Before visiting this store today, I was actually a customer of Advance Auto Parts' main competitor. I happened to visit this store today by chance, and was helped by David, the Store Manager of Advance Auto Parts - Hanover Park, who was helping at this branch today.David was genuinely kind and generous with his time, and helped me install the part I purchased. Even though it took some time and effort, he insisted he wanted the job to be done right. He was extremely skilled and competent. If all the team members of Advance Auto Parts are like David, you just got yourself a customer for life.

The manager, Chris, did a great job figuring out a tricky return transaction for me during a battery-cable-stressed road trip! His associate didn't show up to take over the counter, though, so the ordeal took almost an hour.

I ve only been to this store twice to pick up packages. First time no problem, the young gentleman that helped me on Wed 6/21 around 3:30ish was super nice and polite and patient, I wish I would ve known his name) I give him 5+ stars. Second time 6/22 around 2:30, you would ve thought I asked Ray for his kidney, super lazy, ignorant & disrespectful. My son & I walk in, another employee is talking with a customer I m standing waiting, my son points out that Ray is just sitting at one of the registers (mind you he doesn t say anything), I walk over to him and say, Hi, I m here to pick up my package. I hand him my package delivery slip and my ID, still no word from him but huffs under his breath and walks away. The other customer says, Hey Ray not in a good mood today? Ray turns the corner without saying anything & carrying my package (blender). The customer says, I see you re making smoothies. Ray still doesn t say anything. I tell my son, be ready so you can carry that from him. Ray Carrie s this over the counter, looks like he s trying to give it to my son, so my son goes to grab it, Ray & my son play tug a war for like 3seconds, then Ray say, I have to do something first. My son looks confused because this grown man has had non verbal attitude from the moment we walked to his register, plays tug a war and then speak with attitude. I then say to Ray, well say that to him, speak, you ve had attitude since the moment we walked in and even the other customer called you out on it (customer chime in and says, yeah I did. ) where s you re customer service? Ray gets all bent out of shape, says, that customer knows me, you don t. I said, obviously, even worse because I m a customer and you ve been nothing with attitude non-verbal & verbal, I need to hurry up and get out of here, please hurry up so we can leave. It s not even busy and you have all this attitude and I can t imagine if it was busy how you d be then. Have a great day! I told my son, that s a perfect example of BAD customer service. The other employee stays out of it and doesn t say anything. Sorry Ray, I walked in & you had to do some work, but I m not because that s your job & I hope you don t treat anyone else that way. I d give you -5 stars if I could. There s always time for change. Treat others the way you d want to be treated.

Came in with a car battery that i had purchased from another store because the other store said "they could not replace it due to low staff" and they replaced it for me DESPITE the freezing temps outside. Would give 10 stars if i could, my car was literally dead in the parking lot and they insisted on replacing it for me, good guys. Huge thanks to Gordan because he is the one who replaced the battery for me! These guys had no reason to help me and they did, i think that says A LOT about their characters and personalities! I cant speak highly enough about this location and the staff. Keep it up

Hands down the best customer service, people like Jim don t exist anymore, I was working a job across the street and my starter got stuck on and would not stop cranking, I drove my car and parked it in the parking lot to change the starter out myself, Advanced Auto didn t have my starter in stock but I was getting it dropped off from another location, Jim helped me find every tool I needed, he then continued to call every mechanic he knew to make sure it was a starter problem, he also called every Kia dealer in the area to ask them questions about my issue, he tried to get me in to the repair shop next door but they were busy the entire weekend, he came outside periodically to make sure I didn t need anything else and offered to help me, he also stopped me from doing my repairs because every person he talked to said it was an electrical issue not my starter, so I put my car back together returned the starter and had it towed to a mechanic, I needed a one time use funnel to replace some coolant from removing a hose and Jim rolled up some computer paper and made me a funnel. 5 stars for this location Jim and the rest of the staff, he even held on to my key and waited for the tow truck so I could go home. They went above and beyond for me!

I would like to thank Kevin who helped me to replace my battery, battery replacement person is not available on the day I visited the store. But, Kevin helped me with the replacement. He went an extra mile to help me. Thank you for all the support. Would recommend to a friend.

This place was recommended to buy my car parts. I also purchased wiper blades the man did not know how to put them on that worked there. I went back two days later to ask a different associate to put them on. He was the only one in the store and I assumed too busy so he totally got an attitude grab the blades and put them on for me but was angry and rude. I will never be back or recommend this place to anyone. Terrible customer service.

I would never go back to this store ever again. This guy so called Woody gave us the worse customer service. I went along with my spouse to look for specific car parts well long story short, their prices were outrageous compared to Amazon and he reacted so disgusted when we mentioned him that these parts were so much cheaper at Amazon so I kept looking at his face and the way he was looking at my spouse was unacceptable. You need help buddy, you carry on so much hate in your soul, people like you shouldn t be working in stores. You have no idea how to provide great customer service and also patience , SO LONG ADVANCE AUTO PARTS!!!!!!!!

Terrible store, needed a part called to confirm they carried it. Confirmed pulled it aside I get there and they try to sell me a completely different unit after confirming they had it. Incompetence all around, will not return.

