I had a not so nice experience at Pep Boys, I'm from out of town and as I got ready to make the 5 hour drive back home I noticed a that I had flat tire, so I went to them to check it out and I was met with a less than enthusiastic guy at the front desk who told me they're booked today and can not help me! I understand being busy, but it was the way he acted!Anyways, he did refer me to All Day Tire Shop and they were sooooo pleasant and helpful!

I ve come here twice, the first time I made an appointment a couple days out for an oil change and when I showed up they said it would take 3-4 hours. The second time, I called earlier in the day to ask if they had availability for this afternoon. I was told on the phone if I could come at 3 they ll have time. When I showed up at 3pm they said if I didn t have an appointment they wouldn t have time until tomorrow morning. I just wish they d said no earlier in the day so I could have made other arrangements.Just seems to me that they re unorganized and inefficient.

0 stars if I could. Got an oil change here and they cut my alarm wire in my hood, but did not tell me and did not admit to it or explore the situation/their cameras. I made time to come back the next day as recommended by the staff member and it was an absolute insult and waste of time. The manager (Jeremy?) has poor bedside manners and never even contacted me about the situation like he said he would. I probably should have known when he didn't even bother to pull up my account and instead wrote my info down on a scrap piece of paper. He rudely asked me if I was accusing his staff instead of having a professional and good mannered conversation. He didn't even bother asking me about the situation--I dropped my car off and my alarm was working. Picked up my car and the alarm wasn't working + the wire was cut in the hood. I can't imagine what else would have happened...would have rather spent more than $75 at the dealership than experience this. Thankfully my dad is handy or I would have had to spend even MORE time and money getting that fixed when it should have never been a problem in the first place... especially for an oil change!! Maybe they're racist and sexist? I am an extremely understanding and empathetic individual who does not generally leave reviews+ gives people the benefit of the doubt, but this experience was so poor and never remedied. I will never go to a PepBoys again which is sad because I went at least annually for years.

Going out of my way to re-write the below review from last month.DO NOT give these guys your business. And let me tell you why About a month ago, I started losing air in a tire. Pep Boys River West is just down the block from me, so, out of convenience, I booked an appointment to get it checked out. When I arrived, I was greeted by a very sweet and energetic Jeremy who seemed eager to provide excellent service. After a quick inspection, he let me know that I d picked up a nail and that it would be a quick and easy fix because it was right along the tread. About an hour later, Jeremy let me know that my tire was fixed and even said the work would be on the house! I graciously thanked him, and then Jeremy asked if I wouldn t mind leaving a 5-star Google review (to which I gladly agreed). The next day, the tire started to lose air again. A bout with Covid followed by the holidays didn t allow me to make a return appointment for about 2 weeks. When I was finally able to bring my car back, I was received by a very different Jeremy. This Jeremy was rude and seemed annoyed that I was there (even though I had an appointment). He told me it would be 2-3 hours because there were already 4 cars ahead of me (even though I had an appointment). 4 hours later, I finally got a call that my car was ready. Upon returning, someone else (Jeremy was nowhere in sight) presented me with a bill for $25 which I politely refused to pay because this was a fix to a job that wasn t done properly previously . The guy behind the counter asked if anyone had recommended that I get a new tire after coming into for the same repair twice, and when I told him no , he looked confused and told me that this would probably be the next step if I continue to have issues. Sure enough, I hadn t even made it the half mile home before the tire started losing air again. If you re still reading, all of this is to say that the Pep Boys River West team is CLEARLY fishing for 5-star reviews. They offer up phony service in exchange for boosting their ratings. I ve wasted far too much time at this point but wanted to at least share my story in the hopes that I ll save someone else s time in the future. If I could give zero stars, I would. My original, bogus review for reference: Jeremy was amazing! 5 stars for the River West team!

I went to Pep Boys 6667 for winter tire installation. They not only changed the price (I chose this store on Tire Rack only because they said they would only charge $90, but in fact they charged $130) but also kept my summer tires without my permission. When I realized that they did not give me my tires back and called them (it was not even 30 minutes after I left from the store), they told me that a trash person already came to pick up one of the four tires because it was damaged. I did not give them authorization to throw away any of those tires, and it was ridiculous that they assumed that I would not want my old tires back. Do their customers get new summer tires annually??? They took my private property without my authorization and I could not get my tires back!

