What a great accidental find! After my car would not start AAA sent me Chris and Keith to tow my car to Northlake Auto. What a great family owned and operated business. I worked with Juan and he was bright and cheery and most of all responsive and helpful. They have texting which makes communicating easy and quick. Their workmanship is quaint, prices are fair and the silver lining of car trouble is their reception area. Help yourself to fountain soda, coffee, popcorn and a game! Thanks for getting me back on the road. Be sure to ask for a loyalty card for extra discounts.

Car had issue on my way home. I was pretty far out but lucky enough to be near this place. Staff was very friendly and help me out in a bind as most places we're too booked to help. Appreciated the kind staff here. I would absolutely go back if I lived near the area for my car repair needs.

Northlake Auto Repair was very prompt, professional and courteous! Juan kept me informed throughout the entire process. Keeping me updated on all repairs. Everything was done in a timely manner and my car was returned running better than when I left it there. They were definitely a lifesaver! I have found my new mechanic. Thanks again guys!

This business needs to be honest with their car inspections. Its disappointing to get a second opinion just to find out how you lied about repairs I needed to get done on my car to get more money.Shame on you Northlake Auto Repair. Honesty is the best policy!!!

Good price matching experience. The staff was outgoing. The starter seized and I unexpectedly had to leave the car after hours overnight. The work was completed by close of business on the next day. No problems as of yet. Their inspection pointed out a problem with steering that I hadn't previously noticed, and became significantly more noticeable when I left the shop.

Tried calling to ask how much an oil change would cost. The man answers with their standard prices, $25 for a regular, semi is $35 and full synthetic is $45. I ask him if that's for the full 6 quarts my car takes and he says quarts cost extra. I ask him how much it would cost for the oil change with the 6 quarts and the guy on the phone sounds confused as if it's a difficult question to answer and as if I was speaking Klingon. He says I'm too busy to answer your question. I tell him you won't be getting my business and he says okay, cool. I've brought my many cars here multiple times, never had such a rude experience. Safe to say I won't want to be returning if this is how they treat their potential customers.Service: Oil change

So i took in my truck for a differential repair and oil change, and when i went to pick up my truck when I took it for a test drive I noticed emergency brake light on, traction control light is on, turn signals won t turn on on dashboard and no light on dashboard as well, I m not sure what they did to my truck to have all this issues, when I told Mario ( Manager ) who was really polite all the time, really good customer service, but when I told him about those lights on dash he said the truck was like that, but I know my truck wasn t like that with all those lights on, he said if I want then fix I will have to pay to get them fix. I m never ever going back there not even for my oil change. I spent over $1200 on the differential repair

Everyone was very friendly. When I arrived I was greeted quickly and my car was taken right in for an oil change. The only thing I would say is that the technician told me he put the sticker on my window for an oil change in 5000 miles but had it on there for 3000 miles. I changed the miles myself to reflect the correct mileage.

I have been a customer for several years and we take part in the VIP program. I receive text messages regarding special offers. I called yesterday (Saturday) regarding a $5 off special for an oil change if I was one of the 1st 10 people to call. The gentleman who answered stated that they had no availability that day until I read the text to him. I was given a 10am appointment. I arrived at 9:45 and when I asked how long the oil change would take, the gentleman very curtly told me that I was early, and that there were two people before me. I told him I understand, but how long does it take...he then said 30 minutes once my car is taken. I also showed him the special I received a d let him know that I also had a credit, showed him that text as well, to which he rudely replied that he would have to look it up. When I was checking out I found that they had used regular grade oil, instead of synthetic. I commented that I was never given a choice and that synthetic had previously been used. His response was that I did not get the last change done there. Every where else I had received an oil change has asked before dispensing the on oil basedt vehicle I drive. I was not happy with the customer service I received on this day.

I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Jim and he's very knowledgeable, not just in business but life in general. They have a great facility, very well organized and comfortable lobby for customers. Highly recommend for anyone in the Northlake area to put your trust in this automotive shop.

Left a review for these guys a few weeks ago, now to update :Brought my vehicle there for an oil change, decided to go with a brake job as well... I watched them go underneath the lift and drain the oil, change filter etc..then another gentleman who wasn t even working on my vehicle was under my hood while my rotors and such were being replaced... not sure why?after I got home, I noticed a check engine light on, and figured it was needing to be cleared and the mechanics over at this place must have just forgotten to clear the code . (MIND YOU NO OTHER LIGHTS ON DASH FOR ENGINE )The Next day I gave Sal (shop supervisor ) a call and asked him if he can clear the code , that had been forgotten about .. tells me to come on by and they can, no problem. Sal goes out to clear the code when I arrive, and then waves me outside to chat with him.All of a sudden I have a Camshaft Inlet Sensor out?!?!Weird... I ve been in the business for a good amount of time, and seen many different things in shops.Giving benefit of the doubt I inquire on how much the cost is to fix .. research online part is ($60-$80) and a dealership book hour is ?? $150 high end ??.. Sal keeps pushing me off telling me he will price it and call me. Wait a day for pricing, and nothing. I call again, and get sent to voicemail .. call right back - Thank you for - Oh , Hey Mario.. is the greeting I get.Very frustrated - I asked what the deal was with a call back , that I was just looking for a price to give THEM my BUSINESS.. and right away he tells me damn near $300.00 !I m done with this place. I should have left it alone despite the rep it had in the past and why tons of business left there. . Good luck guys. Can t fix hopeless

I've brought a couple of cars here for work in the past years. Came to get 2 sensors changed out and the mechanic tried to charge me $900. It was simple work. I had the parts and it was only 2 hours if that of labor. He tried to tell me it was 9+hours of labor. Decided to go to a different mechanic and they only charged me only 100. Will not be back.

