The premier BMW restoration and service provider in the country...for those desiring quality. Just had our midstream review, pleased with the results. Confident with the finish and closeout.

My M5 was out of warranty and the BMW service plan. I had two strong personal referrals to the Werk Shop. I had been delaying the big 50k service of diff trans coolant fluids, filters, plugs, etc. I also had a misfiring cylinder causing a drivetrain malfunction. I had gotten estimates from BMW before reaching out to Werk Shop. Every item was 10-30% more at BMW. BMW had told me my front rotors needed to be replaced, which was thousands. I requested Werk Shop to replace them, but James called me while the car was in service and asked why I wanted the brakes. He thought I could get another year or two out of the current ones I had. This voluntary assessment saved me a ton of money. I love the honesty and feel it's very rare with auto shops. I will definitely bring all my Euro cars here in the future.

Highly recommended. I m an experienced DIY mechanic and have done most car repair jobs short of engine and transmission rebuilds over the years. I like DIY but lately lack the time. I recently brought an older BMW here and was amazed at the excellent attitude, knowledge and very fair pricing. Big fan and intend to work with them in future.

There is no better place to take your BMW than the Werk Shop. They have the most experienced knowledgeable technicians who do it right the first time. People from all over the world send their BMW to the Werk Shop for the expertise and craftsmanship only they can provide. I have been using the Werk Shop for nearly 10 years and I have always had excellent services with very competitive pricing. They always provide great council even if I m out of town and run into a problem or just have a question. Very friendly team of folks always willing to help. They are a family of top notch people with a passion for what they do, and a great appreciation for their customers!

Excellent customer service! They are honest and won't try to sell you on services that aren't necessary. They've done an amazing job every time I've brought my BMW or Benz here. James has always been immensely helpful and I would highly recommend them if you're looking for a reliable place to service your car.

Outstanding service, quick, easy, fair and honest - not always words you hear when talking about auto repair shops but The Werk Shop embodies them all. I have been to many of the local dealers in the area for my BMW and none of them compare. From the convenient appointment system, to the transportation to/from work nearby, to the courteous/helpful people throughout the organization, The Werk Shop differentiates itself and has earned another loyal customer!

Quick and highly professional and sophisticated service by true euro car enthusiasts, reasonable prices. This place is very clean, spacious and neatly organized, there is a lot of high-tech equipment and people are very attentive and nice, without any snobbery, they respect your love for your car. At least on two occasions I had my 2001 BMW M3 butchered by arrogant and incompetent idiots at other shops, but I feel absolutely safe leaving my car with these guys. If you love what you drive, I highly recommend this shop, you wouldn't regret.

Heard this shop is the best around. I got my car towed there after I slid into a curb. I asked over the phone how much a inspection/diagnostic would cost and was told about an hour. The tow truck took my car there and I received a call saying various parts were broken. They were fast in the inspection which was great, but then I was told the charge would be OVER double the quote. Yes, they want to charge 2hrs45min after I was told 1 hour. While I don't have a problem with the long inspection, I do have a problem with not being called/told that they needed more time to look at the car. All I wanted was a call saying that it would cost more. Im very disappointed because I had high hopes for this shop. I tried to contact the owner but James refused to give me the phone number. Don't come here unless you like being told that your quote is over double. I don't recommend this shop as their communication is lacking.Edit: The owner called me and negotiated the bill. He was clear and understanding. He was quick to respond and help me out.

This place is awesome. Working on everything from the hotness in German vehicles. To the wifey's grocery getter. They saw a difficult project thru to the end despite my indecisiveness, and issues with faulty parts from the manufactor. They also did it with a smile. James at the front did a fantastic job communicating with me and the parts guys going back n forth. Diligent the way you would be with your own car. If you love your car I recommend this place highly.

Qaulity and attention to service and work has diminished. Wanted to continue to like this place after using them in the past to do work on my E46 330i that I enjoyed driving for a long time. However took my latest BMW project in 2000 (540i E39) and did not receive the qaulity of service as I remember 12 years prior. My first part of this project was to revamp the braking system starting with front and rear axle rotors, brakes ,calipers and hoses. 75% of this job had been done prior to bringing vehicle in for more work. At this stage I needed calipers for now. I ve been doing minor restore work on BMW s for close to 7 years now NEVER!!!! have I been quoted $2300!!! for calipers. They so called did an inspection which Obviously was not truthful because they quoted me all new hoses with the caliper job which if they did an inspection they could easily tell they were new as bar code stickers are still on the hoses. Car isn t driven work is done and it s parked until next job. No way they could confuse these hoses for being old. BIG WASTE OF TIME TOWING THE CAR HERE 54 MILES TO GET A RIP-OFF OF AN ESTIMATE FOR CALIPERS. I pointed this out over the phone regarding the hoses being new, the rep calmly stated well we give new hoses with calipers . Unbelievable. I did have them put a starter in just hoping down the line and after inspection it in fact was actually done and not a subpar job. Will see after inspection of their work is done. Really regret I decided to come back here.Nothing in the "Response from owner" explains why a brake caliper repair alone would be priced at "$2300". When I spoke to the rep over the phone he said, " to do just the calipers would be $2300." This is the reason for the review I gave. Anyone who works with these cars knows $2300 for replacing calipers is insane. Yes the car was towed in as I stated above through this restore process it will not be driven hence the reason for the tow. I towed it 54 miles because I'm over specific about who I work with. However this time it didn't work out. Needless to say and surprisingly enough I took the E39 to the BMW dealer I purchased my X5 M50i from. Calipers fixed not even close to the number quoted here. 1st world problems right. I'm over it on to the next.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Brakes

I only have good things to say about this shop. I have been coming here for more than 4 yrs now and never they never disappointed me. I come here for oil changes, multipoint inspections, and any other needed repairs for my Z4. I like how they provide shuttle pickup/dropoff, i didnt need to use it as much but when you need to leave your car for serious repairs, it is very convenient. These guys are honest and helpful in every way when it comes to servicing your vehicle. I will always recommend this shop to every single european car owners i know that live around the area.I moved to Pleasant prairie WI. But i would not hesitate in coming down all the way to Libertyville to have them do my car service needs. They do an excellent job in serving their customers and making them want to come back.

