PLEASE DON T GO HERE!!!!! My name Damian Thomas and I am an engineer at University of Illinois and I am telling you this place will TAKE ADVANTAGE. So what you do go somewhere else. What they didn t know is I knew what was wrong with my car I just had didn t have time to fix it myself. They diagnosed me for one thing and told me bill would be $961 and then they told me car was ready! When I go in they then said they had to fix way more so they charged me more. They didn t even call and approve. BAD BUSINESS! Then I get in my car and the CHECK ENGINE light is still on! I go back in and they say I need to file an another diagnoses from them. I took some time and I prayed so this is not an angry review, I just want to keep others from making my mistake. This is just not a good place!

We dropped my wife s car at 8:30am for an appointment. They called us back after 2pm stating she needed new tires, brakes, rotors, calipers, and a wheel bearing; $3,000. She replaced her tires within the last couple of years so we asked for a quote without tires; $2000. Lastly, we asked for a quote for just the wheel bearing; $1500. I looked up the national average to replace the wheel bearing, $800 was the top end. They re trying to charge double the national average. Then they had the audacity to tell us if the vehicle is still there Monday morning we would be charged another fee after it took them 6 hours to get to us when we had an appointment. They also charged $100 for a diagnosis but took everything off our diagnostic report except the wheel bearings. If we paid for a diagnostic report we should have received the full report. I wouldn t recommend this place to an enemy after our recent experience.

Terrible recent experience- I went to this Car-X about two years ago and had a good experience, so I decided to go back for my car to be serviced for the ABS light. CAR-X first serviced my car on Saturday (7/16/23). Upon the diagnosis, they deciphered it was my rear speed sensors and, of course, trusted "your liable work by experienced professionals." Upon starting my car, I paid the fee and realized the issue wasn't fixed. I was told to return my vehicle on Monday, which I did, and they would look at it. It was believed to be a minor issue they would fix for free. Monday, I received a call stating my Tone ring was the problem causing my ABS to raise an error. After speaking to another mechanic at the Chevy dealership in town, I asked if a tone ring would be a part of diagnosing an ABS light and was told yes, of course, as you would check all areas that could trigger the ABS to be faulty. After hearing this news and realizing it was a lack of due diligence on the mechanics at Car-x, I asked to receive a credit of the total amount I paid to the first fixture because that wasn't the issue to the new issue, and I'll pay the difference. They refused that, so I requested a refund for what was first fixed because I don't believe it's fair that I'm spending more than necessary to resolve the issue due to the lack of due diligence. I even stated I'd take the old speed sensors back on and not take the new product and take my car somewhere else that would make the correct, complete diagnosis. Unfortunately, the situation could not be rectified between us, so I reported to the Better Business Bureau(BBB) because it's unfair that you are scamming individuals out of their money due to a lack of due diligence and care. I also, called Car-x headquarters and left a voicemail, but have yet to receive a call back.

Service was fast and reasonably priced. My one point of complaint would be the rude demeanor of the guy behind the desk. If it had just been once, I could have chalked it up to a bad day, but he was consistently gruff and dismissive with me and other customers both times I was in there. Not a huge deal, but it did sour the experience somewhat.

The staff at this Car-X was super helpful and efficient. I had an issue with the TPMS system, and they were able to offer a solution and fix it in about an hour on a Saturday afternoon. So grateful for their service.Service: TiresService: Tires

Quoted me $600 to change out my radiator, which I was able to order online for $100 and change out in under 30 mins with no experience. Then I called later to get a quote on changing out my break shoes, drum, and wheel cylinders after getting my car evaluated at another place, and they insisted they have to see my van first and couldn't give me a quote, not even a ballpark estimate. So, I would have to get my car towed there and pay for their evaluation fee before I would even have the slightest idea of how much they'd charge me, even when I could list what needed to be changed. Clearly, they just want your money.

Got my oil changed n they tried to sell me things I didn t need and now I have a light on my dash that has to do with the oil change n ROB TOLD ME ITS NOT THIER FAULT N WE CAN LOOK AT IT WHEN WE HAVE TIME. IM MOVING TOMORROW THATS Y I GOT THE IOL CHANGE. HE WAS EXTREMELY RUDE SND SAID OH WELL ITS NOT MY PROBLEM DONT DO BUSINESS HERE. There are other locations to go to. Don t go here. They make u spend more than what is needed. Very rude workers as well. This place sucks.

