Ralf is an absolute treasure. He is upfront, honest, knows what he s doing and goes above and beyond to help you. I broke down on my way back to Nashville from a dead alternator and was recommended to go to him as it was a Sunday evening and he very kindly took his time (on Super Bowl Sunday!) to help me.Within a moments notice he went and found an alternator, drove to pick it up himself, and let us come straight to him to replace it in a very timely fashion. He was transparent through the whole process and was super helpful with questions I had in the days following about other issues my car had that needed addressing. If he were in Nashville he would be my go to guy!

Ralf really helped us out with balancing and installing a new tire on our car tonight. We were on our way home to Illinois and had a flat at our hotel in Paducah. He went above and beyond with helping us locate a tire for our car. It's nice to know that there are people like Ralf. We are so grateful.

I broke down in the middle of my travel from home to my destination w my 11 yr old daughter. I called Ralfs and it was my serpentine belt. He helped me get to O'Reillys to get the belt & my battery charged so I was able to get to his shop. I was in & out & back on the road in no time. He was very friendly & knowledgeable. Ralf is a great guy. We broke down on the side of the highway after dark due to a leak in the brake line and he gave us a recommendation for a tow company that brought us straight to him. He worked on our truck all morning on a Sunday to get us going safely and quickly. Extremely reasonably priced and we really felt safe leaving our truck in his hands. He works out of his home shop but don t let that deter you because you re really getting top quality service. We cannot even begin to tell you how much we appreciate it. Ralf's service is the best I have ever experienced and sets a bar that everyone should strive to meet. I was traveling from Oregon to North Carolina with a van full of animals when I lost my power steering pump pulley on Saturday night. With no hesitation Ralf worked with me to identify the issue and did everything he could to take care of my pets and me. He immediately tried to find parts, a place for me to stay for the night, and worked to get me back on the road. While my car was down he dropped me off at a local hotel. He was able to have my van back up and running before check out the next day. His commitment to his customers and to his work is unparalleled. I was extremely luckily to have Ralf's service.

I cannot thank Ralf enough for his expertise, kindness, and quickness. On a 12 hour roadtrip we stopped in Paducah for lunch and gas. After getting gas, the car wouldn't start and wouldn't start even when we walked to AutoZone and got a new battery. Uh oh. It's the starter and that thing was DEAD. To make matters worse, it was a Sunday when hardly any mechanics are open. Luckily Ralf WAS. Not only was he open, but he was incredibly helpful and kind as we talked through all the logistics of timeline and towing and getting a hotel. As I was figuring stuff out I called him back like 8 times and he was always kind and frank in every call. He ordered us a new starter right away and was able to fix it the next day. He was the most communicative mechanic I have ever had, which was so so important and helpful for us as we figured out this stressful situation. He was also very reasonably priced to boot! I will be thinking about Ralf and his wonderful help for a very long time. Thank you thank you thank you!

Ralf is amazing. We were halfway to our weekend getaway destination and the check engine light in our new (to us) car came on and the acceleration ceased. We barely made it to a gas station in Metropolis, IL pulled over, and started to call around to find an open auto service facility. Ralf answered his phone and could tell by our description of the situation, that we shouldn't drive the car any further. He drove to the gas station to perform the diagnostic. Within a few minutes, he told us the car would need major repair and contacted a dealer for us to confirm the repair would be covered. But he didn't stop there - Ralf drove us to a car rental place so that we could continue on to our vacation, and towed our car all the way back to the dealership Chesterfield, Mo, where the repair will be completed. It was well worth the money to know Ralf was taking care of the car and we were still able to have fun on our trip. Ralf is knowledgeable, professional and thoughtful. My family's vehicle broke down at a hotel in Metropolis IL. Ralf was not at his shop but travelling. He asked what my situation was and said he would call me back. He went out of his way to call O'Reilly's and a phone number to another mechanic that we could call. I was very grateful that he took time to get us situated and safe. His care for our situation was most admirable. I highly recommend this business.Service: Engine repair

Ralf is an awesome guy and was very straight-forward with me, someone from out of state and broke down on a Friday afternoon at 3:30pm. He answered when no-one else would, and I don't think anyone in Metropolis, IL would say something bad about Ralf if you paid them! He knew the tow truck driver, and other shops in town suggested I was in good hands when seeing if anyone else had time to get me in, which Ralf even encouraged! Seeing Ralf's work on extracting two sheared bolts that held on my ac compressor would have me taking my car to him to be serviced if I lived closer. Metropolis is home to more than just one super-man...