Respectful, kind, and honest. They owned me nothing and went above and beyond because that is the kind of people and culture of service they are and cultivate. I was skeptical because of my history with being taken advantage of and after handing my used car (new to me) over to them, I was shocked and delighted how honest and knowledgeable they are! I trust them to take care of my vehicle and that means alot to me! Thanks Jimmy and Mario!

Great service and nice people. Their prices are fair and they worked quickly to get my car back on the road within 1 day. Jim, the owner, even drove me back to work so I didn't have to miss any time.

DO NOT ever use this business. Business owner (Jim) totally unprofessional. Hung up on me was trying to get estimates for repairs. Didn't pass emissions test got a free diagnostic test elsewhere he seemed agitated I didn't want to pay for one.His labor rates are higher than average ...92 per hour average is 70. You would think he would welcome new business. Share with everyone ! Word of mouth is great advertising!!!

Only go here if you like free popcorn, coffee and soda. If you use this place, you will definitely be coming back. Not because you are thrilled with the work, but because something wasn't done right. My reply to response from owner:After spending over $1000 to repair our Kia minivan, it was never fully resolved and the shop lost the engine shroud. Although multiple requests of how much was owed on repairs, no response was ever given until several months after the work being done and we had acquired another working vehicle, we were then told we owed another $900+....no written receipt for work was ever presented. My wife wanted synthetic oil for her oil change on her Ford Edge and standard oil was used and this was not made known until the work had been completed. When she questioned it she was basically brushed off. On my older Explorer, when the rear axle was replaced, the shop used one that did not have ABS brakes. I was never consulted beforehand if this was an acceptable fix. When I bought new tires for my current Explorer, I was charged more than quoted. I didn't realize it until I had paid bill and gotten receipt. I wanted to correct it then and only option I was given was future credit that I had a hard time using. When I had a leak in one of those tires, the shop forgot to replace valve cap. When I had my brakes done, the shop finished up after they were closing for the day. Mechanic gave me car back without test driving it and the brakes were unsafe because the Master Cylinder needed to be replaced. On that same repair, I requested that the rear guide pins be replaced because one of them wasn't retracting fully. The shop chose to just clean them up, but one was still not retracting all the way causing uneven wear on the pads. And finally, I had a tire repaired and the tech forgot to fully fill the tire causing the low pressure light to come on before I had driven one block and had to go back to get that remedied. I have spent thousands at this shop on 4 cars and the majority of times I have to return because something was not done right.

Jim at Northlake Auto did an outstanding job diagnosing and repairing our 2001 Mustang. They quickly determined what our starting problem was, repaired it and gave us a detailed quote, which I requested on other items I wanted looked at. They found a serious ball joint problem I didn't know I had which was not an expensive repair but was going to be a hazardous safety issue. He basically saved me from a potential disaster. His expertise is outstanding and the courtesy and professionalism has secured me as a repeat customer for all of my car repair needs along with ongoing routine maintenance. You can't go wrong giving them your business.Dean

Fantastic shop .I have been going here for about 10 years fro oil changes and tire rotation. You can't beat there prices. Went there on Aug 8 2019 for an oil change and tire rotation after the complete inspection if Mr Jeep Juan told and showed me that I needed brakes the pads were very thin he also recommended the rotors to.He said you should not replaced the pads without doing the rotors. The rotors are not replaced I be coming back soon because the old rotors with ripe them apart. So after giving me a price he said he take care of me we agreed on the price and I was in and out of the shop in about 2 hours for an oil change tire rotation front and rear brakes and rotors.I will be bring my wife's car in soon we know she needs front brakes I'll have Juan check it over and see what he recommendeds. Thanks Northlake auto. These people are total scam artists! Not only did they charge me almost $ 500 for back break pads and rotors, but quoted me a price of $438 for a wiper transmission which I was able to ultimately get done by another repair shop for half that price, and if that wasn't enough, while doing my oil change they broke the handle that releases the hood of my trunk, which I discovered a few weeks later. They smile in your face all the while robbing you blind! I will never ever take my car here again! Totally ridiculous and greedy!!

Great quality service, the manager Elloy goes above to make sure your problem is resolved the first time. They don't guess, and they don't take advantage of people.

This place is great. While I was getting my car serviced, they provided me with free refreshments, a TV that I could actually hear, and best of all the prices are super reasonable. I will definitely be back when I need service.

My 2014 Cadillac, which is my livelihood, needed some repairs and I had previously had service on it here in the past. The work was above my expectations and I was pleased. The work was guaranteed beyond belief and Jeff oversaw the repairs personally and now my Caddy is running like new again. Thanks Northlake

I worked at a few different car dealerships for 11 years which leaves me very suspicious of fair business practices of anyone in the automotive industry.I have been going to North Lake Auto since I left the evil auto industry 8 years ago. If I moved to Wisconsin I think I'd drive all the way back to let them fix my car.Over the years they have graciously extended me courtesies that amazed me. They had to unexpectedly keep my car over night once and then for my trouble gave me some money off my bill. They have a buy four oil changes and your 5th is free. I was up for my freebie last week but it conflicted with my $15 off manufacturers coupon that would expire before my next oil change so they handed me $15 in cash. Who does that? I have never felt ripped off. In fact, if you're not due for a service quite yet they will tell you you can have it done next time instead of trying to get your money that day.North Lake Auto had exceeded my expectations.

Con artists. They told me I needed four new tires and that it was dangerous for me to be on the road. But I barely drive. Bought car brand new two years ago only has 8000 miles. When I told them I didn't want new tires they said my serpentine belt had dry rotted. Again...8000 miles on my car. They are a criminal enterprise. Stay away.
