We brought our van in to auto repair specialist because multiple friends told us they would be able to assist us with our transmission issue.We told them prior to bringing it in what we were quoted at the previous shop and they said to bring it in and they will take a look at it. The same day it was brought to them I got a phone call from Noah one of the techs told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with our transmission and that we just needed a new battery and an oil change, great news!So they did that and we received our van back.Exactly a week later I was driving out of town and my car stopped driving in the middle of an intersection!!!!! I was broken down stuck with all three of my kids and immediately had it towed back to them.They called me the following Monday after and said the transmission is totally done that it will be almost 5k (for a used one mind you..)I was so frustrated and disturbed that this was missed the first time and seemed like pure negligence to me.There was no apology from them, just excuses from Dave on how it didn t show the codes the first time.Unfortunately we will not be recommending them, nor using their service again.

My husband jeep was fixed this past Wednesday and mine was fixed this morning. Auto repair specialist does wonderful work. I have no completed and I would agree have referred them to family and friends.

These guys are the worst they sure pay for a lot of five star ratings they probably see hundreds of people a month so they only let the people who have a good situation happen give them stars. Spent over $5,000 to fix air conditioning had to go to another shop where they actually fixed it. Well they were trying to fix my air conditioning they cut my main wiring harness and did not replace it Just simply spliced it. These guys are amateurs pretending to be professionals stay away. The advertise a lot cuz they need more people to keep coming in to replace the people that don't come back.

The team is very friendly and professional. I have used them for multiple services for my vehicle and the work is always done quickly and properly! They are quick to answer any questions I have. I would not use any other mechanic in town. I trust them to do quality work on my vehicle every time with friendly and knowledgeable service! My aunt recommended ARS to me after moving to Freeport just two weeks ago.I work from home, and I value exceptional, clear, and concise communication over the phone. Tim, the gentleman that worked on my vehicle, was very patient with the intermittent issue I was having. Also Mariah who processed my payment. Very clear and friendly people.For the repair that needed to be done, ARS was so fast! A starter replacement and that fast?! This was a great experience. My Buick rides smooth and peaceful now. Thank you!

I am SO thrilled and relieved to have found these wonderful people. Since moving to Freeport 8 years ago, I have had nothing but bad luck with a couple of car repair businesses. When I lived in the Chi-burbs I had a fabulous mechanic. My car is 18 years old low mileage and in great condition - I plan to keep it that way. With these folks, I know they will and have taken great care and, not only have they diagnosed the problem CORRECTLY - they actually FIX it! And in a friendly and extremely timely manner - even a loaner car. I love these folks. LOL, and no, they are not my relatives. ;) I just can't say enough good things. Great place! This was my second visit over a year (different car/issue). The staff were amazing and so helpful and friendly! They had to keep my car overnight to let the ice thaw, but offered a loaner car, which was extremely helpful! They inspected the car, took care of the issue promptly, and made sure it was safe to drive, all at a very reasonable price! Would return again, and would definitely recommend to anyone needing auto repair or maintenance.

Dave and his staff are exceptional in every way. Today I took my car in just to get a second opinion on what a mechanic in Arizona told me was an issue...long story short, Dave, the OWNER with flashlight in hand crawls under my vehicle to inspect and assess the problem. Tells me not to worry, I'll be fine driving back home to AZ. PATRONIZE this business!!

I've been to Auto Repair Specialists 3 times so far, and plan to continue. They are friendly and efficient, and call you if they find another possible problem that might need attention. Loaner cars are available if the work will take more time than you can wait. Have already referred two friends, and you get a bonus for that too! Dave and his staff are some of the most friendly and caring people around. We've taken our vehicles there for pretty much anything that I'm unable to tackle myself. Auto repair specialist are the only mechanic service I honestly trust to touch my cars! Just had a alternator go out that they had put in years ago, and they were happy to obtain the warranty replacement for me with no problem at all! Saved me $177 out of pocket. Thanks again guys! We will always be back!

The service was quick and the receptionist was very kind however they heavily overcharged me. I had went to this shop because I had a tire that had a sidewall go out, I wasn't able to break the bolts with the kit included with the car. So I simply wanted to have them take off the rim and put on the spare. With shop tools that will only take 5 minuets if you are dragging your feet. They charged me 40 dollars for changing a single tire. I was planning on giving them 20 bucks and maybe a 10 dollar tip. I know multiple shops that will do 4 wheel rotations between 25-40 bucks. I tried disputing this with the shop owner and he said he charged me for the time. 1/3rd an hour. I was in a pinch and had no other choice, and they got it done shortly after I brought it to them. But I was left with a bad taste in my mouth charging me 40 dollars for putting on a spare that takes 5 minuets. I will make sure to keep a pipe in my car to ensure that I have enough leverage to break the bolts next time I need to put a spare on. In summary, the service was fine but I'd discuss pricing before handing them your keys.

