The best mechanic I ve been to. Honest car shop, affordable and fast. Experienced technicians and a very knowledgeable owner who will explain what you need to replace and why. Don t believe the 1 star reviews, this is the best place to have your car serviced.

Had my heater core done by these guys a couple of weeks ago on my Volkswagen Tiguan. It was my first time doing business with them. They did and awesome job and they were pretty quick. These guys seem to be pretty honest and knowledgeable.

Do NOT bring your car here!! The mechanic is dishonest, unprofessional, and does bad work. He doesn t solve the problem. He forces you to pay for the work he did and then the car will have the same problem. I literally brought my car because the hybrid system was bad, he told me it was the battery, charged me $900 to replace it and then when I left his shop the car shut down on the highway for the same problem. When I brought it back he said now it was some other issue. And continued to charge me. I don t know how he got all these 5 star reviews, they must be fake because other people i spoke to who dealt with him ALL had bad experiences with him. Do NOT trust this guy.

I took my Toyota RAV4 which had a bad fuel pump to him. He said it is fixed. After using it for a "week"(!!!), the car stopped working. Upon re-examination, he said the fuel pump itself is OK but some "wires" needed to be fixed on the fuel pump job. He did it, and after using the car for running the car for less than 150 miles, it stopped starting. I took it to another mechanic and he said the fuel pump is bad. I have since bought a new car so I care less about my RAV4, but this last time hearing the fuel pump has stopped working made me so frustrated and irate. This mechanic is, I am afraid and sad to say, the closest I have ever seen to a fraud.

Jafar and Ben and crew will treat you fairly and honestly! Don't have to worry about shady tactics other auto repair shops will use to bilk you. I've had zero wait, same day service and next day service at an affordable price with these guys. Refreshing experience!

Jafar and Ben are great. As a woman I ve always been unsure when taking my car to the mechanic. Both are honest, give good pricing and do quality work. I feel so comfortable with them. discovered this place during a crisis and have been coming back ever since!

Best Place to get your car fixed!! When every other mechanic was forcing me get new transmission then jafar was the only one told no need of it just need to replace clutch !! Great job!!!

J&B have saved me twice now in the past couple of months. Jafar came to my family s aid when I was out of town and our brakes froze up - he literally drove out to our underground parking garage in Evanston and helped my wife get everything fixed, all while helpfully explaining what was wrong.Later that month, our battery died in a parking lot, and after a friend jumped the car J&B let us sneak in before closing time and they replaced our battery, again extremely helpfully. Couldn t recommend them more.

I bought an 18 year old used car recently, and the transmission started acting funny (delayed shifting, minor gear slipping). When I checked the carfax, I realized it was overdue for a transmission service. I brought it to 3 different shops and they all refused to touch the transmission for liability reasons.I found this place on Google and figured I d give it a shot, fully expecting them to give me the same death sentence and turn me away. As soon as I pulled in, two guys walked up and were very friendly. One of them (I believe it was the owner) was asking me about the issues I was having, told me there was a chance the transmission could fail, but said he knew these cars and recommended a drain and fill with some additive. He gave me a good price and got the car in right away.Over the past week, the transmission improved and has been shifting perfectly! I know the issues could come back but this shop did an amazing job, helped me when nobody else would, and were very delicate with the old transmission. The owner even showed me the old fluid and was extremely transparent about every step they took during the service. I felt well taken care of and would highly recommend this place to everyone I know - especially people that drive older, temperamental cars. This guy really knows his stuff!

