I've been a client at Star Auto for almost 10 years now. Overall, I give five stars to Star Auto. I've brought in four different vehicles - two Toyotas, a Mazda, and a Hyundai for regular maintenance and repairs and am happy with the work they've done on them. They are quite competent and know their trade.They keep a very, clean and inviting facilities with free coffee and snacks in the spacious lobby. They may not be the cheapest, but competitively priced against dealerships. They have 4-year (3?) warranties on parts and labor which are covered nationwide within their network.They also have free loaner vehicles, mostly Toyota Corollas, so that you can drop off your car and then leave for work in a loaner car. You just need to fill up the tank before coming back. I'm sure its cost is included somehow in the price you pay for repairs and maintenance, but I'd say that's still a very smart, and perhaps shrewd, move by the owners to draw in more clients and keep them in this competitive suburb market. Honestly, I think that's one of the bigger factors for coming back to Star Auto even though there are dealers and other shops closer to my home.The location is very good as it is close to my kids' high school and my everyday route to work, so it's been very convenient for me. The only thing I miss, and it's not only Star Auto, is that I established some good personal rapport with the guys who handled my car, and then the next time I went, they were gone for some other place. But I'm glad the owners are still the same and they maintain their good quality and service. I was a bit concerned during the pandemic, but they figured out a way to stay open. I wish them well and hope the business continues to be successful.

Star Auto Authority is a service shop that will not only fix your mechanical headache, but will also help you reduce your distress with restoration of your peace of mind and your vehicle's reliability. Located in Vernon Hills they will get your car back into tip-top shape while providing a complimentary loaner. Can you believe it? A COMPLIMENTARY loaner! I haven t seen that anywhere else since a wealthy Uncle visited his Bentley dealer in California. Star Auto s staff is personable and a class above most other service departments. I have been a Car Guy since taking auto-shop classes in high school, at a time when new Beatles music was still being released. I put away my tools for servicing our own cars very many moons ago, in favor of a career in healthcare. While Star Auto is not cheapest, their staff is very personable and are among the most competent automotive experts around . . . All, while NOT being as expensive as the car dealers. Over the last several decades, they have saved us considerable money and aggravation with spot-on advice and preventative maintenance. Happy motoring.

I been having a several problems with my hrv and decided not to take my car to dealership anymore. They have a text message system that you can text to ask answer question if needed and Bill is so amazing. I know nothing about car other than the internet knowledge. All of associates are friendly and knowledgeable. This is definitely not a place that just wants your money like my old dealership I used to go to. The fact that you can take loaner after dropping off your car during lunch break is definitely a plus!

The staff is extremely knowledgeable. They take their time trying to make sure they have all the facts regarding what may be going on with your vehicle and honest about what they do or don't find. My car has then stumped and they let me know that. They didn't come up with things that weren't there to fix. They were unbelievably generous when it came to the cost because they took the entire day trying to find the issue of a noise I heard but they couldn't hear and took the entire day trying to analyze and look for what I had described to them. When I brought to what the other mechanics had said I needed done also they made me aware that I had done if this items did just 2 years before and I shouldn't have to those specific things and that at this moment it didn't have to be done but could be talked about at my next oil change. A long winded review, yes but the transparency of what they had done, what was needed & the price was not really anything I've gotten from other mechanics. I would highly recommend Star Auto Authority to any of my friends and family!

Would never bring my car here again. Both headlights went out on my car on my drive to work, so I called here because it was close and opened early. When I called, there was no mention that there was an $84 fee just to look at it, I was told this as I was walking out of the door after dropping it off. Also asked for an oil change. They upgraded to a full synthetic oil change without bothering to ask if that was what I wanted. I also asked them to call with pricing before doing anything, and they called me after the work was done. They knocked $5 off the $360 bill to "make up" for the oil change mess up. Wouldn't return and wouldn't recommend.

Greatly satisfied from the personalized service by Peter to the Out-the Door Wash! Shop is spotless. Totally professional atmosphere. Updates on the job in progress. When things went a bit sideways (defective part from Ford), the guys at Star were more upset about the delay than I was! Oh yeah, can t beat their loaner program! I have a brake job coming up in a month or so and you can bet the guys at Star will be on it!

First service visit- online scheduling and loaner car a huge plus. Pictures with the work estimate brought confidence in the needed repairs. Car wash at the end was a nice touch. Will bring in my wife s car next.

Terrible customer service experience. I would take my care in for a repair and then I would get it back with something else wrong. This happened multiple times. Then they would not even acknowledge that it was their fault. They wanted to charge me for some other service to fix the problem that I never had until I went there. Then when I contacted them to tell them what I experienced they never got back to me until I contacted them the 2nd time. When they got back to me he said one of the service advisors would call me and he never did. Wrote a third email and crickets.

Took my truck there and the team was amazing. Got my truck working. My service tech was Mike and he was on top of everything. They worked diligently with my car warranty company. I can always count on the techs here to do a fantastic job on my car. Started to bring our company vehicles here and even bring my personal car. Not everyone can & even wants to work on a Mini Cooper. But they do a great job, fair pricing & even offer loaner vehicles. Great communication & follow up!

Star Auto is a great, honest shop that backs their work and provides great service. I've never had a bad experience throughout the years working with them and the one time there was a hiccup they fully took care of my situation. You'll always have access to a complimentary loaner vehicle or ride to where you need to go when you bring your vehicle in for service.Friendly and knowledgeable staff gives great advice and support to build strong and loyal relationships with their customers.

Took my car here after being overcharged by the dealership for an issue with my AC. Got a mu h better quote and the service was done same day. I'll definitely only be going to Star Auto from now on.

