Ed and David are awesome! Got my car back cleaner than when I dropped ot off and running better than new. Why get robbed at the dealership when you can trust these guys? I work hard for my money these guys work harder!

Five stars for Eddie and the rest of the guys at New Star Transmission. We called around a couple places first and Eddie quoted us the best price. The fact that he is right down the block from us didn't hurt. He offered a free tow to the garage, and called us when he (personally) was on the way with the tow truck, so we didn't have to wait around with the car.Our transmission was shot and needed to be rebuilt. They rebuilt the transmission with lots of new parts, as well as installed a new filler neck (mine was leaky), for hundreds of dollars less than the next estimate. The work was done very quickly. Even though I told Eddie to just go ahead and replace what needed to be replaced, he still called me to check before they replaced a part, even if it was only $15. Definitely above and beyond service.I wish I could rate New Star 6 stars. I'm happy to know that I've got a reliable, trustworthy mechanic right in my neighborhood, though hopefully I don't need to see them again soon!!

I had a couple of significant repairs on my 1978 Benz 450SL.� Eddie was very thorough explaining to me the repairs necessary and even drew pictures so I� can understand. He is very knowledgeable about the work done to the car.� I� am glad I went to him because I� got a lot more satisfaction from New Star� Transmission than even the Mercedes Benz dealer.� Not only will I keep going back there but will definitely recommend Eddie and the shop to my friends.

I took my 06 Chevy impala because my transmission stop working. They towed my car at no charge and gave me a ride home. They rebuilt me transmission in two days, picked me up from home and gave me car running in excellent condition. The customer service was great and the technicians are very nice and helpful. I've must of asked them like 50 questions since I know nothing about cars. I heard about New Star from my Brother which had his transmission done there 6yrs ago and its still running with no problem.

Was told that the worst damage $ wise to fix my transmission would be $900 plus tax. Left my truck on Friday and received a call the next Monday that it would cost an additional $800 for a total of $1700 plus tax. Did the repair anyways since I had been without my truck for 3 days. Got my truck back and now had the check engine light on. It had a misfire from a damaged O2 sensor wire, brought it to there attention but they acted like it wasn't there fault. Took the truck back because the transmission still wasn't working correctly. It had between 1/4 and 1/2 a tank of gas but I still was called to go full the tank more. I asked if they could just add some so that I wouldn't have to make the trip back up north, they said no and they would check the issue until I did so. I then asked if I can get a partial refund since they were being so rude. The guy said I could go get my truck but they weren't giving me any money back. I told him what about the $ I'm wasting on gas to go back and for your shop to get my transmission done correctly. I was told that's your problem not ours. I still went to put in more gas, they finally got it done. Well the transmission at least, I had to fix the misfire myself. Very poor customer service and just put service in general. It took altogether 2 whole weeks to get my transmission fixed. Will never go back or recommend!!!

Do not go Herethis People is friendly untill you live your car.One day I came to ask, to see how much it would cost to fix my Jeep Liberty 2003the motor has gone out. the mechanic named Abraham told me it will be $1800.to rebuild the Engine. I agree and Paid $900 in Cash the day I dropped off.The next Day he called me and said that he gave me the wrong price that it will be$3200 i said NO . I could get it done for less somewhere else.Then he said if I don't do it I will loose the $900 I paid at front . then I agree thinking is better not to Argue ( They may Do a Good Job )The Result when the Car was Fixed is smelled like burned oil . I ask why they said it will go away 1 month later still smells. I brought it back they took it in .few days later they called me I went to go get it , still the same.later they said Abraham was fired and they did not want to take responsibility.They are RatsThey will take your money.

Eddie and his staff are amazing!! Unfortunately my transmission went out, after calling around a few places for prices I was impressed how professional and courteous Eddie was over the phone. He personally towed my truck to his shop and keep me in the loop with the status and diagnosis of my vehicle. This man is knowledgeable, friendly, and customer service oriented. Thanks guys!!!

