I had my car towed to Mike's shop after my engine started knocking, as it turns out my car needed a whole new engine. Mike spent 8-10 hours of diagnosing the knocking and was trying to see if the knock could be fixed without replacing the engine, Mike didn't even charge me for these hours! I then ordered a used engine and had it delivered to Mike's shop about a month later. Mike promptly installed the engine for a reasonable price, he even drove 25 minutes to pick me up when I didn't have a ride to his shop!Mike is an honest and professional mechanic and he was excellent at keeping me up to date on his progress all the while he was recovering from surgery. I've dealt with a lot of mechanics in my life but quite frankly Mike impressed the hell out of me, Mike will get all of my future business as well as my girlfriend's business when our cars are in need of repairs.So folks if you are looking for an honest, professional and knowledgeable mechanic then MP Automotive & Repair in Oglesby, IL is the place to go to. My father has a 1995 Silverado and after a new motor replacement (not done by Mike) he was experiencing gas mileage problems. He took his truck to Mike and Mike asked my father detailed questions about its mileage history, performance, and what my dad s expectations were.After that Mike took out the time to describe to my father some options for both diagnostics and potentially repair. He also described how the computer in the truck determines how much gas to use and the sensors involved in measuring that. He walked my father through every step of his diagnostics and adjustments and set realistic expectations on what he should see.My father s mileage increased to nearly exactly what Mike predicted/expected.Mike is a true professional. He was awesome with his diagnostics as well as keeping my father informed on what he was doing and his expectations. He is reasonably priced and customer focused and working with him is just a great experience in general. Kudos Mike! Thanks for working with my Pops!

Hard to find a trustworthy mechanic, Mike is that guy. His work is excellent, his rates are fair, and best of all he doesn't try to stick you with bogus charges. I highly recommend Mike at MP Automotive Repair!

Very good guy. Took truck there to get something looked at expecting worse, but they said they were able to get the bolts free without doing the cut out I thought that was needed. Could have easily lied and done that work, but said it was easy, told the truth and noticed some other items that needed to be looked at and let me know. Appreciate that and hope they stay around.

We were originally sold a Lemon. Mike took the time to not only teach us about everything necessary for our car to run properly but worked closely with our warranty company to make sure we were never overcharged. In the end we saved thousands of dollars. Our car is running like brand new. Mikes 20+ years of experience and professionalism definitely made a bad experience better. Krista was also very sweet . Her kindness and refreshing personality made the payment process seamless. I'm not taking my vehicles anywhere else from now on. When driving through Illinois our car broke down at a Peru gas station. Our tow service recommended Mike, and I m so glad he did. Not only did he get to us on a Friday evening for diagnostic, he also met us on a Sunday to get our car back. Mike was professional, detailed in his explanations and very pleasant to work with. Excellent service Worked on my Buick..Oil change, picked up a nail in driver s side front, rotated tires and checked brake pads. Also had a squeak and thought I needed brakes; but the reason was a bent backing plate.Won t be going back to dealer anymore. Mike worked on it same day I brought it in. When I was gonna go to dealer;they said it s a 3 week wait for the oil change itself. outrageous.Check out his shop in Oglesby. You just never know, but I thought I would give them a try. We were visiting my mother-in-law across the street, and on my way from my 875-mile trip from VA, I realized I needed an oil change and tire rotation. I called up, and I was worked in. He was so through and said if I had any trouble before I left town, come by. On my flip side of the 875-mile trip home, I felt confident my car was in good shape.Now I know, and I would go back in a heartbeat.Plus, his fiancee has a salon connected to the other side of the shop in the same building, I think they will do very well.

My car would not start this morning. I tried jumping the battery with no luck so I called MP Repair and Automotive. Mike tracked down the issue very fast! It was grease used in a recall performed several years ago that was causing the problem. Going to mp automotive wether it be planned (oil change/filters)or unexpected (alternator) exceeded my expectations.