I had rear brake service done on my 2011 BMW 550i. The Werk Shop was priced much better than the dealer for the service and got me in and out quickly! Highly recommend and I will be back in the future!

The Werk Shop is a professional establishment with quality service. I took my pre-owned BMW x3 and James the service manager took care of all my concerns. We agreed on the 120k mile service inspection and afterward, I was, and still am, extremely confident with my purchase. My goal is to eventually get 300k miles out of my BMW x3 and the Werk Shop will get me there!

EXPERT BMW SERVICE AND RESTORATION -- I couldn't be more pleased with the transmission replacement that the Werk Shop did on my 2001 E46 (330i). My car runs like new -- AND, she goes in reverse with no problems (inside joke there)! Mike is a very, very nice guy, and he and his dad's passion for BMW is obvious once you visit the shop. Vic, the service manager, is very matter-of-fact and will tell it to you straight -- this makes for very, easy and informed decision making. I only wish they were closer to Chicago, but at least the Metra is close by, and they'll send a car to fetch you from the station.

Great, knowledgeable, HONEST & friendly business. After I received a service quote from the Local Audi service dept, I felt something was not correct. Received a second opinion from The Werk Shop. They did a full analysis on my Q7 and found nothing wrong with my battery, that supposedly was on the way out. That saved me a ton of money. We need more businesses like the Werk Shop.Thank you again James.Bob

I had been taking my car (SL500) to the dealership it came from for years. Recently, I was having continuous issue with my vehicle and the estimates for repair just kept going up. For a while I just assumed that was part of an aging vehicle and started to consider getting rid of my car.About a year ago, I took a list of things my dealer had identified as an issue over to The Work Shop for an inspection. I was shocked to find the things on the list weren t issues and the other half they quoted me for about 60% of the dealer estimate. The work there is great, the people are very helpful and I continue to take my car back for any needs. I went from thinking about getting rid of my car to now being comfortable I will have years ahead of me.

I have seen their ads in Windy City BMWCCA newsletter for as long as I can remember and knew they had a great reputation. Even though I needed to have a PPI for a Porsche Cayenne and not a BMW, they said they could do it. They did a very thorough inspection and for a very fair price! They also did it quickly for me since I was trying to buy it from a dealer, which I did. Thanks guys!

3 stars because theses guys seem the the go-to shop if you need the authority on anything BMW. Overheard a very top notch phone call with a customer about their vehicle. Normally this would land a guaranteed 5 star rating, but I don t own a bmw. I stopped by to see about getting a service light reset after performing the service interval myself at home, as you need a specific tool to reset the computer. Told the guy at the counter exactly that. His response, why would you ever change the oil yourself? Any number of reasons, starting with I ve been working on cars since I was little, have a lift at home and the dealer wants $300 just to change the oil. None of that matters, his response told me all I need to know. The more clueless the customer the better, maybe it s because I look young. 10 minute job couldn t be squeezed in until next week. Won t fault them for that, busy business is a good thing, but I wont be setting something up.

Had a problem with my Mini sunroof. Called several specialty shops much closer to my house, none of which wanted to touch a sunroof. "Too involved." "Too expensive and customers balk at the price". Etc... Called the Werk Shop, and they were like "yeah, no problem." Once they confirmed the issue, had to go back once the part arrived (sunroof motor). Repair took about 3 hours, but you can easily walk into downtown Libertyville and wait. Price was about 1/2 of what looking online suggested it would be. Everything works great. If you have a a make and model they service, bring it there.

The guys at the Werk shop correctly diagnosed a real mystery problem and determined part of the wiring harness in our Ferrari 355 had melted and by replacing it not only resolved the issue, but saved us a ton of money. Our cars at Curvy Road need to get back out with our members, so the Werk Shop's efficient resolution really was important to us. 5 stars

I have an old Volvo with 275,000+ miles and was taking it to the dealer for service until recently. What a mistake! The people at the Werk Shop are friendly and do just what is needed. You will save a lot of money going here.

Why take your classic BMW anywhere else. These guys know the cars inside and out and will fix it the right the first time. I just had them do 5 speed swap, engine maintenance and a new exhaust system for my Tii and could not be happier. A+

They have worked on my 2001 Porsche Boxster and did an excellent job. I have also referred them to other Porsche owners and they were also happy with their service. Highly recommended.

Outstanding! Couldn't ask for better service, and their prices are much less than the dealerships. Mechanic explained everything done while we stood in the shop. Highly recommend them - you won't find better.

They restored my CS coupe 10 years ago and it has taken me as many years and plenty of $$ to undo and fix their Werk. Be afraid. Not the people you want to work on your car....
