Starter bit the big one on my Mercedes. They were able to get me in right away, and installed a starter that I provided. They towed my car to their shop at about 3:30 pm, and when I went to check on it at about 9:30 the next morning, the mechanic was pulling my car into their parking lot. I was very pleasantly surprised. I had pulled the fuel pump fuse to swap it with another during my diagnosis, and put it back in the wrong spot. The mechanic found my mistake after replacing the starter.The tow bill was a bit high considering that they did a repair on the car, but I won't ding them for that. The labor cost for replacing the starter was very reasonable and the quick service couldn't be beat.

If I could give 10 stars I would!We were traveling and had car trouble. They took us right in and couldn t have been any nicer. Got us taken care of and back out on the road way. The whole town was So nice and welcoming!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart

Great guys that helped me at 10:23 PM. They were closed but still in the shop shutting down and yet drove to my vehicle to assist with getting me back on the road to continue my trip to another state. Again, I appreciate your professionalism and excellence. I can t thank y all enough. A-1 Automotive, you all are the best!

Our son had car troubles driving across the country and after having two other shops work on his car, stumbled upon A1 automotive. We were so happy to finally find an honest mechanic who really knows how to work on cars. Brian even took time to call the other shop to try to get warranty work done. Cody, the owner stepped in as well and also spent time talking on the phone with me trying to get my son back on the road. Me, my cousins, and grandparents started to break down on the highway. We made it to their repair shop and believe me, these people are the sweetest people. They helped us out so much. We are from Missouri so breaking down in Illinois with 5 kids and two adults is kinda crazy. They took our car in then drove us to our hotel. They are so amazing and I am so thankful to them. Brian also helped us out a lot. Made sure everything was good and helped us with mostly everything. I 100% recommend this place.

Genuine, honest, friendly. Broke down on the road, they got us back on the road same day before thanksgiving. They didn t know the proper 19qt level for our diesel RV so it was 4 quarts shy. That wasn t their problem, as none of us properly knew. I finally found it in the manual. They also didn t want to work on it. We had a dipstick break from the engine block, so we spewed most of what they gave us fresh. Fixed and plugged that up. These guys did the best they could for us and we are still very appreciative. Not a lot of people can do same day on RV s down here. LET ALONE ON THE DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING. They took their time and worked on it outside for us. All while communicating and talking. It wouldn t fit in the shop. They could have easily turned us down. They also filled up our rv tires. Highly recommend regardless of my mishap. These guys are solid and rock. The first stop on our adventure and these guys did everything they can at an affordable price to get us home safely. The boss also was very informative, and talked with us about life and experience which was awesome. You DO NOT get that awesome treatment back west. We did blow a tire after having stems replaced but not until Oklahoma. Can t express our gratitude enough for these folk.Services: Tires, Oil change

Axle shaft broke while driving cross county; they showed me a picture of the broken axle and what was causing the noise/vibration. They got me in right away in the morning for replacement. (also replacing brakes pads) and was back on the road before lunch. Awesome service and very friendly; fun and yet respectful. Great business.

We have used A-1 regularly for our three vehicles. The do pretty much all mechanical work. Not exhausts. We have been very happy with the friendly service. The work done is top notch and they will work with you to manage big repairs over time. They have very competitive charges. I had a great experience here. I was on a 2,000 mile road trip and broke down 800 miles from home. They were happy to help and quickly diagnosed and repaired my vehicle. Great people and service!

The staff at A1 are the real superheroes of Metropolis! Their customer service was above and beyond from the get go, and probably the best cup of coffee in town. Management was honest and fair with us about what we needed to do with our car. And they supported us in our decisions when it came time to proceed. We were out of towner's broken down in a new place in a stressful situation and A1 helped us to feel more comfortable with our realities and helped us every step of the way. 10 starsService: Auto engine diagnostic

Heading down to Florida for the winter and my RV just quit on I-24 on a bridge a little north of Paducah. The police called a wrecker to tow the RV and he recommended A-1 Automotive. They worked me in their schedule ASAP, found the problem was in the transmission. Brian called the warranty people and now waiting for someone to tow it to Nashville to AAMCO. Everyone there is friendly, efficient, and seem to go above and beyond to help. Things are run very smoothly. They found a room for me for overnight and even drove me over there. If you're not going to A-1 you might be going to the wrong place. THANK YOU to everyone who work there!Service: Transmission

DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!! These people are money hungry criminals. I have heard 3 horrible stories of how they take advantage of people. God will punish these people.

I can not brag on Brian and Ashley enough. I went for a routine oil change and they found a radiator hole before it broke down on the road. Gave me a ride and fixed it all the same day. Highly recommend this place! Thank You all so much! KCService: Oil changeService: Oil change

(December 2017) I cannot give them enough stars! Our alternator went out on a trip from Chattanooga to Peoria. We had AAA drop our car off there. We got a hotel and the next morning called first thing. They got us back on the road down to the minute when they said they would (two hours). They even picked us up at the hotel and brought us to the shop. Seriously, thank you from the bottom of my heart.EDIT: June 2018. The alternator we got put in went out about 6 months later. We were really bummed and called A-1 to see about a refund. They were more than helpful! They told us that they got the part at O'Reilly's and gave us contact information. Thankfully, we were making a return trip from Chattanooga to Peoria and were able to get the alternator refunded from O'Reilly's. The guys at A-1 told us to let them know if there were problems and were so helpful all over again. So, again, great job and thank you!

The real Superman is Jared from A1, we were stranded & he had us back on the road the next morning and we were flabbergasted at the low reasonable price if I'm ever in the area and in need of a mechanic I'll only use A1!

I would rate A-1 as a definate five everyone is friendly and know what they are doing they check things over for you and tell you the pros and cons its nice to find an honest business like this one I recommend A-1 to everyone We take all our vehicles to them and always feel we are getting fast and efficient service at a reasonable price .
