I love taking my car to Ernie s. At Ernie s I know I am going to receive great service at a reasonable price. Being a single female you worry about being taken at some repair shops, this is not a shop you need to worry about!

They were able to get me in the next morning and had my car fixed that day. They updated me through out the day. Very informative! I will definitely be sending family and friends to Ernie's

We were on a family trip to Wisconsin with a full car and a baby, hit a piece of debris that cracked the wheel. We went through our insurance who tried to get us a tow truck but without success. We were directed to Ernie's shop who personally sought out a local tow truck for us, came to us to pick up my entire family and took them to a restaurant, while I waited for the tow truck. After getting the car back, we both learned through our own efforts that it was impossible to get a replacement wheel for my car, they attempted to get it welded but were told the wheel wasn't salvageable. Eventually, they found 4 good wheels that were compatible with the car and matched the style. All of this took nearly 2 weeks to get resolved because of all the issues that came up along the way, but they kept trying and making calls until they could make it work. I can confidently say they went above and beyond to help our unique situation, and they have my absolute recommendation. If you are in the area in need of repair, go here.

I am thankful today for Ernie's Auto awesome service. I got a flat but could not get away from work to drop off my car. They came to my house, put on the spare and took it in. Put on the new tire and brought it back to my house. On a Monday after a holiday that must have been tough on their workload.

The team at Ernie's gave my vehicle a thorough examination to pinpoint the reason for the Check Engine light being on. It turned out there were multiple parts/ issues. They took the time to identify each one and locate the parts necessary (it's a vintage vehicle).They made sure to keep us apprised of the status of the repairs and completed same in as timely manner as possible.In the end, we received the same excellent service that we've come to expect from Ernie's and are very satisfied.Service: Auto exhaust system repair

I had drove 200 miles to go to my class reunion. My breaks went out on a Sunday afternoon (when I was going to head home). I started looking for places, and I was very particular. I have a 2007 Toyota Tacoma and it's my baby. Everything I read in the reviews from other people was so sincere. I'm a single, 58 year old woman, and I've spent my whole life not trusting mechanics. This place is is 'Women' owned and operated. The lead mechanic, Jose, was honest and sincere. I practically had my whole break system replaced. I brought it in Monday morning and it was done Tuesday by 2 (only because they had to wait for a part). They honestly care. You do not find that anymore. Integrity, excellence, and tell you what can wait (they don't upsell). God made sure my brakes didn't go out until I was in a safe place, and near the right place to have them fixed.

I cannot extend my gratitude enough for the professionalism, service, and excellence exhibited by Ernie's crew. I've had my vehicle serviced by this team for more than 5 years and even after moving out of state I still decided to have my vehicle serviced by them when visiting the Midwest because I trust these guys and gals (Renee, Heather, Jose, and others) with any mechanical concern. Prices are fair, knowledge on point, and transparent reports put any hesitations one may have about their vehicle at ease. Not only do they do a top notch job, but they take the time to educate you about your vehicle and affirm vehicle competency long term. Make these guys your go to! Rare to see trust and faith in a mechanic anymore. I only wish they could travel with me. The latest task that was performed on my truck was the R/R of an electrical switch. I wasn't surprised at the short time it took to do the job. For over 11 years, the team at Ernie's Auto Shop have kept my 1996 Ford Ranger in top mechanical condition, so I'm not surprised that I have driven it almost 500,000 miles . When I sense that something isn't right, I take my truck to the best professional mechanics available to me . The repair/maintenance is started with the warm greeting of Renee or Heather. If any automobile need any kind of repair/service, then the best place to be is at Ernie's Auto Shop in Zion IL.Services: Electrical, Brakes

Big thank you to Ernie and his entire staff! This was my first time at Ernie's shop. You guys not only did a wonderful job on my car, but your communication and follow up were impeccable! I have never had such wonderful service at any auto repair shop. You guys were informative proactive and fairly priced. I couldn't have asked for more. You absolutely floored me with your level of customer service. Ernie's has earned my business for many more years to come and I would gladly recommend you to anyone! Thank you for all that you do!