I was passing through the area on a long road trip when I had an auto emergency. I had to get my car fixed so I could safely finish my trip (which I did, thanks to Ralf!) Ralf was the only mechanic open on that day. I told him my situation. He figured out what was wrong and fixed the problem, taking great pains to make sure that the car would be safe for me to finish my trip. I couldn't be happier with the service he provided. He is honest, fair, and above all, he really cares about his customers and their vehicles. He's a true professional and, in my estimation, a very reliable and good-willed guy. Ralf was the most helpful and friendly person I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with when it comes to car care. Ralf is fantastic. My wife and i ran into transmission problems late on a Friday night. Ralf took us in no problem and gave us a solution to the problem. He had us back on the road in less than an hour! No upselling or frivolous charges. He explained everything to us and showed us what he was looking at so we knew exactly what was going on. In the end, we had to actual force him to accept some sort of payment from us! Ralf is an excellent guy and a great mechanic. Perfect 5/7.

I was passing through Metropolis, IL recently on my way to North Carolina.It was a very hot Saturday, and my car temperature light came on.Ralf was able to meet with me on very short notice. He had me back on the road safe and sound in under two hours.He was kind, thorough and very professional.He charged me a more than fair rate for his work.I wish that he lived closer to Kansas City!I would take my car back to him again without any hesitation.Great guy!

We found ourselves broke down at 4:00 on a Friday afternoon on our family vacation. Ralf took our vehicle, diagnosed it, drove to get the part, and spent half the night making the repairs. He had us back on the road by 10 am the next morning. Ralf saved our vacation and is the definition of customer service. Ralf is such a kind lad. He really helped me and my friends out with our car issues and was able to get us back on the road when we thought we might have been stranded for the night. This guy knows what he is talking about and is a genuine honest man who is really is in it for the fun of fixing cars. He deserves every one of those 5 stars and then some!

This review is from my sister. She put it on Facebook, but I thought it deserved a five star Google review.We were traveling yesterday and our driver s side front brakes blew while we were towing our camper. We hobbled it into Metropolis (the town nearest to where we re staying). The first large garage was booked for the day and closed on Saturday sorry . We were frustrated and tired as we had already duct taped the broken kitchen window in the camper Jeff found last minute as we were packing!! I Googled brake repair Metropolis IL this business came up. Ralf answered it was about 2pm he was on the road and said he would be home around 7. He took all my information, ordered parts. Called about 710 said he just arrived was going to eat a bit of dinner and would be ready. His place was just up the road. He replaced brakes and discs in about 90 minutes. Sent photos of brakes apart so we could see damage.. This man knows his stuff, honest, worked until 9pm on Friday to help us!!! Thank you Ralf

You know a mechanic is good when they do it for fun and to help people out, not just for money. Ralf is a kind, knowledgeable mechanic who helped us with our car to get us back on the road. I usually don t leave reviews but this guy deserves all 5 stars fair and square.

We were traveling through the area and developed brake problems. Ralf was able to fix the problems without upselling or over-changing and even worked late so that we could get back on the road. I highly recommend to anyone wanting knowledgeable and honest auto service.

New years eve 2020. 4 pm. I found Ralf on Google. I didn't read reviews. From the time I pulled in, diagnosed, explained repair, estimated, ordered the wheel hub assembly. Then proceeded removing the old assembly, part was delivered, new assembly installed, paid and pulled out ... the total time, 1 hour and 40 mins later. I was able to get to my location about 10 pm 12/31/2020. Much gratitude.

Ralph saved the day! Was driving through when a wheel bearing started to go bad - Ralph got us in and out in a jiffy. Very knowledgeable and to the point.

Great service and really helpful. He posts videos on YouTube of the vehicles he is working on. I was watching everything he was doing on my vehicle. He is great on parts and labor cost. He even fixed a problem I noticed after I got my vehicle back and didn't charge me for it. It was a minor mistake and not anything to worry about. Still that is service.

Just broke down with a cylinder misfire on my way through going back to Nashville. Ralf came out to O Reilly s where I pulled off to check my engine codes and helped me diagnose the potential issues and even took the time to explain and teach me about what was going on with my engine. Great guy and great knowledge!

Ralf bailed us out! Fixed our breaks on our way home the Saturday before Easter. Now will be able to make it home in time to be with our family on Easter Day! Fair price, great work!

My daughter was on her way to Nashville when she started having car trouble in Metropolis. He was able to look at her car with very short notice. He was very professional and if we lived closer i would take all my vehicles to him for repair without hesitation.
