I love my old car, but sometimes you need to give up on a car. Calvin isn't just a mechanic. He is a friend who will guide you on what makes sense for YOUR situation.One day my beloved car will have a problem that isn't worth fixing, and I can trust Calvin to let me know when its time has come.I'll never spend hours trying to self diagnose, out of fear of being 'scammed' by a less reputable guy. Going here didn't just fix my car. Calvin has taken dozens of future hours of STRESS out of my life.If you respect yourself, you need a guy for everything. He should be your car guy. He will always be my car guy.

Calvin is very honest and straightforward. I love his honesty. He was very detailed and make it clear on what my car needed and didn t over charge me. Won t go anywhere else again.

Excellent work! There was no wait to get my vehicle in and I had it back, running like new in no time! Great guy and great shop! I ll definitely be bringing my vehicles here for any work!

I was VERY excited to get work done here because the work that was done previously was just fantastic! Haven't anymore issues out of it.So, I didn't worry. He was VERY trusted even left the truck over the weekend.Called the place (while at work) to see if it was ready for pickup today. He said yes, and proceeds to say the other side is just as bad and needs replacing as well. Which was understood. NOT ONCE did he say anything about it being not suitable to drive.I'm just very disappointed in the service that was received. They didn't even drive the vehicle before giving it back, other than to back it in to a pickup spot. They took the money. And , basically told us that it wasn't suitable to drive after receiving the money. (due to a bad tire, and needing an alignment).The whole process was absolutely absurd.And Might I add, he use YouTube to fix parts. I feel as if you don't know how to do what's needing to be done. I truly feel that he should have stated that instead of playing with people's cars and money.After this I can't return.

I have tried four different mechanics (at least) in this area and have either found them to recommend unnecessary work or overcharge for work. CR Automotive is the first I've encountered that has done neither! Calvin tells it like it is, explains why certain parts are important, and charges a fair price. CR Automotive is easy to communicate with and gets work done within the day. I will be back (but hopefully not soon!)Service: Brakes

Looking for an honest mechanic? Looking for someone who won t charge for unnecessary work? Need someone who s willing to explain your cars condition and how best to manage repairs?Calvin is your guy. Calvin went above and beyond to provide expedited, professional service at an extremely fair price. He was very responsive and showed me all of his work and everything he removed and replaced. I usually don't write reviews, but I feel like I have to in this case. Calvin is awesome! He came out on a SUNDAY NIGHT to see if he could get my car started before even talking about bringing it into the shop. I couldn't believe he was willing to do that, but it really was amazing, and he got my car up and running in no time. With that kind of service I'd expect to be spending a pretty penny, but he only charged $30. Well worth it and I will definitely not hesitate to call on him for any other services.

Calvin does great work! I've called him for years when I had a vehicle with issues, I've never been disappointed, work is always timely with fair prices. When you're not from the area, it can be very nerve racking to find a reliable and honest person to take care of your car without any hassle. Calvin really is the best at what he does! He's the only mechanic I trust with my beloved Mustang. He works diligently and is passionate about his work. I've used this shop twice now. He provides quality service at very reasonable rates. His hours are very convenient as well. I definitely recommend this shop for your auto repair needs. I have had to go back for more repair service since I wrote the original review. As I drove down the road today and I was warm and comfortable in my car despite the cold temps outside, I was once again thankful for using this shop. The part needed to repair my hvac issue turned out to be the most elusive car part to obtain. The part was never found. However, Calvin still was able to repair the issue. Despite spending a large amount of his valuable time trying to hunt down this part and putting in extra work to repair the issue, he kept his rate completely fair. It's so nice to know such a shop exists in our area!

I had some issues with my breaks and needed them looked at sooner than later. I had called and spoke with Calvin who was able to get me in same day. He closes later than most shops (7:30) which honesty, that and his reviews are why I went with him. He was punctual and honest and my car has never driven better-for real. Relatively minor problem that left my old truck unusable until fixed. Calvin was able to schedule me asap and the initial quote was fair. I travel for work and being that I have an older truck I often need work done. Without any local knowledge I choose my business based on how my initial conversations go with the mechanic. Calvin communicated the problem effectively and set reasonable expectations. He then went above and beyond by fixing what I needed without the part I had purchased. It all came out under his quote & now I can save $80 on a part I no longer need. I hope I don't need his services again during my short stay here but I would recommend him to anyone.Service: Battery

The only person I trust with my car! Calvin is honest, dependable, fair, and knowledgeable. He always answers his phone and listens to my sometimes ridiculous questions and even talks me out of panic attacks ! He is truly an amazing and mechanic and I highly recommend using him if you want an honest and dependable mechanic . First thing you do when you move to a town is find a good honest mechanic, unfortunately I didn t find C R Automotive until right before I was moving. He did great work for a very fair price. I knew I was getting a honest mechanic just by talking to him. His rates are great for skilled labor and he charged me for what it should take to get a job done not all the extra time. Very impressed by the professionalism, patience, and compassion this business shows! I was recently stranded an hour from home early in the morning. Knowing that he couldn t get to my car right away...the owner still stayed on the phone with me for 30 minutes n went over all the ideas he had to help me get my car started so I could get home. Without his knowledge who knows how long I would ve been sitting out there. You don t find too many people like that these days ...the world needs more people like you!

Best auto repair in town. Very professional, honest, explaining in detail the problem and the challenges. He solved the problem of my car with very reasonable price. Calvin is helpful and honest. I changed oil here. He found out the problem of rust on the frame of my car and gave me some useful suggestions. And great price! You can take your own parts.

So helpful and informative, walked us through everything and really knows what he is talking about. Seems to be able to work on jusy about anything you could throw his way and has years of experience with mechanic work. Has lots of connections in the area and will do whatever he can to get you the best possible value on parts, towing, and labor. We just recently moved to the area and will definitely return to him for any other repairs and maintenance in the future. He is a great guy, family man with the customers best interests at heart. 100% recommend.

Excellent service! Extremely friendly and flexible and will work with you with patience and a positive attitude. My car wouldn't start on a Saturday afternoon and they came to my house to try to jump it first but it didn't work. So they arranged a tow truck for me. Then they ordered a new starter for me and I paid autozone over the phone. They even drove my car back to my house for me! Wow! God bless them. I would give them my business again for sure! They walked me through everything and explained every detail patiently. So grateful for honest and nice auto repair like this.

Let me tell you about C.R. Automotive repair ...*Comes highly recommended by friends*On a moments notice he made himself available --on a weekend evening-- for drop off and overview of the problems.*He is knowledgeable, kind and communicates directly.I am grateful that my sad car is in his hands.Standby for updates after he makes it well again.

I have had horrible experiences getting my car worked on and a friend if mine referred me here and I was impressed on how efficient and quick he was to respond and he answered all my questions ect. He was reasonable with pricing and everything good quality work I'm not taking my car anywhere but here moving forward!!!!!:)Side note I absolutely loved meeting his dog so friendlyService: Brakes

The best in Champaign-Urbana area. He basically cleaned up after another shop's lousy job on my car and fixed it. He is trustworthy! Because of him, my subie is alive and happy! Thank you very much, Calvin!!

Extremely knowledgeable about cars and there is no way u can beat his rates! Fixed my car for 260$ when 2 other local garages quoted the job at 965$ and 940$. Thank you, you have a lifetime client in me.
