My 80 year old mother recently had her car dropped off at your Bolingbrook, IL location for a new battery and an oil change. While it was there, she asked if they can look at the fluid levels and do a quick once over. Her bill came out to over $2,000!!!! This included almost $170 for an oil change, $300 for a battery and almost $90 to install it!!! Any other place will install a new battery for free!! And who does oil changes for $170??? Her itemized bill said they changed the spark plugs. The car has only 40,000 miles and the plugs that were in it were good for 100,000 miles. I know that because I changed them for her just last year. I believe this bill was extremely high and stuff was done that did not need to. I spoke with the location manager and all he said was "that is the price for doing work". I will never, ever go to a Merlins Auto Care again as I honestly feel she was taken advantage of!!!! I wish I can leave 0 stars but this review won't let me.

This was my third or fourth time going to this location, I believe it was my first time dealing with Jonathan upfront. He was very helpful. I really appreciate him. He went out of his way to keep me informed and up to speed on the repairs for my vehicle five stars for sure I will be back.

Was basically scammed 3 months ago I paid 500 dollars for 2 new hid headlights and one of them has already burned out. I came and dropped off my truck to be looked at and was told that the old manager didn t have my work under warranty and that I would have to pay an additional 600 dollars to fix. Definitely will never do business at this establishment ever again.

Total different staff from a year ago. All organized with scheduling cars when they give you a time. Very friendly and took care of me with great customer service. Was in and out in less than 45 min with my synthetic oil change .Thank you Bolingbrook Merlins!!Service: Oil changeService: Oil change

This shop is great. They've always been honest about what work needs to be done on the car, and what doesn't. What is critical and what can wait. I've brought all my cars here for years.

Went in for AC but they checked on the rest of the car. It was a little nerve wrecking to see the report that was compiled on what was wrong with the car. Scary to see it all but Johnathan walked through it all and also prioritized each item. His staff was not only able to do it all but they did it all in one day. While they worked on the car, the owner, Tesh, gave me a ride home so I only had to take an Uber one way. All in all great experience from the moment I walked in the door until I drove off. This is the experience you hope to receive when visiting the shop. Great job everyone and THANK YOU!!!!

My landlord uses Merlin Auto Care for repairs and maintenance for his vehicle, so when I heard something rubbing on the right front tire of my car, I brought my Cadillac to this location. While waiting for the inspection of my vehicle, I was reading through all the google reviews of this business and the negative reviews put me in a panic.I dropped the vehicle off around 10:30am and saw that parking lot was full of vehicles waiting for service, so I went home to wait for them to call me. At 1:30pm they told me they were getting ready to examine the vehicle so I walked back to the business. That was impressively fast considering how many vehicles were ahead of me.About 30 minutes later they confirmed that the front right wheel bearings needed to be replaced. They quoted a price that was actually about $150 CHEAPER than my online price search recommended for this kind of repair.While the mechanic was removing the tire and the old bearing system, the replacement part arrived by delivery service and the mechanic began to immediately replace the part. To my mistake, I didn't know that my vehicle was 4 wheel drive and required a different type of replacement part from the 2 wheel drive. Without hesitation, the mechanic showed it to the service desk, and the correct part was delivered 15 minutes later without any additional charge.By 4:30pm the work was complete. After driving the Cadillac that evening and the next day I found no further problems, and the vehicle drove nice and smoothly as it did before the bearings went bad.IN SUMMARY, despite the negative reviews on this page, I FOUND COMPLETE CONFIDENCE, PROFESSIONALISM, AND VALUE in choosing this location for my automotive care and maintenance. I have a few other items that also need work on my vehicle, and will certainly be back to Merlin Auto Care to take care of those issues as well.UPDATE AUGUST 2022: I have been to Merlin's three times now, and every time the quality of service matches that which I originally described above.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Wiper blade installation

I've been to this Merlin a few times with mixed results. I expect them to try and help with the price, I expect the work to be done right, but in the end how long that's going to take is usually up in the air. I started coming here because of my good experiences at the Merlin in Glendale Heights, but my last visit cost me $400 over the quoted price and their "Credit" they offered was a High Interest Loan, NOT Credit and I wasn't dealing with the same manager I was dealing with all along.Service: Engine repair

Kind and courteous service that was quick and delivered at a fair price. This is the 2nd time I have gone to Merlin for muffler service, and I highly recommend them to anyone needing that kind of help.

