AJ&H is one of the best , most straightforward transmission building/repair shops that I have ever done business with!I am in the automotive repair business as I have been for about 28 years, and for the last 10 years I have subletting my transmission rebuild work to his facility. Always fair pricing, great customer service, and most importantly excellent quality workmanship! I currently had my personal vehicle in there which has a transmission that has limited availability on parts, it is the unicorn of transmissions for my vehicle , and they were willing to take on the challenge of rebuilding it. They did an excellent job and in a timely manner and we re straightforward step-by-step through the process! I would highly recommend this company For all of your transmission needs!

Stay clear! He will steal the emergency $20 you hide in the secret glove area. Unbelievable, Brian the extortionist misled me and tore my transmission apart without even a simple quote or permission, then wanted to charge me $1500 to put it back without permission to do anything but the free diagnosis, like he advertises on his misleading website. But he worked me and deceived me into taking my trans out to see if there is a "simple fix" according to him. Then he calls and says I have to drop the transfer case to check it. Then he calls and tells me it's $4000. Then I say no way, I asked you to do a free diagnose. Then he said time clock is ticking. Then I had to call the cops and they told him to give me my car. So, I sent a tow truck and it arrived at my driveway with all the transfer case parts in the back seat and trunk and the whole exhaust separate. Of course the transmission was missing as well, and He rigged it so now it does not start and it s all apart and I can t sell it. Don t USE THIS NONSENSE SHOP OR YOU WILL REGRET IT! Brutal incompetence!

Brian was the most honest person I have met. I was referred by an experienced mechanic to get my transmission checked based on the symptoms. Brian checked my car, kept it for 1 day, and called me he wasn't able to find any issue with my car. He asked me to go back to the mechanic and get my car's front end checked. If someone asks me if I know someone who can fix transmission I will not think twice if I have to refer them.

I recently had a fantastic experience with A-J&H Transmission. When I brought my car in for what I suspected was a transmission issue, their team, led by Brian and Kevin, displayed exceptional knowledge, helpfulness, and trustworthiness.Upon inspecting my vehicle, they quickly identified that the problem wasn't related to the transmission at all. Instead of simply brushing off the issue, Brian and Kevin took the time to thoroughly diagnose the problem and inform me of the actual issue. Not only did they provide me with this valuable information, but they also went above and beyond by assisting me in dealing with the dealer to ensure that the car was repaired at the manufacturer's cost.What truly impressed me was that despite their efforts and assistance, they didn't charge me a penny for their help. I had a wonderful experience at AJ&H Transmission. My initial contact was with Kelvin. He was very caring and genuinely concerned about my car care needs. When I arrived at the shop, he immediately scanned my 2007 Toyota Camry (v 6 engine with 108,400 miles) and he did a test drive at no cost.I brought my vehicle to the shop because prior to my visit, I had a check engine light and an error code that showed an issue with my solenoid D. When I arrived to the shop, there were no warning lights on my dashboard other than a need for basic maintenance which was required soon.Kelvin took care of my needs and I felt great relief. He was so kind, caring, trustworthy, knowledgeable and professional. Although I was close to an hour away from home, I would definitely return for services when needed.I also met with the owner and with Clarissa who also works in the office. Everyone was professional, caring, honest and concerned about my genuine welfare and car care needs. Everyone was just a fantastic human being. I highly recommend A J & H Transmission to everyone and I wish them the best in all their future business endeavors. Now they are a part of my team.Ms. Smith

Dropped my van to get my transmission repaired at this place last Friday, took them just a week to get it back.. customer service is beyond 100%, i didn't have a ride to get home, so i was going to take an uber and they told that they can take me home "sweet!!!" . So I don't know who in their minds would leave negative comments about this place. I highly recommend this place, very professional, they work with you which is to me a two thumbs up. If I ever need their service again I will go back in a heart beat.. thanks team A J&H....

I had my car towed here and I'm glad I did. They say on their website that they were all about getting the right solution for your problem and that was exactly what I experienced.

DONT TRUST THIS BUSINESS ! Horrible service. The grown men were threatening me and my mom and cussing at us we are FEMALES. When they were charging me $200 for a tow when it was 10 minutes they broke my key did not want to pay for it and I decided to not do any business with them. They were so angry and didn t want to give me MY OWN CAR. They are pricey you can find trustworthy people don t trust these people ! My car also drove before getting to this shop and it stopped driving when we got there ! They take your parts and are very disrespectful go somewhere else trust ME !Service: Transmission