Hands down recommend this shop to anyone! I have had more than one experience where I was stranded with a broke down car and they were right there to help me. Everyone is so friendly, goes out of their way to remember their customers personally, definitely a small town feeling, which I look for! Prices are very reasonable and they will always do their best to get you in and out as fast as they can. Also enjoy the perk of them having loaner cars if need be! If you are looking for a good, honest mechanic, this is the place to go!!! Can not recommend enough.

I just bought a 49 Pontiac Restomod that had several issues that needed attention. The crew at Auto Repair Specialist researched what components were used to build the car and then put an action plan together. They called me and updated me on the work and what was done and what still needed to be done. I have never experienced such great communications. They repaired the brakes and a couple of electrical issues. I am so pleased with the work done and delighted with the excellent communications along the way. When it's time for more repairs on my 72 year old car I know where I will go. Auto Repair Specialist is the place to go you won't be disappointed.Brian B

My mother came here for the first time with her vehicle and had exceptional service. Due to a bad experience (at a different auto shop prior) it was very important to me that the company understood my moms needs and communicated to me any issues with her vehicle! The office personnel was top notch and treated both my mom and I very professionally! I would highly recommend Service: General repairs & maintenance

This company is amazing! We were driving through on a work trip and lost all but one of our lug nuts on our back tire. We got towed here and they really took care of us! They were more than helpful. Provided great service and were so friendly. We a really appreciate them making what could have been an awful situation not so bad. Thank you for all of your help! We are so grateful!

Had a brake failure, dropped off the car in the late afternoon, even though they were booked up the next day they diagnosed the problem early the next morning. They always explain in detail what and why repairs are needed. I especially like their car loaner or shuttle service and their ability to take pictures of the car that I can look at online while they explain the repair over the phone. For the last 15 years, I have recommended ARS highly.

I needed oil changes for both my vehicles and I just moved to Freeport, so I was super happy that Auto Repair Specialists were booking appointments! While I waited, one of the owners came to introduce herself and thank me for choosing their shop! That personal touch means a lot to me. They even noticed and replaced my burnt out lisence plate bulbs, and let me know about another issue I never would have seen myself. I felt like I was among friends, even family, while they cared for my car. Thanks for being a great first choice! Now I don't need to worry or wonder where to go next time I need something for my cars.

07/02/2020Above and beyondAs usual, Dave and his team outdid themselves!! My mom and I bought a vehicle for my brother, who is moving up here from florida, and has never driven in snow. Of course the car was a lemon! But I brought it to Dave and asked him for help and to please make it safe for my brother and his 2 boys. After having it for a week, and many "issues found", later, his team tackled every issue and more. Even after paying more to fix it than it cost, I know it's safe! Well worth it. Lesson learned....take it to Dave, before you buy it!! Thank you all for the great job.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Tire rotations, Auto brake replacement

I'm very happy I finally decided to get the service recommended by Dave at Auto Repair Specialists. Dave and the guys did a great job! Dave and Jennifer always do a great job explaining what needs to be done and what was done to my car. And it makes me feel good that Gina always remembers me when I call or come in. A great place to do business!

A few hours before leaving for a family vacation I discovered the air conditioning in my wife s car was not working very well. I called Auto Repair Specialists at 2pm on a Friday and after I explained my predicament, Dave said they could squeeze me in at 3pm. By 4pm my wife s car was repaired and the air conditioning was perfect! I have always been treated well by the folks at ARS and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Wonderful service and excellent work. They have gone above and beyond for our family. They never do anything more than we can afford. We have had so many horrible experiences with places in Freeport doing unnecessary work or, actually causing damage to our vehicle that ended up costing hundreds more to repair. Not so with A.R.S. They let us know before they make any repair that they see that is outside the original estimate. They also care about their clients. When my husband's mother passed, they found out and sent a sympathy card! Very few places care that much about their customers. I cannot praise them enough.

Very welcoming place.. very friendly. First timer there and won't be the last. Had a transmission premium flush done on my truck and great price and service, and Mechanic was happy to go over everything with me. Highly recommended..

My Kia Rio wouldn't start after 2 weeks staying home because of Covid procedures. I called Auto Repair Specialists to see if they could find out what was wrong and fix it. I called AAA for a tow, ARS found out a couple fuses had blown, and fixed it the next day. With all the new restrictions, they were still able to do a great job at a reasonable price. They even wiped down the car inside and out before returning it! I'm new to the area, but I'll sure be going back to this location for future service. Friendly, helpful folks even in this most difficult of times.5/8/2020

I have gone here time after time to try and give them my business, and everytime I end up going somewhere else. They are very expensive and do poor quality work. I went to get my brakes changed and they literally couldn't do it and tried to tell me I needed new brake calipers after I just bought OEM calipers a week earlier. They charged me $45 for looking at my car, nothing else. I took it to firestone and not only were they able to fix it with my current calipers, but they also gave me a free inspection. Do not waste your time or money with this company.
