Came here after the OBD system wouldn't register for the emissions test. A diagnostic was performed by Chicago Auto Repair and found no issue. After I talked to Jim he blamed the emissions test people that I had gone to just an hour before. I informed him that I think they need to do a more thorough investigation. My concerns were dismissed and I was charged for the diagnostic evaluation. I then took the car back. As expected the emissions test continued to fail. I was then informed by Jim that they can do an official diagnostic evaluation of my wiring for an additional cost, even though they had already done a diagnostic and would charge me per hour. I refused to come back to Chicago Auto Repair after they already scammed me out of a $110. The next Auto repair shop looked at the wiring for free and had found that Jim's team left behind a zip tie around my wiring from a previous issue 3 months prior. This place does not listen to the customer and dismissed me multiple times when I had asked if the problem could be related to the prior repair. PLEASE DO NOT come here. It seems affordable and the people seem nice, but they dismiss you and create more problems from their poorly trained staff

Five stars all the way! I brought my car in for some major repairs, and the team at Chicago Auto Repair exceeded all my expectations. They were transparent about the costs, explained everything in detail, and completed the work ahead of schedule. My car runs better than it has in years, and I couldn't be happier with the service. Highly recommend them to anyone in need of reliable and honest auto repairs

I recently had my oil changed at Chicago Auto and I m incredibly satisfied with the service I received. The staff was friendly, efficient, and professional. They completed the oil change in a timely manner and also conducted a thorough inspection of my vehicle, which gave me peace of mind knowing that my car was in good hands. The waiting area was clean and comfortable, making the experience even more pleasant. I highly recommend Jim and Chicago Auto for anyone in need of quality oil change services.

Chicago Auto Repair is the best repair shop I've ever used. Hands down. No second thoughts. They are the best.I first brought my car to Chicago Auto Repair a few years ago. I think I first went in for brakes. After that, I knew I'd be back the next time I needed something fixed. The service was great. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I was truly impressed by my experience.Now, a few years after my first visit, I can say with confidence that I am still thoroughly impressed by these guys. Not only have I had some more work done on my car, but I've also had my wife's car serviced. On top of that, I told all my coworkers to to try this shop (I work down the street) and they were always completely satisfied as well. Between my car, my wife's car and my friends' cars, Chicago Auto Repair has fixed brakes, replaced catalytic converters, fixed clutches, repaired tires, changed oil, worked on steering systems, and on and on. Oh yeah, I should mention that their prices are fair, very fair. I'd even go so far as to say they are great. I know of several instances where people have taken their cars to other shops and have returned to this shop to have their repairs done for far less. I am one of those people.To finish up this review I'd like to say that if your dad or brother (or sister) is a mechanic, or if you're super satisfied with your guy...good for you...BUT if you have any doubts about your mechanic you really should try this place. You'd be foolish not to. You will be greeted with honesty, confidence, good prices and very skilled service. Like I said, these guys are the best.

I recently visited this mechanic shop in Chicago and was impressed by their exceptional service. As a woman, finding a trustworthy and respectful car repair service can sometimes be a challenge, but the team here made me feel completely at ease. They were incredibly patient in explaining the issues with my car, and I appreciated their transparency and honesty.The mechanics were highly knowledgeable and skilled, quickly diagnosing the problem and efficiently fixing it. The prices were very reasonable, and they didn't try to upsell unnecessary services, which I've experienced elsewhere.The customer service was top-notch too. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and went above and beyond to ensure I had a pleasant experience. The waiting area was clean and cute, making my short wait quite enjoyable.Will definitely be returning for any future car needs. As a first-time customer at this mechanic shop, I was a bit apprehensive, but the friendly staff and expert mechanics made me feel completely at ease. They diagnosed the problem quickly, offered a fair price, and got me back on the road in no time. It's hard to find trustworthy auto services, but I'm glad I found this gem in Chicago. Will definitely be coming back for any future car needs