A J&H Transmission is a sensational company for your transmission needs. Brian, Carissa, and their team are the tops when it comes to service, knowledge, value, and communication. During my transmission rebuild, they offered great insight towards my wish list of upgrades along with options to save money while working within my budget. 100% recommend this place! We brought my car here and Alex was the one who helped us. He was very friendly, honest and extremely knowledgeable. I wish this was a full service shop because I would love to bring my car here for all work! Highly recommend. I just revisited AJ&H 6 months after my first review, with a different car this time. I met Brian, the owner, and he went above and beyond to help me with my vehicle. This is a shop that has been here for decades, these people really know their stuff and I ve found them to be more upfront, honest and reasonably priced than anywhere else in the NW suburbs.Services: Transmission, Auto engine diagnostic

10/10 with great honest customer service. My ford explorer transmission was going out but the owner Brain told me the pros and cons and didn't want to cheat me of my money and gave me really honest feedback and advice on trading in my explorer since it has high mileage. Even did a free oil transmission for me to make my explorer run till i get to trade in my car.Great honest people!

Highly recommend this business for transmission work. Last week my car's transmission decided to die and my husband found this shop via Google search. So glad we did, my car was repaired in a timely manner (less than a week) and my transmission is working better than it ever did. Bryan is a rare kind of business man who doesnt chase your wallet. *This is going to be a bit long, but im going to tell you my true experience...Bryan could have charged me for a problem i didnt have but 2 other shops claimed..(transmission bearing? Thus leading me to a transmission shop). But he made sure to run his own test and found out it was something completely different! Wheel bearing. I said the other shops ran their tests and used a stethescope thingy on the lift. But it wasnt load bearing so the sound resonated to the transmission, explained Bryan. He also used his special electronic sound tool to test while test driving it and thus came to this conclusion. He truely is a good man. And since their expertise is transmissions he explained it would be best done at my general mechanic. I was soo surprised on how such a good and honest person in the automotive industry still exists. Despite not having anything done, he will be my go to from now on anything transmission related. "Respect is earned, not bought." Thank you sir!

Don t trust these folks ! Go somewhere else ! Had to pay $200 for a 10 minute tow and would not provide me with the tow company receipt instead they provided me with the shop receipt. They lie to much saying that they re closed when they re not . Or when you try speaking to the manager he s never there when he really is !Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

Brian and his team were professional and timely and have continued running an outstanding shop. The extra for me was the actual concern for the car. They left the car inside over the holiday weekend to ensure my radiator issues were not affected by the 20-degree weather. Thank you.

Great service! Couldn't believe how nice they were. We are from out of state and they has us back on the road in no time. Explained every step and kept the costs as low as they could. Highly recommend! Ten stars!

BEWARE. Vehicle was not going into overdrive, there was a check engine light on and I provided the codes when dropping vehicle off. Rather than perform a proper diagnostic on the vehicle, went right into rebuilding the transmission. Upon picking up vehicle 3+ weeks later, discovered that the same issue persisted. Shop denied any responsibility after charging $3,700 for their repair. After my own investigation, discovered that the issue was due to the faulty sensor causing the vehicle to go into what's known as 'limp mode'. Tried explaining to shop owner Brian who was condescending and stood by his shoddy diagnosis of the issue. You should be able to rely on a mechanic's expertise and not have to resort to Google to find out what's going on with your vehicle, but that is what I was forced to do. Be wary of this mechanic and their lack of knowledge/expertise.Service: Transmission

As always A-JH comes thru for me and my company (Active Lock) ! Rebuilt the Trans on one of our service trucks, always on-time and in budget. We have been their loyal customer for almost 30 years and would not consider going anywhere else. Brian and little Brian were really great with me. I was told at some mechanic that my transmission was going so I brought it to A-JH and they checked it out for me and told me it does not look like my transmission was going at all considering that my car has 51,000 and a few hundred miles on itIf my car does start to act up to bring it right in to check itAlso the other people that work there were very helpful also.So if you ever need a good trustworthy trans place, A-JH is the one!!I can't thank you guys enough!Now don't get too busy on me aftr people start to read my review, save some time for meLisa

I just recently went to AJH for a transmission issue. The gentleman that helped me was very knowledgeable and very accommodating to my schedule. I had my car back in a couple of days, and its running awesome! Thank you so much for everyone that works there.

Alex Brian and the team went above and beyond the call of duty my car stopped moving last week they got it picked up looked and diagnosed within a day then they got me right in the building for the open heart surgery as Brian likes to call it with updates from Alex about what's going on during the whole process then at the end got the final call to come pick up my car couldn't have been any better service thank you so much guys

My VW is getting up there in years/miles and started getting stuck in a gear. I brought it to my trusted mechanic at Krantz in Barrington. They diagnosed the problem as a transmission issue and recommend I go see A J & H Transmission. They did an excellent job getting me back on the road. No hassle, reliable, quality workmanship.

i had work done on at this place... and they changed some sensors in my ford.. and the work they did when they worked on it .. made something in the engine break... so i have to get a new car or a new engine...so not taking anything here in the future... it was a bad investment on my part
