My husband purchased his car here and Kevin was amazing. He helped out with all our needs and found him the car within his budget and one that looked great inside and out. The price was great! We called with questions and he responded within minutes. We definitely will purchase another one from here. We definitely recommend South Elgin Auto to anyone looking for a nice car at a reasonable price.

Great used car buying experience! Kevin has a smaller, independent business and that s what makes him stand out as the ideal place to buy your next used car! Direct and honest with none of the negative experiences you often get when buying a used car from a typical dealership . Very good condition SUV at a good price, clean, and he handled the tags and license processing on the spot. He s also a gearhead and knows cars and doesn t just sell them. When I had questions during and after the purchase, he was very attentive, polite, and extremely helpful. Not saying I want to buy another used vehicle right now but when I do, I know where I m going first. Give your business to Kevin and help the local, honest, independent dealer! We need more of them.

Kevin was great. It s not often you buy a car in your life, but he made the process very easy. He was very easy to talk with and let us test drive the vehicle we ended up getting. He was also honest about issues we might encounter. He handled the paper work and was very clear about what everything was in the cost. That saved us a painful trip to the DMV and several phone calls to handle all the processing. I also appreciate how it felt like we were really working with a guy who does this work because he genuinely enjoys it. Love seeing passionate entrepreneurs.

I found Kevin's dealership by accident on Facebook marketplace while I was looking for a "new to us" replacement car for my son. South Elgin Auto Sales selection was great and the prices were fair but what caught my eye was a 1999 Rav4 with only 100k miles that looked almost new inside and out. Even though we came in late on Saturday, Kevin made sure that we are taken care of, let us take our time with test driving the car and going over everything and the car looked as good as in the photos and everything was working great. We bought the car on the spot with cash, transferred old plates and the process took only probably 20 min or so. Drove the car on the highway and it had no problem keeping up with the traffic going 80mph. No rattles, no steering wheel shaking - it is perfect! Took it to my mechanic to make sure I didn't make any mistake and after going over everything he said that we've got ourselves a gem and if he was in a market he would definitely pick it up himself.Thank you Kevin for being a solid and honest dealer that makes sure your cars are in the condition that you describe them to be. Definitely will come back to you when I'm in the market for another car.

Fastest and least stressful car buying experience I have ever done. We love our Corolla and South Elgin Auto Sales has the best deals. Highly recommend doing by if you're looking for a good used car at a reasonable price!

I never thought I d say this, but here s a used car dealer whom I would buy from again. Got what looks like a good car for what seems like a fair price, plus he stood behind his warranty and went above and beyond on a customer service matter.

Just had a terrible experience buying a total lemon 2007 VW Passat Wagon from this place. Bottom line, never buy a car that you've not seen before. Most places, including this one, do the bare minimum inspection of their cars and, in most instances, they don't have the specialist knowledge to know what to look for in the first place. I paid too much for a car that I was told was in good order, and it has been a living nightmare ever since. First the front tires didn't hold air, so I replaced the tires and tire pressure sensors ($600). Shortly afterwards, I discovered that the exhaust pipe was severed in half right at the middle resonator, so I tracked down and installed a cat-back exhaust system ($1,800). Then, after a week, both rusty front brake calipers froze to the rotors, forcing a total front brake job ($1,300). The air diverter rod is broken, so air only comes through the front facing vents, meaning no defrost whatsoever. The steering column lock defective light comes on periodically, rendering the car immobile. I pulled the spark plugs to discover they're original and engine oil has entered the tubes (needs new valve cover gasket). The car sounds like a chainsaw at idle, so the cam chain tensioner no doubt needs replacing. 100% total nightmare at a time when I just needed a dependable car to get my girlfriend to work. You should be ashamed of yourselves, South Elgin Auto Sales.

Come here if you want to buy a used car. I bought a car before coming here and had to return it from all the issues it had, which would have been more than what the car was worth. I ended up looking online at all the dealerships and came to this one. Car runs smooth like butter and super clean. Kevin is honest and doesn t pressure at all. I would send anyone I know to him if they need a car.

I never expected to buy a car from a small used-car dealer, much less write a five-star review, but live and learn. Kevin sold us a terrific, high-mileage Camry at a very fair price. When a sensor light came on just after the sale, he put in several hours (plus parts) to quickly resolve the problem. At every point along the way, from my first email through the final repair, his service and integrity were beyond reproach. Where before I've usually bought new cars to avoid unethical dealers, now I'm leaning toward buying used again next time, so we can keep dealing with Kevin.

Our experience here was amazing. When we pulled up, the vehicle we came to see was outside and started, ready for us to test drive. We walked up to the vehicle and within a minute Kevin was outside and offered to answer any questions. He was wonderful to work with and made things so easy. We did end up buying the vehicle from him, and we are so happy that we did! Will definitely be checking his inventory next time we need a vehicle!

One of the best used car dealers I ever worked with! We bought a white Toyota Camry from Kevin and he went above and beyond what we anticipated. There was a minor issue with the vehicle and he double triple checked and fixed the issue!!! Amazing, thank you again!! Will be coming back for sure on our next vehicle.

Hello! Just bought a 2008 Dodge Dakota. Kevin was very friendly and understanding. He Let us test drive it and told us to take our time. Very honest and hard working. Let us look at the truck and told us many times if we had/have any questions to not hesitate to ask. The entire process was very smooth. So far the truck is great. I love that all his viechles for sale have complete car fax. Very transparent and very honest.I also personally appreciate that he had no issues with me translating for him and my dad. I sometimes feel like some people don't like talking to people when there's a language barrier but he was very nice and engaging.Honestly Kevin if you can find me an Rx-7 fc with a reliable motor I'll deff be back haha. Jokes aside I had a great experience and if there's ever a car in the future that catches my eye ill deff come back and buy one for myself. Thank you!