"Rob" was extremely rude to me not only over the phone, as he asked "When are you gonna come get this thing off my lot?" I started to ask him a question. He cut me off mid-sentence and firmly stated "I don't care about that." I said "Wow." He said "Yeah." He then proceeded to watch me and 3 good samaritans from the community push and tackle steering the car into the next lot. He came out once the nice tow truck man arrived to laugh about the situation when he thought I was out of sight. I know he doesn't know me personally, but I am a professional, working two jobs--one of which I left early to come pick up my vehicle. I paid the diagnostic fee. I didn't deserve to be treated that way. Hopefully, whatever he is going through that is making him so miserable and mean toward human beings, paying customers, will change. Never doing business there again.

Was told need an alignment after replacing my tires.The second pic is after the first alignment. I wasn t satisfied because the front camber were almost out of specs. So I requested another adjustment.The third one is the result of second alignment. The passenger side front camber got better but the specs on the rear was bad. The manager told me there is nothing they can do unless I buy a pair of adjustable control arm. And the estimate price is around $1.1kI asked if they can make it back to the result of first alignment. They told me They are not doing three alignments for one alignment price. The rear specs is not that bad.

I am a student and had apretty good idea what needed to be done to my car. After CarX told me what it was I price matched with other places, they were trying to charge double to triple for a part I could easily get, oem or other wise. When I went to pick up my car, I asked about the storage fee and what the stipulations for that were. Rather than telling me that the charge was because the car was there overnight, the employee told me I never called them back yesterday. I did call, and I even told him the name of the employee and the time. After that he informed me that it didnt matter anyways because the car was there over night. Makes me wonder about why he decided to scold me for not calling back. I can t speak for the other employees but the guy at the desk was rude. I would have a appreciated a simple the charge is for the car being here overnight.

I had an appointment there at 11 for an oil change. I waited in the lobby ( They did not say that it might take a while or anything to that effect). That took almost 4 hours. they did not offer any updates until I asked. When I asked for an update and they said it would take 30 more minutes and it ended up taking an hour before they updated me to tell me it would be 10 more minutes. Which of course actually meant 30 minutes. I find their lack of respect for my time incredibly disappointing. Additionally it cost double for an oil change than at other places. In general I would Say avoid at all costs. I went to the location at 601 E University Champaign, IL. Other locations might be better I don't know. But I know I will not be coming back.Service: Oil change

The guys who work at this particular CarX are always honest, transparent and professional. I have brought all of my cars here for years and have never had an issue. I always feel confident after having my car serviced here and can always trust their advice about current and future car service needs. It is close to campus, so when possible I can drop-off my car and walk to my office. And now, during the time of COVID, I felt very safe leaving my car and doing business with them.Update 02/10/2024: I took my car to these guys in December, with a coupon for an oil change, and was charged almost double the coupon price when checking out. They pointed to the small print, and gave explanations that I felt I had zero energy to argue with, so I paid and considered it a bait and switch coupon deal. But, recently, I naively referred a student there for a diagnostic issue, and she was treated unfairly and was up-charged for the diagnostic testing of her car, when all they did was drive it. I felt embarrassed to have recommended this location and sad that they are no longer offering the same level of customer service they once did. If you are a female, or a student short on funds, I would avoid this place. absolutely terrible experience. i took my car here to get the ignition switch replaced. the quote was very high but i was in a bind so i took it. the mechanic (over the course of several days) proceeded to break the clock spring (which he shouldn t have had to mess with) and claim that i needed a new O2 sensor because he didn t understand my car s stock security features. the car was also returned with the steering wheel 90 degrees off center and the mechanic claimed that i just needed and alignment. a simple ignition fix ended up taking several days, costing me over a thousand dollars, making me miss several days of work, AND i had to take my car to the local dealer and spend several hundred more dollars to correct the mistakes and ensure that the carx mechanic had installed everything correctly.carx customer service is also a joke. they ignored and ghosted me multiple times over the course of several months and when i was finally able to connect to someone they refused to pay for the unnecessary work because i had the new parts. this company terrible on all levels and should be avoided at all costs.

The service men were very experienced and professional. Don, the manager, was extremely diligent in finding what I needed, and even assisted the servicemen when necessary. Dan, the man that serviced my truck makes it hard to ever go anywhere else. He is extremely knowledgeable and also very professional. These two men should be commended for their customer service. I sat in the waiting room and watched how detailed they are with every customer. Its hard to find men like this to represent your company. You are blessed to have them. I will never go anywhere else to have work done on my truck. They should both be highly considered for promotions.Services: Tires, Brake service & repair

Make sure you ask for an estimate that includes every single cost item including taxes and all other fees. Didn t inform me correctly before proceeding to work on 2 occasions.1) Got my car in for an issue with AC. They changed the relay box and it didn t even resolve the issue. They charged $130 for the part and labor. The part was available at AutoZone for $14 and is accessible from under the glovebox without disassembling anything. I complained and they just gave me a 10% off.2) Charged $65 to install and balance a spare trailer tire on a rim. Did it quickly but gave quote without taxes and fees.

