Today I went to visit a friend for the first time at Dixon Correctional facility. When I left the four hour visit, a fan under the hood of my car was still running and my battery was dead as a doornail.I have jumper cables, but a prison parking lot didn t feel like the kind of place you wander around asking strangers for help.I called AAA but they couldn t find any tow trucks within a 90 mile radius. So I called you guys because your website mentioned roadside assistance. The lovely woman who answered the phone said there was no one available. I asked if she could recommend another tow company and explained (somewhat panicked) that I m from Chicago and I have no idea where I am or what I m going to do.She put me on hold and then came back to say she s got a guy but it ll be about 20 minutes. I told her I d already been waiting an hour so 20 minutes sounded like a dream.Sure enough, 20 minutes later a nice man in a red truck pulled up and jumped my car in one try. I called to pay, thanked everyone profusely, and was on my way!I couldn t believe the kindness of your team in figuring out a way to get me home.

Highly recommend Slim-n-Hanks. Minor car accident, hit on the side of my vehicle. Car was in the shop for about 3 weeks total. Lane was great to work with. Communication was great with him and the office as well. He took care of everything in a timely manner and very helpful as well. Will definitely recommend this body shop. Got to me quick to give me a quote. My quote was sent the same day. Must be a pretty good place because they can't get my car in till Aug. So let's hope all goes well. Bet all in all fast service for the most part and friendly.

Slim n Hanks towed my car and did a great job. Very honest company. What they quoted me was what they charged. No hidden fees. I would definitely use them again!

Was never informed that I had a $50 a day storage fee on top of the $150 flat rate plus the $200 before even getting the information about location of vehicle

I dropped my Vehicle off 20 minutes before Enterprise rent a car scheduled to pick me up. I was soooo disappointed when I was asked to sit outside and/or leave. I sat in my car luckily I brought my spare key until they showed up. Enterprise was early and picked me up minutes before the original time. Won't use this facility in Sterling again. Do yourself a favor and use their Dixon office they are right next to Rent-a-Car.

Had to have our jeep towed after an accident. Went in and spoke with the lady at the desk. The tow invoice said the wrong date. The accident happened the previous day and we were going to be charged for 3 days of storage. I pointed out the accident happened the previous day. She argued with me. I asked her to check with the tow truck driver and I asked for 2 estimates one for my car and one for the jeep. I was told the person was at lunch. I asked to be called with an estimate. No ones called us back. It's been almost a week. Meanwhile we are racking up storage charges every day. Maybe it's because we only have liability insurance for coverage. When I mentioned this her whole attitude changed. I was told the owner might make a deal with us so we could get the jeep back. It would be nice if they would call us with an estimate.

I got my car stuck in a ditch this morning, and Brett Holcomb came out and got me out of the ditch and didn't do any more injury to my car. I have been doing business with him for 45 years.It was first with his dad's slSim and now it has come to doing business with his son Ross. He has continued the tradition of doing amazing repairs, giving you a fair price and getting the vehicle done as quick as possible.I highly highly recommend this business!!

Jeff at Slim and Hanks Towing came through for us in such a big way when we needed emergency and long distance towing. Cannot say enough good things. Professional, on time, knew what the heck he was doing! Highly recommend!

Useless and a pain to deal with. I'll definitely be using someone else now.My car was damaged in an accident. State Farm suggested we take it to Slim N Hanks for the body work and Ken Nelson for the mechanical repair, I agreed. I made it very clear to two different people at Slim N Hanks that are NOT supposed to work on the mechanical damage. I called multiple times to confirm this and they were pushy both times, but finally agreed. 2 weeks later I get a call to pick up my car and they did all the mechanical work and body work. I instructed them to remove their mechanical parts and tow it to Ken Nelson to be completed. They deliberately ignored what i requested and ended up prolonging my repair by more than a week. Not good service, and even worst of all they were dishonest. I would avoid them if you can.

Swift installations. Reasonable prices. Just one complaint regarding window motors and switches: my window was stuck in the down position. They thought I needed a new motor, so I had one installed. The window still didn't work, so I had to pay an extra $75 for a switch to be installed. So I don't know if they made a mistake in thinking a new motor needed to be installed, or if replacing the motor had to be done first, or if they just made a mistake. Either way, it cost over $200 just to get the window to roll up and down. The old hand cranks were just fine!

This company took my truck that the insurance had a totalled and fixed it like brand new. Laine is a superman. Made recommendations that saved us a bunch. We'll recommend to everyone. Thanks to the whole crew!

We were in town for a funeral, while our car mysteriously locked us out of it. On December 12th. 1 phone call and they were there in 15 minutes... It didnt even take the guy 5 minutes to get in. Very professional and very very affordable great rates great service an awesome small town business!

Accidentally pumped gas in my diesel pickup, I realized it before I completely filled up. The gal at the station called them to help me out, they were there in a reasonable time but had to wait a little longer for the big rig truck to arrive since I had a gooseneck trailer hooked up. Being on a Sunday no one was able to get the gas out for me and they weren't able to help me with that since they did body work, not mechanical. Since I know a few things about my truck I said "I need a few wrenches and other supplies, if you can help me with that I can Handel the situation." he was very helpful with that and getting some hose and cans to pump the gas into along with fresh diesel to get me to a filling station. I was not from the area so it made a huge help on my journey. Two thumbs up on their service!!

Horrible experience, they received my car for almost four months and keep telling me the car is almost done. Unprofessional, never received a phone call from the company giving me ANY update. I did not call them for the first two months then started calling for updates. Wondering how they have such great service reviews??? Just looked at my car today barely looks touched.

My wife called me about 30 minutes ago stranded on the side of the road between Dixon and Sterling Il with a blown tire (we are in the process of moving to Wisconsin and I am already up in Wisconsin) so I Google towing services for her and the 1st one to pop up was Slim-N-Hanks (they have done work for us before) gave her the number she called and roughly 30 minutes passed before they could get to her understandable as it is getting kinda late this happened around 7:30 P.M. their tech was friendly and courteous even dropped my wife off at our house and lowered his trailer so she could get her groceries out. Best Repair Shop In The Area!!!!!!!

People really shouldn't advertise 24 hour towing if they don't intend on offering that service. I still haven't received a return call from this place either.

This is for the dixon location at least, there professional, fast , very good quality of work and fair priced. Started taking my vehicles to them over a year ago and they are the only place i will go from now on