I felt very comfortable walking in here which is rare entering repair shops. It was very clean and chic. I had previously gone to the Mercedes dealership and they were going to charge me an arm and leg. As a female I always get worried going to fix my car because I m not always sure mechanics are being honest with me. When I came here Jimmy was very honest and charged me $1200 less that my initial quote .Thank you Jimmy I ll definitely be back soon. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

They do solid work. I have not had to go back about their work. Last week, they changed the water pump on my jeep in one day. Awesome service, awesome people. I Highly recommend this shop and it's crew. I won't take my cars anywhere else. The guys saved the day for me when my car broke down unexpectedly. Not only did they quickly diagnose and fix the problem, but they also provided excellent communication throughout the entire process. I'm grateful for their professionalism and expertise.

Where do I start.Initially things were positive, got towed here to get a mechanical issue repaired. During that they noted there was a leaking valve that needed to be repaired.I came back a few months later to get that repaired and all the problems started there. This repair caused more issues. The moment I left the site the car was making sounds it wasn't normally making. This sound was from a coolant leak that they caused and other damages they caused but didn't note. This noise was non-existent before the repair and was present immediately after.Fast forward a few months, I come in to get this repaired as there was no heat to the cabin of the car during the subzero days in Chicago, they charged over 1k for the repairs, for issues they caused.Then within 3 weeks of the repair, the coolant was already drained again, clearly a leak that they didn't fix after saying their repairs should have fixed the issues...Clearly they didn't fix the issue and are only causing more issues to get you trapped in an endless repair loop. Already over 2k on repairs, I would avoid at all costs.

Recently took my car to get fixed after an alignment issue. Jim really took care of the problem and was very accommodating.They took care of my vehicles issue which was to replace the CV axle and to get an alignment.They took care of it very fast!And they did an awesome job!! Really good turnaround time.Really fair pricing.Great customer service!Definitely recommend!

Had my car serviced here twice so far! Happy both times. Clean, cute spot Staff members are very informative, helpful, and polite Estimate and approval process is streamlined by tech, with at-a-glance views and more details/photos accessible by clicking through Reasonable pricing & they re not pushy They get the work done pretty fast, and as far as I can tell, done right! Horrible service and bad business practices. We are going to report this to the business bureau as well. We brought our car for a tune up and to replace break pads. We picked up the car with a big surprise, check engine light was on. Car did not have a check engine light on when I brought it to the shop. They asked us to bring it back. A day later, they called again saying that they can not fix the car and we should take it to the dealership. They didn t fix the car and now they returned it in worst condition. Don t recommend this place at all.

Chicago Auto Repair is the absolute best. I've taken my car to this place a few times now and is always incredibly thorough and helpful when I need a repair. I should have posted this awhile ago. I was recently just thinking of what happened and wanted to warn other people so they don t get scammed. I think it s important to protect the community and warn them about predatory actions. Last year around Christmas time I took my van in for a routine checkup and to get a belt replaced. They consequently texted me a video of my van lifted up them wiggling my tire around and telling me I needed new front end suspension immediately. They were asking me for $1600 and told me it was not safe to drive and I had to respond immediately to let them know or they were closing for Christmas. It seemed so fishy to me that a mechanic would text me a video and try a hard pressure sale like that so boldly but they had good reviews so I almost went with it. They knew I was driving home for Christmas to Michigan soon and I feared they were taking advantage of that and trying to scare me by making me feel pressured to do it. Thankfully I did not tell them to do it. I drove my van back to Michigan and let my trusted mechanic check it out. He gave the car a whole look over said everything was actually looking good and took care of everything for a couple hundred bucks. I would stay away from these guys. Updated 10/29: yes this happened at Chicago auto repair on Chicago Ave. I can provide details of the video I was sent if necessary to whomever. The video speaks for itself.

Great service, quick and fairly priced. Drove up without an appointment at 10 am. Was told 5 cars were in front of me, which was fine as I was going out of town and had no need for a quick turnaround. Needed help with a misfire after I d tried 3 rounds of repairs myself. Was texted the diagnosis and estimated repair, approved, and was notified it was ready by 2 pm same day. Phenomenal service
