DO NOT take your vehicle to Dave s Garage. The mechanics never show up on time, they leave oil residue inside and outside of the car. We took our VW beetle there to get an ESTIMATE on getting the speedometer fixed and ended up NOT getting an estimate and NOT having the speedometer fixed, but 5 other things fixed on the car. It took 2 weeks to get the car back. We would call every day at about 4:30 (they close at 5), hoping it would be done, and he would say they just started working on it an hour ago. They supposedly replaced the struts, axle, transmission plug, sensors, and more. They then wanted US to drive down to Abington IL to get a part from a junkyard when we already overpaid for what they did. They also told us it had a small oil leak, which we knew of. The day we brought it home, it leaked almost all of the oil out onto our driveway. They must have cut something. Before we took it to Dave s Garage, it would leave about 2-3 drops of oil in our garage but not much and now it s leaking all of it out. All of the parts they installed I could find on Rock Auto for a fraction of the price. Oh and.. it still runs rough after the struts were replaced.

Price for labor on the replacement of the 1.6 liter 4 cylinder turbo engine was pretty reasonable considering some places we called wouldn't even attempt to put in a used engine, which is why I didn't make this review a 1 star!!However, it took 5 different trips that were not quick, get in and wait while they fix it trips, to Dave's garage to fix the air conditioner and keep it from leaking out the freon, after they replaced the engine in my husband's 2013 Ford Fusion. On multiple occasions we had to leave the car there for more than 1 day at a time because 2 of their mechanics had called in sick or they had an emergency (not sure if these 2 guys are related or not, but seems odd it happened twice!) On attempt #5 they were supposed to have a mechanic there at 9am on a Saturday and he hadn't shown up by 10:30am... They didn't work on our car until the afternoon so it again had to be left overnight when they knew we needed it back the same day. We ended up having to borrow a friend's car to get to church and didn't get the car back until 8:30pm on Sunday.Other than the 5 trips we took back and forth, the time and gas lost, the hassle of trying to get us both back and forth to work when the car wasn't ready the same day we left it there, and finding rides with friends and coworkers... we did not have to pay anything extra for the extra 10 days they had our car, or the time spent finding where the freon was leaking from (since it was their fault the freon kept leaking out) On attempt #4 they finally put dye in the car to find the leak, but didn't have time in the 2 days they had it that time to run it so they could fix the leak then instead of making trip #5 there to replace the O-ring that was leaking.I won't go into all the details, but suffice it to say that overall we would NOT recommend this repair shop to our friends. Very very very frustrating to say the least!

First off Dave is a great guy who tries to help all the customers who come to the shop. He is a all in all great guy, he has been in business for over 30 years. With this being said I want to respond to Kashica Whitfield, this is the lady who works in Dave's Office I feel it only fair if your going to make a post about something like this you should state the WHOLE thing! Not, just the negative. When you brought your car in you were quoted a price for only a few things you wanted done and before all was said and done we did about three times the original amount of work. So that is why your quote was one price and your bill was another, your husband brought us in a ton more parts and had us work more on the car then had been said to begin with. Your car was NOT in a running state, so the fact the keys were left in the car is not relevant. The reason your car was not stored in the garage at night, we are a small shop with only 2 bays for working on cars. So if you wanted to store the car we could of charged you a storage fee. Instead we placed your car under a camera so it was being recorded 24 hours a day 7 days a week for the almost month the car was here. I am not saying that the keys being left in the car was a good thing at all but I will say this much, the car was towed in and you guys pushed it out of here, so IF someone had tried to steal it they would not have gotten to far. They would of been on camera the whole time as well. You said you paid, like $15,000 for the car, average retail is only $8,000 and that's RETAIL not private party! I myself would never pay HIGH RETAIL on a vehicle, given the fact that it did not run when you bought it, basket case IS not worth HIGH RETAIL I don't care if it was the car my great grandpa bought in high school as his first car or something, I would NEVER spend that kind of money. That was the point Dave was getting at when he told you that the car was not worth that kind of money. Just saying.

Beware of Dave's Auto Repair and Sales. We were looking for an Astro van for our son and located a van 170 miles from our home.I talked with Dave the owner and asked if the van has any problems, he said the brake lines had been replaced, it pulls to the right so must have some rust on the rotors and there is a little body rust.I came to an agreement with Dave and sent a deposit for this vehicle to Becca. I also sent her an email and asked her to make sure that this van has no problems and it is safe for my son to drive it back 170 miles. My son made the trip and gave Becca the bank check and started to make the drive home when his cell phone rang and Becca told him to be careful with the brakesI took a closer look at this van and took it for a ride. The gear box had leaked all the fluid out and when the brakes are applied the ABS light comes on and it pulls to the right. As I was stepping into the drivers side the floor was all rusted out. I looked at the air cleaner but it did not have a filter. How nice to drive 170 miles with no air cleaner! AC compressor was grinding. I called Dave's and talked with Becca about these and other problems with the van. Becca called back and said Dave will look at the brakes if I want to drive it back 170 miles. Really? Now how safe would that be? I have spent a lot of money on this van and still had to put more money and time working on this van myself to make it safe for my son. I understand there is no warranty and buy as is, but what a joke to tell lies to sell a vehicle. I would never recommend this place to anyone that is interested in buying a vehicle from there. As I said before, buyer BEWARE!!

They installed a reman engine in my Jeep. Finished the job in good time and with a fair price. Being an older model it had quite a few other issues. Theyv worked with me on other additional repairs with good quick results. I will return to them again. Great down to earth friendly people. .my friends at work have commented on how quite and smooth it sounds. Im happy to tell them about Daves Garage.

Rachel Travis- Maybe Rachael you should tell the whole story of why we had to take the car back an why your upset an trying to put a bad review on google. We are not the scam artist here. Yes, we repoed your buick cause when you don't pay for the vehicle that we let you make payments on to buy an you tried/did dodge us for 1 yr. You are the reason we no longer accept "buy here pay here" when trying to buy we do a layaway service now. You gave the car to your boyfriend ,THEN you gave us the whereabouts to where it was. We even held the car for months so you could come an get it back and make payments. So whos the real scam artist here...? Thank You , an Have a nice day

First I took my car in for a timing cover by the way I have a 1970 oldsmobile cutlass on 22 inch rims, first Dave told me a specific price and when they finish it was twice the price I was quoted. I asked them to keep it in the garage at night (because of the value) but they failed to do so. Not only did they leave my car outside they left the doors unlocked and the keys on the seat (my interior is done up too). Then when I bring this to their attention Dave had the audacity to tell me that my car ain't worth the money I paid for it. NEVER EVER WILL I DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN. THEY WILL STICK YOU ON THE PRICE AND THE MECHANICS ARE NOT ATTENTIVE!!!! THINK TWICE BEFORE CHOOSING DAVE'S GARAGE!!!

Dam rip off, got dopefiends (that will steal out of your car) doing all the work and they are incompentent and will damage clips, brackets, harness, and other parts trying to rig your vechicle good enough to get you out of there once they get your money. Not to mention they will leave oil stained finger prints and smudges all over your car, and interior. Lose bolts/ and or replace them with the wrong/ diffrent bolt. If they damage anything they will say it was like that when they got it, also be prepared to take it back several times to get it fixed right. At $60 a hour its very cheap, but not worth the headache. Get it done right by a more professional mechanic. Remember you get what you pay for.
