Went to Tuffy for an oil change today. I've been going there for years for all of our automotive needs. Troy, the owner, is such a great guy to have in your corner. Whatever you need, call Troy. He's the best.

Pleased with the work and service. However the credit card service charge from visa was passed on to me in the bill. DID NOT LIKE THAT. That is the merchant's cost of doing business.

If you are tired of feeling like you aren t sure if the dealership or auto shop has your best interest in mind then come see Troy and Tom at Tuffy. I have been their customer on and off over the last 5 years and I always come back to them because they tell me what actually NEEDS to be done to my car, they don t suggest a whole bunch of services that make no difference in the safety or functionality of the car. I trust them to shoot straight with me. They always give me a good price and they get it done on time. I highly recommend checking them out!

Brought my Dodge Ram truck in for a brake job. Tom was very courteous and straightforward. Very happy with the work that was done and the cost. Will definitely tell my neighbors and friends that this is a very trustworthy place to do business with. They take pride in their work and do quality work. Will be back when future car or truck work is needed.

I am a very careful shopper and do make sure to write reviews, when I feel they are warranted, good or bad. Part of being a careful shopper, as anyone knows by reading this, is to check out all the reviews online and make an informed decision, before spending your money. I own a Cadillac CTS and checked this repair facility about repairing my rear window power mechanism. Troy gave me a fair price, but I had no idea at the time, as I hadn't checked his facility online, or received any other quotes up to that point. So after getting home I called around. The nearest Cadillac dealer wanted 1/2 hour labor to give me an estimate. The Chevy dealership wanted a full hour (149.00) to give the estimate, but they were 20 minutes closer and would provide a loaner. So I went to the Chevy dealer for an estimate and before incurring the 149.00 fee I requested a "worst case scenario " quote, as Troy had given me. The amount he gave me was far above what Troy quoted. They also gave me a courtesy ride home, which he does for customers without someone to drop them off and pick them up. I recommend this repair facility to anyone in or around Elgin IL.

Have brought my car to this location for years and Troy and his staff have always done an excellent job. I never have problems and the work is always completed on time, excellent service and best of all they are always honest!!! Recently I had forgotten that my brake fluid had been flushed and changed with my last brake job. I brought it in to have an oil change and to flush the braking system and change the brake fluid. Tom realized that it had been changed last time and rather than charge me for a service I didn't need and was not done, they just informed me and no charges!! Many a service center would charge and not think anything of it. I thank them for their honesty and would refer any friend or co-worker to come here for their car service. Mark F.

BUYER BEWARE!!!I went to Tuffy s because I heard a constant loud noise under my car. The diagnosis was my exhaust system, catalytic converter, muffler and flange must be replaced. The quote was so outrageous I decline the service. I went to another shop that showed me my flange was rusted out and was the ONLY thing that needed to be replaced. Needless to say, for a fraction of the cost I was originally quoted my car is running like new.Service: Auto exhaust system repair

This was my second visit to Tuffy Auto. The manager Troy was very helpful and provided very good service at a timely manner. I have recommended Tuffy to three of my friends.

Both Tom and Troy are excellent at what they do. They tell you what's wrong with your vehicle and what needs to be fixed at a very reasonable price. I have been going there for a while now and plan to take all my vehicles there for maintenance and repairs. Keep up the good work!

Troy and Tom have always been awesome to deal with when needing repairs. We've been taking our cars there for years. Never have we ever felt as though we were being given incorrect information. Will continue to use their services when needed!

I had the rear rotors, pads, and a brake fluid change done on my 2013 Highlander.I will be using Tuffy's to keep my Toyota going for 300,000 miles.

after getting new tires at discount tires ,i needed a front end alignment as well which they dont do.so i went to car x,in carpentersville,they told me i needed 2900$ in repairs in order to do it.not saying anything about my experience there,i went to tuffy,s in south elgin.Chris did the alignment,cost me 105.00.so i showed Chris the reciept from Car X.all he could say was WOW really,.my point ,if you want to do businesswith a companywho cares if you come back,a company with integerity.see chris at tuffy,sService: Auto engine diagnostic

Went there for an oil change and tire rotation. Service was slow as slow could be. Had an appointment made. Arrived early and stood and waited for help as there was 4 workers just standing around doing nothing. Only one other customer in store who was being helped by another employee. Once I was helped, car was taken in shop. Took over an hour for standard oil change and rotating of tires. While my service tech was working on my car, the other employees sat in back room watching tv or on internet. Paperwork stated that all fluids were filled. Once I left, checked washer fluid and it was empty. Store was closed by then because my basic service took SO long. Called following day and spoke to manager about problem and was told by him that it was my fault and my car must be leaking washer fluid. I explained to him that my car was new and did not leak,but if it would have leaked they would have seen it with the amount of time my car was on lift. Manager replied by saying that they always fill fluids. He was very rude. Will NEVER go back

I love Tuffy in Elgin! This is the ONLY place I will go. I've gone to other places, but Troy has always been honest with me and has looked out for us to save us money when other mechanics have tried to cheat us.Even after moving nearly 50 miles away, I only trust Troy and his mechanics at Tuffy to touch our cars.

These guys have performed all of my oil changes for the last decade. They will always inspect the vehicle and let you know if it needs maintenance. A trustworthy team.

These con artists tried to swindle my mother out of 3,000$ on a new transmission because here was grinding metal and shot. Then I had my brother in law look at it, drive it, and tell me that it was just a malfunctioning sensor. So now it s up and driving for the past 2 months with no problems. So essentially these people tried to take advantage of an elder woman who was visibly upset. That s low.

Overpriced. Shopped the exhaust work. Quoted just under $1k, found another mechanic and was <$650 for OEM parts on top of the non-oem at tuffy's, all-in.

I said there will be no charge to look at my car went back and they charged me $65 none of us could believe in that time they went there with no engine light on when I pick the car up engine light was on and they said they had nothing to do with it just bad business I wouldn't recommend anybody go there shiesty is shiesty we're going to push the boundaries wonder how many people they ripped off puppies in Elgin off of Randall Road would never go back there again

Went in with a problem they took a look at it and charged $99 dollars. Normally they would let me count that $99 dollars towards the repair cost, but this time they would not. So instead of paying $400 for the actual repair, I would have to pay $500.
