Came in for a rear brake job. The first thing to note about this place is their parts cost. I was told the cost per rear brake drum was going to be $200 (maybe they were made of gold?). For reference, the dealer sells the OEM part for $90 and you can find quality OEM replacement parts for $50. Rest of the parts required for this job were also egregiously priced. I have never ever heard of anyone selling parts in excess of dealer prices, much less at a rate of 2x. They also needed two days to do the job that requires 1.4 hours of labor since they didn t have one of the parts that needed replacing on hand the first day. Granted, I told them everything I wanted replaced in the brakes three days beforehand when I scheduled my appointment, including the component they failed to order ahead of time.I wish I could say that the quality of work performed improved my overall experience but it didn t. Parking brake was not adjusted properly so I get 0 E brake. Mechanics clearly did not check their work to verify it was set properly. Good thing I don t live on a hill! Brake pedal also is quite spongy and master cylinder was not topped off even though I paid for a full exchange/flush/bleed. To give them the benefit of the doubt, the spongy brake pedal could also have been caused by the parking brake issue, so I can t say for certain whether the brakes were bled off of air or not. However, anyone with an ounce of mechanical aptitude should have been able to identify either issue 5 seconds after sitting behind the wheel and not deemed the work done. Needless to say, I will not be back. Take your business elsewhere.Edit: When I popped my hubcap off to dive into the parking brake issue I was missing a lug nut on the rear driver side (see picture)

If I could give zero I would. Went here yesterday and was told that my rack and pinion were bad and i had an oil leak. Then it was my transmission. Was told it couldn't be why the check engine light was on. Lone and behold it was exactly why my check engine light was on. With Ken gone this place is falling apart. Staff is very young and unfortunately an inexperienced group. Need some more experienced staff that is familiar with Evap systems and how they work! Ps...oil wouldn't be leaking with the rack and pinon. That would be power steering fluid. Guess being a mechanics daughter saved me in this situation. Oh and the whole no spots in my driveway!

I had suspected a coolant leak in my car and called to see if I could set up an appointment for an inspection. I was able to bring my car in just a few hours. Unfortunately, the coolant leak couldn t be fixed due to my car being a vw but they refilled the coolant for me free of charge. I spoke with Ken throughout the process who was very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He explained everything very thoroughly and even referenced some other places I could take my car to. I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for someone they can trust has their best interest.

I'm always treated courteously by the staff there and the prices are fair for a non-dealership service business. It's not the cleanest, however. My wife would rather go to the local Honda dealer for oil changes since the atmosphere is like a spa compared to Car-X but I keep going back because I would rather save the money.

This shop had unforseen circumstances, most businesses have had, which have now been rectified. This is a very good place to service your car, helpful staff. Would definitely recommend!!!

Scheduled an appointment online 2 days before service was to be performed. Received a voice-mail from the manager less than 24 hours prior to visit stating they couldn't fulfill the appointment and to return the call. Called back 4 times on the day I received the voice-mail with no answer and no return call to the voice-mail I left. Called twice the morning of my appointment with the same result.I will not entertain using the services at this facility when the phone cannot even be answered nor the courtesy of a return phone call be considered.Goodyear got my business and was kind, fair, prompt with answering the phone, and squeezed me in on a busy day. Shame on you Car-X

I bought some headlights from Advance Auto Parts and the cashier recommended I go next door to Car X to have them installed. Ken, the manager installed them for me for free. But he also noticed that the wiring hub inside one of my headlights was bad so I returned the next day to have it replaced along with a new set of headlights. I definitely appreciate the service that Ken has provided me. He gave me a great deal and his service was excellent. He s very friendly, personable, and professional.

