John was absolutely fantastic and professional. Im not mechanically inclined at all and he helped me identify my issues with ease and explain it in a way that made sense for someone who doesn t work on vehicles. Highly recommend getting your transmission work done here!

Absolutely stellar work. As a broke college student, with little knowledge on cars besides an auto class in high school, it s hard to find someone like John who s patient and honest enough to walk you through what s going on and just be willing to give it to you straight, no beating around the bush. Been driving for a few days now and the car has never felt this good to drive before. Gave us a 3 year warranty on the transmission, where Nissan only offers 1 year, which speaks volumes to the confidence John rightfully has in the quality of his work. I d sooner pay to have my car towed 2+ hours to Mr. Transmission than somewhere closer, because I ve never had a better experience with a mechanic

They were fast and very quick to fix and replace the transmission on my vehicle. When picked up had issues with the transmission causing it to slip. And brought back stated, you have a check engine light on and that s why your transmission is slipping. Well trying fixing some stuff and car ran out of warranty before we could get everything fixed. Now after 5 months after getting the transmission replaced my car doesn t have reverse.

John worked to help us get our transmission fixed and he called around to help us get the best deal possible. I am thankful for the work that he did. If we ever need more work we will go to him.

I will definitely be back if needed! My Acadia transmission kept going into safe mode. John is straight to the point, tells you exactly what he would do if it were his vehicle. I called on a Monday, dropped off on Tuesday, picking up on Thursday. Wow! We had planned at minimum 5 days! Any other places I called, before Mr Transmission, were 3 to 4 weeks out.It has now been 4 weeks, No issues! Thanks John and the team at Mr Transmission!Service: Transmission

Perfect experience my car got done even though I wasn't financially able to pay for the work up front I'm so happy with my friends at mr transmission even after I bought this car from thompsons and it had a bad trans and front axle thanks again mr transmission

Great shop, honest owner, best builder in the business and most knowledgeable mechanic in the business. I would suggest if your in the state of Illinois pay the extra money and get it towed to this shop. John the owner will get you through all you transmission needs. In my opinion he's the best in the business.

Mr. Transmission Knows his Business. I cane in with a Very Sick Dodge transmission of the 1970s persuasion. There was probably 8 or 9 things done wrong when the last person tried to fix it. This place went through it with a fine tooth comb. They found a bad valve body and found a replacement in New Jersey that was rebuildable. They discovered that the previous shop I took the car in to fix had put in bolts on the torque converter that were too long. That destroyed the torque converter which once again was replaced with a found rebuild able unit. Mr. Transmission put in new bands and adjuster the stall speed to 2500rpm so the old engine would really bark and shake at the the start with the mannerisms of the old muscle cars of the 60s and early 70s. So when you need a Transmission to do what it was designed to do, and last, you need to give Mr. Transmission a call. Get the job done right the first time, not after some yahoo has worked it over and left you with more troubles than when you started.

I was almost 300 miles away from home when my transmission in my truck went out while pulling a trailer. I had them both towed here, and John and Tim treated me as good as anyone could ask for. I was stuck up there at the end of the day, and Tim even gave me a ride over to a restaurant, to wait on my ride. Awesome guys. Highly recommended.

We had an unusual situation with our car, and we were in a bind. John from Mr. T's helped us over and beyond. We are so thankful, and would highly recommend them. Thanks to Mr Transmission (John) we were able to get our car fix,fought the warranty company whom tried to argue the fact that was in plain site !!! And we are got our work done with small amount to pay if it wasn't for him we would had been in a little tough stop not to mention he took his time and found the correct problem I could not be more thankful I solely recommend this place full heart!!! They get to the problem and handle what needs to be done. Thank you so much for your great service!!!

Brought my car in for a free inspection/estimate. They had my car for almost 3 weeks. They called and told me from $1500 to $3000. Wouldn't know till they took it apart. What kind of an estimate was that. I could get a rebuilt transmission for $2100. Never again will I ho there.

If you want your repair done correctly, you can't go wrong here. They are very knowledgeable about transmission repair. I had a bad experience with a different local repair service. It is refreshing to to find a repair facility that takes pride in doing it right. I do most of my own work on my own vehicles. The transmission in my truck has never shifted this well since the day I bought it in 2007. Thank you for doing a great job.

Not happy with them they did more damage and I had to replace the parts including a wire harness now I just found out my cv axles are damaged and lower control arms not ever doing to do business with you ever again I'm going somewhere else -stars have a lawyer involved

Very honest opinion.!!I Had my Toyota corolla Front Axel leaking and some other Service repairer told me ,i need the Axel replaced because of leaking. I took my car to Mr. Transmission for second opinion, they immediately Pull my car in(very co-operative) and checked the Axel. They clean the leakage area and told me no need to repair immediately but bring the car back in after 2 weeks to check if the leakage is bad and need Axel repair or not. Very honest opinion. They did not even charge me anything to inspect the vehicle. Very nice person.

