I came to pep boys shop on 12/13 to get a new tire on my car. I had done research online and it showed this location had my tire. My appointment was at 9 am, after waiting for 2.5 hrs. the mechanic came to tell me they didn't have my tire in stock. And lied to me by saying he had called me to cancel the appointment. This place has ZERO empathy for the customers time. The employee was rude and wasn't helpful!

From the time I made it into the place I knew it would be a horrible experience. I had an appointment at 9:30. I made it at 9:33 the guy Jeremy ( who seemed to have had an attitude from the start) informed me that since I was late they took someone ahead of me. Which is insane because why have appointments if that s the case. He said I d have to wait an hour which turned into almost a 2 hour wait, I waited because of the drive I took and I need my oil change. After my car was done which is like after 1 I can t do anything I had planned but I needed a car wash. I drove to get one which is right down the street and something dragging under my car. Thank God I wasn t far but I knew they d give me problems. Of course the guy tried to tell me that it was like that before like I wouldn t notice a difference. They finally take the car to the back life it up and drill holes in the part that was falling to put zipties through the whole to secure it. I have a foreign car which requires a special tool to release the label that had fallen so I know for a fact this was sabotaged. While working on the car it s at least3-4 mechanics looking at my car laughing and I have video and pictures. Then there is a cord hanging from the place they did the ghetto fix that I initially told them about and they left it out on purpose. There is no way I come for an oil change and come out with these problems. Also I kept my receipt from my last oil change and I knew they didn t give me my 25% discount list time so I compared the two.$115 - $86 is not a small difference. So idk plan to take this further because clearly these guys are unprofessional and took me as a joke. 100% not satisfied and something will be done! This is unacceptable and from reading the reviews it s kind of surprising they are still open..

I paid for a wheel alignment that was never done. Also they tampered with my oil filter and stuff to cause a leak. I have proof of both and I'm definitely trying to get in touch with their cooperate before I call my lawyer because once I do I'm not settling

I booked my appointment online. They took my car the same day. They finished it early the next day. Easy to check out. Great service.

Did not properly fix my tire. Ruined one of the lug nuts by putting it on wrong, stripping the threads. "Fixed" my tire with that cheap goo that is ONLY for emergencies. Within a few days the tire was leaking air again, FASTER. I took it to Lopez Tires on 25th Street and they showed me exactly where it was leaking AT THE PEP BOY'S "FIXED" HOLE in the tire, and showed me the stripped threads of the lug nut that WASN'T broken until AFTER I took it to Pep Boys. Lopez tires fixed the tire PROPERLY with a patch; they have been at the same location for like 30+ years, they know what they are doing, I should've gone to them first, and they are open later than this Pep Boys! This Pep Boy's location says it's open until 9pm, but that's a lie - it's actually only open until 7pm, and they won't take any cars after 6:01pm. My previous visit, they replaced the front wiper blades (with blades I bought elsewhere) but they didn't take the clips off, so the blades weren't flush to the windshield, & didn't work in the rain; I had to get out of the car in the rain & take the clips off myself; THEN the new blades worked. Either these guys have no experience and are badly trained, or they do it wrong on purpose so you have to come back. Never going back here if I can help it.

I honestly thought that taking my vehicle to an agency like this to do a tune up was going to be professional, but I didn't make my appointment and put what I needed and in the end the cashier only told me what you put in and want, it is not included in the service , and well I give them a for the cost and service, if you have a car and are looking for a tune up there are other better and cheaper options.

These people don't know what they're doing. I had my existing tires swapped to a new set of rims for my 1988 Pontiac Firebird and i kept getting flats because they were leaking from the valve stems and they never changed them even though i had paid for new ones. I had gone in to address the issue and when the tech was taking my wheels off i had informed him that the rims are staggered, 2 rims are front only and 2 rims are rear only because they had different offsets. The tech understood this but when he was done and i was driving off i heard a scrapping noise. I stopped and looked under the car and saw the front driver rim scraping against the tierod, he had placed a rear only rim in the front. I went back into the store to address this new issue and asked what will be done about my damaged rim. The service advisor told me nothing will be done other than offer me a free oil change because my car "is a classic and the rims arent new". Dont take your car here, they damage it and not take responsibility for it.

