Great experience. Very knowledgeable, precise with diagnosis. Check engine light came back on a few miles after picking the vehicle up. Took it back, they called the manager/mechanic (Bobby) he came back up and addressed the problem after hours. Great service, beyond pleased with this shop. Highly recommend the Neil Street location!

I've got a few stories about Car-X but I'll keep it brief with one. The long and short of it is that they are, like many mechanics, fully capable of lying to a client if they think they can get away with doing extra work. While the guys in the shop all seem very nice and competent, I believe the manager is particularly money-focused to an extent that overshadows the client's interests.The most telling incident was when we took our vehicle there to have a new set of pads put on and we were too busy until the weekend to do it ourselves. My wife went in and dropped it off, then later they called and said the car would require all four pads and rotors replaced. None of the rotors had any tracks in them, interior or exterior, so I felt it was odd on a 70k mile car to wear through all 4 rotors, especially the rear, with no carve-out. I decide we should just pick up the car while we decide and that the inspection/quote was good for a few days. We were instructed that we'd need to pay for an inspection fee if we didn't go through with the repair, so when we got there I inspected the car in their lot using a micrometer which isn't the best method, but it was the exact thickness of a new one and there's no wobbling on stops from any tire. The manager was arguing about no exceptions for the bogus inspection fee, so we paid although we probably shouldn't have and took the car. On the inspection report they didn't fill out the portions relating to the actual measurements of the rotors, they just marked them as red obviously because it would be easy to tell they were lying if they put a value that was within spec or an incorrect value. Later while replacing the front pads (not rotors) myself I did a closer inspection of the rear and the pads still had half their life left, so they were wrong about 6 out of 8 parts. What a friggin joke.All in all just a big waste of time or money for everyone involved except the greedy manager, stay clear. Trust me, if they're willing to lie about brake rotors they're willing to lie about what they're putting in/on your car.

Chad and his team were fantastic! I had valve stem leaks on 2 of my tires which were causing them to go flat. They were able to work me in while being short staffed and took great care of my vehicle. My lugnuts were also swollen (a known Ford issue) which gave them some trouble, but in the end it all worked out. I won't hesitate to visit Chad and his team again.Bonus-Bathroom was clean and I was able to get work done while I waited in their lobby area.

-This happened at the Bradley Ave location- I was in months ago, but I was just thinking about how helpful the staff here was and it brought me to leave a review. My car's battery was dying after work one day and I stepped in to get it replaced. My vehicle was put in immediately despite the fact that the shop closed soon. The wonderful manager woman was so helpful to me and the other customer who was there at the time. I wish I remembered her name, Christina maybe? I was shown and educated about the issue with my vehicle and even though they didn't have a compatible battery is house they called auto zone and had one delivered for me within an hour. The tech could have easily tried to get me to agree to work on my alternator but never mentioned it. I witnessed the other woman customer who was there with me get very upset about the cost of her tires, as she was a single mother who didn't quite have the money. The manager woman consoled her and personally helped her sign up for a payment plan on her phone. The tech even came outside to play and laugh with her children. Great experience overall. The employees here feel like real people.Services: Electrical repair, Auto battery replacement

Good place to change oil and rotate tires. Changed break pads as well. Things went well, and they were quick compared to other smaller size mechanics around the area.

Kudos to the manager on duty Thursday, January 25,2024 at 5 PM at S. Neil st (Hwy 45).I stopped in for directions back to I57 South; having missed my intersection from I 74 to I57 south. I was totally lost and stressed; and he very calmly explained the most direct way, easiest!!! I really appreciated him!

Finally found my go-to auto shop in town. We've brought both our cars here and had good experiences. Found them to be honest, straightforward, and very reasonable. No shady business here - they do a good job and are trustworthy

I cannot say enough how wonderful my experience was here.I had a bad experience at another shop in town missing a leak in my tire earlier in the day. I knew I needed a second opinion, and made an appointment at Car-X later that day.Every interaction I had with each employee was positive. They were polite, professional, and kind.I want to especially call out Riley, who was handling the front desk. I observed him with several customers, and he was so genuinely friendly with everyone.Not only did Car-X fix my leaky tire (and found an inch long nail that the other place somehow missed), but they really turned my bad day around.10/10. My car had VERY LOUD road noise and one tire that continuously lost air. I made an appointment and even though I had to wait quite a while (one store unfortunately was unable to open that day and they had to take several of that stores appointments)., they explained everything and gave me pricing and did an outstanding job! I'm very happy with the service that the mechanics did here. I came in asking for new brake pads as it had been awhile since they were replaced. After they examined the car, they told me that the pads were like new and didn't need replacing. They examined the car for free and there was no obligation to purchase anything. I also had new tires put on the car here too with an alignment. All said in done, the service was at a fair price and didn't take long. The guy manning the front desk at the time worked quickly and was very polite. Overall from what I can tell, this is an honest mechanics shop, looking out for their customers, with great service.Services: Tires, Brakes

First appointment I made, I walked in on time only to be told their alignment machine was broken. So I made a 2nd appointment for when they said it would be fixed. I then drop off my car for the 2nd appointment and proceed to wait all day wondering why a simple alignment was taking so long. I call them after them having my car for over 7 hours only for the person on the phone to say they haven't even looked at it yet. I then get an phone call back about an hour later quoting me $1000+ in fixes and made up issues. I denied their services and took my business to Clay Dooley where they were able to diagnose my issue accurately and charge me less than half of what Car X quoted me. Also they were done with the entire process in less than 4 hours.

