I drove into Chicago as part of a road trip and had my maintenance light come on recently. Not wanting to make the return ~700 mile trip without taking care of it, I brought it over to Alba right at 0800, and had my vehicle back after the oil change and some additional maintenance before 10 AM. It was a huge relief to have my vehicle taken care of in such an expedient and professional manner -- thank you!

The positive reviews I saw were spot on. Jimmy really is great - honest, knowledgeable, friendly, and very fairly priced. He was able to perform a bent steel rim/wheel repair and tire replacement in under an hour on a Saturday, when others estimated full rim replacement and a turnaround of days. It was very impressive.

I recently took my car to Alba Auto Service (4 / 17 / 23) for maintenance and repairs (brakes and wiring) on the recommendation of a co-worker. Anyway, this may sound a little hokey. But it was probably one of the best auto repair experiences I have ever had. (since no one really enjoys going to the auto mechanic). The owner (& mechanic) Jimmy was a pleasure to work with. He kept me appraised of what repairs needed to be done to the car. Coupled with what I thought was very fair pricing (for quality work that was completed in a very timely manner) I would highly recommend taking your car to Alba Auto Service.Service: Brakes

Jimmy is great - very knowledgeable and honest. Brought an exhaust leak to him, had it diagnosed in 15 minutes. OEM parts replacement was more than the car is worth. Instead he recommended a shop that could repair the existing. Thanks again Jimmy.

We recently moved from out of state. My partner brought our car in for an emissions inspection and oil change. Jimmy didn't explain that his shop couldn't do an emissions inspection, but instead did an overall "inspection" of the vehicle. We were also upcharged $40 for synthetic oil even though we were never notified about this. I'm sure Jimmy does great work, but be advised you must be very clear about what you're asking for. He's not going to "read your mind," but make assumptions about what you're asking for and charge you accordingly.

This place is great but it sure doesn't look like it would be. They are honest people that will do a great job at some of the best prices I have seen. I am a mechanic and take my car here for jobs that I just don't want to do after working on other equipment all week. I had them do a water pump and timing belt on a Camry I brought them the parts and they charged me $250 labor! Never let any shop sell you auto parts

Muhammed was very cool. They installed my battery for me for a very good price and fixed my windshield wiper blaade issue for free! Helped me out truly. Not from here and was a god send. Thanks guys. Also all the guys thier a certified in mechanics as well. Not like jiffylube with teenagers working thier. Highly recommend

I just moved into the area and went to Alba based on their reviews. My experience was outstanding! The owner Jimmy is an honest down to earth guy who wanted to just do a good solid repair of my van. He encountered some difficulties and instead of a quick patch, he worked thru the problem, spending more hours than originally quoted. I was expecting a big bill, and I would've understood, but instead he charged me for the original estimated hours. I told him he has a new regular customer!

Very straightforward and trustworthy mechanic. One of the services I got done unexpectedly ended up requiring more parts and labor to complete. (The dealership confirmed this, despite THEM missing it when they originally recommended the service). Jimmy called me and explained the situation before proceeding. He then still honored the original estimate, only adding on the cost of the additional parts despite it requiring twice the labor. Will definitely be back for future services.Service: General repairs & maintenance

picked Alba based on reviews and soo happy I started coming here. Jimmy is not the shady mechanic taking advantage type. he works w my goals and budget for my older car and is super honest about what I should do or don't necessarily need to do. will keep coming for my current oldie, and will continue when I get a new one

I've been here several times. I started going here after getting a strong recommendation from a friend. Jimmy, the owner, has always performed top notch service, has been very fast (usually same day), and been extremely friendly.I much prefer the Jimmy's over a dealership because of the price, speed and service. He has even given myself and my wife complimentary rides home on two occasions.

Our first day in Chicago moving into the apartment was met with a dead battery. Our insurance company recommended Jimmy at Alba. Not only did Jimmy get the car running and offer the cheaper option of not replacing the battery but when I asked him about two other issues with the Jeep he was able to fix them when no one else could figure it out. He's honest and talented!

I started bringing my car here about 6 months ago at the emphatic recommendation of a colleague, for a belt issue, broken AC, and later an oil change. Initially I felt welcomed and respected and that I was receiving honest and fair service. After 3 months the AC ceased working again. I brought my car in to speak to the owner, Jimmy, in person, and he berated and belittled me about him not having any obligation to stand by his work, and that I should have known that the current temperature is too low to test the AC again, so there's nothing he can do. I've been to many mechanics, never have I been yelled at in a rude, defensive manner. Take your business elsewhere.

I bought the $25 oil change package off the website, then called to schedule and Jimmy told me to come right in. I was in and out in under 20 minutes, and Jimmy took the time (while the oil was draining) to inspect under my car and take care of a few minor problems without any extra charge. The service here can't be beat and the prices are better than many of the big chain places!

My battery died right outside their shop. Convenient, right? Well. He wanted to charge me $25 for a jump. But refused my payment (I had no cash); I had my credit card and he refused to do it because I had no cash and would charge me $30 instead. When I showed my shock at the 20% surcharge for using a credit card he grew very angry and walked away. I said I would do a couple of dollars over, but didn t think it fair to pay a 20% surcharge for paying with a debit card. When I asked him to check my battery he said it was $75 just to test it. I blurted our tat auto zone would do it for a lot less or even free (bad move on my part) well, that did it for him. He walked away from me, told me he wouldn t jump my car, even after I agreed to pay his surcharge, and shut the door of his garage on me. Classy.

My experience with Jimmy and his shop was amazing. The pricing is very fair and honest! That's hard to come by! I would highly recommend Jimmy to anyone who needs auto servicing!

From many services in the city of Chicago I found Alba Auto to be absolutely THE BEST, honest and reliable!!!! I'm servicing my Mercedes CLK 320 there for like more then 3 years there and there is nothing they can't do - They also helped me with convertible roof top when Loeber Motors had problems to do the same job! Highly Recommended!