This place is excellent! I do most of my own work, but with my daughter being at Northwestern and me in NY i needed to find a reliable fair mechanic to do some major (Tranmission and rear seal) work on my daughter's car. Last summer I broke down around the corner from J&B, barely got my car started again, pulled up out front and died. They helped me push my car into place. Then they replaced the alternator, very quickly. Very nice people.THEN 3 weeks later, the replacement alternator (rebuilt, not new as is standard) died! Smoke pouring out of my car. I got towed back to J&B. It was *pouring* buckets of rain, after hours, but they came out and helped me get settled. Then replaced it with a *new* alternator for free. Not sure how they did this, must have cost them quite a bit, since I initially only paid for a refurbished alternator. Very quick and professional.These people will take care of you.I waited a while before posting this review to make sure the second replacement alternator was good :)

This guy changed my engine and car is running better than the first day. Car is so quet you can't tell if it's on or off. He fixed air conditioner and it's colder than the first day. Price wise, He charged me way less than average for something that's usually harder than average work. His staff are polite and very straight to the point. Honest and technical. Better than anything I can ask for.

Both you and your car are treated with respect here. They have a friendly and professional staff. They are honest about what repairs the car needs and they do those repairs in a professional and timely manner and put your mind at ease.My car had a critical problem and I had lost hope of fixing it after taking it to a few other shops but their manager (Jafar) made sure that my car is fixed with a reasonable cost.I recommend them for any type of repair or routine maintenance.

J and B auto was a life saver! My transmission totally died and I stumbled across J and B Transmission & Auto Repair! I called and spoke with Jafar. He listened as I asked a million questions! He was able to confidently answer all of the questions!As they kept my vehicle to do the repairs, he was in constant contact.I stopped in to see my disassembled transmission, and happy to see how clean he was able to get it and to see the new internals they were going to install. They rebuilt my transmission (as requested) and it has been driving like new every since. He still keeps in touch to make sure everything is ok.THEY WILL DO THE JOB RIGHT THE FIRST TIME! They can do pretty much anything for your car, and at an affordable price. Jafar has 40 years of experience working with cars, so if you have a problem, you can bet either he or the other qualified mechanics there can fix it.

I came for a price comparison on multiple repairs and saved over $200 against Midas or AutoZone. J&B searched for the right part when even the dealership didn t have it. We had friendly conversations while I waited and watched them work. 10/10 would recommend. Call ahead to see if they are too busy or have a spot available same day.

I had a very pleasant experience with this repair shop. They changed the alternator in my Toyota Corolla earlier this year, and they were professional and honest. They also offered competitive pricing, timeliness, and strong communication throughout the repair process.

UPDATE: I've been to Jafar a second time now--my car battery died because I left it parked for too long. Because it was in an underground garage, and it would have cost an arm and a leg to tow it out, Jafar came and jumped it himself. What do you say about a person like that? I recommend Jafar, not only as a mechanic, but as a human being. I'm glad he has an auto shop because there is no website to give humans 5-star reviews in general, but he really deserves it. I've recommended Jafar to everyone I know. Honest, awesome, creative mechanic and human being!---This is my first review of any kind. I cannot more emphatically recommend Jafar at J&B Transmission & Auto. He is creative, resourceful, client-centered and probably a living saint. When my car broke down a few weeks ago, my regular mechanic charged me $350 for the diagnostic and an oil change and quoted me $4500-$6500 for a very complicated repair-- I was contemplating selling. Thankfully, I sent the car to J&B for a second opinion. Jafar towed my car to his shop and spent DAYS looking for another way. Rather than a cylinder head replacement, it turns out all I needed was a new fuel injector and spark plugs. Even after he fixed it, he put gas in it and drove it around to make sure that the problem was truly resolved. The total came to $681: upwards of 90% less the diagnostic/quote at my usual place. I'm determined that he makes up the fantasy $4000-6000 that I wouldn't have paid anyone but that he didn't try to extract from me. Please, for your next oil change or tune up, consider taking your car to J&B!

I went on a road trip from California, San Francisco , to Illinois .My check engine light came on , so while at near by pizza places, i asked the owners for a good mechanic that they'd recommend to me, And all of the people i asked, told me go to J&B auto on greenleaf St. So i did.Soon as i bought my car in, they repaired it, told me what was wrong. and they took their time to inspect my car to ensure it was safe on the road for my long drive. This is my kind of Auto Repair service business, Family owned. Motivated to earn your business. Thanks alot Ben!
