As the owner of a Company in the area named Zeromold. As a owner I can sometimes be a little critical on how others customers service. I am pleased to say that Discount Muffle in Palatine was wonderful to deal with. From start to end they did a great job and will want to refer them to others. Great job Discount Muffler have a great year.

I was in Palatine visiting my Grandmother when my alternator went out. Auto Zone recommended their shop. I was thankful they had my car fixed the next day but on my way home, I realized the A/C wasn t getting cold. After bringing my car to a local shop in my home town, it was discovered that Discount Muffler completely ruined my air compressor by pulling out all the wires (they had to remove the compressor to get to the alternator). I paid them $650 for a new alternator and now I have to pay $1000 for a new compressor. So upsetting!!! I wish I could file a lawsuit against them. Do not go to this shop, the mechanics are worthless.

Yesterday was my first experience with Discount Muffler Brake & Automotive and it likely won t be my last. Discount estimated the work I needed on my exhaust system significantly under the price I had received elsewhere, so in that regard they were true to their name. However, even better, they also did the job with expertise and excellent customer service. These facts make them a solid choice for automotive work, but also makes them a busy establishment. So, keep that in mind when trying to get into their schedule. Even so, they got me in and stayed open past their hours to get my work, and others, completed. Definitely recommend Discount Muffler Brake & Automotive.Service: Exhaust

I was referred here by a friend. They took extreme care of my 1996 LX450 and now my 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. The place is priced better than anyone else I've taken my car to and they do a great job. Joe is a great mechanic and Ashley is always kind and patient when I am describing my issues. I am a person who likes to do my own car work when I can. When I have a job too tough I go to Joe at Discount. My family and I have been going to Discount for over 25 years. They always take care of me. Last year they got my A/C up and running for under $100. This week they did a great job of replacing my driver and passenger exhaust manifolds and saved my back from days of aches.Services: Exhaust, Air conditioning

I know nothing about cars. Went to the dealer and they wanted a lot of money to change the brake fluid because it was a 45k mile maintenance item. Found and called Discount. They quoted me half what the dealer did.When i got there. Ashley was taking my info and asked why i was getting this done. I explained what the dealership recommended. She gave me my keys back and told me it was not unessesary. She said to come back when i get my brakes replaced. First time a mechanic told me not to get work done.....Customer for life. Use them.

I had put off getting the muffler fixed on my car for several months, but now with my plates expiring and needing the emission test first to get my sticker I had to just do it. My sons were sad about my car no longer sounding like a loud race car.Exploring the problem months ago, I was told I needed a new muffler by two other chain muffler businesses. That was a lot of money and the reason for my procrastination. My last ditch effort to find a good, reputable place I looked online and it must have been fate that I saw Discount Muffler, Brakes, Automotive. The rating were incredible on Google and Yelp. Could it be true? I couldn t do any worse so I called for an appointment.Right away, Ashley, was friendly and helpful. That was a positive first impression! I made my appointment and dropped off my car. Ashley was not around so one of the mechanics took my keys from my husband said everything would be taken care of. Several hours later, I called to check on the status and Ashley was so happy to speak to me. We didn t leave my phone number for her to reach out! Oops I didn t need a new muffler. All I needed were new bolts. The bolt kit and an hour of labor was under $150! I nearly danced with joy in the middle of the grocery store! YES!!!Ashley called to let me know my car was done. We picked it up and everything went so smoothly. She gave me the details of what was done and that I had a one year warranty! WOW!In addition, they also fixed a rattle that came from under my hood every time I started my car. It was a bolt or bar holding down the engine that broke a couple years ago. I made another appointment right away from them to try to fix my taillight. It s a wiring issue so I wouldn t even begin to know where to start. After today s experience - I TOTALLY TRUST DISCOUNT MUFFLER BRAKE AUTOMOTIVE!My car is almost new again! Thank you, Ashley and team! It s so hard to find a trustworthy, honest, and reasonably priced mechanic and automotive shop. Thank you!!!Services: Exhaust, Electrical

The mechanics and staff (Ashley) are great business people to deal with. An honest to goodness repair estimates will be given to you personally on the spot. Owner and the mechanic will walk u over to your car and point to u what is the problem on your car. Moreover, price wise with regards to repair charges and labor cost, Discount muffler is way cheaper and u can saved money by going in this auto shop. I highly recommend it to all of you looking for an auto shop were at the same time u can saved. Good job work on my auto.

