Interesting 2-experiences (1st & last) this morning & 20-mins before my scheduled 8am appointment. I spoke w/CAR x Ken yesterday afternoon at 4:33pm and scheduled my appointment for 8am today 3/7/2024. I explained to Ken that I would be moving my morning appointments around to accept this 8am appointment Ken confirmed. Ken appreciated this and said these appointments usually take about 45-mins or so. Accepted & Ken requested my email for future promos. Shop guy Bill just called me @ 7:40am 3/7/2024 and states that I do not have an appointment and could leave my car all day, if I still needed an oil change? Bill explained that I did not respond to an email that I never received or expected and and there is nothing else he could do for me. His words. 11 and a half hours ago, this appointment was available thru Ken and when I explained to Bill that I moved my morning around to accept Ken's appointment, Bill said that he understands & actually does not. Not even remorse that there might be a glitch in his system. Bill just made a decision to ignore a new resident to Des Plaines and Customer to his shop. Too, bad and I was looking forward to the close convenient location and was expecting to get an estimate for my 1st set of brakes during the inspection as well @ 73,000miles on this car. I have other cars, too. Crazy, how disrupting my entire morning schedule drove me to create my 1st ever negative review! Now, I understand Bill!

I went online yesterday and made an online appointment for 530pm. It states appointment not confirmed until associate reaches out to confirm. Figured it was just a formality since, you know, it is 2023 and that's not how online appointments work. I did get a missed call from them yesterday evening but no voice-mail. Get here at 530 and was told no appointment since not confirmed and nobody available for two days. Somebody from there literally called. Couldn't have left a voice mail to let me know that Hey! You are all set! Or Hey! Please call us back to confirm! Or even Hey! Go pound sand! Thankfully, there is a Just Tires right next door. Took care of it right away. Hey Car-X! Go pound sand!

What a GREAT experience! Friendly & helpful staff. They serviced only what was needed. 32 point courtesy inspection. Prices were reasonable and the service was done when they said it would be.I'm from out of town. It's nice to find a place that doesn't take advantage of a situation like that!Update: I needed to remove the air box on the car (under the air filter). I was disappointed to see it was full of leaves and debris. It would have taken 2 extra minutes to do this right. I'm lowering my rating...

Came in for an oil change. William was very friendly over the phone and in-person, and checked my brakes, engine codes, etc, for free at the end. The total for the oil change ended up being ~$45, very affordable.

Satisfied customer here! Totally brand new rebuild from a fire damage in the past. Very friendly, professional and quick service. They fixed my flat tire in about 30 minutes. Can't beat that anywhere.

William (Bill), the manager was an absolute nightmare and no help at all. I ordered tires over a week ago, they were supposed to be delivered last Friday. I called for 4 days straight when the merchant notified me that they had been successfully delivered, but every time I called William told me that he hadn t received any deliveries. I called the merchant to see what was going on so they sent me the FedEx delivery receipt that had been signed by William/CarX. I called again and let him know that I know for fact that he had received my tires and suddenly he recalled that he had received them but he didn t know because FedEx dropped them off in his warehouse and put them away without him knowing anything. So, he knew he had my tires and was giving me a hard time because, in his words, "they're aggressive tires" and just didn't want to do his job. Or he just didn t do his job from the start by not even bothering to look for the tires every time I called to check in. When we finally established the tires were there he told me it would be 10 days before he could install them. I explained that if he had been properly doing his job that I could have been on the wait list for nearly a week by this point. He told me that he wasn t going to put them on at all, which is perfectly fine because I do not trust that he knows how to do his job. I picked them up and took them to another Car-X location, I explained the trouble I have had with the Des Plaines location so they called him. He didn t know he was on speaker phone so he proceeded to talk badly about myself and my husband. He said that we were the ones lying and that we had no idea what we were talking about. Diane at corporate was a huge help and was very kind, it seemed to me that I was not the first customer of Williams to call with similar complaints. The Schaumburg location was very nice as well, unfortunately they couldn t do the installation for us today but they sent us to a location that could. I am now going the Elgin location to have them put on today, PJ has been incredibly helpful, understanding, and kind. Car-X is a great company, but William is not a model employee or a positive advocate for that business. I recommend using any other location.Service: Tires

I am delighted to give Mr. William Groberski and his outstanding team at the Car X location at 1108 E. Oakton in Des Plaines, IL another glowing review for repairing my car this past week. They get the highest possible rating from me!I had a rather complicated problem with sensors that affected the check engine sign and caused the alarm bell to go off. William worked tirelessly and I mean tirelessly to correct the problem. He even had his guys drive my car at various speeds to make sure that the sensors and computer system were in sync. He could explain it far better than I can but the most important thing is my car is running again! It is a great feeling and William and his guys made it happen! I can always count on them for excellent service! I wouldn't bring my car anywhere else! I can't say thank you enough!!!

I brought my car in for brakes. William was friendly, helpful and honest. He explained everything in detail and gave me options. He also helped me out with discounts and coupons so I could get the best price. Extremely happy with Car-X. I highly recommend them. My wife will be bringing her car to them as well.