They installed lug bolts on my new wheels that didn't fit (ball seat vs conical). Wheels could've loosened and fallen off at any point. Also explains my constant need for wheel balancing.Called and the manager says this isn't a problem and "they don't get paid enough to swap over to the lug bolts provided by Tire Rack?? Hopefully they aren't cutting corners anywhere else. Luckily my wheels haven't fallen off - you might not be as lucky.

Their customer service is amazing. Dan listened to all my concerns and did a thorough inspection to be sure I could understand all that is happening to my car. I also really appreciated them being so understanding of my non verbal autistic son in their waiting room. I made an appointment for an oil change here a couple days in advance. I was told that the earliest they could make the appointment was at opening on a Saturday, which I agreed to since I thought that would put me first in line and make the service faster. When I came in (on time), I was informed that there were two customers in front of me, and that it would take some time to finish with my car. I was confused on why they would triple book an appointment slot if they didn t have the resources to get everyone out in a reasonable time, but I complied. I mentioned at this point that my car needed a windshield washer fluid refill, and was assured by the worker that it would be taken care of within the oil change and inspection service. I was then told that it would be best to come back later instead of waiting at the shop, so I went home on public transport in 15� weather. It took them over 2 hours for just an oil change, despite me making an appointment ahead of time. When I picked up my car I saw they didn t even have the courtesy to refill the windshield fluid like they said they would. I feel like this wasn t much to ask considering I paid over $120 for the service. They may have done a lovely job on the oil change, but the customer service at this location is lacking. If you choose to go here for repair, don t bother calling first. They will either double book your appointment or take walk ins before you. And leave a note with any special requests you may have, lest they forget.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Update from my review on 01/31/2023I have contacted customer service three times per the request of the company. After discussing my issues with a representative, the next two times I called it conveniently went straight to voicemail. It's been over a month since the initial discussion where they encouraged me that I would be compensated for the poor service. I have all receipts and am requesting a refund on my battery which died within a year and a half of installation and was the incorrect type of battery for 223.50, my exhaust which was replaced by them and needed to be serviced again in 7 months for 455.09, and my ignition which had to be fixed by another mechanic after 9 months for 340.11.I will now be documenting every time I call and will update this review whether or not they chose to resolve this situation.Original Review 01/31/23One of their replacement batteries lasted 1 year. When I returned it, they didn t believe it was their battery, so keep your receipts! The 2nd one just died after 1.5 years. I was told by both mechanics today that the 2nd was the incorrect type of battery.They replaced my muffler, left a temporary piece in, and charged another $300+ to replace that. They said that someone probably came in, snuck under my 2011 Ford Escape, and stole the real one. They replaced the wrong part of my key ignition. I went to a place back home to fix it correctly.Finally, I found out today that they put my tires on backwards. I should have stopped going to them sooner. I ve learned my lesson the hard way. I ve kept all receipts, but currently reside in MI so it s not feasible to return. I'm out $1000's.Services: Exhaust, Tires, Battery

On the way to Indiana my car broke down in rantoul Illinois so I got my car towed here at Car-X on Saturday and my birthday was the next day on Sunday which the business was closed and I forget the guy's name he told me my timing belt had snapped and they couldn't do nothing further to the vehicle so I had to get another mechanic to work on it so I decided to get it towed back to Indiana and the guy whoever his name was told me I had to have it out by Monday I told him to at least give me till Tuesday he said no and if I didn't have it out by Monday he would have it towed away from there so when Monday came the driver from triple a canceled on me the last minute and I didn't know what to do but I finally found somebody else to tow my car and this time it was a different guy name faread at car x on Monday he was very professional and nice and he had lot of empathy unlike the other guy and he didn't pressure me with no time limit to have it out of there but I told him that I will have it out Monday he was nice and I appreciate that faread had empathy for my situation I appreciate him he was a nice guy.....

The manager and technicians were very friendly and knowledgeable. I had two tires changed very quickly and had my 4 year old twins with me. The manager even came out and put cartoons on the TV while we waited. It was the best experience I could imagine and they catered to all of our needs. Words can't express how grateful I am for how amazing it was. This is the place to go, especially if you have kids. A big thank you to the staff, they were amazing!Service: Tires

Ok so I had a blowout about two miles out of Champaign and little did i know i was about to see an angel. AAA told me my tow was an hour away. 30 minutes later, DeAnne towed me and my traveling companion to CarX. This was the best towing experience i ever had. She was so friendly and personable. My tire popped and i thought i was going to die for a full second. My adrenaline had spiked and DeAnne carried me down from my unstable high with her angel wings. Then she dropped us off at taco bell to live mas and hot dang that was a good breakfast crunchwrap, thanks DeAnn!!!!