Worst company to trust with your car. They put a starter in my car, used to big of a bolt and fried my fuse block. They called me and told me my BCM was bad and I needed to pay $2600 to fix it. I took it somewhere else and fixed the fuse block for $200. Take your car literally anywhere else!

I normally go for oil changes and at one point more. Be very careful they will cost you more money later. I had several cars over the years and even just stopped going. You go in for a oil change than your car has another $1000 or more issue the next day. Yeah learned lesson. They over charge you for everything if not careful. Very poor experience with this business location. The men staff members are sexist to female customers, they do not provide adequate customer care, they have not performed quality service on my vehicle and my vehicle stopped on me three times while driving on the high way.When I brought my vehicle back in for service on two occasions after my services were incomplete, they were booked and did not service my vehicle, which they did not properly operate on. The managers are rude, and appear to be incompetent in their professional line of work. Instead of diagnosing my vehicle, which was requested of them for price estimating, they over-charged me for the services, arranged a payment plan post extending a line of credit, and the vehicle was still unsafe to operate.The Manager Hussein is initially pleasant then begins to speak over customers when he is challenged to deliver respectful and ethical customer service; Hussein is rude and does not care about the safety of his customers. He also does not follow-up and get the job complete in a timely fashion. My vehicle has been at the location for more than 5 days, and they still have not corrected their auto mechanical error.Due to Hussein's unprofessional behavior, some of his staff members mimic his unprofessional ways as well, particularly being sexist to women. I would not recommend this location nor any other Merlin Auto Shop to anyone in search of auto repairs. I am currently asking the Manager, Hussein for a REFUND on the incomplete repairs that I have paid on my vehicle.

UPDATE: The owner still refused to take any responsibility for this incident. I also found out after this review that they had left my car with more than $4,000 worth in damages. I am still fighting with them through the help of my insurance company for the money since the owner does not want to admit any wrongdoing even though I have proof documented after taking the car to an honest shop. I had even attempted to reach out to the corporate offices of Merlin but I guess they don't seem to care that their franchise owners are ruining people's cars and not bothering to take responsibility. I hope my insurance company is able to seek out further financial reparations for the damages done by this shop and this owner. For now, my advice would be to steer clear of this shop!This was the worst oil change experience I have ever had! I made an 8am appointment for just a simple oil change.Showed up on time only to have the man at the counter tell me I never made an appointment but that he would "make time" for me anyways. I told him I could show him the confirmation email of my appointment as well as the reminder email they sent me the day before and he told me that I was a liar! He only called after I left to tell me to come back and they would do the oil change free of charge... since I really needed it done and there weren't any other local options to where I already was, I agreed.Somehow it still took them 50 additional minutes for a simple oil change. Then I left with my car only to have it sputter like it was going to stall! Brought it immediately back and at first they claimed it wasn't them but, once again, tried to act like they were the ones doing me the favor!Then they finally realized that they both overfilled and put the wrong oil in! It's now 9:40 and I'm still waiting! And the owner is not even apologetic or helpful. I will never bring my car here again! Stay away!

I do not recommend this place to anyone because I took my car to this shop for the check engine light and they told me they recommend injector service after he did the injector service he said that it would fix the problem in cylinder #5 and they called me that the truck was ready to pick up and i picked it up then 2 days later the check engine light came on and i called them and complained and they said to bring it back and they called me that it was ready to pick it up and again 2 days later the check engine lights was back on so they never fixed the problem and still charged me $600! I brought my truck so they can fix the problem and they fixed nothing. So everyone be careful when you go to this shop. Im going to call corporateService: Auto engine diagnostic

I got a regular oil change done on my car last week and it has been running great. The staff is very friendly and the wait time was very minimal. The new service manager, Erik, is very friendly and helpful along with the staff. I will be going back for more service, as well as, recommending family and friends to this location.