The manager here has a very nasty attitude I had to keep getting jumps I had my alternator checked and my starter checked I was told it was my battery I went back to pep boys because I have a thirty month warranty. I get there at eight as soon as they open this Mr meany the manager says I have to have an appointment the appointment he gave me was four days away. So in the mean time I'm steady getting jumps so two days before my appointment I called pep boys and spoke with a guy named Jeff he told me to bring my car in as soon as I get it started I made it there and spoke with Jeff I was in and out in fourth five minutes. If ever you go to pep boys in Cicero IL please ask for Jeff he is considerate of your time and gets you in and out he has compassion for people that manager he is so inconsiderate because he knew because I told him I had no other way home and he could have checked my battery and saw it was no good. Thanks Jeff you the man at pep boys

I would give 0 if I could. My appointment was for 5:00 today, I left my car there and was going to wait for a call. At 7:30 there was still nothing so I decided to head to the store, 10 minutes later, I get there and they BARELY started working on changing my tires, 20 minutes till closing. I was the only customer left. He finished in about half an hour. They couldn t even get the tire pressure right and my rims were badly scraped. Besides that Grace was great.

One of my wiper blades literally popped off as it was raining. Fortunately, I was near Pep Boys. As I approached the counter, the first thing that I asked the clerk was if I bought wiper blades could he put them on for me. He said that their blades were pricey, but if I bought some from somewhere else, I could bring them back and they d put them on for me. I appreciated his thoughtfulness, but explained that I had my elderly mother in the car and would be willing to pay more than potentially having an accident. So, he rung me up and came out in the rain to put on my blades. Well, of course one of them wouldn t fit. It took three tries for him to find blades that would fit that one arm (the other went on without issue). Then he made sure that they worked before going back inside. They didn t charge me more for the blade that worked (not to mention the ones that they opened that didn t work), although it was pricier than the one that I purchased. This was stellar customer service! The next time that my vehicle needs tires, a battery or any service that they provide, this Pep Boys will definitely be at the top of my consideration.

Management needs to seriously do their job and come in. Came in and they took an hour to attend me, I was just picking up tires, there is literally no one here.UPDATE: They lost my tires that got delivered here and HAD a signature for. Dont doubt they used it on someone else. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.Worst customer service ever.

I had an absolutely horrible experience here. Alex, the manager was the person helping me. I needed a shock and strut replaced, as well as both my headlights. He order the part for my car that was needed and said it would be in the next day by noon and to just come in. I verified and asked if I should wait for a call or just come in. He told me just to come in, so I did. Sat there for 45 or so minutes before he decided to come up to me and let me know that the guy hasn t even delivered my part yet. I stayed patient and understanding and continued to wait. Over an hour after that, the guy finally arrives with my part. Then a half hour AFTER that he tells me that the part he ordered normally comes with both parts needed (shock and strut) but this did not. That is his job to make sure he s ordering the correct parts. So after sitting there for over 2 hours, he tells me I have to wait another day to get my car. I asked what he could do for me since he didn t care to try and make it right himself. And all I was offered was a 10% senior discount. I had to rent a car and spend even more money because I was not able to prepare or have work covered since my car was originally suppose to be fixed the day before. I come to pick up my car the next day and Alex was already gone, which is fine but he of course didn t make sure to add the discount on and they also never even fixed my headlights. The guy that ended up helping me get my car back was rude and after I told him I was suppose to get a discount, he acted as if I was making it up. So I made him call Alex. This was one of the most stressful and frustrating situations I ve ever had to go through with my car. Will definitely never be coming back here.

I will never do business here again. Scheduled an appt and car wasn t looked at till 2 days later. You gotta keep calling them to get information about your vehicle and the people who answer don t have no info about your car and hang up on you. Had my car for over a week for minor repairs. They also wanted to be paid before doing the service.

