Dominick was extremely professional and pleasant to work with. His team rebuilt the transmission on my SUV. They did an excellent job and the price was competitive. Excellent customer service. I highly recommend them.

I had a great experience here. Dominick was friendly, honest, and understanding. He was upfront about pricing, and was genuine when I asked about future care of my transmission, and when I should return. I will be coming here in the future with any transmission needs.

A costly experience at another place in Skokie brought me to Transomatic in Desplaines.I can't say enough about these guys. I believe I was treated honestly and fairly with some respect thrown in. The people here are professional. They also know what they're doing. The turnaround for my need was within the day. Price quoted was the price I was charged. I don't know what else to say without sounding like I'm full of it. Thank you Dominic and everyone else.

Super awesome place! Friendly, straightforward, fair, timely, helpful, honest, I could go on! I came here on the recommendation of my siblings who were very happy with their services, and I was blown away by just how upstanding they were. They got me in to look at it and to get it repaired right away, which was a great comfort after having acceleration issues and transmission codes. I would not hesitate to bring my jeep back here, and I don't trust my jeep with just anyone! Definitely one of the good ones!Service: Transmission repair

We had been having some possible transmission issues going on in our car and had gone to a Honda dealer for evaluation and was told we needed a new torque converter and axle seal replacement for a total of $4,000. I then was recommended by another transmission shop to go to Transomatic where I would be definitely given an honest opinion on the matter. Dominic at Transomatic took the car to check and when I picked it up that day he stated they had changed the transmission fluid and didn't see any obvious transmission issues and recommended I drive the car for few weeks and then return for them to check for the seal leak.The car ran perfectly the whole two weeks and they found no axle seal leak. I asked for the bill and Dominic would not take any money, even for the transmission fluid change. That blew me away and I can not recommend them enough for anyone with transmission issues. I called Transomatic on the advice of a friend who has had great experiences there. My 2001 Deville is at another transmission shop that worked on it 3 yrs ago. While Dominick can't get to it in time because they are swamped, he did take the time to answer my questions so I felt I wasn't being ripped off b this other guy's estimate. I will be taking ALL my transmission as well as any "under the car" work there in the future. I was raised to understand you need 3 things in life: a lawyer you can trust, a doctor you can trust and a mechanic you can trust. Transomatic just joined my short list of mechanics I trust.

Dominic was great to deal with! I'm from Florida and my transmission went out while I was in Chicago on business. Dominic got me right in and was able to get me back on the road so I wouldnt miss my next contract work. Knowing my situation, he didnt take advantage of my emergency and was very reasonable in the price to rebuild my transmission! If I lived in the Chicago area, they would have me as a customer for life....thanks Dominic!!

I've used their services twice and each time I've received an honest assessment of the issues with the transmission. The first time was on an older vehicle where it didn't make sense to spend the money. The second time was on a wheelchair van on which they rebuilt the transmission. They where busy but where able to fit us in and they delivered the vehicle on time.

Trans-o-matic is awesome!! All my life, after taking Autos in high school and I'm pushing 60 years old, I've known transmission shops to be rip-off joints. These guys are not.I brought my vehicle to them, a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a shift solenoid problem that I tried to fix myself, and couldn't seem to figure out before I went to them.I called around. One place tried to sell me a rebuilt transmission without even asking me what was wrong with mine. I brought my Jeep to Trans-o-Matic based on seeing good reviews, and took my chances. I'm pleased to say Dominic took very good care of me, was extremely honest and patient as he took the time to explain my particular vehicle's situation, and got me in and out of his busy shop as quickly as he possibly could. Although he COULD have taken advantage of me, he definitely DID NOT RIP ME OFF!!!If I ever have another problem these guys are the go-to place for me. You should try them.

I went to this location for issues I was having with my 2010 BMW X5 , After about a week I was informed I needed a new transmission my old one burned up.. These guys went above and beyond to ensure I was back on the road.... They were also able to repair a oil pan leak as well. I will recommend all of my friends and family to check them out.. My review is honest and true and from the looks of it the rest of the reviews are false testimonials from family and friends of the owners. The same day I posted my 1 star review a positive 5 star review was posted to bring the overall score back up. Here is my experience: I came in on Monday November 19th at 8am and needed a mechanic to look at my 2008 Toyota Yaris and give me a professional opinion about a problem with the radiator. I spoke with a tall older fellow who works in the office and he told me to leave my car there and in the afternoon they will take a look and give me a call. Well, nobody called, so I called and the same tall older fellow said he will do it now and will give me a call in 30min. No body called. I called again next morning and the same tall older fellow said no worries he will bring the car in the shop and check it now. I waited all day and again nothing. I called late afternoon and the same tall older fellow said they've been very busy so didn't have time to take a look but next day first thing in the morning. I waited and guess what - no call. I called at noon - no answer. I called again an hour later and the same tall older fellow tells me the car is now inside the shop being looked at. I waited for a call back and nothing. Thursday morning I called again and the same tall older fellow tells me that they finally checked it and need to order parts but since it is Thursday the parts will most likely come within 2 business days which is most likely next Monday. So for 4 days the car sat there and now it will sit for another 4 days before anyone fixes the radiator. Shocking! Well I took the car and went to Derek's Auto on River and Oakton. Mike was super friendly and checked the car right away and guess what they fixed it in no time. My experience with Transomatic was incredibly unprofessional, the tall older fellow could care less and his voice was slow and monotonic to the point where I was falling asleep. There is no way the 4.8 star rating is genuine. I am 32 years old car owner and I've visited few mechanics in my the past 13 years and nothing compared to the awkward lack of care from Transomatic.

Whoever they had fix the a/c on my trailblazer ran a wire across the fan shroud and into the top of the fuse panel, having the AC relay hold this wire in with one of the pins. This is a fire waiting to happen. I'm contacting the attorney general's office Monday.Services: Transmission, Air conditioningServices: Transmission, Air conditioning

We got the repairs we needed done for a fair price. It took a little bit of time to get the car fixed but it worked out because I had to get the money for the transmission repairs.

My trans was leaking fluid in buckets. I called up and just from what I told them they pretty much new the problem. Brought my van in the morning had it back by lunchtime. Gotta love when people know what the hell they are doing.

You will not be able to find a better place for the money. Customer service is spot-on. They offer free towing - even all the way from Lake County.