I bought a used 07 Hyundai Azera and everything was working fine until it just decided not to start. I was told by many it was the starter or security system. I called merlins and spoke with Hussein and he was very helpful and was able to get me in within the next day. They inspected the car and discovered it was the starter that needed to be replaced. Juan who was the mechanic who worked on our car was also very friendly and understanding. He also did his best to make sure we d be able to drive the vehicle. Thanks guys for your help and customer service!

Hussein and his team have always been honest, attentive, and caring with our vehicles. They even got in a van and went to my wife's car across the parking lot to replace a blown out tire so she didn't have to drive on it and ruin the rim for no extra charge. I'd give no stars if I could! The worst decision bringing my car here. Came in for an oil change and ended up spending our whole afternoon here. Maybe because some of their guys were smoking weed on the job smh. They said my brake lights were out (weird) and we'd have to wait for a part but we went home and came back because we had our baby with us and didn't plan to be there that long. The manager wouldn't let me pay and said to pay later when we returned. He just wanted to get more money out of us. Charged us for a new brake switch we didn't even need (labor cost almost $90!!) when really all we needed was a fuse but they wrote on my receipt that the fuse was replaced at no charge - hmm sneaky. They didn't want to charge us just for a fuse. We ended up paying $160 after they said the brake lights were fixed and guess what? No lights worked!! They told me to come back Monday and this was Mothers Day weekend. I couldn't believe I was out $160 and they didn't complete the job all because they wanted to go home at 5pm, wow! Luckily my fiance fixed it, not the guys at Merlin.When we went back on Monday, we had the worst customer service experience with rude and obnoxious Scott. Told him our car was making a weird sound and didn't feel safe to drive. He said now we're blaming him for any and everything, instead of taking a look at it. Had our mechanic come to our house and he said they broke my heat shield when they jacked it up. Owner called me saying he would fix the brake lights (even though they were fine) and repair the heat shield but returned my car in the same shape. They lied and said my car wasn't making any sounds when they drove it. Even though I was refunded half of my money, since I left their shop Saturday I've gotten it towed twice and now have to get another car. Repairing isn't worth it. STAY AWAY FROM HERE.

Complete ripoff! Steer clear away from this place. Initially, Hussein seems understanding and professional but that is an act to make customers trust him. I went to get the brakes for my 2009 Toyota Camry hybrid changed a week ago, and Hussein ended up charging nearly $800.00 to get it replaced. Keep in mind that he only changed the rotors and breakpads and not the caliper (which was supposed to be the "expensive" part). Nearly every mechanic and internet resource I've talked to and read has stated that its a $300 job in respect to this specific car.A couple days after the repair the blower motor for the A/C in my car stopped working. I've owned this car for nearly 10 years and never had this problem before. It's highly suspicious that it stopped working right after I took it to Merlin's. It's problematic because the winter season has started making my car extremely frigid and cold.All-in-all, Hussein and Merlin's is a scam and they'll charge you as much as they can to make money off you. The quality of work is mediocre at best as my brakes aren't in tip-top condition as you'd expect from brand-new brakes and an $800 repair job.Again, I warn anyone going to get their car repaired to STAY AWAY from this place.Service: Brakes

Try to upsell and bump everything.. I am a car salesman saying that their upsetting was annoying. It's hard to get to what you came in for. Was there from 9am to 3pm for oil change and parking brake. The service tech was good and knowledgeable but the desk guys are just trying to make money while you are trying to get your car fixed.

My mom went here and they quoted her for a new engine, then tried to have her pay $1,200 more after they dropped the new engine in her car. Seemed a bit shady that my mom had to haggle the price down with them, she still ended up paying more than what they originally quoted her regardless.