My Husband had an exceptional experience with Jeffrey at Pep Boys on S Cicero Ave. He went above and beyond to provide us with the best service & price for our Jeep, even including a coupon!! His friendly demeanor, expertise and genuine care for his customers left a lasting impression.

Very bad service. I waited in line for over 30 minutes just to pick up my car. I was the only one in line. That is beyond expecting a customer to be patient. I didn't even owe anything since the work was covered under warranty. Couldn't leave either since I took an Uber here. It was awful.Update 2/8/2024. We actually got tired of having one of the tires repaired, we ended up replacing the whole thing. And that one is also a very crappy tire. I'm constantly having to put air in it. I'll be taking it to be repaired/replaced later today. But not at Pep Boys. Never Peo Boys. Never again.

I dropped my car off at 11 am on 8/7/23 for a diagnostic test on the battery, alternator, and starter. I attempted to call x4 for an update at 6 pm-- 7 hours later. No one answered the phones. When I walked to the shop and asked for an update from a young man with a name tag, Chiky, he first stated that he had no pending appointments under the make and model of my car. He then looked up service appointments under my name and found my car was brought in for service. I asked how much longer it would be to run a diagnostics test. Chiky told me all the mechanics went home for the day and no one would be able to service the car and the technicians on site were not qualified to run diagnostics. I asked if it was typical to keep a customers car overnight without updating them on a timeline for service. Chiky then stated "your car is here? I had no idea your car was here." I asked for the keys back to my car the moment he admitted they were unaware my car was even on their lot. Chiky did offer to have me come in the next day to speak with the manager for remediation but unless that remediation is to service my car immediately as a priority the moment I bring it in, there's no point and a further waste of my time. Seems to be pretty poor customer service and even worse communication at this location.

I need service done on a vehicle, and I was reminded of when I had my car serviced here about a year ago. I can't remember everything exactly, but I do remember them having me in there for over 3 hours just for a simple break job. I was renting a car from Hertz. After a recent unpleasant experience with another Pep Boys in Homewood (I wrote a detailed review), I have realized how they operate.Basically, they prioritize other people's cars that are paying out of pocket, over the fleet vehicles. They charge the hard working public significantly more than the pre-setup prices setup by their corporate partners. Due to that, it makes me and others renting wait significantly longer for simple things like oil changes. It's a very unprofessional and unethical practice. You should service the cars in the order of their arrival or appointment time. Only reason I 2 instead on 1 star, because they did chop chop when I stayed focused and personally periodically checked up on the progress.I have other complaints, specifically for this location. I remember going in and asking for them to ONLY fix the breaks. There were other issues with the car, but I didn't have all day for everything to be fixed. I was very definitive in that request. The service manager (a young lady) rudely ignored me, and had her mechanic work on all the other issues anyway. I would assume it was to try and squeeze every last dollar from their corporate partners pockets. It was very difficult for me to contain my anger when she told me that. Then after they finally finished, they new brakes were squeaking louder than the previous ones. Also the engine light came back on.Personally, I would suggest NOBODY gets their car serviced at any Pep Boys. They have a long standing reputation of doing people dirty. It's a culture issue that originates & resonates from their top corporate executives. I previously complained to corporate about the Homewood location, and they ignored me as well. Be weary and tread lightly doing any business with this unquality enterprise.

I walked right in and was the only one there at the time. I had a problem with one of my tires losing it's air and me having to put air in it on a weekly basis. The tire was under warranty that I didn't realize I had. They took a look at it and replaced the stem and resealed around the rim. That fixed the problem. I didn't have to come out of pocket for anything.

I came in on a busy Saturday afternoon with a problem with my tire pressure monitor system. The technician was at lunch, so the manager came to the car and diagnosed the problem right away. An hour later I was back on the road!

Originally walked in because there was a power steering leakage and I also added an oil change along with a coolant flush. The entire thing took 5 hours , they charged me for a leak inspection and in the end topped off the power steering oil and apologized for not knowing where the leak was coming from.
