a shop that can perform the work cheaper. The employee agreed with her and stated seriously I can t stand people like him people are so rude. People will be rude when you are being rude to them and aren t thoroughly explaining why you are charging $125 for a single part that I just looked up and it only costs $65. Will never go back or refer anyone to them.

Very impressed with service and price both locations we have visited (Coliseum and Stellhorn locations). Both times we have had a quote from another shop and Fair muffler was able to save us money while still doing a quality job. We definitely will continue to use Fair Muffler in the future.

First time I went, to have 2 bolts removed, I was told there was a minimum 1hr. charge ($90)...for less than 15 minutes of work. The second time I went, for nearly the same work, I was only charged about $40...for about 5 minutes of work (Plus the time putting the car up on the lift and, subsequently, taking it down.). Working in an auto repair shop myself, I felt that the second charge was very fair considering what it think would have cost me to get the equipment to do the job.The first time the employees acted like I was bothering them. The second time the shop employees were very accommodating. As I previously mentioned, I work as a mechanic and was trying to network so that I would have a vendor to do what I couldn't, or didn't have the time for, but the first visit really soured me on ever frequenting this shop again. It's almost an oxymoron that they are named "FAIR"...

Terrible company that tried to over charge me for a job they could not correct. I disagree with the final amount, because they didn't repair the problem I took it in for. When I went to pick up my car, everyone was playing the blame game. He didn't do this, we've been short staffed, on an on. I paid my bill and upon leaving the mechanic made a comment about my engine. I said I did bring my vehicle in for any engine work. I had just had an engine replacement done, so nothing was wrong with my engine. As I got a few miles down the road my car started to vibrate, and would not go over 40mph. They sabotaged my car, they had it for over three weeks and when I took it to them it was running fine. The mechanic's are not knowledgable and they should have told me they couldn't identify the problem. Now I have the original pro to deal with and a sabotaged motor. BEWARE!!!

Decent and nice people, helpful but not able to fulfill my request which was a special case. Availability seemed to be pushed around a bit and price was a little unexpectedly high. Good however for basic services.

Was there the first time with a 2007 Kia Sedona to replace the flex pipes in the exhaust system. They came in on quote even though there were a few issues as it was a nasty job. Taking my 2003 Ford Escape in to have the flex pipe replaced and I am going to Fair Muffler because they do such exceptional work with no problems down the road!

Been doing business with them since 1990, the name says it all, they have always been fair to me, replaced 10+ mufflers and a couple cats. Be sure to keep your muffler warranty card for the next time. I have not had any other work done by them yet.

I got robbed at Butchs Exhaust on Oxford St. Crappy work. So i went to Fair Muffler on Coliseum where Timothy hooked me up. He cleaned off and fixed the issues with the last job and did an amazing job. I would highly recommend Fair Muffler to anybody, and deffinately ask for Timothy! He not only fixed somebody elses mess up for me and did it right, but he was very fair and understanding when he charged me for his work as well. I had already dumped a $189 into it, and Timothy only charged me $75 to fix it. Lesson learned, from now on ill go to Fair Muffler for all my exhaust system needs! Thanks again Timothy, God bless!

Aaron Stoffer, Manager, and his men, Chris and Derrick, helped my partner, Michael Looney, get back on the road when the muffler fell off his 1975 K5 Blazer as he was traveling through Fort Wayne, IN, recently. Aaron directed Michael to the second location, on Stellhorn Rd, where Derrick and Chris immediately began working on Michael's truck. He was back on the road with a new muffler within two hours. These guys are great!
