He's done great work for my car and his prices are very reasonable for the quality of work. The shop has had a solid reputation as a neighborhood mechanic for as long as I can remember. Very easy to work with. I recommend going here to anyone asking.

Very satisfied. Awesome ... ... cars and truck repair ... A++++++++++++ +Brian is top gun rockford mechanic he is as good as you can get. Best all round car repair in Rockford. They keep all my cars running and in tip top condition. These guys walk the talk. Ellis and Ellis car repair where recommended to me from neighbors when I first moved into Rockford.Ken the owner has his two sons working with him. These folks are above and beyond honesty.

I have gotten an oil change here before and I can attest that the prices cannot be beat. However, in the few times I have tried to get work done after that oil change, I have not been impressed with the customer service. When I call, the person that has answered was not pleasant at all. I stated what was going on with my car and what needed to be looked at and the only response I got back was, "we're booked". There was no offer to schedule further out, no further questions to figure out what is going on with the car to determine how big of a job it would be, and absolutely no pleasantries. I almost thought I called the wrong place because it was the opposite of my first experience. The conversation basically dead-ended and I felt like a burden to even ask if he had availability. If this were a one-time situation, I could understand, but this is the second time I have called to get work done and gotten the same response. My husband has also tried bringing his car here multiple times and has gotten the same experience when he calls. I work in customer service as well and understand there are certain days where being 100% pleasant is very difficult. However, I would rather spend more money, know my car is fixed correctly, and have excellent customer service, than get cheap prices and mediocre service. Customer service is about building relationships and trust with your customers. If this is how you handle all of your customers, I'm surprised you're still in business.Services: Auto maintenance, Oil change

Despite some of the good reviews. I just called this place and the guy that answered the phone was every rude and dismissive from the start. Doesn t matter how many years they ve been in business I wouldn t want these people working on my vehicle at all after the very short 48 second interaction I had with the guy over the phone. That should say a lot about an employee if all it takes is a few seconds to deter a customer.

He's always busy. Love the work he does and affordable. Unfortunately I went and he went on vacation. I had no choice and got stuck paying F&F tire price. I'm truly broke and something else needs to be fixed. I am waiting for Ellis to come back. Never had been ripped off or had bad work. Sure it's not super clean but I'm getting my car fixed not getting surgery. If you worry about it not being clean than you should goto F&F tire but, it will cost you 10 times as much for the same great work. See you soon Tim Ellis

Called to see about scheduling an oil change and having my exhaust vvt replaced. The guy I talked to on the phone was rude and dismissive. I was told they don t do exhaust work. I told him the vvt is not exhaust work. It s a solenoid. When I stated this he said I know, I m just not interested. I hung up. Seeing other reviews, everything makes a lot more sense. I would suggest taking your business elsewhere .

Some pathetic work done by the mechanic here. Had a engine light on with a code for a specific cylinder misfire and engine shake. Took it here to have the oil changed and the misfire diagnosed and fixed. Three days later my oil is changed and I m told the issue is gone. Mechanic said the oil change fixed the issue. Yea right, the moment I left the lot the light came on and the issue was still there. He said he drove it for 30 min and had no issues, not sure how that s possible. I had already paid for the oil change and asked him what he is going to do. He told me to put some fuel injector cleaner in the tank and it will be fixed. Two weeks later I still have the issue and have gone through enough sea foam cleaner for a life time. Just dont go here unless your in need of an oil change.Service: Engine repair

Best people working here , they're always busy. My husband took his car in because he takes care of me and needs to work. The car made a really bad sound. Ellis took care of it for only 129.00 dollars. So you think that's a lot ? Nope he only charged us 40 dollars labor. One time he didn't charge me at all. They actually under charge people because they are helping the poor people. You know the people that drive cars old enough 2 vote. I was sorry to hear the father AKA the other Ellis (great man). He don't need to advertise because he's always busy. Thank you for helping your community. Heck some places charge 20 to 40 dollars shop fee.

Well uv always taken my car here. And idk who I just talked to because it wasn't the owner or his son. But have always bought my own parts and this guy just flat out refused to do the work on my car because I bought my own parts. So I would not recommend this place. The owner and his son need to get rid of this guy they have helping them cause he's costing them labor rates and money. Said he didnt work on Subarus and iv always took my Subaru there. Sir you are garbage and just because you wanna make up your parts that you get is bad business. You already make money for labor rate because you can do the work faster than what the rate is.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Nothing better than an honest mechanic. Dealership said my brakes were gone, asked this shop to examine my brakes since I had no symptoms of brake trouble with my car. Ellis & Ellis confirmed that my brakes were completely fine. The individual I spoke with was knowledgeable, and was able to answer my questions with ease. I would recommend this mechanic to anyone.