Was at Beach Park watching waves. We realized we had a flat tire! Tried to fix it ourselves. I called Ernies, they were there in 15 minutes!!! 3 very nice gentleman had it changed immediately!!We ended up needing a new tire, ordered and fixed!! They are the best!! Ernie's came as a recommendation to me from a friend and I will now be using them for ALL of my vehicle needs! They were honest, fair and completed work on time. Office staff is so friendly, which is a huge plus. Ernie and his crew have been providing us quality service for over a year. This is the place to go if you want quality and integrity. I have NEVER had that scared feeling that I may be getting taken advantage of with Ernie. This place is run like a family auto shop (which it is) with no surprises and quality workmanship which is always backed by a warranty. As long as we live in the area, we won't be using any other auto shop.I wish I could give it 6 stars...

I was trying many car services..Always disappointed. Been here many times & always went back home with smile on my face. Always bringing back the car really quick! Ernie always call to ask if he is aloud to fix something else too. Always faster than I thought. Always fixed. Price is fair. They know their job the best! I really recommend this lovely ppl :)My both parents also like Ernie s Auto Service the most.Greetings!

Visited Ernies for the first time yesterday, and I am beyond happy with my choice.Ernie is an old school, stand up, respectful man who shook my hand when I entered & even personally called me to tell me when my car would be done, ontop of explaining each of the fixes that I was looking for. The woman in the office who handled the billing was also personable & very nice to talk to.All around, it was a great experience, and I immediately noticed the changes in my car as soon as I exited the lot.If you're looking for a mechanic in Lake County, this is undoubtedly the place you'll want to go.I will be highly recommending this shop to my friends & family. Today was my first going to Ernie's, they gave me a ride home, and price was affordable, the car rides smooth again. I want to thank you for good service, I am a new customer. Thanks again!2020 2nd time for my alternator, great job again very nice people Heather, Ernie and the rest if his workers I did not meet, but I want to thank them all for the service of my car.

I take all of my cars even my luxury cars to Ernies Auto in Zion. By far he and his team has been absolutely the best mechanics and very honest about what is wrong with my cars and what I may need in the future. I feel like I'm family when I'm there. His entire staff is superb and very professional including his daughter and wife, I love them all. I use to take my car to the dealer and as much as I wanted to believe that they were being honest, they had the nerve to tell me who ever installed my brake work put them on backwards, I asked people that I knew that knew about cars whether that is possible and they all scratched there heads in dismay and said "Those can't be put on backwards" even Mr. Ernie laughed when I told him what the dealer said. The point is, I only went to the dealer so they could give me a loaner vehicle while they worked on my car but now I know for sure I'm better off taking my cars to Ernie's Auto and just renting a car for the day. It would still be better than going to the dealer and I trust Mr. Ernie with what he tells me. Ernie's auto is truly a gem tucked away in Zion and as long as I live here he will get my business. Thanks for such an awesome experience.

Ernie's Auto does fantastic work! They are very knowledgeable, super friendly and very very honest. They are straight with you and will never sell you something that you don't need. I highly recommend them to everyone.Keep up the first class service and work!

Been bringing my vehicles to Ernies now for about 4 or 5 years. Even our new cars still under warranty we bring to Ernie's. Ernie and his team are top notch. I have never once felt like he was trying to rip me off. He always tells me what is wrong, what needs to be repaired immediately, what "other things" may be going on and things I need to make a future decisions on. I don't mind the money that I spend there because they work hard and the service is wonderful. Not just Ernie and the mechanics - I have to include Mrs. Ernie and Heather as well. They make that place a place you want to come too - get coffee, donuts a movie and every channel that you could imagine. They will accommodate a private business conference call and an internet connection should you need it. I have no complaints what so ever. I have had many experiences with vehicle repair shops and Ernie's will always be at the top of the list. If this allowed for 10 stars Ernie's' would definitely get it from me. And if at any time I have a problem, I know that I can talk to Ernie and he will surely try to get resolution, within reason. For a small shop Ernie provides better service than the big name brand service centers. Ernie's will be my vehicle repair shop for the rest of my days for sure.

Ernie has always given me the best service I've ever had with a mechanic. He is reliable, flexible, and truly cares about the service he gives his customers. I actually live 20-25 mins away from Ernie's Auto now, but I still make him my go-to for looking over and fixing any of my vehicles. I've even paid extra on a tow to make sure I could get my stalled car to Ernie's. He's worth that.