Been bringing four different cars here for over a decade - for mechanical work as well as getting details + work at their body shop - and I'm not sure I've ever been disappointed. Very competitive pricing, flexible on parts if you want/need to bring your own, lightning fast service, and sparkling clean loaners all the time. Plus, free cookies and coffee in the lobby, if you want to wait!I know how hard it can be to trust a mechanic at times, but if you can't trust these guys, you can't trust anyone.

Star has very clean facilities and they communicate well. They do charge much higher rates than other comparable repair shops. Most recently they charged $155 to diagnose my car for what likely took 30 minutes of labor. $75-$90 I understand. $155 to diagnose? If you did not try to extract an extra $60 dollars, you would still have a customer.

Absolutely phenomena service. Ken was super helpful in getting me a quote and helping me discern between going through insurance and out of pocket. My car was repaired within 2 days and looks better than when I brought it in. Free loaner. Free car wash. They even did some extra painting on my car for free. Also used OEM parts (another local shop quoted me at the same price using aftermarket parts). Would highly recommend - you can't beat the service they provide.Service: Auto body & trim repair

My mom got a flat tire and was in a panic as she work locally and has a 45 minute drive home on the interstate. I picked up my mom's car and brought it over to Star Auto and asked what they could do. They took care of the flat in less than 30 minutes! And then when I asked where the nearest car wash was (to be that great daughter), Olsen said, "oh, we've got you covered!" They hand washed the car. Amazing. Would come here again without hesitation!! Great service, friendly staff!!Service: Auto tire replacement

I had an accident on Saturday night, I had buried my mother that morning, I was away from home and had great difficulty finding a collision shop near that location, so was my insurance company, most places said 4 to 6 weeks before they could even see me, then I remembered star auto in my town, called them and spoke to Charles,. They were wonderful, took me as soon as I was able to be towed there, had a nice newer model loaner waiting for me and are handling everything directly with my insurance company. What a relief to know that a reputable organization is handling my claim. Charles was very kind , offering sincere condolences on my loss. They have a new customer for life, I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I have been a customer of Star Auto ever since they opened in Vernon Hills. Chris and his technician team (most of whom have been employed there for years) are great. Although I took in my car for just an oil change, the mechanic found a substantial leak in my power steering pump (I had noticed some fluid spots in my garage). I got an honest evaluation of the problem and estimate to fix it before they proceeded. Chris also took pictures of a dead mouse on top of my transmission who had built a huge nest while my car was in my garage. What a mess (pest control technician is my next phone call). I probably could get my oil change, power steering pump, pump hose, cabin filter and engine cleaning done a bit cheaper somewhere else but Star Auto's policy is to warranty their PARTS AND LABOR for 3,600 miles or 36 months (whichever comes sooner). They also wash my car after each visit. That's customer service at it's best and is rare these days. I'll continue to be a loyal client and so are my children.

Constantly shown what a real shop should be like. Fair prices. Real consistent. Offer suggested maintenence based on your make and model. Honest about what needs replacing. And biggest of all they can actuality diagnose and correct issues. There are so many places in this area that will start with the least likely problem (easiest to swap out) and put you through the ringer, this place doesn't do this.Plus complimentary car wash and loaner!I've since moved a decent ways away but still come back for service because it's worth it and I can trust them.

Nice facility with state of the art equipment. Nice people and great service.However, they need a way to pay for the nice facility and unfortunately that means charging everyone as much as they possibly can.This is not a place that is interested in saving you money. They will charge top dollar and recommend every service possible. The only think cheap is their oil changes.All in all, if you re rich and not worried about money, it s a great place to take your car.Otherwise, I d suggest taking your business elsewhereService: Auto maintenance

Start Auto Authority is truly a place that goes above and beyond in providing a complete customer experience. Bill was very accommodating with working out a schedule to get my car in for service, and they provide free loaners! He provided sound advise and a comprehensive report showing what needed to be repaired from critical to recommended.This allowed me to choose the repairs based on my budget. There were no hidden costs and the repairs were completed in a timely manner. The shop is very clean and his crew did an excellent job with the needed repairs. My car now runs great and I have finally found a one-stop shop for all my auto needs. Thank you Star Auto Authority!

If you want your car in the best working condition take it to Star Auto Authority. They will fix what you ask them to and also tell you what needs to be done in the future. They gave me an itemized list of things that needed to be done to my vehicle. There was no pressure! They recommended doing one thing at a time to fit into my budget. Great Customer service & the establishment is immaculate! One of the biggest perks is the loaner car! Drop off the car for an oil change, hop into the loaner & run some errands while they work on your car! Star Auto Authority really is the best!

Star Auto Authority is the only place for our family vehicles from now on. We have always used them intermittently but now it s a must for all of our cars foreign or domestic. Update: I have been a customer here for over two years now, and they continue to provide service above reproach. They have taken care of us when our cars have had any issues, they always make sure we fully understand what our cars need or don't need, and we always feel like valued customers. Still highly recommended, look no further.Original Review: As a car guy, where I take my car and the quality of work done is very important to me. I'm probably an annoying client to deal with! Star Auto is hands down the best shop I have ever used. They are very knowledgeable, their prices are very competitive and they work directly with the insurance company when needed. On top of that, they have their own loaner fleet which they provide as a complementary service. That means no downtime while I wait for my car to be worked on!Thanks for taking care of me, guys. It is always a pleasure dealing with Star Auto Authority. The staff is very knowledgeable and definitely customer service oriented. They are honest about service needs and recommendations and truly consider the customer's vehicle maintenance goals in determining these. The work is excellent and pricing is within reason and competitive. They also offer free ancillary services such as car loaners, shuttle service and exterior car wash which is a definite plus. We have been dealing with Star Auto for many years and have never been disappointed. It is very comforting to have found a trustworthy mechanic for all our vehicles.