If I could rate 0 stars, I would. Absolutely terrible. First, they took 11 hours to mount my new tires and do an alignment. Second, when we picked up the truck, they had mounted them backwards. So we had to bring it in the next day to get that fixed, which took another 3 hours. Now my truck swims all over the road, I'm more than disappointed with my service. I want my money back and I will never go here again. Tire Rack needs to offer more than this joke of a place for tires to be delivered to. After spending $1,600 on brand new tires and an alignment, my truck should be driving beautifully, and it's far from that.UPDATE: Customer service was very helpful and I will be getting a refund for the alignment.***Side note: We asked if their lift was big enough to do the alignment on our very large truck and they said they weren't sure but they would try, this could have been avoided if they stated they didn't have the equipment and I could have taken the truck elsewhere for the alignment. These guys are great!! Came in with a bolt backing out of our lift, and they pulled her in the shop....fixed it,and didn't charge me a dime!!! Would do buisness there any day of the week!!

I was in shock, took off the wheel, set the jack, refused to put the removed wheel, I think it is necessary to replace the whole brigade to replace the wheels and the manager, at the moment there is not a single cartoonist, and they do not want to work

I had a low pressure tire and went in for a check. They checked immediately and came back to me with one nail. After another 20 minutes when I asked for an update they said they found another nail and said they are patching up and should be ready in 20-30 minutes. After another long wait the manager calls and says I need a new tire due to state law and instead of showing me the holes on my tire they used a prop to show and I was not clear but since I wanted to rush for an appointment I paid and got it replaced. Long story short - they should show me the tire and explain as they do at Costco and Pep boys.

Great experience! I'm from out of town and I had some air problems in my tires. I went in one day and they gave me air and all my tires. I went back the next day and they took the tire off and checked to make sure that I didn't have a leak. I was leaving the next morning for an 800 mile ride back to Philadelphia Pennsylvania. They didn't charge me anything for those checks and see..Great experience, great place,great people!?

Had a really poor customer service experience and in there future I ll go elsewhere. Made an 11 AM appointment to have them look at the tires on my car and was going to wait with it. Got there and the technician looked at the tires in the lot and said then said he wanted to pull the car into the shop for a closer inspection. He then said that it might be a minute for them to go over it, so I should leave but he d call back shortly with an estimate. Accordingly, I left and waited to hear back. Five hours later, at 4 PM on a Friday I called to see what the deal was. They had not even brought the car into the shop, but assured me that it would be done by the end of the day. At 4:30 they called with their recommendations, which I accepted. I did not hear from them again the rest of the day, and when I called later, I discovered they had closed and left a message. I did not even hear from them when they opened the next day, and had to call around 9:30 to get an update. At that point, they first told me my car was ready, before calling back to say it would be another 45 minutes. When I explained that I needed the car yesterday to travel to a wedding and that them not being honest had really inconvenienced me, I never got so much as a single sorry . The price was fair enough, but they totally blew up my weekend waiting for my car. Sometimes it takes longer, it happens, but not being transparent, not working on the car when they said they would, and not acknowledging my inconvenience was frustrating.Service: Tires

Mysterious up-charges. Had my tires changed at this location a few times, and noticed that they started to insert mysterious "maintenance fees" in my bill, without letting me know. When I spotted it and asked about it, the manager came out and claim it is "standard" for all their services, lol. Service is professional, but somewhat slow. Not going back to this place, there are several better options in the town.Response to owners response: why should I waste more time with you? lolService: Tires

Horrible Horrible place do not go!!! I went for a scheduled oil change and they made me come back the next day. When I went in the next day they had told me 2-3 hours maximum. I waited for 6 hours before I called and they told me they were just now working on it. I had a $20 bill in my glove box that is no longer there and my kids toys look like they were stepped on. Why were they inside my car going through things?? Please do not go here. They have been reported many times already and I wish I had knownService: Oil change

If there is zero star I will give it. Scheduled appointment twice, went there and wait and reschedule again. 1st time the appointment rescheduled saying that one technician didn t show up. 2nd time went there wait for 1 hours then they said we couldn t do it to do as they have a major work in other cars. No commitment

Was charged $188 for a part, a serpentine belt. Seemed high. Checked online, retail is about $35. Asked them why so high? & was told was told they cant change the markup software. My fault for not asking for an exact quote, but based on past experiences, I never expected this kind of price gouging.I would still use them for repair, but be sure to get an exact estimate in writing, & maybe check around also.No complaint with the staff, since their hands are tied, but this pricing system is business suicide.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Brakes, Oil change

LADIES - do not go here, they will try to scam you. I initially went for someone to diagnose the weird sound coming from my car. They gave me a $1,500 estimate and said I needed to go to a separate shop to weld my muffler so the weird sound would stop. I went to midas the same day and it was ONLY my rear wheel bearing that needed to be replaced. Don t even bother going to this location.