Went to purchase 4 new tires and an oil change.I was told that when installing the tires, a pressure sensor 'fell off' and had to be replaced (for $100). Whatever.Receive car back, get on highway, tire pressure sensor light comes on and starts flashing.Take car back at 10 AM. Was told they'd take a look at it and call me back by end of day. Never happens. It's 7:15 PM. Their phones are off and I'm guessing my car is still sitting on the street because they don't have a parking lot.

Brought car in for a regular oil change and was charged nearly $100. Whatever we needed it done and I didn t have time to shop around.Upon leaving, my car began making the worst transformer-like noises and chugging when we accelerated (see video). The oil change was Saturday. Sunday, we were supposed to drive to the suburbs for a dinner, but the car wasn t sounding any better / the dashboard began flashing every possible issue (see second video). So we took the car back to the shop around 3 and they said the best they could do would be the following day no apology, no responsibility taken, no prioritization despite the issue being their fault, nothing. So we cancel our plans for Sunday and quickly try to figure out working from home Monday (my partner works in the suburbs while I work from home and obviously couldn t drive to work today without a working car.By Monday midday, we hadn t heard anything via phone, email, or text. At 3:30, I finally called them, and they said it was the next car up again, the issue was their fault and we had dropped it off a full 24 hours before this call, yet they were *just* getting to it then.Had to call again at 6:15 when we didn t hear anything and learned the car just required some recalibration so there were no leaks and was ready for pickup (by close at 7). I quickly rented a divvy to get over there before close.I get there. They give me the keys. And again - no apologies, no discount, no reimbursement, etc. for - as a reminder - an oil change that was DOUBLE the typical price and THREE days spent dealing with this.Absolutely do not go here, no matter how convenient their scheduling portal is. They will charge you more than you should pay, do a shoddy job, and take no responsibility for the problems they inevitably cause, as seen in several other reviews.

I was forced to go here because I got 2 flat tires simultaneously on a Chicago pothole and it was the nearest shop that could get my size Continental tires within 24hrs. When I asked for an out-the-door price so I could compare it with Cassidy and DiscountTire, the manager Jeremy gave me a number over the phone that seemed reasonable, but refused to email a quote for me to review. Ultimately he either forgot to include tax or the mandatory $35/tire road hazard warranty - I m not sure which - so his verbal quote was inaccurate. But that s not the worst part. I also asked them to install new front rotors & pads (for which the parts were already in my trunk). Jeremy gave me another verbal quote which seemed reasonable. But when I went to pick up my car (they notified me via text it was ready) the brakes were not installed. Worse yet they had $227 labor plus $38 extended labor warranty (which was never discussed or quoted) on my invoice for a brake job that was never done. And the staff couldn t remove it or write a new invoice because Jeremy wasn t there! So my only option to get my car back was to pay for the work that wasn t done. Went back the next business day to get a refund - which Jeremy gave me - except he forgot to refund the $38 extended labor warranty. Now I have to go back a 2nd time for to refund something that shouldn t have been on my bill in the first place. On the plus side, it seems they installed my tires & TPMS properly.

After recently getting my oil changed there, my first two attempts were waiting for them to open. They re supposed to be there at eight and some days it s not until after 815 people get there. And then whoever took my appointments, never booked at they rushed me in and rushed me out as fast as possible.

The shop manager was not accommodating and was annoyed that I was asking for service. I arrived at the shop before it opened to be the first in line. When the shop opened there was a total of four employees and 0 cars. Although the employees were just standing around talking when I arrived, the manager refused to give me service at that time without an appointment. So I went to the nearest Firestone Tire shop and they took care of me right away. They allowed me to drop off my flat tire and planned to text me when it is available for pick up. I was in and out in less than 5 mins. Easy peasy lemon squeezie .It would have been nice to receive the same service from Pep Boys, but the shop manager didn't even take the time to ask questions nor investigate my needs. I even thought about leaving my car with them, but I had a really bad feeling about the situation and got out of there as soon as possible. I don't trust this Pep Boys location with my car.

I hit a pot hole while taking my sister to chemo at UIC and was unable to drive my vehicle. Roadside assistance brought my vehicle to this location. They removed (most of) my damaged undercarriage guard and told me one of my tires had a leak, but they couldn't check my rims. They suggested that I buy the new tire to prevent any incidents on the way home. I requested to keep the old, damaged tire. When I took the damaged tire to my original shop, they said it didn't have a leak. So they put it back on my vehicle. But when I tried to return the new tire, no PepBoys location would take it back because I drove home on it. The staff was incredibly kind, but I feel like I got scammed while stuck in an emergency situation.

