Danny, Ben and the team are great to work with. Even though they are clearly a very busy shop, I feel like they still treat me personally and care, like a smaller one-on-one business would.I've known Drew, the owner since they opened around 2010 back when he was interfacing with customers as well as working on the cars. I've given them occasional feedback in improvements in their processes, and it's clear he cares about the quality of his team's work, and if there are any areas to continuously improve on. He has always had someone contact me to discuss how they can do better.There may be lower cost shops, but it is worth it to come to Pit Shop, because I can trust them. Excellent customer service, and quality of work done.

I m from out of state and was thinking about buying a car nearby. I hired Pit Shop to do a pre-purchase inspection. Not only were super patient with me since I was out of state (paying over the phone, went through the entire inspection with me over the phone, etc), but the inspection that they did was excellent. They sent me a text with the report, it included clear pictures of all the problems and even a couple of videos. I ended up not buying the car due to their findings. I d highly recommend Pit Shop. If I m ever in the area and need a mechanic, I will absolutely go back to them!

Came in for an oil change and inspection on my used dodge charger RT. Good thorough inspection led to multiple findings which is exactly what I was looking for. Night and day difference in the work provided and how I personally was treated as a customer compared to the dealership. It can be pretty blood boiling trying to get affordable good honest work on your vehicle but The Pit Shop checks all the boxes. Thanks for the cookies too

Brought my car in for rough idle and service light code definition. Techs determined it need an Intake Manifold repair. Still having idling issues post service. It seemed apparent that the routine replacement of a Timing Belt kit would alleviate this anomaly. (Why wasn t this recommended at first service? I was at mileage window for it then. Post Timing Belt kit, the idle still poor, fuel consumption extremely impacted negatively, and the vehicle now presents minor oil and transmission fluid leaks. Gave them one last chance to correct it, but techs determined that I need another $1000+ service that has miraculously appeared or was missed in prior service visits. These techs are hacks and my opinion is that they created problems to get more money. Beware!!Response to Drew s reply:The context related to my history was in response to your tech s inability to repair a vehicle correctly the first time. In my business , you tell a customer their vehicle is repaired, IT S FIXED!! Not more high cost repairs that supposedly just happens . It was directed at the awful customer service I received. If you truly wanted to address my review, you wouldn t rely on only the information you received from your employees that don t listen to the customer. I stand by my review and find now that it s obviously a leadership issue. Thank for your deflective reply. Maybe had you called/messaged me, you would ve got my side of the story and then learned the basis of my dissatisfaction. Apparently you don t really intend to correct or review your business actions or protocols.

Very thorough. They even helped me document an issue for a car that was under warranty to help get the dealership to cover the repairs under warranty that the dealership was trying to not cover. Highly recommend!

Have taken my daughter s car here a few times and each time very happy with the overall experience. They don t try to sell you on unneeded repairs but have been helpful at identifying issues that were emerging and potentially helped me avoid bigger expenses down the road. Fair and reasonably priced, very happy with the work. Only unfavorable part of the experience was that communication on status could have been a little better so I withheld the 5 stars.

I m pretty clueless about cars so always had them serviced at the dealership and followed their recommendations. The last few visits the dealership has always found major issues . The car is ten years old which is to be expected. However, it only has 35k miles and garage kept. It s our second car. Most recently we were told the car needed brakes and a new battery at its 35k maintenance appt. I decided to get a second opinion and called Pit Shop. They were super friendly. Took a look at the car and said everything was ok and explained why. I appreciate their honesty and will definitely be bringing our cars here moving forward!

Pit shop Auto repair helped me immensly.I was not able to fix my Porche Cayenne at delearship due to high cost of repair.I only wish I brought my car to Pit Shop earlier.5 stars.I also got cookies from them.Finally,they spent hours dealing with my extended warranty so I was able to fix my car.Alex Kondic

First time here. Front desk lady was very nice, and I got a bag of cookies when I picked up my car. How that happened? I dropped off my car for oil change and they called me for break fluid because of the mileage. It took 3 hours to complete all the maintenance. They take care of their customer s car very professionally, and I think it s valuable. I checked their reviews before I picked this shop and it s close where I live.

I used my coupon, they were quick and did only the work requested. They didn't try to sell me anything that was needed and the oil change was very reasonable priced. Plus I got free cookies!! Keep up the good work.

I've been going to Pit Shop Auto Shop for years for oil changes, alignments etc. The prices are reasonable with a dedicated crew getting the car back on the road. I recently had my vehicle towed after hours to Pit Shop to repair a overheating issue. The crew diagnosed the cause and called me with the issue and price, I asked them to repair what needs done and my car was ready for pick up a day earlier then expected. I highly recommend this shop. Thanks Drew, Danny, all the crew and especially Ben for your work.

Very clean and friendly garage. I've only had oil changes there, but it's always efficient. Had an estimate for brake replacement done, and it was in line with other garages. The waiting area is small but nice. Service is always followed by a package of Matt's cookies. A nice plus.

