Not sure why I waited this long but it's time I left a review, with gratitude, for a shop that has worked with me for over 35 years.I cannot begin to tell you how great it has been to work with Phillips Automotive. They are expert, highly capable, and absolutely trustworthy. It's really beside the point that they happen to be really good people but...they are! I cannot recommend them any more highly.Services: Transmission, Carburetor cleaning, General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair, Auto maintenance, Oil change

This was the first experience with this business. My BMW 2008 535i had an oil leak which required a new valve cover/gasket and oil change, along with some other maintenance items. The job was completed as promised. This is a typical repair for BMW's and they absolutely knew what was required for the repair. Very knowledgeable on the BMW brand vehicles. I have a few other items that this vehicle will need, and they will certainly be doing those repairs as well. I was very pleased with the overall experience, and would highly recommend them. I have had my Honda in several times and was fully satisfied with their service. They appeared to be quite knowledgeable as we discussed some problems. A smart and trusted friend had recommended them to me based on his perceived view of their expertise and honesty. In automotive repairs, honesty is more important than even expertise, although in my experience, most honest people in fact were very competent also.To the reviewer that couldn't get Phillips to answer the phone, that is probably more a function of cost control, as every time that I went in, a mechanic was manning the front desk and there was no paid receptionists present. Personally, this is fine.

This shop is Top Class!! Kind, friendly, local, and has built a network of others to help their customers. I needed a tow, they had a man, I needed a key made, they had a lady...Prices were great, service was timely, Phillips Automotive has become my #1 for car services/repair. First time visit to this company, was very satisfied, had some maintenance done on my Mercedes clk430. They are very knowledgeable and complete in their work. These are probably the best service guys around. They know what there doing and are very honest. Pretty rare these days! They won my businesses for sure.... Knowing that I can have my wife go to them for service needs and not get ripped off is important.Service: Engine repairService: Engine repair

Honest family owned shop that does good work. Only place I would trust go take my Subarus or any other import. Wish I'd know about these guys before I had spent $1500 elsewhere on a transmission on my old car when it just needed a $5 part!

I saw this poor review in here and sort of understand where it came from. They are busy and basically only have an answering machine and return calls at their convenience. That being said. After bringing my car in I will never go to another repair shop in Rockford. I have a 2003 Jaguar X-type that is on it's last legs. In the life of the car I have never payed less for an oil change and headlight replacement. If you looked inside the hood of the car you'd understand why the headlamps are difficult. Actually the first place I've taken it where they didn't complain about the car. Seemed simple for them. He gave me a rundown of all of the potential problems on my vehicle and even made some phone calls for me to find the best options for my car going forward. They were not pushy with any of the potential fixes and did a great job explaining my options. While they may not be in a hurry, they definately are also not pushy. Best customer service experience I have ever had with a mechanic and that includes Jaguar dealerships. I regret ever setting foot in Napletons.

We were traveling from PA to Minneapolis and on the Indiana side of Chicago squealing began from under the hood. Just outside Rockford we rested at a rest stop, woke up at midnight and crawled into Rockford, got a room and slept until the beginning of the workday and went searching for a VW specialist to help us with our ailing VW eurovan camper.The first one didn t want to touch us and recommended the Phillips brothers.At first they looked at Sally ( my cattledog) and I and I was not hopeful. But he saw I was from Minnesota and took a look and listen with his stethascope. He then saw Sally and we talked and we had a few things in common and took pity. We were saved.They are great people, funny, fair and excellent mechanics. Never think twice about your vehicle!

Phillips automotive are without doubt the smartest guys out there . If you have an import and been in shock by the cost to fix by main dealer , please go pay them a visit .

I have used Phillips Automotive for years on BMW's, Audi, Lexus, and Honda vehicles. I have always been satisfied with their service and have referred many people to them as well!

It's the only place we take our cars. Friendly quality service. But don't drop in, you have to make an appointment.