This place deserves zero stars. Tell me how I have a 830 appt. And the front desk sends the guys to "clean the shop" and they aren't going to get to my oil change for 45min until the shop is clean because the guy who booked my appointment didn't bother to ask if I was planning to wait. Then 20 minutes later..those same guys come walking back with snacks. NOT CLEANING THE SHOP. Then proceed to waste me and my husband's time who came to pick me up to tell me when I was walking out to take my car with me. Don't ignore the 1 star reviews here.

Drove my car in for brake service and was charged twice for the same service. After speaking with the manager Jeremy Hernandez he quoted me other things that could be potentially wrong with the car and wouldn t release it until I got it towed. Buyer beware of the bait and switch.

As a young female had a very wonderful experience here. The customer service was great, they fixed a screeching sound my breaks were making for what seemed like a good deal, took time to explain things, flexible with appointments and overall the young men working there were very honest and kind. Will be coming back (hopefully not soon for car problems tho lol). Love the cleanliness and quotes in the waiting area too :)

THANK YOU Nick & Gabe for your help in such a short amount of time. I m a driver for a well known company and I found that my tire was very low on my bus and I had less than an half hour to get my clients. I called Pep boys and talked with a Nick. Nick told me to come on by even though the store was just about to close. Thumbs up because that's what you call service . I got there in a nich of time and Gabe assisted with lining up my bus because the tail was too large. Nick found the right PSI for my tire and Gabe filled the tire. These good fellas made my day. I was able to get my clients on time. I appreciate and thank these fellas so much. Please Pep Boys, let them know how grateful I am and reward them please. Thank you for having quality members that represent your organization.

I got a flat downtown and couldn't get one of the lugnuts off. Had a torch too to loosen in but it still wouldn't break so had it towed, left the key and a note stating this. The next afternoon, this past Tuesday, i get a call.Guy says it'll be $264 and take 2 hours to get off. I tell him that's a lot of money and time to get off one lugnut. Some ums and ahs and typing noise. He comes back with "i can do it for $170."Now, i had read the reviews of this shop and knew they could do some shady stuff so this was to be expected. So i called around beforehand to different pepboys and garages and got quotes for about $50. The closest pep boys to them was $45.When i told this to the guy, that i could have the car towed and worked on there and save over $100 Jr came back with some more ums and ahs and keyboard clacking and said "i can do it for $60."I agreed, and this told me something. He was so quick to lower it means he already did the work. Which is a huge no no. You give a quote first. Then do the work. This was confirmed by a text from pep boys 20 minutes later that my car was ready to be picked up.What happened to 2 hours?Reason I'm giving two stars instead of one. They did a good job. Now i haven't gotten a new tire yet so don't know if the lugnuts will be hard to deal with. But the spare has stayed on with no issues. But it's situations like this that give mechanics a horrible reputation.Would i trust them with things more important than this, the most basic thing you can do? $%#^ no. But if you have to use them call around and get quotes. It'll save you.

Terrible service!!! Very unprofessional. I purchased four tires and gave the store manager Jeremy, my car make, model, and tire size. He some how recorded all the wrong information. When I arrived to have the tires installed they didn't fit my car. I waited for three hours just to be told I have to come back tomorrow because they didn't have my tire size. I was also told I had to pay more money because the tires needed for my car were more expensive. I paid the difference and arrived the next morning and my tires we still not there. Waited four hours, when I was told the tires would be there in 10mins. I will NEVER to return to this Pep Boys. If you want to be overcharged, treated terribly, and have your time wasted then this is your place. If I could give them 0 stars I would.

Made an appointment online for 5:30, arrived, and was told they do not take appointments after 4 pm. Just needed a patch for a tire and was told they could not help me because they did not have their equipment? The excuse made absolutely no sense. Would highly recommend going somewhere else before resorting this location .

I ve come to this location a couple times and they have taken good care of me and my vehicle. Today service took longer than expected, but Jeremy made sure to offer me half off due to the extended wait. That s solid customer service and what keeps people coming back.

Watch their charges. I was charged, twice, for an extended warranty that I did not want. Caught it the first time, missed it the second time. Apparently getting them to reverse this charge is an ENORMOUS hassle. It has to be done in person with the manager present. When I finally went in person a couple of weeks later I was told to wait 30 minutes, for a charge back. I won't be back ever again.

