After years of buying vehicles at "traditional" dealers, I appreciated the straight forward approach and customer service. I had questions about the extended warranty after the sale which where answered. Only reason, I gave 4 stars and not 5 is could have spent a little more time showing or explaining vehicle. However, since not a single brand dealership, I realize it would be challenging to learn all about each make and model. None the less, would recommend, just do your own research on vehicle features - well worth the hassle free environment!

First time purchasing with CarMax in Tinley. Emily Smith was a wonderful sales rep that was very transparent with what was being charged and why it was being charged. She made the whole process go by smoothly and has a great sense of humor, it felt like I was sitting down with a cool aunt the whole time. I m very pleased with my 2019 GMC Acadia and besides some minor cosmetic problems it is in great condition and drive great so far! I hope that remains the case over the next couple of years but only time will tell Anyways, I hope to build a life long friendship with my sales rep and the company overall! Will definitely be referring future friends/family to Emily

From the first contact on the phone to the minute I left with my beautiful car it was a pleasure. My salesman was Erik and he was so nice, he was not pushy and calmed my nerves because the last thing I wanted was a car payment. I thanked him as did my friend a few times for being so patient and not pushy, as he replied " That is not the way you win a customer" great customer service from this man is what kept me looking until I found something I wanted. I bought a car I wasn't expecting to purchase but I love it. Erik called me a week later to make sure i still was happy with my purchase, I replied I just love her!!! Great place to check out if you are looking

My sales lady Tara Gary was the best. She was knowledgeable, communicative, pleasant and put my ease about purchasing my Lexus RX 350L. The transition was smooth and effortless and I was out of there in record time very pleased and happy as a lark!

I went to sell my car; it wasn't working correctly and i just didn't want to deal with it. The office staff were professional and fair. They did mark down my online estimate but that was expected with the fixes that needed to be done. I appreciate that they weren't judgmental and were able to help me out quickly and efficiently. Mike took care of my paperwork and I had a check in hand within the hour. I would come back to CarMax again.

We completed a purchase at this store and were so pleased with our experience. We had a vehicle shipped from another CarMax location. Though that process took longer than expected (due to time needed for the other state's DMV to send the title), once the vehicle arrived it was such an easy process. We made an appointment, drove the vehicle while they appraised our trade in, and we left with our new vehicle in a total of maybe 2 hours. No haggle, no stress, friendly staff, and a super easy transaction.

Buyers beware!!! (Chicago location) CarMax may tell you if a car has been damaged. but they will not always tell you the extent of the damage. In fact, they minimized the extent of the damage on the vehicle we purchased. LOOK CAREFULLY at the entire vehicle! We were told that a 20-minute test drive was all that was allowed. What a con. In addition, NO amount of the purchase can be completed with a credit card. Their website is VERY misleading in this. They WILL NOT accept any CC payment for the vehicle. I just wrote a personal check for the $27K and was done with them. They will also try VERY HARD to have you buy their warranty coverage. DO NOT do it. It is very expensive and good luck using it in the future. All in all, I have nothing positive to say about the experience. FIRST and LAST time I do CarMax.

The buying process was great BUT there were chips in the front and back windshield. I called car max and they said there was only one!!! They fixed it but it sticks out like a sore thumb. The other two I will have to pay for no doubt, because they say there was only one chip. Don't think I would buy a car there again.

They sold me a lemon. I have had the car for about 7 months and have so far had 3 major issues with the car. I purchased a 2017 Honda CR-V from this Car Max location May 30th 2022. Since then I have had part of my door call off almost immediately, my fuel injectors and lines went bad causing all of my dash lights to come on and all of these warnings come on my dash in the middle of the highway almost causing an accident, now most recently my engine is not warming. They refuse to work with my to find a solution for the most current issue and I m at my wits end at this point. I am reporting them to the BBB and I will be contacting a lawyer. I understand things go wrong and some things are unavoidable but at the time I purchased the car I was told it was in perfect condition and a great buy. This all seems like a lie and the unwillingness of Car Max to help is really out of line. I got an extended warranty when buying the car as they assured me this was such a great value and it will save so many head aches. Instead they consistently have no appointments and then when you are forced to take your car somewhere else they will not reimburse you for the deposit that is required. The service manager is unprofessional, condescending, and should not be working in a customer facing role. I am incredibly disappointed by not only Car Max service but the entire organization. I am not sure what the solution to this situation is but I am incredibly regretful of my choice in purchasing a car with them. I would also caution anyone who was thinking of purchasing a car with them to rethink it .

It was a fairly efficient process. Our sales consultant, Nick Manzella, was friendly and helpful. We are very happy with the new car, but still think we should've been offered more for the car we traded in.