Hands down, this is the best mechanic I have ever been to. My whole family has been going her for years. Joe is an extremely honest and knowledgeable professional. He has gone out of his way to pick up my elderly parents when they were stranded and has made trips to help them out. One could only wish to have an amazing mechanic and business like this. His daughter and all other associates are extremely professional and helpful! Honestly THE BEST car shop I ve ever been to. There s a lot of options in Palatine, especially on Colfax, but you do not want to pass up on this shop. They re super friendly and patient, extremely fair pricing, and they re exceptionally knowledgeable. It s like going to get your car fixed by family; you can trust you re getting a good job done with a fair price! I spoke with Ashley a couple of times before bringing my car in and she was super helpful. We determined that someone had cut the pipe and stolen the catalytic converter. Discount Muffler was able to custom shape a pipe to replace mine at a substantial discount. I would definitely come here again!!

I had a flexible exhaust piece that had failed on my car. Discount Muffler and Brake in Palatine gave me a very low price quote in just 15 minutes. They then completed the job in about 90 minutes. Their work, which included a little bit of fabrication/welding, looked quite professional. I'm very impressed. As a side note their waiting area and bathroom is also very pleasant/clean.

My family have been going here for many years. We are always happy with the service. They have always been honest and fair. If you have to have service on your vehicle, you should check out Discount Muffler Brake & More. Joe is the guy to see. He's awesome!

These guys just saved me $1500 on an exhaust manifold repair. I was quoted by another shop they would have to pull the engine to replace broken manifold bolts. Discount muffler fixed them by other means. THESE GUYS ARE AWESOME! Great to have an honest shop to rely on. Will return for all my service.Service: ExhaustService: Exhaust

If everyone treated people the way they do the world would be a better place.They were busy, people are waiting their turn, and they didn t take a lunch just to keep the production going. Smiling and welcoming.I was already a fan of this place, but now i feel the need to write this review.Took care of my muffler rattle in 30 mins at a great price. Thank you!

Discount muffler brake and auto in palatine ARE AWESOME!!!! I had a loud noise like the muffler or exhaust was not wrkng right from starting my car and worse when pressing on the gas and driving it. I didn't know about it until it hppened last minute. A good friend referred me to discnt muffler and I called spoke to Ashley and really needed my car looked at and of course on good Friday so Ashley was able to get my car in right away and work on it right away. So grateful to Ashley and Edmar and that this place is right around the corner. Also showed me under the car so I cld see what was going on and then showed me what he did to fix it.Thanks so much again, you have no idea how grateful I amAnd their prices seem very reasonable.Don't get too busy so you wil stil hv time for me and my little old car.Have a great holiday You all r awesome!!!LisaService: Exhaust

A Complete DisasterBrought the car in for brake inspection.After 4 days, the car being returned multiple times, and $1000 of my money - it's worse then before I brought it there.Brakes are dangerous now. Pedal is very soft and low. Unsafe. They don't know how to fix it and never offered to bring it somewhere else to make it right. They just kept working on it and telling me "it's ok now" when it never was. Lots of air in brake system they can't get out.Friendly and apologetic front office person - but unacceptable results.Obviously I won't be going back and would never recommend this place.The icing on the cake was the layers of dirt, grease and grime they left on my steering wheel (see attached photo) that my son and i had to clean up, and the guy on the front stoop smoking pot.............Well done guys.............. I heard a noisy from my car in the morning then walked in Discount Muffler for checking. Joe had the cause of the noisy from tires diagnosed and repaired within a hour. Joe also brought me into the shop twice to show me exactly what the issue was and they fixed so quickly. I should have come here earlier instead of going another shop at far location. Joe's team definitely provide best service and price.

I stopped in Discount Muffler etc today for a same day appointment with a noisy exhaust leak on my car. They had the cause of the leak diagnosed and repaired in about a hour. They brought me into the shop to show me exactly what the issue was and the options for repair, and then after the work was completed to see the final repairs. Definitely will be going back here for work in the future. It's hard to find a shop that you can trust but so far so good.

Took my car in because my brakes were squeaking and the other Auto Center I took it to told me nothing was wrong Discount Muffler and Brake was able to detect the problem which were my drums and I had another issue which they fixed for free a couple weeks later I couldn't be happier with the service I would definitely recommend. The stafff was super nice and knowledgeable and even offered to give me a ride to someplace else while my car was being fixed. I'm happy to say I found my new auto place.

Fixed the flex pipe on my girlfriend's FIAT 500 for WAY cheaper than I expected. Checked out their work afterwards and it looks solid! Plus the receptionist up front was super nice and understanding. Didn't patronize my girlfriend like some car shops do to women. I'll definitely be back here for all the work I can't do myself!