Making appointments is useless. Extremely slow service, complete disregard on customer service. Plan ahead if u have to come here. If u make an appointment at 3pm eventually you will be seen some time after 4pm. I don't understand the practice of taking multiple appointments for the same time. Even coming early has no effect. Way to much small talk between staff and techs which slows the work down drastically. Honor the appointment time, one to maybe 2 people for per time slot, and cut the talking down would greatly improve service. The time now is 4:30 p.m. and they just took the tires off the vehicle. Mind you this was a 3:00 appointment, I arrived here at 2:30 p.m. And get off the cell phones when workin on a customers car.. This is nuts! It's 5pm and still haven't mounted a tire on a rim!

Only because I can t give zero stars. Car towed there for service a week ago. Called and was told they would call me back. Hours later I called them back. The tech had zero knowledge and was going to connect me with someone who did. 20 minutes on hold before I gave up. I would rather pay to have the car towed anywhere else!! Can t contact anyone there who knows what is wrong or how much it will cost. They might be good for an oil change but their customer service is truly horrendous. DO NOT USE!

I made an appointment online the day of for a quick tire patch and they literally turned me away saying they don t take appointments at the time I made an appointment. With the doors unlocked, people still working, and again- with an appointment. Maybe just don t come here. Like ever.

Pros: location close to public transit and multiple restaurants and coffee shopsCons: what many other reviews have said extremely bad customer service. What I was hoping to find was a shop close to my daughter's school that when I needed work done, I could leave car in the morning and pick up in afternoon based on my experience waiting to get tires at the Pep Boys off Cermak in Cicero. Instead what I got was an extremely condescending Assistant Service Manager, Jose Velez. From our first conversation, Mr. Velez was apparently was annoyed at me asking questions and leaving a quote made a few weeks early by the manager with notes on it. There were no slips in the drop off early/late box to fill out. I had in addition to leaving my personal note filled out an auto form when I made the appointment, but despite that neither quote he provided me actually had an oil change on it and since I was at work and had to inform him what services I would authorize and it was not on either quote it didn't happen, which is a blessing in disguise because why would I want to give them any more of my money.Mr. Velez was rude not only on the phone but also in person. His final words to me were "Was there anything else he could explain to me?" Not do I have any questions. Another zinger was when I was asking about the coupon, which was a mere $50 in the scope of how much I wound up spending and of which I had booked my through Pep Boys text messages to my phone that I could show them the coupon, although there wasn't anything to show due to how Pep Boys set it up and that he would "make it his priority" to give me the discount. This of course was not in earnest but rather his way of letting me know I was too demanding.Shoutout to Jerson G who actually did the work though. I can feel the difference while driving, which is why I am giving this two stars instead of one.Overall, the disrespect from this "manager" left me as infuriated as one could be and affected my mood during the day and even as I write this. Thus, I would rather drive far and be inconvenienced then use this shop ever again.

I came to Pep Boys for a leak in West Town. Jeremy made an appointment and fixed my tire the next day. Cost for to repair the nail with leak is $55. Great locations as well if you need to get coffees or sandwiches.

Thank you Jeremy and Jose for the great service, got me in a new set of tires despite the amount of traffic and customers at their location. So many rude people and they just brush it off and keep grinding. I will definitely be back

Avoid at all costs. I have never witnessed such incompetence anywhere. Brought my car for flat which was irreparable. Bought 4 new tires. I don t know if the techs were hungover or what but I left and immediately got a flat tire (different from the first one). Had to tow my car back 20 miles. Then I had to wait for 3 days to get my car back. Supposedly it was a defective tire. Then car starts shaking over 60 mph. I call to tell them I want them to take a look and they tell me their alignment machine is out for 3 weeks. Seriously? My usual car guys tell me the tires aren t properly weighed and balanced. Literally just paid to get this fixed b/c I have zero desire to ever step foot in Pepboys again. Do not recommend.

In the last 3 years I ve brought my vehicle to this Pep Boys probably 6 or 7 times for all sorts of easy repairs (oil changes, flat tires, tail lights out, etc). It s located close to my home and they always have availability. I don t know if it s because I m a young woman or if I have sucker written on my forehead, but not one of those visits have they not conveniently found a larger, much more expensive issue requiring immediate fixing. I now question their honesty and for that reason, I will be finding another repair shop to give my business to. Writing this review to encourage other young women to proceed with caution.