I dropped my car off here and for over a month I never received a call email nor txt about any updates. I called over and over sometimes got no response or answer. I finally got a response that the mechanic who looked at my car quit and didn t leave any notes about it so they were left with only 2 mechanics working. Which I understand things happen but not once was I contacted about any of this. Now today I went in physically to ask in person and the man behind the counter Ken Johnson was very non-chalant and then proceeds to tell me oh yea, there s a lot of stuff I can t fix on it. Like were you ever going to let me know any of that. Moral of the story, this place is not organized, not equipped with the right amount of staff and professionalism sucks

Today was my first time using Car X - it was a great experience!! Ken, I am assuming he was the manager, took care of me with much ease and was very friendly and professional. One of the technicians came in, and we discussed the work that was going to be done - again, very professional. I will definitely be going back to Car X!!! Julie

I called in the morning asking if I could bring my car in to have my car battery replaced, Ken the manager said that'd be no problem just bring it in. Well that's exactly what happend, I brought my car in and I was in and out and back on the road within about 30 minutes. Thanks Ken and other staff that were working the Sat. morning of Jan. 20th, 2024.

I was a new customer at this location and brought my car in to get it checked out for a weird noise the motor was making (never a good sign). I was seen quickly once I arrived and they took a look at my car right away. The gentleman who helped me out, Ken, was so friendly and gave me a great rundown of what was going on with my vehicle as well as what I should keep an eye out for and next steps. He even provided me a complimentary oil change to address the motor issue! I cannot thank him enough for being so kind. :) Despite the fact that I've only visited them once, I absolutely recommend this place. I really appreciated the service I received here and will definitely be back next time I need a tune-up. Thank you again to Ken & everyone else who helped me out!! ZERO STARS!!!My Appointment schedule at 10:00am 1/5/24, drop car off at 9:00am, called at 11:00 to check status, guy who answered stated oh he's pulling my vehicle in now. Get dropped off at 1:00pm. Truck hasn't even been pulled in shop yet. Guy states he's pulling vehicle in now, so I'm in the waiting waiting room less then 5 minutes. Guy tells me about a code that popped up but did NOT do the full diagnosis, which is why the appointment was set up. Customer Service a 0, Appointment timing a 0, felt like i was being pushed aside for the next person. I Will never go back to Car X in Peoria, Il on university

I would like to give a shout out to Ken for getting me in for an oil change appointment ASAP! It s hard to get into many place that quick and I would have been waiting for weeks. Also the wait time was super fast. My questions were answered very professionally! And the bill was a lot cheaper than other place I have been. Thank you Ken for all your help today! Professional team. Shop floor is of decent size.This facility has a waiting room with WiFi so makes the wait less boring. Calling ahead and scheduling appointment makes things move faster.

Great service! I took my car in for an exhaust problem. As soon as I got there, they immediately took my car in. The job was done in less than an hour and a half. I'll definitely be coming back here for future maintenance on my vehicle.

Never in my life have I ever experienced such unprofessionalism, rudeness, refusal, and straight-up lying from a business, and this was all from their current manager, Chris. So I brought my car in 2 weeks ago, and it sat all those 2 weeks because the manager they have currently is incompetent and not a lick of experience with vehicles, apparently. I went out there twice for my car, not turning on each time even though I was told it was fixed. Then, when I would reach out to want to know an update, they didn't answer phones, would answer, then hang up. They didn't do their work correctly, so I had to tow my car again to a completely different shop due to the lack of everything at this store. Please, please, please, I beg you do not bring your car here or it will be sitting for weeks on end and you will be ignored or lied to that the work was done. Just so you know, you only get refunded for the PARTS. Spent 2 weeks without a car all because of this store. Do not recommend this place to anyone. Save your time, money, and your health of not being stressed out.

I've been bringing my car there for 11 years mostly for oil changes. I brought my car there on 9/13/23 because my brakes were sounding bad. This is the wrong place for that. I was there for 3 hours, they told me it was my front brakes. I made the mistake of not asking about the back brakes, too trusting I guess. When I left and $548.00 later I was hearing the same noise. I brought it in again and they said it was the back brakes. When I asked why they didn't check those the first time the young man try to tell me I said it was the front brakes. Do people normally have car lifts and the ability to decipher that if they are not a mechanic? They lost a long time customer that day. They lie and they play shenanigans. 0 stars, dishonest and incompetent. This review wouldn't let me post unless I selected at least one star.Service: Brakes
