I was not able to have a diagnostic done on my car at Midas in dixon when I called. However, the gentleman I spoke with seemed extremely knowledgeable and willing to help when he had time available. Seems like a great place to have vehicle serviced.

Stay away from this location!!!! A classic upsell mechanic shop, but literally keep talking you into it.On top of it all they left my car in the on position(not running but in the position that allows electronics to be on without burning gas) with the key in when we came to pick up, with radio, fans, windows half down and interior lights on which killed the battery sitting in the lot.Never had electric issues before I went here for an unrelated brake issue, ridiculousNot only that but they left the seat and floor filthy, I get the mechanics have to get in to move it but at least set a towel down guys

Went in with a tire that wouldn t stay inflated and they said I had a bent tire stem. They replaced it and the next day my tire was flat again. I went in for a second time and they ended up charging me twice for the same issue. My tire still has issues after that second visit. I will not be revisiting.

I had new tires put on with the sensors and the sensors don't work and my alignment was off. Kept going back to resolve it and I won't be going back.

This review is so long overdue. I have been going to Dan at Midas for years with both an older and more recently a newer vehicle and he has gone over and above expectations every time. He and his mechanics are knowledgeable, honest, and quick to complete repairs. I can t recommend him and his team enough. The owner here is such a charming man. His staff are very friendly and do great work!! I bought new tires in Nov 2021, and stopped by today because the air pressure was low. They plugged the tire (I didn't know it was punctured)I highly recommend this ppace!!Service: Tires

Very friendly. Let me see the work being done and ask questions. Didn't try selling me more than I needed. Took an hour to put a muffler on. Very popular. Dan the owner nice guy who knows how to do business and is very respected in the community.

Eric at the front desk is very nice. Questionable service by mechanics though. Went in for oil change and requested tire rotation. Had to go back in when I noticed a loose piece in the front of my car afterwards along with a strange new grinding sound upon light acceleration as well as my wheels shaking at speeds of 55-60mph. Took it back in and they claimed they did not rotate the tires on my first visit so they did that and came back to tell me that both of my front breaks needed to be replaced. Quote for 2 break pads was $160 for parts and labor. Thankfully I know how to change my own break pads and am aware that I can replace all 4 break pads and rotors for that price or less. I also know that the grinding sound was not upon breaking originally. Now I am left with odd sounds with light acceleration and breaking along with the wheels shaking at 55-60mph. Prior to my second visit I had not noticed the grinding with breaking. My coworker who car pooled with me confirmed that they had not noticed it either. Not sure what happened there but I feel it is important to note the state of your car before and after bringing it in to them to be safe. Got a second opinion on the acceleration grinding sound as well as the wheels shaking. This other mechanic said they did not balance the tires properly and thankfully he was able to balance them which fixed the shaking and acceleration sounds.

Stop by today for a tire repair issue. I was 1hr + from home. Was fixed in a timely fashion, friendly customer service and fair price.

Went in to get the a/c recharged a few weeks ago. I noticed a couple days later the custom rim on my jeep was badly scratched up, like they ran into it with something. Now im having issues with my engine combustion. Not sure its related but the way i see it, the scratched rim itself is a sign of the respect they have for the customer. I will never bring anything there again. Been trying to find a good shop for awhile now and this is not it i guess.Service: Air conditioning

I've visited (Sterling) Midas multiple times for the vehicles in our family. I've never had a reason to complain. On several visits I've felt that Dan and the other mechanics have done more than expected.

We had apt today get. Our truck fixed. They called bfore we took truck in giving us a bill amount I said. Our truck isn t even there & checked yet. they had another. Truck there with our name on bill we hadn t went yet. He gav a us a scribbled estimate then. Still had other trucks lice # crossed out then put out Lic beside. . Somthing wasn t right There today. not going back Dan used to be. Good. office guy. Now Not knowledgeable. & rude. Very disappointed. We used this business for years. Today was so off. We won t be back.

went to have my brakes done, when I walked in the door the secretary had to finish whatever she was doing on her cell phone before she even said hi! dropped my car off and when I picked it up after hours, I noticed that my brakes were softer than when I dropped it off. I called the next day had to take my car back they had it for a few hours and said that I now have a brake line leaking. This was not an issue when I dropped my car off the day before. When I expressed my frustration with Dan, he said "what you think that I did this". Not one time did he apologize or try to fix the situation. all he said was it would be a 550.00 - 600.00 job and it would take all day! I asked him to being my car back to me and I took it to Pillars which they charged me half of what he was going to charge me and the job was done RIGHT the first time!!!!! I WILL NEVER TAKE ANY OF MY CARS THERE EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went in to get my brake pads replaced. They showed me my very worn brake pads and told me it was a good thing I decided to get them replaced. Today I found out they literally didn't even replace the brake pads and just took the old ones out. Now I'm dealing with a very expensive issue because these people can't figure out what they're doing.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Body & Trim, Brakes

Had my car towed in this place to bleed the brakes,after them working on car they didnt have a clue how to get air out of master cylinder and abs unit,insted dan told us abs unit was bad and used abs unit was 920.00 extra , I said, I come to pick up car charged me 220.00 for working on car and brake pedal almost to the floor,I had to get the air out of brake cylinder and abs unit myself with speed bleeders,a simple solution, they have a lack of mechanical ability at this place,the dan guy is rude and cant repair your vehicle properly, and i been telling them i want a full 220 dollars refund for months now since they tried to scam me and they are a joke.Service: Brakes

Pretty good quick work of course they added on extra work like everyone fears but they let me inspect the repair needed while my vehicle was on the lift before they attempted the work good customer service would be 5 stars but the place is unkept and nasty and looks like someone lives in the bathroom.

I was on the road from SD to Chicago and had to emergency stop to change my oil. They didn't try to charge me for extra stuff, it was reasonably priced, the staff and people there were incredibly friendly, and I was back on the road within an hour of stopping in. Thanks, Midas!

If I could give no stars I would. They replaced front brakes on our car and ended up getting air in right front line. They over charge and also order most expensive part possible. Go to Moores if you can. They are so much better and don't over charge and order most expensive part possible.

Called for a quote on tires gave the size and make and model of my car. They ordered the wrong size and said it was my fault. Now the size they ordered would never fit of my make and model, then tell me the cost would be $175 more. How stupid do they think people are? That is why I repeated the info several times! Oh yeah great customer service....if you want to waste your whole day. Then when I get there to pick it up a half hour later it wasn't ready. The tires were off. Okay so you thought you could blame the "mix up" on me and I would just pay the extra......NO I DON'T THINK SO!!!

Dan Pontnak's Sterling IL Mida's is ALWAYS well run, as the employees do the right stuff in caring for our vehicles needs there. When they gave me my estament they forgot to add in the labor so when I got my bill it was $300 more then I was quoted. I will not take my vehicles there again. Every other mechanic I have been to puts an estimated labor cost in there too.
