I recently had the pleasure of taking my truck to Merlins and I was thoroughly impressed by the level of professionalism and quality of service provided. I went to Merlin's today because my car was indicating oil change needed. However, the Manager was very patient and willing to look into the situation, come to find out, I had my oil changed there last and didn't need my oil changed for 2k more miles. Other places would've told me that I needed an oil change. Now that's the Honesty and Integrity of Merlin's in Elgin. Thank you for outstanding customer support and service.

MERLINS IS ABSOLUTELY A AMAZING SHOP!! They have done nothing but improve our vehicles over the years, they have ALWAYS helped us squeeze in so can get them in with our busy work schedules. Also if you go there say HI to Joe, he is literally the heartbeat to the one in Elgin, this guy is one great Manager he runs the front with complete control and has always helped us with anything our needs are at the time. If there was ever one shop I would recommend it would be Merlins in Elgin right on Randall, don't forget tell Joe you said Hi.

Joe & Jose are amazing. I shopped on Groupon for auto care, I went to Merlin in south Elgin. I was in there for less than an hour they did everything oil change, tire rotation...etc it was package deal for less than $100 bucks I got the 12k. So this is my 2nd time going I trust them more with my car than the dealership. I highly recommend Merlin

I've been here for brakes, a starter, and a radiator. Three different vehicles, thankfully. I feel like they did an excellent job, and they charged a fair price.

Called to get a quote for a new thermostat and coolant, they quoted 450 without tax for the thermostat and said coolant will be free. On top 150 for a diagnostic. Called merlin in hanover they charged 225 for thermostat and free coolant! Thermostat are not 400+! Specially on a 2013 honda. Hanover merlins, also included a free diagnostic if fixed with them. I literally paid 500 for new thermostats, replacing the coolant, an oil change and new serpentine belt at the hanover merlins! This place is a rip off, should definitely call and get quoted else where before going here. (Called him back to let him know and all he said was okay )

If I m honest, whenever I hear about repair work I feel like it is a different language to me. That puts me at odds with most mechanics that I work with because I feel like they are always explaining why I should get more work done (and why I should pay them more).Thankfully, at Merlin, I never get upsells, never get some behind the back fees, and never feel swindled. They re realistic and kind. Especially joe, the manager. He is consistent and clear and I d recommend anyone to come here for work. Especially if they get to interact with joe.Great work Merlin!

February 2024, 198,000 miles and still running fine! Thank you!!!Today, my car reached 188000 miles. I'm so grateful to the Merlin team. I need a safe running car, nothing fancy. The last two times the car was in the cost was under $40. Honest, capable and very nice people at this auto care shop. I highly recommend.

I usually bring my car elsewhere for brakes and service. A few years back I tried Merlin s it was close to the house and I have yet to be disappointed. Customer service to the repair has been a 5 in my book. As of now if service stays the same I will continue using Merlin s in elgin.

I thought I would go back and give them another try. Bottom line, its just not the same experience without Luis. It's cheaper to go to a dealership who understands and knows your car better, has skilled mechanics, even provides a full service truck wash, and most importantly, cost less for a basic synthetic oil change. Their pricing was higher than any other local services by $10+ and I've been a long term valued customer. I don't feel that way anymore and will think twice before I go back. I recently just moved to Elgin so I was in need of a new auto care shop to do my oil changes/ my go to when my car has issues.This auto shop is amazing! I m so thankful I found them a few months ago because they re so honest and the service is awesome.I recently had to bring my car in cause I had a screw in my tire and they fit me in the day I called. The manager is also very friendly along with all the workers.Today, a lot of places have unhappy employees where as a customer you can feel unwanted sometimes, this auto shop definitely made me feel welcomed. They also took the time to explain my issues that were going on with my car. I m not very car savvy and most of it is confusing to me. They made me feel comfortable explaining what happened to my car. Also giving me recommendations like my lug nuts need to be replaced.I m thankful this place is down the street and I have now found my new auto care shop.

Joe Schmidt of Merlin's did me a great service. I had a hard time getting my truck to pass emissions. A diagnostic showed my right side catalytic converter to be faulty. A Ford F-150 has two catalytic converters. I attempted to do a fix myself using lacquer thinner. This failed. Merlin's replaced the right cat but my engine light came up shortly afterwards. Joe thought it could possibly just be the sensor. Unfortunately after contacting a Ford dealership he discovered while most right side catalytic converters refer to the right or passenger side, the Ford F-150 references the right side as you look at the front of the vehicle. This means the driver's side catalytic converter is the right side.Joe had this catalytic converter replaced AT NO CHARGE rather than have me pay double. I'm happy to say I finally passed emissions and I highly recommend the hard working crew at Merlin's automotive shop for your automotive repairs. If you are searching for outstanding automotive customer service, this Merlin's shop is the place to go.

Tired of bringing my car so many times. Those puppies are breaking my car parts one after another and costing me so much money. brought my car in for a simple coolant leak after seeing spots on the ground after they replaced themorstat and such few months ago.They said cant find any leak? B.S. I can see it with my own eyes. Coolant leak splattered by the belts. They kept saying this or that and wanted 2400 for head gasket replacement? Steer away from THERE. I'm so DONE with this place.

Very trustworthy - hard to find that these days. Had a manifold leak. They gave a good price to fix - better than other places that I received an estimate from. Also when on lift they showed where the leak was and after fixing showed me the damaged old manifold. They also showed me the new manifold after it was installed. Great work and 24,000 miles warranty. Fantastic. Service manager Joe goes out of his way for you and to explain, etc.

This place is run so well. Joe is the guy to talk to and he beat another Merlin's by $30.00 to install a battery. Doesn't do work that is not needed but lets you know of potential problems. Great to have any honest car repair shop in Elgin.Service: BatteryService: Battery

Reliable, upfront service. Went in to get my check engine light checked. They weren t sure what it was, but didn t charge just for checking it. Joe was friendly and professional the whole way. Their prices are right in the middle, but the service makes it worth it. I ll definitely be back.