This is the best place I ve found to get all your car repair need done, and done right!!! I ve been with Car X for three years. All my cars have been fixed RIGHT THE FIRST TIME, all the time. Inexpensive and I love it ask for Les or Dan

I took my car here said they would look at it took over two days for the mechanic to look it for five seconds said it wasn't worth fixing and then offered to buy it so I waited for 48 hours for someone to look at it for a a couple minutes to then tell me it's not worth fixing but he would buy it...... Why buy it if it's not worth fixing place is a joke take on to many cars and cut corners like telling me my car wasn't worth fixing that was 2000 miles ago if my car was so horrible I wouldn't have been able to put 2000 more miles on in....... Terrible won't ever go there again ...

Got a free first inspection that I was able to schedule in a very short amount of time with Michael. Great service, friendly staff, and very responsive communication. Great first experience for me working with a mechanic. Would recommend!

It was incredible. I spoke to William a week ago and he explained my tire situation and gave me prices. And I asked him his recommendation and he explained each tire and brand in detail so I could make the right decision for me. He ordered the tires and made an appointment. I talked to him the day b4 bringing my car in and said there were sales and he'd do whst he could and got the price down and was prepared for me when I got there. William said he wouldn't be there the next day but would make sure Michael was aware of my appointment and quotes. Michael was so nice and ready for me and made my whole experience wonderful. I really like this shop. They ve gotten me in same day. They were able to patch my tire. They were honest about cost and their advice was really good about a tire that was iffy. I m grateful to all the positive reviews that led me to CarX and wanted to leave one more. Bring your car here!

Made a trip to O'Hare to pick up my wife and realized my tire was punctured and needed repair somewhere in the area. We first went to Just Tires where they were of absolutely no help. Went next door to Car X and Liam and his crew (Bennie?) helped us with our irreparable tire and friendly service. We were out in under an hour with a new tire for a decent price. Liam (William?) gave us great information regarding our tire and with suggesting a new one. Time was of the essence and we were well taken care of.

Attempted twice to make an appointment on-line. To date, it was never confirmed. When I went to the store there was nowhere to park. As I was going to temporarily park my car out front, I was rudely told not to park there, so I left. Went elsewhere for an oil change. In & out, no waiting, no problems.

Battery light went on on my dash, Friday afternoon. I wanted to act fast in case it was the alternator (which it turned out to be), stopped at two other local shops, totally unhelpful, "come back later", "we can't diagnose now", "we'll be back on Monday and look at it then". Pulled into this place, just before closing and within minutes had it diagnosed, I was presented with a professional estimate (which matched what the repair turned out to be, and at the industry standard rate and included warrantee), a plan to get it done and have me on the road early next day. I added on an oil change, they threw in a special discount (!), and all the while the most polite and respectful customer service. I am really happy to have found this place nearby and will use them for any other service I need. Thank you.Services: Electrical repair, Electrical, Battery, Oil change

My car broke down and after hours Had no idea what was wrong with my car. Jeff and Tony were absolutely amazing. They made sure I understood what was going on and what my options were. They even gave me the time to completely melt down and regroup. These are two people who truly care about not only the job but the people. Great experience, everyone was awesome. I always hate getting my car worked on as a girl who does not know much about cars, however, Tony explained everything to me step by step and was very thorough about what needed to be done. Will definitely be coming back here anytime I need work done on my car.

This review is solely based on my experience.. i visited car x in the summer of 2022 and a manager and technician swore to me that i had a minimum 3 month warranty. I went there for a noise they couldnt find and proceeded with the alignment. I called Nov. 18 2022 and the person who answered the phone told me that and i quote warranty on alignments are 30 days if that and those managers are no longer available at this location . Buyer beware of this business as thats about as shady as it can get. Go somewhere like firestone or just tires which is right next to them for your alignments as they offer 1 year warranties and lifetime for damn near the same amount of money!!Service: Wheel alignment

Just an unexplanatory experience. The. unsatisfactory service was beyond me. It was something totally unexpected from a company I thought so highly of. Customer service was no better regardless of the level of management that I dealt with.I had appointment for 12pm and I didn't leave until 2pm for a nail in the tire the employee fixed the wrong tire as the Manger watch him do it. The employee didn't put all my lug nuts on the car.I WILL NEVER BRING MY CAR BACK HERE AGAIN.

Stopped by after I Got a flat to see if they could plug the tire. They were super friendly and communicate, Tony helped me out, the hole turned out to be a gash but they were great about finding a suitable replacement at a decent cost. Had me out the door in 45 minutes! Would recommend to friends and family forsure.

Nobody likes to deal with sudden car troubles especially when you get two flat tires leaving work on a Friday afternoon, the employees were extremely helpful and efficient when it came to my car needs even through my small melt down. I felt very cared for as a customer as they went above and beyond and can t thank them enough for not allowing my Friday to be totally ruined!Service: Tires

Great experience! Had some car trouble and was able to get back on the road within a few hours. Staff were very friendly, professional, and helpful. The warranties are also very good.Once again, this guys are extremely helpful and caught poor workmanship done by another company. I cannot thank them enough.

Demetri and Tony helped me out after I had a flat tire. They were both incredibly friendly, forthcoming with what they were replacing, and very accommodating. I had an unfortunate situation with the former management and came in with some concerns I had about what had been done to my car. The new manager Jeff was more than helpful and went absolutely above and beyond to make it right. This man is an asset to the company, and I sincerely hope he is compensated accurately.
