Super nice older generation that seems to really know what he's doing runs the place. Hard to find, no signs really. Took a week to deck my Subaru heads. Very pleased with the results. Not to mention very fair pricing!

Simply the best machine shop around. Will from Apex was very knowledgeable and patient throughout the whole process. The work done was simply a bonus. Everything was impeccable and I will be a lifetime customer.VW 1.8T Build.

First time here and was a great experience. Guys have been in the game a few decades and know what they're doing. Brought my BMW head in for valve guide installation/ honing, valve seat reface, head resurface, flywheel resurface. Everything turned out great. Bill was able to guide me in the right direction with some other concerns I had with my build. Fairly priced, polite, and helpful which sadly is not too common in this industry. Pleasure doing business and I will definitely be coming back here for future projects.

Had a great experience with the two gentlemen here. They rebuilt my S54 including all beadworkand helped advise me on my build throughout the process. As well as getting my block specially tested. Great shop and very affordable! Bill and his team do amazing work!!!!! They have been servicing my engines (Honda) for over 10yrs and never had one complaint about them! Keep up the great work guys looking forward to seeing you guys again

Love these guys! Uncle Bill is the man! Had them machine my 2J block, which I'm finally in the process of assembling. Great work, very timely, extremely fair prices! I wouldn't hesitate to use them again with my next build. Thanks again fellas!

Love these guys. Ask and they deliver (figuratively) !!!! EASY TO TALK TO. Very knowledgeable guys. Quick turnaround on my Toyota cylinder head. Next day. Quality work!!!!There shop is packed with Good stuff. I am not kidding (( packed )). You can tell these guys love there work. $40 bucks to have my warped head milled flat.Thank guys.

Extremely knowledgeable. I have definitely found my go-to machine shop for the future.Did great work, turnaround was good as well. Communication was solid, always answered the phone. Knew everything about the old BMW engine platforms which is always refreshing.Just note they are cash only!

I ve done a lot of business with Bill (owner of apex) He is very knowledgeable with many platforms. He knows them like the back of his hand and could give you great advice and do the work flawlessly. Priced very reasonable. When I don t know something or need advice for a build he s my go to guy! I highly recommend going to him for all your engine builds and machine work. He has the tools and knowledge to get it done!

Great job on my BMW S54 head, thanks again. Had a valve job, disassemble and clean and head machined for less than some shops want just to machine a head. Amd the quality is top notchHad an Evo block and 2 evo heads done here a while ago aswell. Bill will work on everything with awesome expertise

Old school family business, where works Bill with his son. In them machining knowledge and job quality I have no doubt. Price for labor/hour is pretty decent is 150/h. Great place for DIY guys

I always take my engine components to this shop. Bill and Will and their cylinder head guy always complete fine work and are easy going. They always listen to my requests and and make suggestions if necessary. Top notch machine work.

Our company specializes in Porsche engine repair. We have used Apex in Bensenville many times before we moved our business to Florida. Never had a problem until the last job they did for us: restoring couple of 996 3.6l cylinder heads. We sold our newly rebuilt Porsche 996 3.6l engine with heads restored by Apex to our customer in Knoxville,Tn. Right after installation we received a horrifying phone call from our client stating his engine blew up immediately after start up without even applying higher rpms. His shop inspected what happened and said they found broken head valve which fell into the cylinder and damaged cylinder and piston. When we got the engine back at our shop in Florida we were stunned after we found that there was atiny pin left inside the valve. There are 2 pins still properly installed on that one valve which broke, but to our surprise there is a third pin inside which must have fallen between the springs and valve. This is the cause of this immediate failure which is causing us a lot of expenses and loss of our good reputation. In effect cylinder#6 got damaged (which was freshly resleeved by the way), piston got damaged as well.Our customer paid $12,000 for this motor (without core exchange), plus shipping. His shop is charging him $2500 for installation. Now, we had to incur shipping charges back to our shop $300, we are facing expenses for another rebuilt engine of $12,000, $300 shipping to client (again) plus another $2500 in labor for the shop to remove and install the motor again. Apex' mistake leaving this tiny pin inside is causing us major failure and costing us total of $15,100!!!!!!!!!!We called them to let them know what has happened only to hear that we are responsible for inspecring the heads after they work on them. So in other words, we are supposed to take them apart and inspect valves inside after we pay them to do the work. Outrageous! Why would we even use Apex if we have to do all the work ourselves?!!! They said it's impossible this happened because they work on so many engine parts for so many years and never had a problem. Well, it is possible and it happened to us! Are we just extremely unlucky or what? If we didnt know them personally we would think they tried to sabotage our business and good reputation! They did offer to repair the heads which are garbage at this point anyway. After we've emailed them pictures, detailed description of what happened and contact to our customer's shop, we never received any response or even an apology. We are left with this horrible problem without any help at all from Apex. Our customer is not able to drive his car which should have been finished long time ago for this year's season.Needles to say we are extremely disappointed in the way Apex has offered no help in this situation and the way they are handling what happened by totally ignoring their fault and leaving us with all expenses.Business owners beware of this business because if you ever go through what we are going through you will also hear what we heard from them: you are responsible for inspecting parts you put into your finished product.
