It's difficult to find a great mechanic but I believe that I have one. My son had been having problems with his SUV and we took it to E&J. Alex was able to fix all of the issues in a timely manner. He is very honest and knowledgeable.

I trust these guys with my vehicle. They always fix the issues to the highest standards and are reasonable in prices let alone the fact that they work fast.Will never trust my vehicle with another repair shop as they often try and inflate prices and charge for work unperformed, but E&J Auto Service doesn't do that nor has too, their professionalism and work ethics keeps customers coming back and I am glad I found them. Thanks guys, you rock!!!!

Discovered this shop through referral from my sister. Got my tires installed as well as oil changed. Alex was very accommodating and provided excellent service. I will definitely be a returning customer!

I will not take my car to any other auto repair shop. I have been a customer since 2014. I trust E & J because they always do a great job and they do not try to sell me services my car does not need. Their prices are reasonable and they shop is clean. Thank you guys for all you do!!

Alex is a great person to work with. Good, honest mechanics! They always get me in quickly. The prices are great, and the waiting area is really nice and comfy. Honest, efficient and prompt service. Would highly recommend E & J service.

I love this place. They do great work and offer money saving options rather than trying to sell as much as they can. That's what the dealership does. Today I pulled 40 m before closing because our car all of a sudden had no heat. 10m later it was fixed.

This is the local mechanic you can trust. Honest, professional, thorough, solid work with great customer service. Love the digital inspection reports with condition photos that help you prioritize what to address and when. Highly recommended.

Been coming to E & J since the 1970s...started with owner Jack Losch, continued with his son, John, after Jack retired, and am now with new owner Alex. They have always provided honest, ethical service...they're not always the cheapest, but they offer unparalleled warranties and flexible financing options...highly recommended

E&J currently services three vehicles for me and I will be adding a fourth. Each vehicle is at least 10 years old so things can come up unexpectantly but Alex and crew have handled all repairs and services without any issues.The work is great and the prices are reasonable. They were able to repair my charcoal canister and re-orient some heat shielding to avoid future issues. A bit pricey but they were open and did fast/good work. Passed my emissions test shortly after

My husband and I have been taking our vehicles to this business for many years. Since they were on Addison and Long, then to Irving Park and Mango. We know ownership has changed due to tragic circumstances, but the quality and honesty they provide haven't. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend E&J. They made the whole process much better than I expected. I was impressed with their transparency and most importantly(for me) they are LGBT friendly, very welcoming.

Great experience and wonderful people! Brakes were grinding, they did a super job brakes / rotors. Rides great! 1st time customer experience ... fantastic! Will be coming back with any other problems on my car and I have already recommended them to family. Thanks!

Awesome experience in this shop, i was desesperated for get my car fix and the dealer was completely book at the time. I only owe 1 car and to be able to get a rental the car have to be on the shop for more than 2 days. It was so crazy for me. I call them and they take my car right away I took it late that's way he told me he can have it ready for next day. Omg he was really kind he offered an Uber to get back home. I am really thankful and this will be my shop for now on. Thank you so much for your help!!!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Very bad service. Alex has a bad and horrible attitude. My grandma took her Honda in to check on a noise that she was hearing in her car. Alex spent the whole day just taking her car on a test drive. Oscar Wasted our gas just driving our car around portage park. I went in several times to get an update on her car but it seemed that Oscar and Alex were getting mad every time I went. Alex and Oscar had a very bad attitude every time i went in to get an update. Very ghetto and unprofessional. After all of this he then Oscar to drive around with my grandma once again this was pointless. Oscar admitted to my grandma that they drove her car all day to test drive it and said no noise was found. They should have lifted the car up and checked to see what the issue was.AFTER ALL OF THIS Alex has the audacity to call my grandma and argue with her claiming he knows what the issue is!! Im all Like bro if you know what the issue is then why waste her day. Absolutely pitiful to this to a senior. I will be contacting the business department of Illinois to place a claim and report on this unprofessional business.Service: Steering & suspension replacement

Alex and his team always do a wonderful job. This visit was pretty routine, just an oil change and inspection, but they always do a very thorough inspection and make honest recommendations. This time we did need to replace a headlight assembly that was causing misalignment of one of the headlights. E & J did that quickly and had us back one the road on our fairly tight schedule. Always make an appointment, even for an oil change. These guys are very good so they're usually very busy, but they're worth the wait.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Vehicle Inspection, Auto maintenance, Oil change

E & J Auto and Alex are awesome. He really helped me out when my dealer s service center totally screwed up a routine oil change and 24 hrs later I had oil running out from under the car. Alex looked at it late in the afternoon and made a temporary fix so I could use my car that evening, then he replaced the oil pan the very next day. Such unbelievable and excellent service! I can t say thank you enough. And, let me mention that up until now, I was not a customer of E&J but yet I still received this type of service. Alex is my new go-to mechanic from now on! So good to have such an honest, competent and caring auto repair shop in the neighborhood. Five stars!Service: Engine repair

I honestly can't believe I had to leave work early or the following next day go into work late, because they needed me to drive my car around with Oscar to diagnose the issue when they had all morning and afternoon to diagnose the problem. I'm driving with Oscar he tells me he didn't do any inspections he did go under the car. Ridiculous .I made appt on Friday for Monday another waste of time when they honestly don't have that many cars. Just a big waste of time. biggest joke after not wanting this to be costly mistake and not wasting any more time at this place Alex calls me and says I KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. No thanks..don't believe 4.9 reviews

E & J was great. Had a major concern about the car and they figured the problem out with paying a fortune. Alex was great and explained everything in detail and answered every question I had. E & J is my place from now on.

Simply the best auto repair shop. They are honest, competent, and professional. In April 2022, my elderly father's 2006 Honda Civic needed a new engine. After explaining the options, Alex s team installed a recycled engine with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. The price was fair and, as I live out of town, they delivered the repaired vehicle to my father s Portage Park home. Later in the year, we had E&J replace the brakes. And, just recently, when the car wouldn t start, they replaced the starter and battery. Each time, we received quality, timely and friendly service, at a fair price, along with thorough explanations. Thank you for providing a repair shop we can trust with exceptional customer service. We will not take our cars anywhere else.Services: Engine repair, Brakes, Battery

Having just had a disaster of an experience with a Mechanic Who Shall Not Be Named, E&J absolutely made my month. They're super friendly, straightforward, and won't upsell, overcharge, or fast-talk you. (Looking at you, MWSNBN.) My car was in and out in a day despite a whole lot of stuff that needed doing, and Alex helped me determine what was urgent vs. what I could wait on, so that I could keep my wallet from combusting. Nice to know that E&J continues to give excellent service even though John is no longer with them. Been coming there since the '80s and always satisfied. In all those years I have never had to return because something was not done or needed more work. That is unusual these days.