Worked this deal almost entirely online as we live a long ways away from here. Kevin with forthcoming with everything about the car we were interested in and went out of his way to get me additional pictures of both the good and the bad, so that we could make as informed a decision as possible, given we wouldn't be able to see it in person without a drive of many hours. Decided to make the journey and upon arrival, it was exactly as described. Kevin was friendly and helpful, and seemingly a good person who has actual business ethics, which is not always easy to find in the used car business. I would buy from him again.

I bought a Honda civic from Kevin recently and couldn t be happier. He is a friendly guy and very knowledgeable. He is a man of his word and would recommend people to buy from him. I got in a situation with an oil change place right after I bout the car and called I m he helped me tremendously. If your looking for a trustworthy car dealership look no further. You can feel safe driving a car from Kevin.

Got a car from this dealer last week . I also had looked at another car over the summer . My experience here was beyond unique , better than anything I've ever experienced in all myYears of buying cars . After several conversations about his vehicles , but more importantly his background And the philosophy of his company . It's not business as usual . Most of his cars are one owner ( usually better taken care of by the original owner ) . After my initially conversations with Kevin , I decided I would be buying a car from him , it was just a matter of when and wich one . Have you ever had a mechanic that you genuinely trusted with your vehicle ?? I have and it's an amazing thing ( I'm not mechanically inclined at all ) Yes he actually is a car salesman , but when talking with him it feel much more like a conversation with your trusted mechanic ( that's really what he is ) I like the car that I purchased for south Elgin , more importantly The overall great experience of buying from him is priceless . Even if I could have gotten my car cheaper somewhere else ??? Trusting the guy evaluating these cars is more important than save a few bucks . I very happy to know where I will be buying future vehicles !! Thanks again KevinUpdate : 1-22-23 bought another car from Kevin . dash light came on the very next day . He drove all the way up to Wisconsin to fix it , just so i would feel better about driving to work Monday . I forgot to mention he fixed it on a Sunday . His website states " customer satisfaction is job one " I can assure you that is a fact !!! Thanks again Kevin !!i'll be buying yet another one of these days ( lol)

I purchased a used 2013 Kia Sorento from them in March of this year. Paid over $10,000 for the vehicle. Huge red flag that I ignored was the after discovering the battery was dead and the car wouldn't start to take a test drive, I sat there for over 4 hours while they fiddled around with the battery. Instead of just replacing it, they tried repeatedly to recharge it. Eventually giving up and replacing the battery. After finally getting to test drive the vehicle, the battery light stayed on and the radio didn't work. After being there for 6 hours I left without the vehicle and had to come back the next day. But it gets better. After driving the vehicle for approximately 3,000 miles the engine quit. Doing the basic checks I checked the oil and it basically had none in it. So, they either sold me a car with little to no oil in it, or the vehicle was burning a quart of oil every 1,000 miles. I've owned plenty of older cars (not that a 2013 is even that old) and none of them burned a quart of oil every 1,000. In any event, after 3 months of owning the vehicle I now have to pay $7,500 to put a new engine in it. DO NOT BUY A USED CAR FROM HERE!!

I bought a Chevy Cruze here, and I am beyond happy with the purchase. I felt no pressure to buy the car or test drive the car. Kevin was very knowledgeable with the car, and showed me the car fax and other details about the car and transaction information. He was very friendly as well, and I hope to do business with him again later on in the future.

i have bought a 2013 Kia Soul before this summer. Kevin was very friendly, and the prices looked fair. i did the test drive, but I'm not a professional; so i asked him if everything is okay with the car and he said yes. So we agreed on everything. When we were driving back home, the air pressure light came on. We thought it was a small issue with the air but when we got it to a mechanic, we saw that 2 ball joints were cut open, one was in a bad condition so it was shaking the tire. Also, another tire was not spinning normally. Both costed us around 600$. Some other small problems occured, but one was important to me: while helping a friend with his car repair, we realized that there were no spare tire neither the equipments whichever should be below the trunk. And before buying a new one, we got a flat tire and that was a real issue. It could happen when we were driving back from Chicago to Madison, with no insurance yet on the car.I believe that he was trying to be fair. The price was 1000$ less than the normal, and the other dealers that we visited, they were asking for 2.000$ more for worse cars. And i understand, dealing with lot of different cars, you may not be able to spot all the problems on the car, but i would like it to be more clear to me, at least i would know.My advice to anyone would be try to learn more and more, don't hesitate to check everything, and trust the car itself.i am still driving this car, so thank you for that. But it had some issues and it would be better if i could know before. Bests!Update: i just learned that 2013 Kia soul base model does not come with a spare tire, so might be my bad...

Bought a car here few months ago.. he totally ripped me off! Heater doesn t work, windshield wiper fluid doesn t work, had to put in an extra few thousand dollars for this piece of car never ever going back! Jerk

I searched nationwide for almost a year to find a Jeep Cherokee XJ. Little did I know I would find it at a small local dealer who prides himself on honesty and fairness. Everything fell into place. Kevin the owner was very accommodating when it came to multiple test drives, mechanic inspections, and ultimately the deal. I am the proud owner of a 4x4 classic and very thankful for the service accompanied with my transaction. Proof you don t always have to go searching on the giant lots for what you need. I found the 09 Hyundai Santa Fe on Craigslist. The car has about 120k miles on it but the owner/mechanic Kevin has replaced the timing belt and water pump. Everything is in good condition and runs well. The price is fair comparing to other bigger dealers. I like the car a lot.