The worst place out there. Took my car in to get my engine overhauled. They quoted me $1500. Dropped it off. One week later they called me and wanted $2100. I told them they were crazy and I was going to pick up my car. They claimed it was taken apart I told them put it back together. I agreed on $1900 to get this done. I picked up my car then the check engine light turned on. I had it checked by a real mechanic. He told me the engine was simply replaced with a used engine from the junkyard, and they simply painted it and passed it off as a rebuilt. The engine was leaking oil, Then another shop checked it and found the block was passing antifreeze to the oil. Bad head gaskets. I insisted on a refund. They insisted I drop the car off again. How stupid do they think I am? I reported them to the Better Business Bureau, and the City of Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection. I am waiting for my forms to officially file my complaint. The business had a smug attitude when I complained, like if they didn't care. Please people DON'T GO THERE!!! I can't express how much I regret going there before reading the negative reviews here.

I cannot say enough GREAT things about this place. It's very difficult to find an honest mechanic that you can trust - Both Eddie and David are fantastic and have NEVER done me wrong. They always have the best prices and have gotten the job done SUPER quick!I send all of my friends to them - you will be satisfied, I promise! They do far more than just transmissions, too.

Am grateful for New Star Transmission for great service in fixing my transmission. My Car runs like new again. Original estimate went up alittle but I know that everything cost more now these days. I still highly recommend them to all my friends.

do not and I cannot stress this enough go to this place. my transmission needed to be rebuilt, so I shopped around, and this establishment gave me a good price of 1200 with a down payment of 600, I was so happy, because I was basically broke and I had to sell my other car to even pay for this. I told this to the guy that worked there and he was like don't worry it'll be 1200 or it may be less. so two days later I get a call saying now the price is 2100. the guy says it will be additional 900 for the two new parts they needed, I looked up the two parts and they only cost like 100-200 each, so I'm like can I just buy the parts and bring it in, because it's cheaper for me that way, and he said no you cannot. I'm like but you said 1200! and he was like why are you getting an attitude, you weren't behaving this way when I last saw you, and I'm like are serious I'm gonna be happy about having to pay more when I'm basically broke?! so I said just give me my car back and he was like you'll lose your down payment of 600 if we do. so I let them do it, so far my car is driving fine, and haven't experienced any problems yet. so they may be good at fixing cars, but their not good at business, because they rip you off to make a profit. unless you don't mind spending a lot of money and being cheated, I wouldn't recommend going here.

It was worst I had my Transmission so call rebuilt went to pick my car up that next week it went out again towed it back up there with my own money no refund for towed it so they can go back in to my trans to fix the problem I shouldn't have went back if the problem was fix the first time. so now it haven't been 4months and my car is down transmission so now i have to take legal action now because they not going to try to fix my car bad customers service I don't have money to waste like that I trusted this shop..

Great service, friendly and straight to business. I was able to drop off my car for service and he dropped it off at work that same day. He then Uber back tot he shop. That is what I call service. DAVID does a great job.

They scammed me out of as much money as they possibly could. These types of car places deserved to be closed down. The problems they cause took several years off of the lifespan of my vehicle. I strongly recommend you do NOT give this shop your business!!

The worst place out there! Thiefs and liars. They tell you one price over the phone, and when you get there they give you a whole different price. They couldnt even back up their lies. To tell you that my friend even brought the police in there and once they left and we stepped out, they locked the door behind us.They wouldnt let them get their car out of there and they kept parts of their transmission.

David was Great and took care of Gabba s car( Gabriella Garcia s)He recommended some other repairs that were critical to the vehicle operating safely on the road I have to say I am very pleased with the service and the communication with the shop and have a lot of respect for the way they do business I highly recommend this shop for quality of work and fair prices on labor.

I came in and knew nothing about transmission or what was happening. My trans is the sealed ones just my luck. Eddie was so helpful and quick to help me. Recommend this place

Paid 3500 for a dual over headcam vtech and got a single none vtech motor. It's been about 3 months or more and still waiting for it.

I got taken to the cleaners, they charge me $3500 to rebuild the engine on my 04 Mazda 6 worst mistake that I made in my life this people will lie to you they will tell you a bunch of lies they will rip you off,they don't know how to work on cars, I end up junking the car after six months because they refuse to fix right, you want to throw your money away this is the right place.