Experienced the most wonderful customer service under this pandemic today. Arrived under the impression I needed a new battery, turns out my battery was in great condition. Jason was kind enough to step out to my car, showed me how to open my hood (made me feel empowered), hooked up a portable monitor to diagnose my engine, and kindly verified I was using the right gas after telling him some of the issues I was experiencing! Advanced auto parts will definitely continue to be my go to!

They are friendly and everything BUT becareful. I needed a brake caliper and their mfg. made it wrong, the guy swore it was OEM and nope, didn't even look the same as mine. I had to return it and went somewhere else.I would advise you bring in your part with you and match it before buying it and taking home. Plus you save the time/money with no core charge etc.

Had to call twice Getting worse I been a Loyal customer for more than 5 yrs but this morning I went back to AutozoneNathan guy I think that is his name, had an attitude from the beginning, not willing to help, is like he doesn't like his job at all, I ask him to refund my 2 transactions because I was very upset, I missed the friendly service

Unhelpful service, I was attended by Ray and he didn t want to serve nor assist me when I had asked for help.I wouldn t recommend this location for any auto services. Especially when you need a helping hand.

I went to get my battery checked there today with the possibility of buying a new one; these guys have been doing very great job. They are very patient in checking the battery. They found it low at first and recommended it to be charge (FOR FREE). They charge it for about 30 minutes and will come to tell me the status of the progress and apologize for the delay. They didn't expect to make any money checking the battery and charging it, but they still provide excellent service. The battery was dead immediately because it wasn't able to keep the charge, so I had to buy a new one.I'll definitely shop there again if I have to. By the way, there was no wait in line, so the service was very prompt.

Called, Mando, to have an alternator shipped to location, was told I could pay for the part when it had arrived at the store. Specifically asked twice if that was correct since I ve been told to come same day to pay before shipment was done. Called back to see if part was in, same employee, Mando, answered and consistently decided to have very sarcastic and rude attitude saying he had told me differently. Very unprofessional and when asked to speak to manager, I was hung up on. If I could give this place zero stars I would, not the first time this has happened with this employee. Serious should consider training him on the phone with customers or being more clear on things about shipment and payments.

The manager CHRIS provided one of the worst customer service I experienced. We rented a sliding hammer in Bensenville for a project. Before I paid, I asked at least four times to make sure we can return anytime. The manager there said doesn t matter. We have your number on the system so you can return whenever including a few years if you needed it for that long. I thought that was great! So we tried to return it yesterday, which is a few months later, to the location by our house in Elgin. My boyfriend spoke to the manager and he pulled up all his information. The manager already looked disgusted. He told my boyfriend to not touch anything else, said now we need to clean it, don t go there, etc. When he saw the profile, he said no you can only rent for two weeks, after that you bought it so you can t return it. Then my boyfriend explained my conversation with the Bensenville manager. He then said no we don t but you can go back to them which was 40 minutes away. That was ridiculous since the other manager said you can return anytime to any location. My boyfriend left and told me that the manager was not wanting to deal with anyone and was very rude. At this point, I was really upset because that s not what I understood from Bensenville. I called the other Elgin location, Bensenville, and two others. They all told me that the manager was too lazy to process it and lied to you, but you can come here and we can take care of you. It took two minutes for Bensenville to return it! And at the point we asked him what s going on with this location and he said we re all corporate so that s a lie. I called and spoke to the manager Chris today and he said maybe it was me at first and that that was what HIS BOSS taught him! He then said I wasn t sure so I contacted my boss. So why didn t you tell us that?! Instead he has a disgusted face and just told my boyfriend no. He then went on and said it s not my fault I ve only been here for TWO YEARS. What?! Two years and You don t know how your rental program works?!? Then he should not be a manager!!! At the end of the call he continued to say it s not his fault, He s only been there for two years, and that s what his boss taught him. Seems like his boss needs a demotion at this point too because other managers seem to know more if Chris is speaking the truth. If employees are that scared of customers right now, they should not be working or you should not be open for business. That entire interaction was very offensive. It wasn t like my boyfriend was coughing or sneezing and showing signs of illness. I m surprised that that s how one of your managers behaved. Now I m waiting on corporate s call for the complaint submitted.

A good store in a convenient location. Unfortunately like most places they did not have the part I needed. They did have a nice hat for $9.99 so I didn't feel like my stop was wasted time

I stopped in there to find out why my check engine light was on.They took care of me right away.They were also helping another customer with something under their hood too.Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

I was having some electrical problems with my car. They ran their tester on my system for free and found out it wasn't electrical at all. They staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and really help you to find exactly what you need.

We broke we broke down in AutoZone alternator went out they told us they couldn't help us and wouldn't help us even though we were broke down in their parking lot so we called advance Auto parts ask them if they can bring us an alternator they said yes no problem and brought it three minutes around the corner if it wasn't for them we'd be stuck in AutoZone's parking lot all night great people great help

The wait to get help is always long, and as soon as you walk in, someone behind the counter always ducks out of view to the back, so they don't have to help. When you do get help though, they are very courteous and helpful, and always know just what you need.

Each time I go there they are unhelpful. Guys telling me someone will be with me soon but site there answering phones. When finally helped and also them to check my codes, oh their machines are down and they can't help. Wasted 15 minutes. But at least those people who call on the phone got helped!

Employees have great knowledge about products. Auto Zone Employees are horrible and rude. I live closest to auto zone on McClean in elgin but would rather drive here. Thanks Advance Auto Parts!!