John (the owner) got down to the nitty gritty of my Honda Odyssey's transmission repair during our first consultation. He let me know exactly what the issue was and how he was going to fix it. My van runs wonderfully and has for a year now due to the education and service provided by Mr. Transmission.

I am so glad I came here. Most businesses will let you spend money even if you don't have to.I like the honesty, the service and the time invested to explain what was wrong with my vehicle. After all we live in a small community and more likely we will see each other again.I highly recommend this place.

Brought to the shop told it was going to be $1,800 . Charged me $3,600 instead. After getting the vehicle back the vehicle sometimes would not go in gear or you have to rev the car up just to get it to shift brought it brought it back a few times he still cannot fix the issue. A little over a year later my planetary gear blew up he fixed under warranty. Still after getting it back it shifted not like it was supposed to and now 3 years later the transmission is bad again. Found someone else to rebuild my trans under half the cost he charged me. No issues now. Nothing but headaches dealing with problems for over 3 years and he tells me he's done everything and cannot fix what's wrong so I eventually stopped going there

John was absolutely a life saver!!! My tranny tapped out at a random gas pump in a random place so that left my brother and I needing a motel. So we stayed the chilly night and the next morning John sent a tow truck to pick us up. I had been traveling from Florida to Milwaukee and had previously stopped at a Mr. Transmission to fix the transmission (clearly was not fixed..) John and Curtis were amazing and got us back on the road by the end of day! I am so blessed and grateful to have met such an amazing person with a wonderful character!

This is my first experience having to fix my car, and quite frankly it was a great first time. The owner is does not play games with you and will tell you how it is. If you depend on your car and don't want people to cut corners on repairs and knows where else you should take it. This is the place to go.

John is a man first, and awesome mechanic next! Had to get towed in to his shop unintentionally, and undenouced but still service was rendured gleefully. The vehicle was of a family members, but treated as my own. John was more honest about what all could be wrong, but still reassuring of what could also be done. The part was miniscule but needing to be ascertained elsewhere. Although we waited hours till arrival of the part, John tailored to our needs and wants. All in all, made an preordained tragedy into a parable situation. Thanks again.

Worst transmission job ever. Simple 700r4 . They let the engine down on my fan bending it and destroying my shafts bearing on my water pump. Drive line fell out one day later. I re installed. Transmission has been noisy since installed and TV cable system not set properly when installed and not working right. 5 months later. Vehicle has been parked since rebuild. About 500 miles on trans. I looked at the plug on the side of case and it was broken when plugged in. I'm going to call a Mr. Transmission rep. About the bad work and try to resolve these issues.

My wife and I broke down in Kankakee, IL on a Friday night while driving to a vacation destination. The car had broken down several weeks earlier in Nebraska where it underwent replacement of the slave cylinder. After an unexpected night stay in Kankakee, we began looking for repair shops open on a Saturday. Unfortunately there were none. Online we found information on Mr. Transmission in Bourbonnais, IL, including excellent reviews. When we called the owner, Mr. John Giblin, answered even though the shop was closed. He was out of town with a cell phone, but we made arrangements for us to have our car towed to Mr. Transmission where it would be examined the following Monday. Mr. Giblin called first thing Monday morning simply to tell us that he had found our car in the parking lot and he would call with a diagnosis later in the day, which he dependably did. While at first inspection the problem appeared to simply be a disconnected hose, it was determined that that was simply the symptom and not the disease. Mr. Giblin and another mechanic further disassembled the clutch and found the issue to be a bit more complicated. Mr. Giblin had the courtesy to take me in the shop and show me the problem. Everything was very transparent and Mr. Giblin only displayed the utmost honesty and sincerity. He quickly pursued finding the least expensive replacement part, and even took the initiative to pursue having Jeep cover some of the costs of the repair as the substandard repair in Nebraska was at a Jeep dealership. Mr. Giblin was successful in doing so.Throughout the entire process Mr. Giblin made every effort to ensure the repair was completed as quickly as possible, and at the lowest possible cost. He was very sensitive to the fact that we were from out of town and had numerous logistical issues with which to contend. Mr. Giblin even maintained is good natured demeanor as the street in front of his shop was made inaccessible due to a water main repair. My wife and I genuinely appreciate Mr. Giblin's kindness and professionalism throughout the process. In fact, he even called after I made the three-hour drive home to make certain everything was working well. Such generosity is especially appreciated considering we weren't able to have our vacation. And our Jeep runs smoother than ever! If your vehicle ever has a transmission issue and you live near Bourbonnais, IL, we highly recommend Mr. Transmission.

Got the job done thoroughly and with a price right where I expected. They even checked over my car for some noises they heard (not what the car was in for) and gave me suggestions on how/where to fix. Service above and beyond expectations.