First time buying a car, was connected with the sales consultant Emily and she made the whole process easy, and had a great sense of humor too. We were already sure of the car we wanted because we researched well and the whole process would have been less than an hour if only our insurance company worked as well as carmax! Thank you Emily and the carmax team who made this happen, so happy to have a Buick again.

Truly amazing experience!!! I will always use carmax from now on for any of my future purchases .. they have been so patient and kind and easy going with no pressure . It s one of the best experiences I ve ever had at a dealer ship and Jennifer is truly amazing . She really helped me with peace of mind . Everyone who works here is great and I ll forever support and go to Carmax . Thank you soo much !!!!

I purchased my car in early 11/2023.First, i was told to come back a day or two before Thanksgiving to receive my spare key. I was told there were no other days to come since the holiday season was approaching, and they were either booked or closing. I went back, like I was scheduled to, and was told the mechanic who specialized in spare keys was not in and that a packet that I had to take to Florida, being that I am from Florida, needed to be picked up. I took the packet back to Florida and Florida DMV told me the packet was incorrectly filled out so I needed to return back to Chicago to have it fixed. I returned to Chicago for it to be fixed and I had to go back to Florida to submit paperwork over again to the DMV which was an inconvenience. And I was told to reach back out to Carmax in January after the holiday season for my spare key which I did and was told the mechanic had been on-and-off the schedule inconsistently and that I had to be sent to a Nissan dealership to get my key which just happened a few weeks ago. Though I ve had my car since early November.

My experience with CarMax was excellent. My salesman, Edward, was so helpful, professional and has a great sense of humor. There was a glitch with the title for my trade-in, but that was resolved very quickly and I am now driving the best car I have ever owned. I would definitely recommend CarMax and my salesman, Edward, to anyone looking for a car. The people in the business office were also very professional and so helpful. I dealt with Christine and Marie.

I purchased my Jeep Compass with the help of Jim Flessor, Sr. Floor Sales Consultant Diamond Level, of Carmax in Tinley Park, IL, and he did a fantastic job. The process was smooth, quick (only in the dealership for 2 hours and 45 minutes) and seamless. The beautiful cashier, Arianna , was very helpful as well informing me how to contact the bank to increase my daily spending limit for the down payment. Every time I ve purchased a car through CarMax it s always been a hassle free quick and efficient process. I ve never been there more than 3 hours. They input my info,tell me how much I m approved for, I pick a car, they finance it and I m out the door.

As a former employee, I already knew what to expect. But it has been years since I've actually purchased a vehicle. I had gone to another traditional dealer prior to making my purchase at CarMax and the experience there reminded me why I still stand behind CarMax. My experience was smooth, fast and seamless. This was a fourth vehicle we purchased with Car Max and the experience was, as always, great! This was our second vehicle we purchased from Jamill Canteberry and as was the first time, his professionalism, knowledge, kindness and his overall performance made these two experiences with purchasing a vehicle from Car Max truly exceptional. He is an exceptional Sales Consultant and I hope that his exceptional performance is rewarded in some way by Car Max. If the time comes again for us to purchase another vehicle from Car Max we will definitely be requesting Jamill as our Sales Consultant!

One supervisor was excellent answering every question I asked Concerning vehicle.Everything else was fine until they handed me my keys.Only One key fob and one valet key. Citing their standard we are only required to give you two working keys. When I required about a second key fob, The First Lady was rude at the service desk, which instantly rubbed me the wrong way. I asked for a supervisor, After a long discussion with a supervisor and then a head supervisor , He offered to provide an additional key which later turned out to be at a discounted rate for 2nd key fob. As a repeat customer I feel this information should be disclosed before papers are signed . Again I have 60 days to return. Sometimes you have to take a loss for principled sake. Im still considering my options.

The only thing this place has going for it is the large variety of cars and the fact they leave them unlocked.. If they weren't unlocked I would give them 1 star. We showed up without an appointment(like most everyone does when car shopping). There may have been a total of 3 customers talking to salesman/browsing the cars and I saw 10-15 salesman/women. But for some reason it took 45 minutes for anyone to contact us. This is absolutely ridiculous when most of their staff is staring at the wall or just hanging out with each other. That's ok though I'll give someone else my money we were able to narrow down our car selection just through sitting in and looking at the cars.

CarMax prices for used cars are not the cheapest. However, you get what you pay for, the confidence that your purchased used car from this CarMax store in Tinley Park is just as good as if it was a brand-new car.. If you ever get tired of getting ripped off by used car dealers then come to this CarMax and ask to speak to Emily Smith.I was extremely happy with our sales rep. Emily Smith. She explained everything to us and helped us find the exact vehicle we'd been looking for. She truly went above and beyond to make sure the whole car purchase experience for us was as smooth and worry-free as it always should be.Thank you so much, Emily, for being such a wonderful person..