I love doing business with Ernie. He's a good man and a good mechanic. He explains things in simple ways in which you understand. It really helps you feel comfortable knowing that you are going to get the job done right and at a good price.

I love Ernie's and I hate having to give a great review because it will make my appointment harder to get due to the rush. :) This place is full of integrity. I have taken my Chevy Equinox there and just when I think it's going to be a million dollars and a newborn baby... Ernie will call and say, "You don't need this right now, but you definitely need to handle this immediately." He could easily lie, cheat and steal but he's treated me and my family with nothing but respect and my cars are doing fine. Thanks Ernie and crew.The Camry needs a fixin'... see you soon. :)

I'm VERY late in posting this review. Sorry Ernie!My 1990 Miata had an intermittent problem when it would stall and not restart. The first time it wouldn't start I was at a CVS a few miles from where I lived. When I called Ernie's to arrange a tow, I was told if the tow driver wouldn't drop me off at my home, to let them know and they would come get me. I had it towed (the tow truck driver dropped me off at home) and they replaced spark plugs and performed some other needed maintenance.A few weeks later, it stalled again and I had it towed back to Ernie's. They spent 2-3 days trying to diagnose the issue. They found it, fixed it, and only charged me for the fix - no charge for the hours spent to diagnose the root cause. Talk about integrity!I live less than 1/2 mile from Ernie's and typically walk home after dropping my car off and walk there when picking my car up. The last time I walked in to pick up my car, Ernie told me they would be happy to pick me up anytime. I haven't taken them up on their offer but it's nice to know I can if needed!Everyone there is not only professional but so very friendly - not what I expected to find. Finding a mechanic that I can trust is worth more than my car's weight in gold. Kudos to Ernie's, his family and all the others who work there.

I toke my car here first thing in the morning when they opened at 8:30. I had an appointment. They never even looked at my car until after 4pm. After 5pm they said the problem was the water pump. So at this time of night they would get the part the following day. Finley got my car back the next night at 3:30pm for something with an appointment should have taken a day. Then this ended up not being the problem.Now I wanted to bring it back, but asked if I could have it looked at before noon. Ernie said he decides witch cars get looked at first. Why make appointments? I said I might have to look somewhere else. He said you should. I would have liked him to look at it because he know the history, but might be better off. I definitely wouldn't recommend, or go back. I should of said don't touch my car the first night, and went somewhere else. I had to anyways to get the original problem fixed.Update: The water pump Ernie's put in (that I still wonder if I really need at that time) didn't even last 50,000miles. Most water pumps come with a Limited Lifetime Warranty. I had to pay for a new one, because I refuse to go back. This was just another reminder to me of the mistake I made going to Ernie's.

I pulled in this shop with a flat tire not knowing what to expect. The tire was torn and not able to be fixed. The staff was very professional and went out of there way to make me and my step son feel comfortable. I decided to try to have the tire replaced where I originally bought them. So I asked if they can just put the spare tire on for me. They made me feel so comfortable and even listen to my venting from the bad experience I had at the previous place. When my car was ready I was not charged a dime and they were friendly. God bless them and their business for their kindness and hospitality. I ll never forget this experience.

My real name is Shane Kreuscher, I called Ernie's Auto Repair with what I thought could've been a potential big problem with my vehicle. It was Monday morning the second they opened. I explained my issues, the receptionist told me they didn't have any openings till Wednesday, I told her I needed my vehicle as trans portation to and from work so I'd have to think about it and I'd call back. So, in thinking about it, I feel I've always gotten fair honest service from the shop so I called back. Ernie explained that if he had a cancellation he'd be able to check it out. So rather then leave my vehicle in the hands of another shop I don't trust for good reasons, I brought my vehicle to his shop knowing he might not be able to get to it till Wednesday. Anyway Ernie called me that afternoon with A diagnosis told me what the repairs would cost and with my consent repaired my vehicle. When it was completed he called me to let me know and when I got there he showed me what the problem was and explained what he did to fix it. The service was great and well beyond my expectations I would recommend them to everyone needing automotive services. Thank you again Ernie and Ernie's staff.

Our family uses Ernie and we have really enjoyed the service. With four older vehicles we must have frequent flyer miles with him. He's honest and fair and very friendly service.