These guys have always impressed me! The oil change took longer than what you d expect from a lube job shop but these guys aren t grease monkeys. They took the time necessary to evaluate everything and let me know what my Fj needed at its current mileage and condition. No pressureThanks again for the outstanding service! Oil change and check up was satisfactory; however I had another important issue with battery which needed a fix. I left the van at Pit shop around 11 am and was expecting a call with details as to my options for battery. Waited till 5:45 pm or so and then I made the call. I was told the car was ready but when I reached there, I was told there was no time to fix the battery problem. The battery issue could cause the car to stall and can really hinder me driving the car.I was disappointed that I was not given a call to explain the situation; instead I was given my van back with an issue which could cause it to stall on the way home. It truly felt Pitstop folks did not care if I reached home or not. It seemed they had enough existing customers and did not really felt the need to add one more. I actually called the next day and asked if battery could be fixed; I was told by the lady receptionist that someone would give a call back. No one called back . In the end I took the car to a local workshop who fixed the issue for $20.It is unfortunate- because I did like the regular service on the van but it just seemed the folks did not care enough to satisfy a new customer. So now left with a dilemma - should I go back or not? Honestly not sure.Update on 1/24: The Pitshop representative called and acknowledged the mistake and also apologized . It was a pleasant surprise to get a call back and my view of Pitstop has changed - it takes courage and honesty to acknowledge a mistake and I am very happy that they valued my review and took an honest effort to rectify it. They have offered me even a free oil change! Thank you Pitstop for your desire for customer satisfaction. I am updating my stars to 5 because I value the thought and honesty in the call.

I had a great first time experience since the moment I arrived. I went in for a diagnosis on my Mercedes Benz C280 and everyone was helpful and attentive. Definitely going back and definitely recommend.

They were extremely kind, helpful and efficient. Everything was thoroughly talked over with me to make sure I understood what was going on with my car. They were honest about what need to be done and what I could hold off on for a while and still be safe. They're sitting room has coffee and a TV that you can control. And they gave me a WHOLE package of gree cookies (they let me pick out the flavor and everything!) Could not be happier with thier service.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Oil change

My 2010 Ford Flex had a major engine failure. These Pit Shop wizards were able to replace and rebuild - saving me thousands in new or used car purchases. My Flex runs like new now for a lot less. Came up from SC for a boot camp graduation and my transmission went out. The staff at Pit Shop went above and beyond to get us (my wheelchair bound son) up and headed back home as fast as humanly possible and that was after helping me coordinate getting my van towed and Googling transportation for us to get back to our hotel.They kept me updated every step of the way and made double sure we would be safe to drive home. The cherry on top was that they brought my van to the hotel so I wouldn't have to find and pay for transportation with wheelchair accommodations. I am beyond pleased and grateful for all their help and hard work. Simply amazing. Except Ben...he forgot my cookies. Lol Just kidding Ben.Service: Transmission

Absolutely outstanding! The day after I had work done on my car, a significant red light came on my dashboard. I called the Pit Shop, and they sent someone to help me right away. They came to me and tested my car while I was at Pet Supplies Plus in Grayslake. They fixed the problem causing the light, and I drove home. No stress! Excellent people and service.

Very thorough shop that uses a systematic approach for getting the information on your vehicle up front. Nice comfortable waiting room, with ability to work while car is serviced. Completed in the right amount of time that I had the peace of mind of knowing, it was not a quickCompletion. At the end they showed their appreciation with a gift. I recommend! I am traveling for vacation on a RAV4 2014. The maintenance light turned on so I made an appointment here with a friend's recommendation and must say, that customer service was top notch from the get go.From the moment I stepped into the front desk, the gentleman was professional and helpful. I got to the waiting area, which is clean, and got offered coffee and bottled water. Truly nice.The actual oil change was quick. They also checked for any other issues for free, and told me of what other checkups I should be aware of. Very helpful! Highly recommend the place!

They people her were professional and courteous. My car got stuck in the shop for 5 days, and they loaned me a vehicle free of charge as long as work was being done on my vehicle. I have never seen or heard of this anywhere else. Danny seemed pretty tied up, and I could see why. I will definitely be coming back here. P.s they give you free cookies at checkout.

Update, November 2023: Although their charged for synthetic oil I am positive they did not use 5 quarts of synthetic oil as shown on their receipt and whatever oil they put it only lasted 2K miles, instead of 5K miles (Joe Schultz said it should last at least 5K miles). It is obvious they put very little oil so I come back for "oil leakage repair"!! They are LIARS & THIEVES! Took the car to a different shop - I was told there was NO oil leak!! Guess what? Everything under the hood is still looks dry and the parking spot stays dry too. No, there is no oil leakage from the valve cover. A receipt and oil leak repair quote from this shop is attached under Photos.August, 2023: They are GREEDY SCAMMERS. Went for oil change - they deliberately spilled oil on my valve cover and told me that my oil was leaking pointing to the oil they spilled and quoted $200-$300 to replace the lid and another $130 to diagnose to make sure that was the "problem" part. I may not be a mechanic, but I'm not stupid. Guess what?? Everything under the hood looked completely DRY RIGHT BEFORE taking the car to this shop. Also, after I wiped the oil they deliberately spilled everything still looks DRY to this day! I would not even give them 1 star. Wonder who wrote all these FAKE positive reviews, LOL.Service: Oil change