Did you hear that? Wait, maybe you didn't, because my brakes are no longer squeaking or pulsating! Wha-hoooo!We were referred to this place by a friend who told us of their phenomenal work and and even more phenomenal prices. We needed our front brakes done. We dropped off the car in the morning and they called us around two o'clock to tell us it was ready. I had forgotten to tell them I needed a tire plugged. When we got there they hadn't finished the plugging work because the guy I talked to on the phone was out to lunch. But the man we talked to said no problem he would do it for us. Fifteen minutes later I have a plugged tire and he DID NOT CHARGE me. Excellent, very excellent. All-in-all our tire expenditures were around $105. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Can't judge this book by its cover! Good work at fair prices by a friendly and competent crew. They even came to my house once to help me break a frozen wheel off my van so I could change a flat. They did not take any money for it and that was my first dealing with them! I have been back for other work several times and have been completely satisfied.

Needed new rear shocks. Tim kindly drove us home and then about 2 HOURS later called to say the van was ready! He picked us up and within 15 minutes we were home again. Awesome guys and fantastic service.

I was on my way to the gas station across the street to put air in a low tire. By the time I got there, the tire became completely flat and had shifted off the rim. I call Ellis & Ellis (who is located across the street) and ask if they could have someone come help me. They sent someone over who changed my flat. When I attempted to pay them they refused to accept any money. Family and friends have been going there for years and have never heard a bad thing. Thank you Ellis $ Ellis!!

My mom and dad went there for years while I was growing up and had nothing but great service. I wish I could say the same. Back in February I got a flat tire and had it towed there I had them look at it and they informed me it was just a flat and they would plug it. They did that. I picked it up the next day and by the next morning it was flat again. I then took it back. They looked at it again and then the guy informs me that the hole was on the side wall and he couldn't fix it. That was experience number one. Just this last week I got another flat. So again I took my car there. They looked at it and told me it was the rim and it had to be polished and evened out because the beading was bad. I picked it up and of course the next day the tire was flat again. I took it back. I called later that day and asked if it was ready and the guy said it was and I told them I was going to be there when they opened at 7am. I got there at 10 min. til and guess what the tire was flat out in there parking lot. I asked him what was up and guess what he said. The hole was in the side wall. I didn't make it to school that morning because of their incompetence. I will never go there again and both times I spent $15, but $30 is $30. Very unhappy. What pissed me off the most was I didn't even get an apology. I like to go to local businesses to help local business out, but with that type of service how do you not go to Walmart. At least they apologize. I ended up going to Marvin's Tire shop and guess what? My tire got fixed and hasn't gone flat. If these guys cant even change a tire I'm guessing they can do much more. I gave them one star just because of the service they did for my parents. DONT GO THERE!!!

So very reasonably priced. They do what u ask. They don't oversell other services. They are quick! I've serviced my vehicle twice a d each time I was comfortable with the results and trusted them

Ellis&Ellis gets the job done, fast cheap and with courtesy. They've been honest in every repair. We've had our vehicles in to them many times and each time were surprised at the quick response, fast repair time and ease on our budget.The best we've worked with in Rockford!

The person who answered was so unfriendly. He acted like he didn't want my business. He said he couldn't find anything wrong and to come get it. Second time this has happened with different car.

My experience with Ellis & Ellis was unparalleled in terms of the honesty and fairness I received - not just in my experiences with car repair, but in all the customer service interactions I can remember. There was a mixup with my car. At first, the lack of organization was upsetting. However, the issue was resolved above and beyond what I expected. Ellis & Ellis not only waived the cost of the labor and parts, but also reimbursed me for the car rental I had to get. To me, this is extraordinary. This reimbursement will go right back into their register as they've got yet another happy customer for life.

Tim Ellis, needs to learn more people skills, not very friendly. Got a oil change, and it looks he just added a quart of oil, and added a new filter, oil was overfilled and dirty. Was told he can get me a part for 200$ and i found one for 36$. Stay away from Tim Ellis, he just lost a customer of 20 yrs.

Has been a top auto repair shop for as long as I can remember. Not much glamour, but you can count on quality repairs at a very fair price. I recommend Ellis & Ellis to anyone who need a shop.

They tried charging me 400 for front rear brakes on a Nissan Sentra that s usually no more than $80 lol maybe some other goofy

Old fashioned service and super friendly guys. They take your keys, name and number, put it on a small clip board and call you when its done. Lowest price in town Ive found and they do good work. No hidden fees or BS. Took two days to get my car back. Also allowed me to bring my own parts so I could save even more by beating up Advance Auto with coupon codes and cashback. Awesome! Even left my old calipers so I could get the core.

I needed a new alternator on my Sonata. Firestone wanted $500. Ellis and Ellis did it quickly for $230. I wont go anywhere else in Rockford. Skilled, honest mechanics.
